As long as the carrier fleets don’t get Air Partols automatically positioned in the formation, it will never get the tactical complexity of the old Harpoon game. There is so much room for improvement.
Really nice video. Great voice-over. Looks like an absolutely awesome game. Which is why it's on my Steam wishlist! Suggestion for next time you play this mission, and have 3 B-52s again (I've most seen only 2 of the B-52s in other videos): Line the three bomber abreast in formation. Do this outside the Harpon launch range. Once they are abreast and BEFORE they are within launch range assign all 12 missiles from 2 bombers to each of the primary targets. Then assign 6 missiles to each primary targets from the third bomber... They will each launch their Harpoons when they reach the proper distance. And they will do so, or should, at nearly the same time. This will help achieve a tighter TOT (time on target). This has a very high chance of greatly overwhelming the defensive systems of the Soviet fleet. Again, nice video. Gonna keep an eye on your library for more Sea Power!
The mission was updated, that's why there were only two in other videos you've seen. After the update, the blue side gets an air base in Guam and an additional bomber, while the red side gets more ships including a Kiev and two Udaloys and more.
Setting this up roughly in DCS has interesting results. Timing swarms of TALD decoys from F/A-18s to arrive with B-52 Launched Harpoons helps a great deal.
Russian ships, the kiev above all, are glass cannons The Kiev couldn't sail from murmansk to the med and back as it broke down and needed a tug. Its fuel is terrible, it has poor damage control, and the yak fighters were a joke. Short legs ( range), poor armament, few in numbers, and poor manuverability.
Former B-52 tail gunner here. Was stationed with one of SAC's primary harpoon units. Great video!
Woah that’s amazing! Thank you for your service!

Thanks man! That’s means a lot and that’s an awesome idea, I’ll definitely have to try that!

And the blue side also gets a Tico and a Virginia
@@Fakename-ub8pw ah that makes sense

That makes sense! Confusing the air defense seems like it would be very affective!
That voice is crafted by angels..
