I love your videos. I’m a plus size full figured black woman and maybe people would think we have very little in common. And people constantly think fat people don’t exercise and don’t diet. I have been dieting and exercising my whole life and have a very different eating disorder and a lot of trauma and addiction to food. Not sure where I’m going with this. Other than Thank you and I see me and I see you!❤️

Love this. The last few years I put on weight during COVID. I was like ok this is what my body wants to do right now. After it came off when it wanted to I realized that on some level, my body was protecting me during that time. So I thank it and keep learning from it.

I am so sorry for not seeing this and not responding earlier. I know exactly what you mean. Really appreciate your meaningful perspective. Many times I have felt guilt that I could somewhat “conceal” my issues with food - somehow it made me feel like I was cheating or getting away with something. Even now I sometimes anticipate that someone may assume that I am “normal” when in all reality I was always have to be aware of my demons and do what I can to keep them at bay.

I thought this was a great video, and a great reminder. I remember telling myself "it's ok to be hungry" and I continually tell myself that not every day is Thanksgiving. I don't need to feel that full after each meal. It's not healthy. I am going to get The Rules of Normal Eating and look into RTT. One of the hardest parts of my eating is trying to predict what I want. Some mornings I want nothing, other times its Athletic Greens, and sometimes I'm just hungry. I know I need to prepare tasty healthy food otherwise it's not going to be a good day. I'm at the point where if I eat something my body doesn't like it goes into survival mode and shuts down as much as possible. For example, if I eat a sandwich I need to lie down and close my eyes because I feel terrible. My body doesn't want regular bread anymore. And I can go from "I'm fine... I'm good... Just going about my day." to "FEED ME NOW!!!!" and want to rip my arm off and eat it and then devour whatever is in the house. And it's not PMS! I know that dehydration plays a role in my massive hunger and I *try* to keep drinking water all day. Another hard part is what you touched on. I identify as an eater. I love food. I write about food. I love learning new foods, new recipes. I'm a recipe tester for well known cookbook authors and so on.... So, how do I change how I eat when it's so interwoven with who I am? (A lot of the healthy/specialty writers I find sanctimonious.) I will say in regards to glucose - heck yes! If I make a smoothie I make sure it's mostly vegetables and protein with fruit for flavor because only fruit would be a sugar spike. i.e. frozen cauliflower (tasteless)+cooked lentils (tasteless protein that isn't powder-y)+mac nut milk+frozen raspberries+hemp/flax...the thing tastes like raspberries but has a lot more fiber and protein. I do think I need workout intensity in my life to keep my lungs open and drop weight/cellulite. That's just where my body is right now. But, you can't exercise off a bad diet/lifestyle so that's more important. I'm rambling and wrote a lot again! Just like last week. Bye for now! Love to you and I'm glad you're doing good after the hurricane!

I know exactly what you mean with that sudden hunger! That especially happens to me the day after a poor nights sleep or when I’m stressed. I’m convinced it’s cortisol. That’s my best guess at least. Always so great to connect with you in the comments and get your take! Thank you for your kind words 🥰🥰🥰

This is a great video and I love your honesty. Everyone is so different. I know what foods makes me feel bad, and that is bread, potatoes and anything with sugar. I have a few hereditary issues related to high iron, so no red meat, which is fine, and I don't miss it and I have high lipoprotein, also hereditary and my bad cholesterol is always higher around 220. I refuse to take a statin at this point even though cardiologist recommends low dose. I may consider it if wasn't hereditary. I eat healthy for the most part and at 64, I eat my emotions at times or if boredom sets in. Similar to you, low impact works best for me and I do lots of walking and I am considering a celluciser, thanks to you. LOL. I will look into the RTT. So true that we all need to be intoned to our bodies and have blood work that goes deeper than the normal panel done annually. I've watched several of your videos and I'm so glad I found you! You are a gem and don't change your style at all! Hugs

I live in Sarasota, and Hurricane Ian didn’t do too much damage (just lots of leaves and branches everywhere!) Fortunately,I didn’t lose power and internet in my house when the hurricane hit! But A LOT of people lost power and internet in the city I live in! Glad you and your family survived the hurricane,my family and I did as well ❤️
I have been hard on myself with how I looked for YEARS since I was 12 or 13 years old! And all that did was made me over eat and shame myself for doing that…. the cycle would continue over and over!
I now listen to my body if I am really hungry or not. I think to myself “Am I really hungry,or is it out of boredom?” Or “Is it an emergency for me to eat?” If the answer is yes, then I’ll eat. If the answer is no,then I’ll do something else. I heard of intuitive eating before, and for me that is more of something that I can do as it’s more of a lifestyle and NOT a quick fix diet! I weighed myself today not because of shaming myself if I gained weight, but for health reasons of why I need to really THINK if I need to eat or not.
I gained and lost weight a few times in my life. I originally lost 90 pounds from late August of 2021 to mid March of last year, but gained some back from personal family issues that caused me stress! And that stress unfortunately made me crave more junk food and carbs! But now everything in my personal life has gotten better, and I am back to getting healthy physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually ❤️

We are so lucky to be spared by Ian, aren’t we? Glad you and your family are ok, too! Your story is so similar
to mine. The shame and self criticism kept me stuck - I also was stuck in a black and white thinking mentality. “I’m all good or I’m all bad.” One poor decision would send me into a tailspin. So glad you are finding a way that works for you - it’s so rewarding and provides so much hope for the future!

@Olya, yes, it is! Takes a healthy balance of proper nutrition (every body requires different fuel intake, some less than others ) and movement- but the former accounts for 90% ! I managed to lose what I wanted to lose, even at age 60 (when it’s deemed impossible lol)- so if I can, anybody can! Don’t give up, keep experimenting!

      Like waaay too many nuts!
I also cut off eating after about 8 PM and threw in a little bit of intermittent fasting -meaning I waited until lunch the next day-that was easy for me and I still had cream in my coffee in the morning.
So yes I did cut back what I ate, overall (which my body did not need anyways!) .
But please let me share that after months and months of doing this, the body adapts and it gets easier and easier!
These days I only do TAM 2x week ( mat only) and I throw in two other days of mild/mod cardio or long walks, weather permitting. That’s it. I used to work out many more days and much harder.

Sounds like your body could also use some calmer types of movement. ❤️ Walking for an extra hour each day can bring a lot of stress relief, will burn fat because it’s a low intensity exercise that can be fueled by beta oxidation, and might not make you ravenous in the same way high intensity workouts can.

I bought the Levels CGM - mainly because it was convenient, comes with an app to tie to your food etc. It was $400. Expensive I know. But I didnt have to go through the hassle of going to a doctor, convincing that doctor to prescribe me a CGM, and go through that hassle. The levels CGM is very easy to use - but still cannot say if it is worth it just, yet. Cannot wait to share more! This week I will take an even deeper dive into blood sugar.
