Right? As a programmer and CPU/assembly language optimization expert, just /facepalm and shaking my head. float for a timer? And one that the game checks for divisibility by 3 or something? n % 3 == 0 is vastly more efficient for integer than FP. (Well hopefully they just add something to calculate the next deadline so it's still just adding and comparing, not a modulo every frame.) What kind of language was this written in? Presumably not Javascript; JS numbers are double-precision floating point that can represent every integer up to 2^53 vs. single-precision being able to represent every integer up to 2^24 (with larger numbers rounded to nearest multiple of 2, then multiple of 4, etc.) So 1 ulp (unit in the last place of the mantissa) becomes larger than 1 at that point, and is where adding 1 with round-to-nearest will stop changing the value. IDK where the 2^19 comes from; perhaps it adds something larger than 1 every frame, like maybe it counts in milliseconds and it adds 30 ms or whatever. Wikipedia's article on single-precision floating-point is very good.
