Hello Doug just an idea for you. You should be able to use only the blower of your gas furnace to circulate the air that the heat produced by you pellet stove it could be better to even out the heat in the three area of you building and maybe save a bit of pellets. Maybe do a comparison test between what you demonstrate in your video and my suggestion . Best regard from Chambly near Montréal, Québec

I run a Harman P38. It’s the older version of the p43. The easiest way to clean the pipe is to use a battery operated leaf blower and blow air into the pipe from inside the stove behind the fines box. I put a towel in to block the air and make sure it all goes up the pipe and doesn’t get dust everywhere. I stopped using a brush all together. I’ve been doing that for years. Harman makes the most reliable stoves. My p38 was made in 1997 and has never had a part replaced. Impressive.

If the top of the stove doesn't get hot (or if you fill it when it's off/cold), an easier way to fill the hopper would be to set the bag on top with a side hanging over into it, then cut the bottom of that side open. You'll only need to pick it up and dump a small portion of the bag at the end... Less spillage too.

The price tag seems excessive for a firebox with a college degree and a blower motor but it all comes down to whether it improves your regular enjoyment of your property. As long as the low maintenance and safety features meet expectations it could be a good purchase.

I like that you went with Harman. I plan on either a pellet stove or propane for my 30×56 pole building have not decided yet . No matter what you probably should leave it run all the time. I burn firewood in my house and it's messy!

I was influenced into buying a pellet stove about 10 years ago for the shop side of my building. It does not get used much but it seems to be the ticket for me. I have no firewood available without purchasing. Mine does not have the big ash drawer that yours does so mine requires frequent cleaning.
Overall, I am pleased with my stove.

Doug that's a really nice unit. You are probably going to enjoy sitting around shooting the bull in front of it. It seems like a really straightforward installation. They also have little fans that you sit on top of the stove that run from the heat of the stove. I saw one on Mike Morgan's channel. Anyway, stay safe, healthy and warm. I'll be interested to see what your fuel usage rate will be. If you went through a bag a day, 1 ton is 50 days worth. At $300 a ton, that's $6 a day. I don't imagine you'll have it lit every day, or that you'll use 40 pounds a day most days. That makes your fuel cost pretty reasonable. I am curious about the access to the breaker panel. The NEC specifies that electrical panels must have a minimum clearance of 30 inches horizontally and 36 inches in front of the panel. Not that you're likely to have an inspection done any time soon :)

You have all the ductwork to circulate and have an even heat in all rooms. Or hook it up to your house ductwork. I like that pellet stoves use a waste stream of manufacture to produce heat. I like how clean pellet stoves are. No bark dust and bugs. But I have access to so much wood I just can’t justify not burning firewood. I love wood heat either way.

my back 40. I wind up cutting up the trees any way because they block my trails. Why not put them to use. What is sad it all of the ash trees around my house are dyeing because of the beetles (northeast PA), so those too must be cut down, and ash is a great heat source. @@OneEyeCustoms

This is a super video! Exquisite installation all the way around. I’d 2nd or 3rd the outside air source. I had a thought on the clean out at the bottom of the flue. You could fabricate an adapter to go over the clean out and attach a shop vac to it. You can turn the vac, go outside and run your brush back and forth to clean it. This will alleviate unwanted soot dust which we all know can be a pain. Maybe the company that made the flue piping offers an adapter for cleaning? See you in the next episode Doug!

Consider installing an outdoor air kit so the stove isn't burning heated inside air. Especially important in a garage that could have various flammable vapors. Been running pellets in my shop for nearly 10 years, its nice to have the stove on a few hours before doing a job to take the chill out of the building.

What does Adam have to say about you going with pellets instead of getting free firewood from him? Seems he owes you a couple of years of free firewood...LOL

I can get firewood anytime I want it. I just didn’t want it for heating this area of my garage.

Well there is a very tough question.
Pellets are around $300 a ton.
Firewood depends on tons of things!!

I have a natural gas furnace that runs during the night. I’m not sure you caught that if you didn’t watch the entire video.
