I love your videos. I’m a plus size full figured black woman and maybe people would think we have very little in common. And people constantly think fat people don’t exercise and don’t diet. I have been dieting and exercising my whole life and have a very different eating disorder and a lot of trauma and addiction to food. Not sure where I’m going with this. Other than Thank you and I see me and I see you!❤️
Love this. The last few years I put on weight during COVID. I was like ok this is what my body wants to do right now. After it came off when it wanted to I realized that on some level, my body was protecting me during that time. So I thank it and keep learning from it.
I am so sorry for not seeing this and not responding earlier. I know exactly what you mean. Really appreciate your meaningful perspective. Many times I have felt guilt that I could somewhat “conceal” my issues with food - somehow it made me feel like I was cheating or getting away with something. Even now I sometimes anticipate that someone may assume that I am “normal” when in all reality I was always have to be aware of my demons and do what I can to keep them at bay.
I am hearing more and more women talk about how intense workouts just increases stress and thereby less effective.
Me, too! It will be interesting to see if we see the workout paradigm completely overhauled!
Yes I have always had this suspicious feeling. I used to follow a lot of gym influences who kind of looked down on pilates or mat workouts so I thought th gym was the ultimate. I couldn't get rid of the pouch. It wasn't until I started pilates reformers and TAM did I look the way I wanted.
@@Mary-ui4qq I am with you! It’s been a big lesson for me to trust my instincts. I’m so glad we took the jump!
Thank you ❤ your videos have so much value. Your amazing!
I love your videos so much. It is as if we are living the same life. Thank you for sharing all you do.
Lisa. Thank you. So encouraging to relate and read your comment.
I Love you! Love your words and tips! So raw and down to earth and no BS! x
Thank you, Amanda. It has been such a healthy outlet for me. Love that you see my videos that way as my primary intent is to be 100% authentic. It will always feel a bit vulnerable, but so worth it, especially to receive warm feedback like yours.
@@RundownwithRachel SO WORTH IT!!
Love all your videos❤ when you talk about blood sugar it reminded me of Steve Zim ‘s book Superhero Nutrition. You always have interesting topics. Thank you
Oooo please do a video about your glucose monitor and your findings!!!! That will be super interesting! X
I cannot wait! I finally put the CGM on today and will be reporting back soon!
Thank God you and your family are well. Thank you for your transperacy. It's a journey...I am there with your sister. 🥰
One hellofa journey. Thank you, Val 🥰
i LOVE low impact workouts only now - low impact + rebounding. and low impact does not mean low intensity 😉
Yes! Amen to that! It ain’t easy!
I thought this was a great video, and a great reminder. I remember telling myself "it's ok to be hungry" and I continually tell myself that not every day is Thanksgiving. I don't need to feel that full after each meal. It's not healthy. I am going to get The Rules of Normal Eating and look into RTT. One of the hardest parts of my eating is trying to predict what I want. Some mornings I want nothing, other times its Athletic Greens, and sometimes I'm just hungry. I know I need to prepare tasty healthy food otherwise it's not going to be a good day. I'm at the point where if I eat something my body doesn't like it goes into survival mode and shuts down as much as possible. For example, if I eat a sandwich I need to lie down and close my eyes because I feel terrible. My body doesn't want regular bread anymore. And I can go from "I'm fine... I'm good... Just going about my day." to "FEED ME NOW!!!!" and want to rip my arm off and eat it and then devour whatever is in the house. And it's not PMS! I know that dehydration plays a role in my massive hunger and I *try* to keep drinking water all day. Another hard part is what you touched on. I identify as an eater. I love food. I write about food. I love learning new foods, new recipes. I'm a recipe tester for well known cookbook authors and so on.... So, how do I change how I eat when it's so interwoven with who I am? (A lot of the healthy/specialty writers I find sanctimonious.) I will say in regards to glucose - heck yes! If I make a smoothie I make sure it's mostly vegetables and protein with fruit for flavor because only fruit would be a sugar spike. i.e. frozen cauliflower (tasteless)+cooked lentils (tasteless protein that isn't powder-y)+mac nut milk+frozen raspberries+hemp/flax...the thing tastes like raspberries but has a lot more fiber and protein. I do think I need workout intensity in my life to keep my lungs open and drop weight/cellulite. That's just where my body is right now. But, you can't exercise off a bad diet/lifestyle so that's more important. I'm rambling and wrote a lot again! Just like last week. Bye for now! Love to you and I'm glad you're doing good after the hurricane!
I know exactly what you mean with that sudden hunger! That especially happens to me the day after a poor nights sleep or when I’m stressed. I’m convinced it’s cortisol. That’s my best guess at least. Always so great to connect with you in the comments and get your take! Thank you for your kind words 🥰🥰🥰
@@RundownwithRachel I think you're 100% right.
This is a great video and I love your honesty. Everyone is so different. I know what foods makes me feel bad, and that is bread, potatoes and anything with sugar. I have a few hereditary issues related to high iron, so no red meat, which is fine, and I don't miss it and I have high lipoprotein, also hereditary and my bad cholesterol is always higher around 220. I refuse to take a statin at this point even though cardiologist recommends low dose. I may consider it if wasn't hereditary. I eat healthy for the most part and at 64, I eat my emotions at times or if boredom sets in. Similar to you, low impact works best for me and I do lots of walking and I am considering a celluciser, thanks to you. LOL. I will look into the RTT. So true that we all need to be intoned to our bodies and have blood work that goes deeper than the normal panel done annually. I've watched several of your videos and I'm so glad I found you! You are a gem and don't change your style at all! Hugs
How grateful I am for your kind words and encouragement. Thank you, Miriam ❤️❤️❤️
I live in Sarasota, and Hurricane Ian didn’t do too much damage (just lots of leaves and branches everywhere!) Fortunately,I didn’t lose power and internet in my house when the hurricane hit! But A LOT of people lost power and internet in the city I live in! Glad you and your family survived the hurricane,my family and I did as well ❤️
I have been hard on myself with how I looked for YEARS since I was 12 or 13 years old! And all that did was made me over eat and shame myself for doing that…. the cycle would continue over and over!
I now listen to my body if I am really hungry or not. I think to myself “Am I really hungry,or is it out of boredom?” Or “Is it an emergency for me to eat?” If the answer is yes, then I’ll eat. If the answer is no,then I’ll do something else. I heard of intuitive eating before, and for me that is more of something that I can do as it’s more of a lifestyle and NOT a quick fix diet! I weighed myself today not because of shaming myself if I gained weight, but for health reasons of why I need to really THINK if I need to eat or not.
I gained and lost weight a few times in my life. I originally lost 90 pounds from late August of 2021 to mid March of last year, but gained some back from personal family issues that caused me stress! And that stress unfortunately made me crave more junk food and carbs! But now everything in my personal life has gotten better, and I am back to getting healthy physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually ❤️
We are so lucky to be spared by Ian, aren’t we? Glad you and your family are ok, too! Your story is so similar
to mine. The shame and self criticism kept me stuck - I also was stuck in a black and white thinking mentality. “I’m all good or I’m all bad.” One poor decision would send me into a tailspin. So glad you are finding a way that works for you - it’s so rewarding and provides so much hope for the future!
I love your videos, Rachel! You're the reason I am doing TAM. I would love to check out your RTT review video, but it says that it is private. Can you please advise? Thank you! So glad you are all safe!
Thank you, Kathy!!! Sorry about that! The link should work now ❤️❤️❤️
@@RundownwithRachel Thanks so much!
Thank you for talking about blood sugar. I’m a registered nurse and glucose levels are so important for everyone, not just diabetics. Love your videos! Keep them up!
Thank you, Reena 🥰🥰🥰
This is so great! Thank you so much for all this amazing info. I might look into the continuous glucose monitor. I don’t consume any sugar, and very little carbs (mainly fruits and veggies). My Dr thinks I have low quality insulin, so insulin still appears to be high. Super fun! 😅
Lilly’s chocolate is amazing and sugar free.
I just put my CGM on and it is PAINLESS! So excited to learn how I process food. I imagine that will be so helpful with what you are going through. This video was also helpful in learning that peoples insulin levels can be driven by genetics a great deal especially started around the 11:30 mark ruclips.net/video/eHJXh5zvOHU/видео.html
Thank you! I am adding that to my list!
Rachel!!! Looking good lady! Thank you for sharing.
P.S. I know this is all about more than superficial, but on a superficial note, your arms look so fabulous…Tracy arms..I noticed it a couple vids back but didn’t comment until now. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you, Jillybean! I am all about superficial and that made my day. I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to look good. As I get further into Continuity she has so much more focus on arms - cannot see where it takes me.
I still can't find what works. Weight training and HIITs made me so ravenous ALL DAY LONG, but I saw relatively quick results. Then I tried TA streaming and it was good for stress relief and no hunger issues, BUT I didn't see any major changes in my body in 4 mos. Ughh...I want body change without stress and hunger. Is that even possible???
@Olya, yes, it is! Takes a healthy balance of proper nutrition (every body requires different fuel intake, some less than others ) and movement- but the former accounts for 90% ! I managed to lose what I wanted to lose, even at age 60 (when it’s deemed impossible lol)- so if I can, anybody can! Don’t give up, keep experimenting!
@@Ayyeliki So encouraging! Good for you Angela!
@@Ayyeliki Hi Angela, congratulations on the weight loss!! What did you do to lose it?
@@ruth.rochelle , Ty and honestly I simply used an app to LOG what I ate! Within 24 hrs I realized I was FORGETTING how much I was snacking and just eating when I “ felt like it”, lol.
Like waaay too many nuts!
I also cut off eating after about 8 PM and threw in a little bit of intermittent fasting -meaning I waited until lunch the next day-that was easy for me and I still had cream in my coffee in the morning.
So yes I did cut back what I ate, overall (which my body did not need anyways!) .
But please let me share that after months and months of doing this, the body adapts and it gets easier and easier!
These days I only do TAM 2x week ( mat only) and I throw in two other days of mild/mod cardio or long walks, weather permitting. That’s it. I used to work out many more days and much harder.
Hope this helps!
Sounds like your body could also use some calmer types of movement. ❤️ Walking for an extra hour each day can bring a lot of stress relief, will burn fat because it’s a low intensity exercise that can be fueled by beta oxidation, and might not make you ravenous in the same way high intensity workouts can.
Which CGM did you get and how much was it? Would love a video on it!
I bought the Levels CGM - mainly because it was convenient, comes with an app to tie to your food etc. It was $400. Expensive I know. But I didnt have to go through the hassle of going to a doctor, convincing that doctor to prescribe me a CGM, and go through that hassle. The levels CGM is very easy to use - but still cannot say if it is worth it just, yet. Cannot wait to share more! This week I will take an even deeper dive into blood sugar.
Ug I have gained the 7lbs I lost for summer and I feel horrible. I need to lose 10lbs in total and I keep going up and down. Its like a horrible cycle. I starve myself and workout then get so tired from the daily hard workouts, I stop and eat the fridge for weeks.
Thanks for the share, I feel there has to be a middle ground. I think your tips may help.
I know exactly how that feels. That’s exactly what I experienced. And it’s so difficult to get out of that bc you are so convinced that if you just “get it right” this next time you will be out of it. You may be surprised to find that if you can get your hunger back in balance the weight won’t be an issue. That’s been the case for me and it’s been a godsend.
@@RundownwithRachel I bought the glucose book on audible. Eye opening! Thanks so much for the tip. I have implemented the technique from lunch time today.
I commend you for doing last Sundays video - I was a nervous wreck here ( Tampa) and couldn’t concentrate on anything, even my workouts went OTD !
I’m thankful 🙏🏻 but nearly cry daily with the stories and videos from down south, ugh! 🥹🫣
Food shmood, lol !
That was so tough. What was so crazy about it is how I didn’t realize just how stressed I was until I was seeking comfort again. It was a “oh i remember this…”. So glad you and your family are safe there. I’m beginning to believe the Indian Blessing is a real thing - or at least I hope it is! How tragic. Nothing puts our blessings in perspective like this. Always great to hear from you, Angela ❤️
