Thank you Angela! You are one of a few on iTunes who show us the actual quilting and then back it up with your free design sheets. You’re giving us the help we need to improve.
I just love how stunningly beautiful, yet occasionally boldly imperfect, your quilts are. It's a reminder to all of us to have fun and not take our piecing so seriously. As a quilter friend once told me, "You should only judge a quilt from the back of a galloping horse!" Thank you for providing so much joyful and uninhibited inspiration to create, Angela :)
I use flat sheets. They’re finished already, endless variety and sometimes I even fold over the top to create an “additional” top border (about five inches with doubled batting) that’ll make a bed look already made 😘. It’s a bold move that really works. Love your show, Angela! 👆🏼
I Am obsessed with your channel and I have never even made any type of quilt. I just hope someday I will have all this quilting knowledge and start making them with no problem....lol. i have to say I like the solid backs more than the piece back. Just so glad I found your channel! thank you Annette
I've never done a quilt but I find your quilting videos so relaxing and your excitement really makes me smile. Also, although a little unrelated, I love how you say "nice" or "beautiful" or "fantastic" when you finish a step. I'm not a quilter (..yet! I might soon become one though!) but I'm a pretty crafty person, and your optimism and non-perfectionism reminds me to get excited about finishing little steps, and appreciating the things that go well instead of stressing about the things that don't turn out perfect. Thanks for the inspiration I get to take from there videos! Lots of love ♡
i love pieced backs, always make the back look as nice as front, ex-specially if the person receiving it is quilt worthy. BY the way Thank You Angela , you are an inspiration.
I love that you spent more time teaching how to quilt and your thought process that goes into it. I think that will help me a lot. LOVE your show my grandson is a fan too. We always have our quilting juice (Dr. Pepper) Thanks for all you do.
Pieced backing!!! Makes both sides interesting. Uses up some of the leftovers from that particular fabric collection. Helps make up space when you may not have enough fabric for the backing.
By the time I get the top finished I don’t want to piece the back yet. But I have pieced some and loved the way they turned out. Made a sail boat quilt for youngest grandson and on the back made a large boat and framed it. Turned out wonderful. Thanks for this tutorial. Love ❤️ the quilt
I have never done a pieced backing but would like to try it! This is such a beautiful quilt. If I ever tried this one I know the seam ripper and I would be best friends by the end of it!!
This is lovely! And I’m a pieced back kind of girl. Doing so much work for the quilt tops, it seems silly to me not to put in some extra work on the back. I just do more minimalistic backs.
I like solid backs, but you might convince me to try pieced ones again using your method! I like how scrappy this quilt looks using these beautiful fabrics. I love the border quilting. Thanks for all your quilty inspiration!
I am an avid watcher of your tutorials! I'm just starting to quilt some of my quilts!! Scarry! You make it look easy so I'll try it. I have learned lots from all of your shows. I also have loved making a pieced back which makes it so much more interesting! Thanks for all your RUclipss.
I love pieced backings!! It makes a "normal" quilt a little more versatile (as you can flip it over). I know it takes a little more time, but I don't mind. It also helps get rid of fabric you want to get rid of! I hate buying 6-7 yards of fabric just for a backing... it seems like a huge waste. I've started buying vintage sheets to use for backings, and that helps defer cost, too. Loved this twinkly quilt, Angela! No one cares about those points when your quilting looks as fantastic as it does. I'm definitely going to take that free class on backings.
I love pieced backings! I use the seams to add in some selvedges with the fabric name and maker on them, plus I’ll add the color charts on the selvedge if it’s cute- like Tula Pink’s.
I like both! The one pieced back that I have done is so pretty. I almost like it more than the top. But not quite. Solid backs go together much quicker though, and sometimes I just want to get the quilt done.
I love this quilt design, as well as the quilting! So many other quilts are on my bucket list, but I must squeeze this one in. I tend to use pieced backs. I find beautiful fabrics on sale that I think would be fabulous as backings and I buy 5-8 yards. But, I love using the wider width backings when I can find a good deal and a great print. Just one less seam to sew.
Hi, to piece or not to piece....hmmm. It depends on the style and “feel” of the quilt. A scrap quilt with a pieced back is great! I’ve used leftover design blocks on the back of a modern quilt, too. Solid backings work well on lap or baby quilts. It all depends on the quilt, for me anyway! Love your show! Thank you!
I always make a pieced back, so the quilt essentially has two fronts...many times I choose vibrant colors for one side and subtle colors for the other side, for two entirely different looks. As far as keeping it straight for quilting, I spray baste and pin, and sew/baste one side to the batting before adding the other side. It works great!
I have done both. Although a non-pieced backing is quicker and easier, I love the whole new dimension a pieced backing adds to the quilt. This quilt you made is gorgeous!
Great quilting, as usual, Angela. I like the ease of the wide backings (but love the look of the pieced backs, especially modern ones. It's like getting two quilts in one). ~Diana from Toronto
I think it depends on the quilt whether it gets a pieced back or a solid back. I've done both and I think looking at the pieced backs make me smile more than the solid ones.
I've only done solid backs (or large strips sewn together to make them wide enough)sometimes out of sheer laziness, but mostly just wanting to get done and get to the next project. I've watched all your videos and love 'em, but honestly I still get sweaty palms seeing a wine glass on a sewing table. I'd accidentally knock that sucker over in a heartbeat. :)
Definitely pieced backs for me. One of my favorites was actually an accident, where a quilt block did not come out exactly the way I wanted. So, I decided to use it on the back. The result was beautiful.
Such a pretty quilt, I have liked every quilt you make from ombre fabric. Guess I'll have to break down a purchase some (even tho i have two rooms full of fabric). Pieced vs whole backs...... depends on the quilt !
I’ve probably used this feather meander more than any other design! Thanks for such an awesome inspirational tutorial! Gotta love the ombré fabrics!!! They are so visually appealing.
Always pieced backings! :) I like to do a little something that resembles the top, but slightly different. Sometimes I end up liking the backs more! I always use a tiny swatch of each fabric in the binding too, as a fun little accent.
I always use my scraps in the back for a pieced back. the bonus is that you use up fabric so you have to buy more fabric, plus the backs are interesting
I do too. I tried to comvince a friend its ok if the back isn't all matchy-matchy and I though she was going to have a heart attack. Its fin if its not all matched because its like a 2nd quilt
Pieced backing for sure! Any extra fabrics left over can be incorporated. Sometimes my backs are nicer than the fronts, what a bonus to have a two sided quilt!
I prefer a solid back. A pieces back is like having two quilts in one when you could have two whole quilts 🤔🤔🤔 I loved that extra video, though! I can’t get enough of the midnight quilt show!! ❤️
I like the solid back because you don’t have to worry if the piecing is straight or not and also no seam to have to go over. The top has enough seems to fight.
I have done a ton of pieced backs as it a great way to use all that fabric I no longer love. Sometimes I use scraps from the front, other times I don't. I sometimes make giant blocks, other times total improv. It always adds a fun surprise to the back.
I don’t have a preference for which type of backing yet...each has its own merit. Wow there are sooo many points to this design!! The ombré fabric is pretty in this quilt. Now to click on link to see what backing you chose.
Wow! It is stunningly beautiful! :-) As far as what my preference is between pieced or solid backings, well it depends on the quilt and the available fabrics for the piecing, really. I cannot make a generalization. Just gotta find the right combination!
Thank you Angela! You are one of a few on iTunes who show us the actual quilting and then back it up with your free design sheets. You’re giving us the help we need to improve.

I love making pieced backs , especially with the leftovers. Great way to clean up the stash.
I use flat sheets. They’re finished already, endless variety and sometimes I even fold over the top to create an “additional” top border (about five inches with doubled batting) that’ll make a bed look already made 😘. It’s a bold move that really works. Love your show, Angela! 👆🏼
I love pieced backs. It's like a happy surprise when you turn it over.

Thanks Angela for your smile, energy and sharing your talent. Love your videos. Love your quilts!
I agree
i love pieced backs, always make the back look as nice as front, ex-specially if the person receiving it is quilt worthy. BY the way Thank You Angela , you are an inspiration.
I like solid backs for quick and easy. I'm so happy they make wide backing fabric in lots of colors and patterns.
I love your tips, especially the one with the correct foot.
I love that you spent more time teaching how to quilt and your thought process that goes into it. I think that will help me a lot. LOVE your show my grandson is a fan too. We always have our quilting juice (Dr. Pepper) Thanks for all you do.
What a star 😍😍 . If your quilt needs a new home I’d gladly love and treasure it😍😍😍Angela
Love the colors..your quilts are beautiful
I have done both and love your show. Keep teaching

Thanks for all your RUclipss.
I took a free motion quilting class & we used 3 layers or hoid quality paper towels to practice on.
Just keep practicing.
I pieced the back of my son's airplane quilt. I used a map fabric as the center and had a grunge split on each side. Loved how it came out!!
Paisley is my favorite too! So fun and adds so much dimension!
Pieced!!! My favorite- Love your show!!
Love this video!!! Pieced back for sure!
Absolutely gorgeous - your machine quilting has inspired me to make this quilt and do this pattern by hand - it will be beautiful - thank you!
I love pieced backing. Another great video!
So nice!!
OMG! the way you sew these motifs on the quilt is freaking awesome!
I love pieced backings!! It makes a "normal" quilt a little more versatile (as you can flip it over). I know it takes a little more time, but I don't mind. The Cheeto was priceless. 😁
Love piecing the back...kinda like getting 2 quilts in 1!!
You did a great job! That looks pretty hard. I love flannel backs, preferably all one fabric.
I am so glad i found the book with the pattern! It is in my bucket list
I like both! The one pieced back that I have done is so pretty. I almost like it more than the top. But not quite. Solid backs go together much quicker though, and sometimes I just want to get the quilt done.
Quilt back is really pretty. The cool blues and greens add a lot to the reds.
I love this quilt! I'm piecing the bigger star squares now. This is a tough quilt with a lot of pieces.
OMG. Stunning pattern
I make pieced backs on 90% of my quilts!! Love them...2 quilts in one!
I love this quilt design, as well as the quilting! So many other quilts are on my bucket list, but I must squeeze this one in. I tend to use pieced backs. Just one less seam to sew.
I really love pieced backs. It makes the quilt reversible! Great tutorial as usual, love the ombre effect.
I like a backing with one fabric. I only use pieced if I am desperate. The quilt pattern is pretty 😀

I really love a pieced back, but almost always shoot for a wide back because by that point I’m ready to get it quilted! 👍
I have done both. Although a non-pieced backing is quicker and easier, I love the whole new dimension a pieced backing adds to the quilt. This quilt you made is gorgeous!
That's pretty I can stay up passed Midnight watching you, you are so good, love your work and you make it so fun and funny.
I like the pieced backing. I’m making my first quilt and i think i will use it for my backing.
Gorgeous. Love your relaxed attitude to perfection. I've never pieced the back, but I sure like the way your back turned out. Very nice!
Pieced backs are so much fun to create.
Thanks for your free diagram. Very nice pattern. best regards
Absolutely wonderful!!!! Thank u so much!!!
Great quilting, as usual, Angela. I like the ease of the wide backings (but love the look of the pieced backs, especially modern ones. It's like getting two quilts in one). ~Diana from Toronto

What a gorgeous quilt! ❤️
Pieced and scrappy
I love pieced backs. I like reflecting the front on the back. Sometimes if my back turns out to be quite elaborate, I convert it into a second top!

I have never done a pieced back. I'm going to have to try it on my next quilt!
I love pieced backs.
I love all backs especially ones you have quilted. Your great at anything you attempt.
Always pieced backings! :) I like to do a little something that resembles the top, but slightly different. Sometimes I end up liking the backs more! I always use a tiny swatch of each fabric in the binding too, as a fun little accent.
Lol mid night quilt show with the sunshine...i love your videos and helping me learn to fmq...😎😎😎
I always use my scraps in the back for a pieced back. the bonus is that you use up fabric so you have to buy more fabric, plus the backs are interesting

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing. :)
I do too.
I tried to comvince a friend its ok if the back isn't all matchy-matchy and I though she was going to have a heart attack.
Its fin if its not all matched because its like a 2nd quilt
I would like to see the finished product at the beginning of the video to see where we are headed. LOVE your show!
Love this Quilt, I like pieced backs it let’s you be creative using your Stash ❤️😃
ALWAYS piece my backs to use up ALL the fabrics... it's my pet project this year! GB
I really like pieced backing. It gives you a chance to use up left over scraps (and a reason to buy new fabric)
Very pretty quilt!♥️
I loved pieced backed quilts!
Fabulous quilt! I try and do pieced backs on all my quilts!
I like the piece backings. I’ve finished quilts that way, adds character to the quilt! 😁
Pieced backing for sure! Any extra fabrics left over can be incorporated. Sometimes my backs are nicer than the fronts, what a bonus to have a two sided quilt!
I agree totally
Thanks for a great quilting design. Think I will use it on my next quilt. Also liked the pieced backing video. Always a pleasure to watch.
This design is awesome....
I like a pieced back - especially to use up any "extra" blocks I might have made!
Beautiful! Love the colors and the quilting!
I prefer a solid back. A pieces back is like having two quilts in one when you could have two whole quilts 🤔🤔🤔 I loved that extra video, though! I can’t get enough of the midnight quilt show!! ❤️
You are so talented as always and thank you so much! I always learn new things!
Beautiful block Angela. As always I love your video.
Pieced back for sure! Dips into my stash so I can buy more! 😘
I like the solid back because you don’t have to worry if the piecing is straight or not and also no seam to have to go over. The top has enough seems to fight.
108 inch solid back ... works best for me .... I love all the extras left overs that end up in other projects.
What a beautiful quilt! I prefer a solid back but have used pieced backs on baby quilts and wall hangings.
Thank you Angela for another great video. I love the backing. Never try it. I will now.
I like them both depends on what I'm quiltinq, and the fabric I have on hand!
I usually have pieced backs unless I remember to buy the larger one piece backing. Love your videos. Thanks
I always piece my backs! Sometimes it's two quilts in one.
I have done a ton of pieced backs as it a great way to use all that fabric I no longer love. Sometimes I use scraps from the front, other times I don't. I sometimes make giant blocks, other times total improv. It always adds a fun surprise to the back.
love the dog in your picture, by the way I always do a pieced back. Some backing have been totally made from old scraps
I loved pieced backs. ☺️
That was a lot of work! I always use full flannel backing. 8-)
Love your t-shirt!
I mostly do solid backing but I love the pieced backings.
