rest in peace robbie steinhardt the Violinist and vocalist of kansas who passed away on july 17, 2021 !!!!!!!!!!! "SONG FOR AMERICA" by kansas should be the new national anthem of the USA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! who thinks KANSAS BELONGS IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME ??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We saw Kansas (or what is left of them) play this song 11 days before your reaction at Summit Park in Cincinnati, OH. Those were better days. Kansas is a very honest band, and the lyrics to this song are no exception. You both appeared to nail the truth in the lyrics, and it appeared to resonate with your shared experience. Overall a positive take.
Song For America Kansas Virgin land of forest green, dark and stormy plains, here all life abounds Sunlit valley, mountain fields, unseen in the rain, here all life abounds No man rules this land, no human hand has soiled this paradise Waiting patiently, so much to see, so rich in Earth's delights Painted desert, sequined sky, stars that fill the night, here all life abounds Rivers flowing to the sea, sunshine pure and bright, here all life abounds No man rules this land, no human hand has soiled this paradise Waiting patiently, so much to see, so rich in Earth's delights So the maiden lies in waiting for the sails to reach the shore Land of beauty and abunance, innocent, you opened wide your door Wanderers found the waiting treasure, full of gifts beyond their measure Milk and honey for our pleasure Across the sea there came a multitude, sailing ships upon the wave Filled with visions of Utopia and the freedom that they crave Ravage, plunder, see no wonder, rape and kill and tear asunder Chop the forest, plow it under Highways scar the mountainsides, buildings to the sky, people all around So we rule this land, and her we stand upon our paradise Dreaming of a place, our weary race is ready to rise
I totally agree with some of the comments. Bass playing incredible. Phil ehart is one of the cleanest tightest drummers ever. Don't know if you have done it ,and I think I have mentioned it before .you should do journey from Maria bronn. Some really awesome drumming their. Because Kansas's songs are so long that's probably what kept them off the radio. But these reaction videos lets people get a chance to see how great they are.
Enjoying your reactions! Wonderful job folks! This song is fantastic, but not necessarily a happy tune lyrically. It talks of a land that was beautiful, and nurtured by indigenous people, and got trampled and run over for its riches and space by Europeans, which creates what we have now, which is wishing for a beautiful unpaved place that is not ruined. Deep song, and musically flawless! Great reactions from your page. I enjoy seeing people hear the music for the first time I am familiar with. Keep up the great work! Namaste
My favorite Kansas song! Perfection both musically and lyrically. I agree with Savio that the keyboard playing is the highlight. Steve Walsh is often talked about as the great lead singer, and deservedly so. But he is also one of the greatest keyboard players of the prog genre and of his generation!
@@michaelbaucom4019 You're absolutely right! I just wanted to give a shout out for Steve because his keyboard playing is so underrated. He also carried the torch on keys in a great way after Kerry left the band.
American Progressive Rock and Roll. A total sound experience. Thank you for your reaction. Always a great value from Enoma and Kansas. If you ever get a chance try this song from the same album. The Devil Game It's worth a listen. Best Wishes.
The bass guitar playing by David Hope in this song is phenomenal!
Music doesn’t get better than this! One of the GOAT bands.
Kansas is so technically sound. Another great song by them. Great reaction!
How are they not in the hall of fame.

Kansas? Not just music. A way of life. Warned us about the death of mother nature 40 years ago.
Phil Ehart IS the most underrated drummer in Rock History!!!
Agreed!
Song for America again was written well over 40 yrs ago. How well did they describe how we fucked it up

Kerry Levgren wrote all these early songs and is a very underated pianist. Thank you god for bringing his music and talent to the world.
Great reaction. The entire album is fantastic
Song For America
Kansas
Virgin land of forest green, dark and stormy plains, here all life abounds
Sunlit valley, mountain fields, unseen in the rain, here all life abounds
No man rules this land, no human hand has soiled this paradise
Waiting patiently, so much to see, so rich in Earth's delights
Painted desert, sequined sky, stars that fill the night, here all life abounds
Rivers flowing to the sea, sunshine pure and bright, here all life abounds
No man rules this land, no human hand has soiled this paradise
Waiting patiently, so much to see, so rich in Earth's delights
So the maiden lies in waiting for the sails to reach the shore
Land of beauty and abunance, innocent, you opened wide your door
Wanderers found the waiting treasure, full of gifts beyond their measure
Milk and honey for our pleasure
Across the sea there came a multitude, sailing ships upon the wave
Filled with visions of Utopia and the freedom that they crave
Ravage, plunder, see no wonder, rape and kill and tear asunder
Chop the forest, plow it under
Highways scar the mountainsides, buildings to the sky, people all around
So we rule this land, and her we stand upon our paradise
Dreaming of a place, our weary race is ready to rise
Finally!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!

A few Kansas recommendations. All the World; Icarus-Borne on Wings of Steel; Curtain of Iron; No Room For a Stranger
Yeah!! Love it
I dig that album cover artwork; it's like the last thing you see the instant before your life is about to permanently change!
The version off of Always Never the Same with the LSO is amazing, you should give that a try sometime.
Listen to the Wall from Kansas, One of the best lyrics I've ever heard!!!
