I knew David Jones for a very long time and he was the most caring, supportive, dedicated also loyal person I have ever known. He was one of my dearest friends, and I will of course miss him. Let his music and legacy live on with other future generations.
There are no words to describe how freakin gorgeous Davy was, and with that accent! I think God made him short because nobody can be perfect and he knew our little hearts couldn't handle it.
+jae brooms Well him being tall would've made him very different. I prefer him at 5'3" ;) But Mike is my favorite, but I love Davy because of his big heart and pure joy.
RIP DAVY...will miss the dance and the accent.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( I am glad i got to see you near my home in Chicago this past summer!!! You are one of a kind!
I was so in love with Davy back in the late 60's , I watched every Monkees episode , bought all the Monkees albums , also bought every Monkee Spectacular magazine that came out . I had his pictures all over my bedroom wall , I still cannot believe he is gone . ❤💔❤
lol thumbs up if whenever it showed only mike, peter, and mickey, u were trying to watch mickey the whole time just to watch his hiarious facial expressions! :D
@ stonegrooved - they did actually play their own instruments, Mickey was taught to play the drums, Davy was always more percussion and vocals, Peter and Mike already knew the guitar - go and have a look at heir interviews for the show and it tells you, there are documentaries out there as well which will give you more info
Yea, don't think they were feeling any pain or inhibition, well....maybe Mike, but then he starts jumping up and down so think they were all high, oh well, I love it!! I have watched so much of them for the past week, think this is now my favorite!!
Davy actually got to sing in his own range on this one instead of pressing into that higher "sappy" register he usually ends up singing. He sounds really good here.
I saw Davy in concert just a few weeks ago. He not only sang this song, he still does his little dance moves. And other than being maybe a bit deeper, his voice is the SAME. Great show. If you get a chance to see him, I highly recommend it. He not only sang great, he was also very funny and very personable afterwards signing autographs.
Davey was always my favorite Monkee he is such a doll in this video & was even up to his death. We lost a great talent when we lost Davey I remember seeing him on The Ed Sullivan Show on 2-9-64 when he appeared with the cast of Oliver. Yes folks that was the same night The Beatles made their first television American debate. RIP Davey! Thanks for sharing the video it brings sweet memories back for me when I was a teenage girl. Cheers: Christine V. Berndt
Taken from a BBC airing in the 80s by the looks of it. I can remember watching this on the BBC during the school holidays of the mid to late 80s. I still have videos of Philip Schofield introducing "The Monkees" from the 'Broom Cupboard!'
@Katylin900, I was in ur spot back in 1998..I was 13 and just got into the Monkees..now I am 25. I still enjoy them every so often, they were a great group, had music videos, the series was hilarious..my fav was Micky..still is!! His goofiness is the best!
I have this song as my alarm tone on my phone, which I use to wake up for school every morning. One Saturday, I had forgotten to take the alarm off, so we woke up at 0600 to Davy singing to us. My friend has loved the Monkees ever since. We started sobbing in study hall the day Davy died.
Thanks for the info. Didn't know it was called "The Skate." He did it so well, didn't he??? I just don't see any men these days with that clean, adorable, look, What a great face!
i saw him in concert the same month he died and he was so lively and funny and friendly, i was in school when my mom told me he died and I cried for about an hour. I MISS YOU DAVY :(
@Sariel777 so true! I saw them perform at the Greek theater this summer & were excellent! the audience were on their feet, dancing in the aisles, it was so much FUN! Davy still dances a lot & show was one of the most exciting i've ever seen!
This one reminds me of the 6 months that I spent wearing yarn tassle necklaces that I made for myself so that I could look like Davy. Am I ashamed? Probably not as much as I should be!
Fav parts well the whole thing but I love 0:01 Davy laughing at Micky, and 0:32 Micky freaking out in the back there, 0:20 Davy's like should I do the dance, I know they want me to,0:45 Dem Dance MovesO-O, 0:53 Davy's point, kick, snap, 0:57 THe thing Mickys doing 1:21 THat little lean/snap Davy's doin, 1:39 When the camera person is like let me soom so you could see this adorableness, 1:43 The rest of The Monkees just groovin, 0:10 Oh and lets not forget Peters clap, My most fav part-1:28
@2011lamb Yep. That's the way it was in those days. Back then I didn't think anything of it because I was too young and naive to know any better. As I got older and listened to a lot of songs from back then I realized exactly what they were saying.
@6547811 nah, I've not tampered with it. It was taped off tv nearly 30 years ago so maybe the player was running a little slower at the time ...or perhaps the tape has stretched a bit over the years. ...I've never noticed tbh but, then again, I've never compared it to another recording
i'd love to get a copy of that necklace he wore some of the time as seen here :) i know if i can find the right beads i could do up a copy of the blue/white 1 he wore sometimes too :) anyway i actually like this song it's quite nice really :)
@RedTurt1 In the track Band 6 off of headquarters is a bit of his tempo lesson on the drums. If you see the final episode of season one of the monkees you see them as how they look on the back of that album in the bit where davy tells you it is the last show of the season; they took a second away from that album's recording studio sessions for that message clip to be patched on that episode which looks like it was done a few months earlier by davy's hair cut.
I knew David Jones for a very long time and he was the most caring, supportive, dedicated also loyal person I have ever known. He was one of my dearest friends, and I will of course miss him. Let his music and legacy live on with other future generations.

Axl Rose stole it.

micky's making happy faces lol
My heart broke when I heard you were gone. RIP dear Davy. You were one of a kind. xo
This song wasn't released as a single in 1967. Pop radio DJs played it anyway.

and MIke is saying, "I am so bored, I am going to do silly things in the background to amuse myself." just one more reason I loves me some Nez.
Davy was a cherished and loved man! i miss him so much!
This is a cute song. I liked both the bubble gum stuff and the more artisitic.....they could do both, thats why they were as terrific as they were.
Well, Mike did call him "the world's best-looking midget" in concert, LOL
Very cool! :)
OMG, HE IS SO CUTE! XD

Although Michael is my favorite, I loved Davy Much stronger in the beginning. Best Wishes to you Davy, We love you. Krys Manchette
I don't get it. Is her name "Dolay-Ronday-Ronday-Dolay-Ron-Ron"? Because that would be enough to give any young girl emotional problems.
Baahhahahahah i love Micky!
Davy Jones: My first love!
I feel a crush coming on!!
@2011lamb Yep. That's the way it was in those days. Back then I didn't think anything of it because I was too young and naive to know any better. As I got older and listened to a lot of songs from back then I realized exactly what they were saying.
I am in love with Davy.

@Sariel777 sometimes tv shows sped up the programmes just a little back in the 60's, so that they could fit in a few more adverts.
