      100%! I'm surprised we haven't seen them do it yet but I'm hoping with all of this adding to the CRF lineup that they've been doing lately, that a new CRF400F / CRF450F is on the drawing board. Not everyone wants to spend $10,000 on the current CRF450 platform but they want more than what this CRF250F has to offer.

      @@HondaProKevin Absolutely. At 41 years old I don't feel like hitting doubles on the track but I do want a bike that has a good adjustable fork on the front and a little more motor than the 250 has. That said, the 250f is still an absolutely great bike for the price in this day and age.

    I have this bike. I bought it last year. It’s my first motorcycle and it’s great. Gas mileage is fantastic. My second ride was the longest so far, 75 miles, and I still had fuel.
    The simplicity of it is a big deal. There’s not much maintenance other than oil/filter changes and keeping the air filter clean/oiled. And the schedule is based on miles (instead of hours) and in increments of 750 miles just for oil changes. Other things last even longer.
    I’m 6’3 barefoot, and I feel comfortable on it. Although I did buy aftermarket handlebar risers.
    The handlebars suck. They bend easily. You will bend them if you’re new to motorcycles and/or prone to falling over while on rough terrain. Replacement better aluminum bars are $80-100.
    Also, the brake and clutch levers are likely to take damage for the same reasons above. Levers are inexpensive. Less than $20.
    I also have a 250 SXF that I bought this year. The power difference between them is significant. And the SXF sound is more mean and aggressive. But the Honda can still move its own ass in a hurry.
    Don’t expect much in the way of landing jumps. The suspension just can’t take it. I tried on small jumps on a trail, and I also went to an MX track (the reason I bought the SXF). Landing any sort of jump higher than something like 10 inches maybe is going to be a struggle. You’ll be absorbing a lot of the landing probably in your legs because the suspension compresses so easily. It’ll wear you out.
    Odd that the model in the video has a key light. Mine doesn’t. And yes I’ve drained my battery by leaving the key in. More than once.
    Not having an odometer sucks. They really should have included that. You’ll have to track distance with GPS apps on your phone and just keep a log.
    Overall, great bike. I don’t expect I’ll ever sell it because it’s so reliable and I can always ride it on trails. Having a motocross bike for track days is fun, but comparatively it’s a lot more work to own. Trail bike for the win.

      @@sevay696 He's still going to love it. It's tough as nails. I recently took mine back to an MX track just for shits and giggles, and it's still a load of fun. Follow the maintenance schedule in the manual. The first oil change is relatively quick for break-in. The rest of them are every 600 miles. I use Rever on my phone to keep track. Change the oil, keep the air filter clean, and lube the bearings once in a while, and you won't have any issues.

    This bike is great for a full size adult wanting to hit the trails with their kids. Power delivery is strong and smooth. More potent than you would think. Definitely wish it came with better bars, some hand guards, a head light and blacked out wheels. But it’s a bullet proof package…
    This bike is to much for my 5’7” wife when trails get technical. But the CRF125F big wheel is to small. I’m picking up a Kawasaki KLX140R F for her next week which still has the full size adult wheels but the seat height is a little lower at 33.9” and it weighs 218.2 lbs which just make for a perfect fit for her. The only drawback of
    The Kawasaki is that it’s not fuel injected like the Honda CRFs excluding the little 50cc which bare min needs an electric start added…

    I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these bikes. I've always wanted an XR250R, but this makes me raise my eyebrow. I'm a very experienced woods rider and have ridden more bikes than I can count. My current ride is a CRF450X, and it's a great bike, but maintenance is high, and I don't really find myself using all of the power available in tight trails. However, where the 450X shines is the suspension, it's wonderful and super forgiving. I'm sure the front forks on the 250F are probably going to suck, but the rest of the bike seems like a good compromise. I would love to see Honda release a "CRF250FX" that has slightly better suspension. More like the KLX300R does. I also owned a 230F for awhile and after some mods to make the suspension better and some gearing and tuning, I really started to like that bike. But I ultimately sold it to pickup the 450X, not for the extra HP, but for the suspension. One thing I would like to point out is that those rear chain tension adjusters have to be the easiest and nicest way of adjusting a chain I have ever dealt with. I remember the old Suzuki PE175 had those and we loved them. Honda should put those on all the trail bikes, they are fantastic.

    I was actually just thinking yesterday it would be cool if they made a 450f! I have a question too
    I currently ride a KLX140rl, and I'm looking at getting a CRF250f, It fits me way better and I like the higher seat hieght
    I am having a bunch of people tell me just to get a race bike because they say I wont really notice in power or speed, other than size.
    Is there any truth behind this, OR would a crf250f be a nice noticeable upgrade in terms of power and speed still?

    I think this is a great bike, but I think there best trail bike we could get now would be to take the CRF300L and strip it down to a headlight, for cost savings and have a CRF300F that was priced between this 250F and a 300L.
    If they made a 450F that would basically require a new engine, unless the 420 engine from the ATVs could fit,

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  2 года назад

      I like where you're going but the only downfall to stripping down a CRF300L to its headlight is that it'll be a porker lol. You might be able to shave off 20-30lbs but then it's still got 30-40lbs over the CRF250F. But if those few pounds don't make a difference to you, it's definitely a feasible option due to how close they are in pricing.
      You're 100% correct there and yeah, the TRX420 engine is a little on the large side to squeeze into a dirtbike chassis so they'd have to develop a new engine.

    • @CynicalDad81

    • @HondaProKevin
      @HondaProKevin  2 года назад

      At your height and being new to riding, this might be a little too tall for you (unless you're a kid and still growing). The CRF125F or CRF125FB might be more up your alley with a lower seat height so you don't have to side saddle it and all of these were built to be dropped time and time again as it's going to happen in the dirt so as long as you don't end up with an unlucky fall - 9 out of 10 times you'll be able to pick it up and keep going. If you'd like to learn more about the CRF125 model lineup, here's a recent video I did on them: ruclips.net/video/k3ItSUgzuuY/видео.html

    Loving my 2023, though I do wish it came with a headlight. I’m completely new to riding but picked it up pretty quickly. It’s been 100% so far, but I’ve only run about three tanks of gas through it. With how I’m riding, it has plenty of power, but that might change in the future.
    I’m not wild about the color scheme either but plan on swapping out the plastics and adding different graphics. Why not, right? 😅

    I would totally buy a CRF 450f or 400f if they made em with lights. This Honda 250f is nice, but for the price, I can see alot of beginners hopping over to something like the Kayo K6 250 that's liquid cooled or the very cheap K4 250 air cooled bike, both come with a headlight and tail light and are cheaper or about the same price when we talk about the $4,999 MSRP on the K6 250.
    Of course, everyone loves the reliability of Hondas and easy to find parts, but for me and many others, cost is important, especially when buying a toy that only gets used maybe 10-12 times a year. I'm sure die-hard riders aren't rushing in to pick up these CRF 250F's anyway, but if you're starting out and the price is no issue, then this is a great starting bike for a teenager or adult. I think it would also be a great step-up bike for a kid who has been on a 125 for a few years and wants to hang with the big boys.
    Anyways, this is a great video and breakdown for anyone questioning their choices. Thank you.
