Yes! This needs more publicity! Been loving this game. The more people that know about this the better! Especially after what Humble did to the devs.

@@dash_ism the publisher closed, now they basically lost access to the console versions and can't update them anymore
I always knew something was up with Humble ever since they made it almost impossible to cancel my subscription

@@themoonsevilsister1561 Humble got bought up by IGN a long time back and since then, their bundles have been less about giving people great games and more about just making money off poorly selling titles

I'm recognizing so many cultural references in this game to Japanese folklore, and I'm so happy. For starters, the soot bunnies and the paper doll cutout things in the Dragon's library (they look exactly the same as those in Spirited Away)
And of course, the plentiful yokai.
I love how it would take very little effort to turn this into a Touhou game (aside from doing the art for all of the characters in this style).
It's just that lighthearted and directly based on the folklore, that there were less than five characters/enemies in this entire video that didn't immediately click with an equivalent for me.
Like the Bridge Princess, her visual design is completely unlike Parsee but the personality is just perfect for this kind of humor.

as a new anime watcher, “megumi mountain” and naruto being a ramen shopkeeper in “sakura city” were some solid references

I'm not trying to conflate Japanese and Taiwanese aesthetics with this comment but this video made me realise skurry hasnt played nine sols yet, which is a game id recommend to any metrovania fan, i think it's spectacular

skurry did play it for one stream, and didn't like it because it was too combat focused for them and they didn't get far enough for the platforming to open up

I really dont get a lot of exposure to indie games, honestly most of the ones i know are from this channel, but this game is one that I'd actually heard of a little while ago! So glad skurry played it, it sounded really cool but i hadn't seen any gameplay before this

Hey skurry ! I know you like to play a lot of 2d platformers and adventure games but there’s a game called Peaks Of Yore which I highly recommend you check out ! It’s a game about climbing different mountains in Scotland and it might not be your style but if it is that would be awesome . Anyways Im gonna get some popcorn and enjoy this new skurry episode !

I do enjoy how heavily it's hollow knight, with an interesting new spin on things. The emotional tone feels a bit weird to me though

My first metroidvania was hollow knight, after that I've played over 10 other metroidvanias with bo being the last, all of them (except hollow knight) I've never finished, and likely never will; I've then come to the conclusion that I do not like metroidvanias, I like hollow knight.
I realized similarly that either it was hollow knight specifically or the novelty of a new genre
