Don't know about using it for a hunting blind, but it sure would make a Luxurious Ice Fishing Shed!
Already on skids, just need a hole in the floor (and a cover), insulation, a propane heater or electric heater and a small battery generator, a small Fridge for the adult beverages.
A cot or mattress for sleeping and you're all set. A trailer to haul it to Lake Erie.
Another Dougified piece of work. Well done. Don't be surprised if your son wants it back!!!
Looking forward to Shed2.0!
I’m sitting on stones, logs, even the ground and here comes Doug building a shangri-la. Well Done!
She said, "That's a lot of trust!"
She was concerned I gave her that much trust! Lol
Beats doing all that work in the woods!
I have to say your planning is meticulous. No last minute things coming up. Always have a good plan on what you need to do and what you need to do it with.
That hunting shed is built better than some houses....your attention to detail comes through again.
I'd like to give live to things that doesnt work for others you have do an excelent job
Another amazing project!
Thanks Chad
Good video, your attention to detail is legendary.
Thank you!
Looking good Doug. Can’t wait to see the finished blind.
Love the build and repurpose of the shed! I started building my blind a week ago! So fun! I didn't worry about getting mine in the shop. It's the getting it out that concerns me! Love the Chanel and so does my son! (He always says there's neighbor Doug!!)
Awesome! Thank you!
Everyone would like to have a “neighbor Doug”! Tim in northern TN
That material looks like the HDPE liner material we use in the oil and gas industry for site spill protection. If you have a company that installs the liners near you they usually end up with lots of scrap material.
My opinion this video and the follow up will be your most viewed for sure!! 👍
Hope so!
You need a 6"5' friend to up that material for you.
I'm very impressed with all the things you know how to do. Most of all, I'm impressed you are retired so young, I think that's great. Wgat did you do for a profession to be able to retire so young, and will you ever do a video on what your job used to be and how you became successful enough to retire early?
Your hunting shack looks like the four hole out houses we had during Desert Storm. Are you finished reading sports page? LOL. Enjoy The Journey - Cheers
Lol,
Yea I’m done reading the sports section. Do you have the news section?
With regards to easing the shed into the garage...all you have to do is keep going until you hear the expense! Great video Doug thumbs up.
Well done Doug only slightly over engineered 😀I only hope you used stainless steel staples 👍and hope it goes out through the door brilliant
Should still put a bead of sealer on the top of the wrap.
Did you consider of putting shingles over the rubber membrane sides?
Adding some rigid foam insulation might make it cozier.
I’m trying to keep it somewhat lighter. Shingles would make it a bit heavier. I still have to get this monster up the hill and through the woods.
Great video Doug. After you finish the inside of your deer blind, I suspect to see a portable power station, heating unit, cot, mini kitchen, TV, and any other creature comfort device that springs into your creative mind. Maybe even a chemical toilet and wiring for lights? 😉
Yet another great project, Doug! 👍
Great job Doug and Autumn but, where was Adam? 😀
He stopped over for a bit to help.
Most people don’t know you had to edit this video twice haha
Yes, stupid learning curves!!!
Doug.... mount a small propane grill in your blind ... you'll always have heat and if you put aluminum foil down to catch the grease before it burns there will never be any smoke to alert the game.... Used in many a duck/deer blind in the midwest...
Good morning great video and as always no cutting corners and doing it right even though it’s just a out building
Thanks Doug
Thanks 👍
You need to make a video on making those Dollie’s .i need a set of those
They were actually pretty easy to make.
You should have seen the trailer ramp I made with boat keel rollers. No skags digging in and zero friction when loading.
This is an awesome project; can't wait to see it finished!!!
You and me both!
We spent our youth hunting from makeshift (pallet scrap), tree stands, or sitting on a log. Ground or elevated blinds were not common. Boy, what a change! A blind and a heater makes a day in the woods much less miserable. Nice blind! My personally owned property isn't big enough to be walking around and hoping to move deer. The farm (owned by all of us siblings) would just drive deer into other properties. Nice blind!
This week with Norm and This Old Shed!
lol, thanks!
Looking good Doug - you should get Adam to be your gopher since you help him all the time. Just saying - Stay safe.
Really enjoyed the video Dough, excellent job as usual, better than our old house!
Glad you enjoyed it
MAN!….You mentioned roofers seal and my hands got black on them!!😮. Nice big blind. Heater??
Not yet. Probably just a propane buddy heater.
Nice project with the rubber protection on the exterior. You said you got the windows from a building trades store I shop at the local Habitat for Humanity resale store. Can’t wait to see your ideas for the interior. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe
Well done!
Heck yes! Cool to see it getting another chance at life. Make sure it doesn’t grown any taller before you have to get it back outside 😂
Yea, no kidding. I think I’m gonna have to drag it out!
Wow that blind will be the bomb! First off my hats off to Autumn. You both did an outstanding job. If I’d of done that there’d be a second video on the door entry repair. I have a buddy in northern MN. He’s an ice fisherman. Let me tell they go all out on their ice or fishing houses. We’re talking flat screens, microwaves bunks et cetra. All the comforts of home. What creeps me out are all the pick ups setting in the ice. That’s undoubtedly thick thick ice. See you in the next episode.
No thanks!! Ice fishing is for someone braver than me!!
You go that right brother. One thought, I know that wood isn’t cheap and I’m sure the rubber products are not either. That said I’d run the wood all the way down the corners to protect your work and your investment of the waterproofing barriers you so professionally installed. Please don’t take this as criticism, I’m just trying to protect the corners, because things happen. Thanks Doug!
@@jimwiskus8862 hey Jim, I’m already ahead of ya. I couldn’t stand the way it looked so I ran it down all the way on both sides. You will see it in the next ground blind video.
Appreciate your input!!
I knew I could count on you! Beauty never comes cheap. 😂
Nice job Doug
Did you say $158 for A box of 50 10" Timberock screws? They are $50 at Lowes.
Not one floor jack or 2 floor jacks but 3? Lol looking good, i can see a wood stove in the future.. looks good as usual
Looking good so far!
Thanks!
Insulation. Play wood. Maybe Vinyl siidling like little house Gun rack and selves
Its looking good Doug! Thanks for the caulking tip too. Im guessing thats where im sleeping next time i come out…?
If that’s where you want to sleep. You will miss the cat though.
Roof cement will eat up rubber roofing. Awesome blind though.
Another very interesting and informative video Doug. It is built like a brick s#*t house. If I were you I would consider getting some shades for the windows because the sun coming in when you are bow hunting in the early part of the season may really make that building overly warm and uncomfortable. You don't have to pull them all the way down just enough to block some of the sun. Stay safe, healthy and warm. Bill H from Cranberry Township
Great advice and techniques! You must have years of experience perfecting the detailed process of keeping your caulk poker clean.
Yes I do!
Nice video, as usual
I'm not familiar with the ice and water guard product you're using, but I'm curious as to why you didn't use Tyvek house wrap?
It is not 100% waterproof. It’s a woven material.
I'm guessing between that and the corner boards that you're not planning on any siding for it?
🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Doug - Random Question: Have you done a video on how you store and maintain your outdoor Christmas lights? I was thinking about this the other day and figured you of all folks would have a good system and it would be interesting to see.
My wife takes care of all the Christmas decorations. She keeps everything in clear totes. That way she can color code them visually and stack them nicely in our basement.
Are you going to leave the exterior black?
Mainly, but with some graffiti enhancements
I have a Polaris Assault matrix with the 7s, do you still ride?
Winters have gotten shorter here every year. Wasn’t worth the hassle for a couple rides a year.
caulk poker... lol i caught what you did there. nice one.
Lol
How do you have time for these projects ? Considering how much time you nhave to spend teaching/helping that pesty next door neighbor..🤣😂 .....
Why go the extra mile when you can go an extra hundred miles.
So, where's Adam???
Banging his head on his shelter.
TL;DW
That is a man cave.
wipe your caulk poker
Exactly!
