In my opinion, LEGO should release at least some kind of anniversary set for the 25th anniversary of the series. A very good candidate would be the LEGO Ideas project, which is currently collecting votes on the website, and which is definitely not talked about enough in our community. I don't remember the name of the author of the MOC I'm talking about now, but the building itself is a diorama with palm trees, on which stand two figures built in 90% LEGO Technic bricks. I would like to see a official set containing at least the figures themselves, but instead of a diorama, we would receive recolors of all the colored bricks, so that when you buy one piece of the set, you get a black skeleton that can be covered with armor of any color, creating a Toa of fire, water, ice, etc. If you haven't come across this project yet, I recommend taking a look, because it's probably the closest thing that could reconcile the pool of bricks still being produced and the expectations of fans of the series.
I can’t see a reason (beyond money) why they can’t just remake the molds? There is no way they can’t do that….bionicle was all about taking a leap of faith and trying something new….it worked back then…and I’m willing to bet that if they just rereleased the classic bionicle set by set, year by year, that they would make their money….they would at least have my money
13 Billion dollar net-worth from 2023 (Statista). At the very least bring the Bionicle and Hero Factory parts to pick-a-brick. We need to stop asking and start demanding. LEGO can do it, and they can do it incrementally add one piece after the other.
i mean i think bionicle could make a good comeback. I think a part of the reason the 2015 reboot failed is that the market at the time was super saturated with other constraction figures that used the same skeletons and mostly the same parts. there were so many star wars sets that used the same skeletons and molds, and even the bionicle figures were mostly using the systems designed for hero factory. I think a new wave that used new parts, that had a good tv show could do really well, because even though lego currently has the big system based construction figures, if they go back to the ball joint and technic based system for bionicle, it will stand out pretty well.
i never undestood why LEGO is so adamant about destroying molds, meanwhile hasbro comes out wuith 20 year old transformers repros, including the pill bug noone even liked

I’m not sure how true this is but I’ve heard it’s more financially viable to destroy moulds than keep them. For a company that has made an ungodly amount of unique elements over the years, that scans tbh
Replying to myself but I had a thought, hasbro is very beholden to what moulds they happen to find. Take that Beast Wars: Transformers reissue line from a few years ago. If they had better moulds, why would they EVER do nobodies like Retrax and Iguanus? We still don’t have a dinobot or rhinox!
If LEGO will bring 2001 Kanohi and keep selling their recolors in Mata/Turaga/Metru colors, making the Toa body out of still produced bricks is pretty easy. Yeah, it requires a lot of bricks to recreate what was possible years ago for a single brick, but balljoints are still available. Technic bricks too ;)
I 100% agree with the “keep the mind open thing” I think that even if some people like it and some don’t we should still all show our support for the theme. One thing too is that I’d probably be fine with system bricks! They could probably make some really really cool stuff from it!!!
The problem with a continuation is that the lore got way too complex and self-involved for new audiences to integrate with. Also the reason G2 failed is that Lego tried too hard to market it to both the original audience (who didn't want it because it wasn't the thing they had as kids) and expected said audience to market it to younger people in their lives.
I feel like the marketing must have been pretty bad for G2, because I was basically the new target audience (maybe a little younger than the target kids, but right about there) and I never new it existed until after it was discontinued
4:37 Lego has sort of done this. Back in 2019 in certain Lego Star Wars sets, a minifigure from the first few years of Lego Star Wars was included. The only difference was a 20th anniversary logo printed on all of their backs.
Be that some one? I need LEGO to at least bring the Bionicle and Hero Factory pieces to pick-a-brick. I also moved on to building Gunpla and other similar model kits. They're definitely not toys, and the barrier to entry is a fair bit higher, but they oh so scratch the itch!
I think what I would like to see is two things: first, continue the story. Standard constraction builds of new characters with the same “pattern” of new heroes in the iconic canisters and assorted villains, little dudes, and masks. That was a winning formula for a reason. Maybe spice it up a little, we see toa of psionics and gravity and such in the lore but we’ve never had official retail sets of the more obscure “elements.” Second, I think bionicle should revisit titan sets, and they should go HAM with it. Furthermore, they should do revamped versions of older characters. I was but a tiny baby in the ancient prehistoric years of the early 2000’s and could barely handle the original sets, but now that it’s the mighty space age year of 2024 I’m an elderly curmudgeon who wants their more complex boncle. Imagine licensed sets with the sort of detail we see in fanmade mocs. Imagine a toa mata Onua with massive, poseable claws. Imagine The Makuta in their full, eldritch glory alongside their monstrous creations. Weaponry like cordak blasters, zamor launchers, and skyblasters (to name only a few) all streamlined and brick built. Visorak that are actually *spiders.* C’mon LEGO, we’re big kids now, we can handle sets with a bit more substance to them. Also, Bionicle was my childhood. Like, full stop. I’ve always felt that it was too *big* to be represented by the mainline action figures alone. A few big, incredibly detailed display pieces would be just what the doctor ordered. Also also, this ended up kinda rambly, and in the process of typing I forgot how everything was ordered and failed to make it match with the video’s structure like I should’ve to make my crazed ramblings make sense. Whoops.
Just put them in those colorful canisters, place them on those Target or Walmart shelves, and I will buy every single set with my credit card with the biggest and happiest smirk you will ever see. PLEASE LEGO HEAR US! LISTEN TO OUR CRY!
What I'd love to see is something in the vein of Pokemon Generations kinda. Like, we get a g3 in some form, idc if it's a full reboot or a continuation, but we could still get iconic characters like the Toa Mata just so they're out there for the mainstream. But then we could also get side content related to g1. I'm a very visual person, and as much as I love the room for MOCs left by characters who didn't have official illustrated/built forms, I'd still love to have like, a proper version of Tuyet that I can buy, etc. So have a collectors line of these unreleased characters, and maybe an accompanying mini series covering lore that the movies didn't. Then it also offers something new for old fans to buy instead of just Toa repros.
It's unlikely since Lego destroyed all the original molds a few years after the line was discontinued, but it would be cool to have at least some kind of revival of Bionicle. It's been almost 10 years since Bionicle G2 and Lego has been working in Bionicle references in various sets, mostly in stickers and stuff, so you never know.
I actually am writing a book set 9000 years after the story finale. The first part is just a small adventure following the fire element main protagonist who finds Metus wanting the Mask of Time so he can revert to his Igorhi form instead of being a parasitic snake. In the next part, we will learn that something happened to break timelines and they need to find the Mask of Time again. Not sure what it possible third will be about.
I would imagine a mix of 1 and 4 is shst I'd most realistically expect. System character builds in a new but in universe set story. And when it comes to G2, I think there was genuine passion on the psrt of the toy's figures.
This is so strange, 3 weeks ago I was looking for Rock stuff on Ebay and for some reason I remembered Bionicles sets, I bought some and now I realize that this topic is reviving in a sick way, I'm so happy that I'm not the only one who has remembered his childhood :')) Fun fact: I'm from Peru and I recently moved to Utah XDDDD
Jett, if I worked for Lego and they gave me the task of bringing back Bionicle I would do this: 1: 3D printing. No new moulds. No money crises 2: Revamp the designs that they incorporate ccbs and the new lego system 3: New plot, new world. It still pays homage to the og
I never got into Bionicle, (I was more into Hero Factory,) but it certainly looks amazing. I could never figure out how to effectively use the pieces, so I just didn't like them. (This is because I wasn't around for Bionicle itself, so I never got the sets for it.)
I always imagined Bionicle story to continue like this. It would be darker and set as an adult theme. Bionicle fans are the same, but older. The amount of them is the same as it was years before in its peak. So, here is my pitch: You return to the planet where Mata Nui left. Desolate and ruined landscape. Mist, swamps dark and gritty atmosphere. Wastelands and grey deserts. There would be matorans, and lots of enemies and monsters (scavengers) living of a cataclysmatic event which was caused by Mata Nui's leave. No one would save them, no one would help them. They needed to take care of themselves. Some of the would be very clever individuals who were able to transform themselfs into heroes or protection units. I imagine slightly different design. You would have slick and fast ones and also heavy and bulky ones. Limbs with springs and overall minimalistic design with dark pastel colours.
Honestly LEGO could make a fortune just by making stories. They have made major success with animation and movies so even if they don’t think that the toys could make a comeback it’s obvious that the fans still love the Bionicle Universe. They could easily make a soft reboot about life on Spherus Magna after the Reformation where new characters explore a brand new world that still has remnants of the old one everywhere.
honestly something that would make new CCBS molds great for a new bionicle line would be to release each toa in each color ala bakugan, like let us get out hands on a Tahu in gali's colors or a Pohatu in Kopaka's palette, maybe make a storyline where on top of looking for the great masks that the toa are then able to share with one another via golden kanohis they can also find golden toa tools that lets them change their element! collectors will KLOVE being able to assemble "mono-element" toa teams where they can have an entire team of fire toas or a team of just wind/air toas, the moc makers would have a field day creating whole new toas by mix and matching body types, toa tools and masks to create their own OCs and im sure a LOT of people would of loved to be able to create somethign silly like a toa Kahita out of 3 Tahus or something like that from a story point of view lego can emphasise team work and the value of every element by having the toa learn from eachother in order to be able to better use their elements, for exemple a hot headed tahu that is in a situation where he HAS to use the ice element but is left with a weaker elemental prowess than Kopaka because he still has the mindset of the fire element but then by embracing Kopaka's own attributes and mindset can fully access the might of the ice element just as well as the ice toa
I feel called out for living in Utah and being a Bionicle fan. But at the same time, that’s actually great news that there’s apparently more Bionicle fans here than anywhere else. Maybe I’ve actually got a shot at finding some friends who are into it.
I think bionicle could come back for one very simple reason. Bionicle was THE single most popular lego theme for 5 years straight in the mid 2000s. Now all those kids are in their 20s-30s. Which means basically every single new hire lego makes right now is most likely a HUGE bionicle fan.
Having to do a double take in a video because a piece of art I commissioned literally only a few weeks ago popped up in a one-off joke about Gen-Z trans women home owners was not on my list of things I thought I'd be dealing with today
Whatever happens, I really hope they don't bring them back as bricks. That's cool as like a one off thing, but the technic piece designs are so iconic that I genuinely can't imagine Bionicle working as well without them.
It honestly gets exhausting to have so many reboots for every single franchise. There's so many beginning stories but no grand finales. I agree with you, a continuation of the og line would be great and a new take on how we create media and toy lines different from the modern way of doing things.
Honestly my two ideal situations would be either a brand new story, set in a brand new universe with new characters, but using the same general mysterious and eerie vibe of the original. OR a re-telling of the original G1 story but with a new twist. Keep the characters, locations etc, but change what actually happens in the story. Recognizable characters, but you don't know where the writers will take them. I lean more toward the second option, as I would just REALLY love to see an actual show that tells the story of the original generation, but the first would be amazing too!
I think the biggest problem facing a potential Bonkle return is pricing. Back in the day medium sets rrp reached a grand height of $13 USD. Meanwhile for G2 it was $20 USD for the Toa. Inflation has gone up so prices are going to be higher while wages haven't increased as much. Therefore it's going to be a challenge to make a set that has enough action/articulation, detail, and a low price so it's easy to pick up. Personally I think the GWP style with a few custom parts to make it more unique could work (and Kanohi. Bionicle needs Kanohi!). But as much as we want this franchise back we need to be open minded to some sacrifices.
Well... a time skip would leave the comic's cliffhanger (due to lego canceling bionicle before the last comic) still there, so maybe a catch-up and a continuation of the story
Bionicle actually originally had loads of plans to tie in G2 with the original story (especially with all the references to the Mask of Time) so it was almost an attempt at the last idea. HOWEVER I do think of Lego fully brings back Bionicle, they should make it be a sequel and partial reboot not just to G1 but G2 as well. This could be done pretty easily due to the fact that Okoto is still quite a mysterious place in the Bionicle lore so it being used as a setting for this new partial reboot and then tying it in to where Bionicle G1 and G2 left off could be rlly cool. And it could serve as a good new location for new fans due to it still not having a ton of lore to it in comparison to other canon locations, making it ripe for future development. Lego could even tie in how the Toa’s final mission on the red Star ties into them falling to Okoto and having their memories erased and with this new gen Bionicle could even have Velika be the series’ final boss and have his master plan involve the Mask of Time and him planning to get it to ascend to his desired positions in the series’ world.
Sokoda tried it in his LEGO Ideas diorama and LEGO rejected that idea. That's why now, other fans are trying witch Technic-built Bonks instead. Will it succeed? We shall see when any of them will have 10k votes, but we need more MOCs. Only 4 Bionicle MOCs on LEGO Ideas is not enough
It's completely possible to recreate old molds with today's 3D modeling technology. LEGO had a lot less money back then and was able to create all these amazing molds from scratch in the first place without 3D rendering technology we have now. They could afford to make thousands of new molds back then, and can afford it now, and quicker and easier than ever.
Honestly there were a lot of future plot points that never came to pass when bionicle originally ended so continuing on from that means there will already be a lot of ideas to pull from. Not to mention all the lore bits dropped by chris faber on his channel.

GET THIS MAN AND HIS IDEA TO LEGO RIGHT NOW
We hope and pray
Every day.
All you have to look at is the success of gunpla to see that there’s definitely a giant market out there for buildable robots
i mean i think bionicle could make a good comeback.
I went to my childhood mall and walked past what used to be the KB Toys I’d buy all my Bionicles from. Great timing!
I’m not sure about anyone else but I want to see more of that tank in the back of your room (;
Ok im just gonna say it. We need a B-Daman Reboot !
i never undestood why LEGO is so adamant about destroying molds, meanwhile hasbro comes out wuith 20 year old transformers repros, including the pill bug noone even liked
This "molds are dead" mindset is killing me. 13 Billion dollar net-worth from the year 2023 (Statista). THEY CAN MAKE NEW MOLDS. Reverse engineer the molds from the given parts. The 3d models exist, they have a vault with all the parts, they can get all the parts and make new molds. They need the urgency to do it.
AT LEAST bring the Bionicle pieces and Hero Factory pieces to pick-a-brick.
Also Bandai still reproducing 40 year old model kits from Gundam.
It's because the molds cost alot to store, if a part won't be used in 4 years its cheaper to make a new mold instead of saving the mold for 4 years
If LEGO will bring 2001 Kanohi and keep selling their recolors in Mata/Turaga/Metru colors, making the Toa body out of still produced bricks is pretty easy. Yeah, it requires a lot of bricks to recreate what was possible years ago for a single brick, but balljoints are still available. Technic bricks too ;)
what the fuck that "lego" RX-78-2 looks sick af
Second I saw Mitchbuild’s moc on the image I clciked
I 100% agree with the “keep the mind open thing” I think that even if some people like it and some don’t we should still all show our support for the theme. One thing too is that I’d probably be fine with system bricks! They could probably make some really really cool stuff from it!!!
Bionicle will probably come back as a minimal-effort line just so LEGO can cancel it and be like "SEE BIONICLE DOESN'T SELL ANYMORE"
I had a dream where Lego outsourced the bionicle rights to Bandai and we got model Kits like gundam and it was great
Would I be excited if Bionicle comes back again (again)? Of course! But, it’s ok for something beloved to stay in the past. That’s why it’s beloved.
The fact you can build most of the Turaga out of just technic parts. Litterally only 4 parts needed to complete the body.
The issue with option 2 is that lego has already destroyed all the molds, as they do with any mold that goes unused for 5 years
4:37 Lego has sort of done this. Back in 2019 in certain Lego Star Wars sets, a minifigure from the first few years of Lego Star Wars was included. The only difference was a 20th anniversary logo printed on all of their backs.
Option 4 is my ideal comeback... Pipedream but yeah, i'd love it. Give me Turaga Mata, old Takanuva, everyone coexisting in the new reborn planet...
If possible I just hope someone sends this video to The Lego company so they actually see this and might think about it
Be that some one?
I need LEGO to at least bring the Bionicle and Hero Factory pieces to pick-a-brick.
Just treat it like Transformers. G1, G2, Beast Wars, etc.
I've already got Bionicle back in my life, and it's called 30 Minutes Missions...
Also, Gundam. Can't forget Gunpla.
I also moved on to building Gunpla and other similar model kits. They're definitely not toys, and the barrier to entry is a fair bit higher, but they oh so scratch the itch!
I definetly think a Bionicle reboot/relaunch needs the mystery angle to succeed.
In 2020, they said it would come back in 2021, then in 2021 they said 2022, then they said 2023, 2024, 2025, people just love spreading that rumor.
The only thing I heard was that the license or trademark would go out if they didn't use it but I don't think that's the case or at least not yet
@@DanDen-gh7sihow long until they lose the licenses? It nearly 10 years since g2
@TheDragonfriday I have no idea unfortunately it was just another guess made by someone
I would love to have model kits of the toa mata. Imagine all the articulation and the pistons moving
I think what I would like to see is two things: first, continue the story. Standard constraction builds of new characters with the same “pattern” of new heroes in the iconic canisters and assorted villains, little dudes, and masks. That was a winning formula for a reason. Maybe spice it up a little, we see toa of psionics and gravity and such in the lore but we’ve never had official retail sets of the more obscure “elements.”
Second, I think bionicle should revisit titan sets, and they should go HAM with it.
Whoops.
As nice as it would be to see Bionicle come back, I don't see myself spending money on them if they're system sets.
YES A NEW BIONICLE VIDEO THANK YOU JETT KUSO OHHHHHH GOD IS GOOD GOD IS GOOD
Just put them in those colorful canisters, place them on those Target or Walmart shelves, and I will buy every single set with my credit card with the biggest and happiest smirk you will ever see. PLEASE LEGO HEAR US! LISTEN TO OUR CRY!
#MOREBIONICLES
Basic character pods with titan upgrade kits sold separately is GENIUS!
Hmmmm what if lego embraces catering to niches by giving like a mold a year and having it on standby via production by order
Thank you for giving me hope jett especially since its my birthday!
If so, hopefully it will succeed better than the last return.
0:17 .... why alaska? Like I live in Alaska and am a fan of bionicle, but it's not like there are alot of us in Alaska.
I would imagine a mix of 1 and 4 is shst I'd most realistically expect.
System character builds in a new but in universe set story.
And when it comes to G2, I think there was genuine passion on the psrt of the toy's figures.
Young trans women all live with our parents. That's where we live.
The thing I hated most about the reboot were the parts. I hated ccbs and it's armour pieces because to me they didn't feel and look "Bionicle"
This is so strange, 3 weeks ago I was looking for Rock stuff on Ebay and for some reason I remembered Bionicles sets, I bought some and now I realize that this topic is reviving in a sick way, I'm so happy that I'm not the only one who has remembered his childhood :'))
Fun fact: I'm from Peru and I recently moved to Utah XDDDD
idea #4 is perfect and they have the capabilities to do so, i hope theyve been working on that exact idea for the last few years and theyre saving it
Jett, if I worked for Lego and they gave me the task of bringing back Bionicle I would do this:
1: 3D printing. No new moulds. No money crises
2: Revamp the designs that they incorporate ccbs and the new lego system
3: New plot, new world. It still pays homage to the og
0:54 “… and wherever gen-z trans women live”. I spit out my coffee 😂
I don’t really get the joke, can someone explain?
I made DIRECT eye contact with my toa oc on my desk...
It's so tiresome
- *Stares at the Bohrok next to my trans flag*
- *Stares harder at the head I plan to use to remake an OC Toa*
Some of us are younger millennials! Now excuse me while I crumble to dust like the rubber bands that came with some of my sets from 2001...
My favorite idea is a Halloween code being included in a November video.
I never got into Bionicle, (I was more into Hero Factory,) but it certainly looks amazing. I could never figure out how to effectively use the pieces, so I just didn't like them. (This is because I wasn't around for Bionicle itself, so I never got the sets for it.)
If this is True that it's finally coming back after 10 Years since G2 Came out I'm curious to see what they'll do with a New Building System 😄
I always imagined Bionicle story to continue like this. It would be darker and set as an adult theme.
Bionicle fans are the same, but older. The amount of them is the same as it was years before in its peak. So, here is my pitch:
You return to the planet where Mata Nui left.
They could easily make a soft reboot about life on Spherus Magna after the Reformation where new characters explore a brand new world that still has remnants of the old one everywhere.
honestly something that would make new CCBS molds great for a new bionicle line would be to release each toa in each color ala bakugan, like let us get out hands on a Tahu in gali's colors or a Pohatu in Kopaka's palette, maybe make a storyline where on top of looking for the great masks that the toa are then able to share with one another via golden kanohis they can also find golden toa tools that lets them change their element! collectors will KLOVE being able to assemble "mono-element" toa teams where they can have an entire team of fire toas or a team of just wind/air toas, the moc makers would have a field day creating whole new toas by mix and matching body types, toa tools and masks to create their own OCs and im sure a LOT of people would of loved to be able to create somethign silly like a toa Kahita out of 3 Tahus or something like that
from a story point of view lego can emphasise team work and the value of every element by having the toa learn from eachother in order to be able to better use their elements, for exemple a hot headed tahu that is in a situation where he HAS to use the ice element but is left with a weaker elemental prowess than Kopaka because he still has the mindset of the fire element but then by embracing Kopaka's own attributes and mindset can fully access the might of the ice element just as well as the ice toa
With the new F1 collectable series taking a CMF slot, I want a collectable minifigure scale Bionicle series.
It's only been 60 seconds and I already got clocked just by watching this video 🤣
I feel called out for living in Utah and being a Bionicle fan. But at the same time, that’s actually great news that there’s apparently more Bionicle fans here than anywhere else. Maybe I’ve actually got a shot at finding some friends who are into it.
9:57 Truer words have never been spoken.
OH HEY I KNOW THAT CLIP
I think bionicle could come back for one very simple reason. Bionicle was THE single most popular lego theme for 5 years straight in the mid 2000s. Now all those kids are in their 20s-30s. Which means basically every single new hire lego makes right now is most likely a HUGE bionicle fan.
i want just blatant action figures that aren't locked to the lego system at all. i care about the characters more than the brand at this point
Having to do a double take in a video because a piece of art I commissioned literally only a few weeks ago popped up in a one-off joke about Gen-Z trans women home owners was not on my list of things I thought I'd be dealing with today
🫡
Would be cute to see some mechy blocky Mixel looking Bionicle.
The OGs were fine too but i wanna see some more consistent flow.
OG bionicle was an esoteric allegory.
there is another option - Marvel Ultra Built / Nijago-Mech style bodies with a handful of custom pieces for the mask and armor
Well... a time skip would leave the comic's cliffhanger (due to lego canceling bionicle before the last comic) still there, so maybe a catch-up and a continuation of the story
What was the first clip u showed from? How do I find it?
Honestly; actual Bionicle minifigs would be cool af
