DDG = Destroyer, Guided missile So yeah, I'd hope it DID have missiles... :) Likewise, the C (Corvette) and FF (Frigate). I got this game, but with the high price and it keeping crashing, I elected to get a refund - will likely get it later in production. Don't mind early access, but you either make them cheap or you make them a solid game (albeit short on features) first.
The game is playable and fun even in this early stage. The true test will be what happens with the first big update which the developers say will come after the New Year. Right now, it's about a solid C.
First thing i did was blanket my immediate are with sonar buoys. Found a sub directly behind the convoy i swiftly took out, moved notrh intercepting missiles, took out all the land batteries snd damaged the airbase after peeling off ghe crommelin i think it was to go hunting.
i had one of my own vessels ram a tanker.... i think the time clock speed up effects units.... played same mission as you.....gonna wait for updates.... game looks good.... but still rough....
I don't like the game. I hate the UI, but what i hate even more is that the game doesn't give a fuck about your orders. It's like you're not even playing the game. It just does it's thing. Also, i don't understand why AA is so ineffective. Even back in WWII they were able to down aircraft reliably. In this game even with radar they can't hit shit even if it's on top of them. I really don't think the developers know what they're doing.
There are some subtle issues involving some very specific use cases that do need ironed out regarding formations and orders. However, regarding your comment about AA is so ineffective lacks examples with evidence. Been doing modern warfare strategy sims a lot longer than some adults have been alive. The probability of success in intercepting targets in the game using missiles or CIWS is spot on in the game with very minor adjustments maybe needed. There are former US navy personnel who have direct first hand experience with the air defense systems of ships and they regularly comment about the game's air defense simulation is very close to the real thing regarding engagements. (Without going into any detail which could get them in legal trouble).
Keep in mind, the only units in the game are 1970s through early 80s. The SM-1 was designed to hit the first generation of ASMs, and aren’t great against sea skimmers. SM-2s are better, and SM-3 are not in the game, but those are likely 80%+. Like most games it overestimates Soviet capabilities, especially Granit, but that is to keep it competitive. Granit probably never worked right.
Good show. Been watching this game for a month but you're still teaching me stuff about it.
He is the reason I got the game.
Thanks!
I also had that problem tonight with the missiles disappearing

Great game for very early alpha access. Can’t wait for a couple updates.
Definitely.

i agree that the clock speed up may be the culprit.

it just came out, give the devs a bit of time to iron it all out. have faith.

"Granit *probably* never worked right"
