      LOL i just had this happen to me. Riding hard single track with someone I had never ridden with before. He was on a 2023 KTM 300 xc-w and said to me at the start of the ride: "You think that little bike will make it?". First big hill climb I pick my way up no problem on my 2020 250F, over gnarly rocks and roots, and I get to the top. Im waiting there for like 5 mins for him to get up, so I walk back down the trail a bit and see his ktm off the side of the trail. He looped it and smashed the headlight and tail light and bent his clutch lever LMAO. 5k bike vs 18k bike.

    Great video and riding. I have the same use cases as you except I also have a son who's 15, 5'7" and 135 lbs. I'm comparing this to an x-trainer because I think it would offer more room to grow and I could also use it for harder trails instead of my Husqvarna 501. Did you consider an x-trainer? Also, are you planning to modify the suspension with valving and something like a Hagon or Vonkat shock?

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto  5 месяцев назад

      I hadn't even heard of the x-trainer until you just mentioned it right now. Looks like a really cool bike, fantastic idea. Unfortunately I don't have a beta dealer near me but it looks like it would be badass. The honda was a lot more affordable for me than that would have been though, that's the only downside of the xtrainer. Haven't thought abt doing any suspension work to the crf250f just yet, but depending how much i end up riding it i may opt for that in the future. thanks for the comment ill definitely be going down the xtrainer rabbit hole now lol

    • @chrispoland3524
      @chrispoland3524 5 месяцев назад

      I think it ultimately depends on the type of riding you plan on doing. Coming from the 501, none of the power will be surprising. If the goal is putting around and pushing it every now and then, I think the 250f would be great. Reliable as an anvil, minimal and easy maintenance… really it’ll add to your stable and not increase needed attention for potential maintenance. If you want something slower for gnarly single track where maneuverability is king.. xtrainer. I didn’t feel like the xtrainer was as good going fast but man it could handle

    I really considered purchasing one of these but ended up going with a GPX300FSE. After riding both bikes, I can assure you that there is really no comparison. They are similar in weight, but the GPX is better in every other way. Most of us who have ridden for a while would end up spending a fortune on suspension and motor upgrades for this bike. I have had Honda XR’s for most of my adult life and I can tell you that I’m truly disappointed that they would not include fully adjustable suspension on this bike.

    • @notsoupmoto

      the suspension is nearly identical on the 2002 xr250r and the new crf250f bikes. Both 41mm front forks (conventional style not the modern upside down forks you find on mx bikes)
      and the rear suspension are both pro-link adjustable shocks.
      with the xr250r being 22 years older I'd imagine the new crf250f has a bit better quality just being newer but as far as the suspension technology goes they're nearly the same.
      However I was unable to get specific details on if there have been any key changes to the shock. you'd have to do some more research on it.

    Is this bike a better value than a KTM 300XC? Thx

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto  5 месяцев назад

      Totally depends on what you'll be using it for. The KTM's are quite expensive, however they're purpose built for a certain type of riding that can be very demanding. They're extremely well engineered and from what i've heard, you get every bit of what you pay for it.
      The CRF250F is much more affordable but they aren't really comparable to the KTM enduro bikes. This is an air cooled trail bike that will feel like a tractor compared to the race/enduro bikes which are like sports cars.
      If you're just wanting to putt around and you're somewhat of a beginner looking to develop your skills, I feel like the honda is the better value. You'll end up spending less money now and you can always sell and upgrade later.

    I have a crf230f and I was looking for something with more power and little more grit. Would this be a good pick or should I consider a crf R or something along those lines?

    • @notsoupmoto
      @notsoupmoto  3 месяца назад +1

      If you already have the crf230f and are looking for something with more power then the crf250f wouldn’t be a good idea. The 250f is the updated version of the 230f so basically the same as what you have now.
      You should look at something like a 125 2-stroke, 250 four stroke motocross bike, etc. Honda crf250r or crf250rx depending if you’ll be doing moto or woods respectively.
      A 2-stroke 125 is a really fun bike in my opinion too. Affordable maintenance. Much more power, zippier than the crf230f/250f. It is a 2-stroke motocross bike but still beginner/intermediate friendly. Plus they are fun as hell to ride

    • @notsoupmoto

      Thanks for the comment! The 250F is not super powerful so if you're looking for something that's super snappy and has a lot of power to it then i'd definitely lean more towards a liquid cooled race bike. Depending on what type of riding youre doing (Ex. if woods riding CRF250RX if motocross CRF250R)
      If you've been riding the 150 for a while and feel pretty comfortable on it then you're probably good to move up to an actual race bike at this point. It will feel way different than what you're used to tho so just be ready to take some time to get used to it!
      Have fun!

      I’ve had one for about a year and a half. Facebook Marketplace is a good place to locate a used one.
      This is a good single track bike but it’s not only for beginner riders. I’ve been dirt biking for 57 years.
      Gummy tires are always a good idea on a dirt bike.
      Ground clearance is a problem. Contact Hyperlite Moto for a skidplate and items to raise the suspension.
      Bruce’s Suspension is a good upgrade.
      Barkbusters and a Pro Taper handlebar are good upgrades.
      Top speed is irrelevant to me so I use a two tooth larger rear sprocket which will fit with the stock length chain.
      I run the stock exhaust system. It provides plenty of power without any excessive noise.
      The rear fender is too short and narrow and will cover your back and the seat with mud. Make or buy an extension.
      I hate to have mud cover the cooling fins on an air cooled bike so I made a mud guard attached to the top of the skidplate to prevent that.
      If you run a short clutch lever, the pull becomes a little stiff. Hyperlite Moto has a kit that makes the pull much easier.

    • @easternyellowjacket276

      @@smashhhh4662 The RX and F are worlds apart. The RX is stiff, snappy and tall. The F is lower, soft and mellow. If you ride often and on faster terrain, you might feel as though the F won't allow you to grow into a better rider because it is a trailbike. But a hard core dirt bike like the RX isn't for anyone, and the F is far better suited for casual riding.
