Katie I LOVED the sketch that you redid in your smaller sketchbook. You thought it looked too muddy or dirty or somehing. One of the panels is with a woman and the larger one on the other side is of the outdoors. I believe you redid the sketches in bolder colours. I love the original because it looked very impressionistic...very hazy, soft, and dream like...🙂. See how two people can see the same piece of artwork differently? Lol...This is why I love art! thank you so much for sharing your sketchbook with us today!
Aaah thank you so much! I think that's one of the reasons I love sharing my art on the internet - it really does help me see a different perspective and value some of the pieces I don't like as much a bit more highly 🥰 I can definitely see the different atmospheres between those spreads, you're right - very dream-like and etehral on the larger one! It also feels a bit more of an older era, I think! Thank you so much for sharing and for watching! 💜
@@KatieMoody YEEEESSSS Katie , an older era..it's beautiful. I can DEFINITELY see that as a print!! I think you should print it!! Well done!!☺️
Love your work!
Thank you so much 🥰
Love your sketchbook tours, they are so inspiring to watch 😄🩷 Love how full of color the pages are. You always make me want to experiment more and try new techniques, definitely going to draw a little bit in my sketchbook after this video. Love your points about how long it can take you to fill a sketchbook, when watching videos it’s easy to get the impression that other artists fills their sketchbooks so fast. So it’s nice to hear that you spent quite some time on this one, you can really so the progression and your style evolving throughout this book 😄✨
Thank you so much 💕 I'm so glad it inspires you to draw and to try new things! And yes definitely, I think we can really put extra pressure on ourselves to create because we see others doing 'more'! I'm glad you can see the evolution of my art too 🥰
Omg what a lovely sketchbook! ❤❤❤Everything is so beautiful and you always inspire me! Love these sketchbook tours so much! ❤❤❤
Oh thank you so much 🥰🥹 I'm so happy to hear that! 💕
@@KatieMoody You're very welcome! ❤️🥰
What a gorgeous sketchbook, I love it ☺☺☺
Thank you so much 🥰
I also don't like the smell of the fixative so I highly recommend using hair spray. It works the same. I used to draw with charcoal and it's a great way to keep your pieces clean.
I love loose and messy art! 😊
My favourite kind - always helps to switch off my brain when I create it 😄
Ah, what a gorgeous sketchbook Katie. The spread with the flowers (red poppies) was the one that convinced me to join your Patreon! 😎
Aaaah thanks Eve!! And so glad that you did!! 🥰 ❤️
Love the frogs!🐸
Thank you! One of my favourite spreads to make - they were so fun to paint 🐸😄
I loved looking through your beautiful pages with you! I feel very inspired after watching this, thanks Katie!x
Thank you so much, I'm so glad it made you feel inspired! Thanks for watching 🥰
Your sketchbook tours are always so stunning! Do you use some kind of varnish on pages that you worked on with pencils, neocolors or both? I've had colored pencils transfer to the other page quite a bit in my sketchbooks and was wondering how other artists handle that.
Thank you so much! I don't use varnish or fixative (unless I'm using oil pastels) just because I find the smell too strong. I use the scrap paper to try and minimise smudging and transfer between the pages - generally I'll have 5 or 6 papers that will stay between the pages and I move them along as I work through the sketchbook.
It means the pressure when I'm working on future pages will mean it transfers on that rather than the art. It's not perfect and there's still some smudges and mess on spreads but it does help ☺️
So enjoyed your sketchbook. Beautiful! You said several times that you used Neo pastels. Are those the wax non soluble, Neo 2, or the oil pastel?
Thank you so very much! I use the water-soluble ones, the Neocolor 2s 🤗
Thank you for talking about your feelings around taking longer to finish a sketchbook. I have a sketchbook - my main sketchbook - which have taken me years, and I'm not even halfway finished with it. I feel really bad about it when I watch sketchbook tours of thick sketchbooks, and the artist goes like 'yeah, I finished this over the course of the summer. Took me a little longer than usual because I was on holiday'. This made me feel so much better, thank you :)
My pleasure, I'm so glad it resonated with you! I think social media can definitely pressure us into thinking we need to do 'more' or work faster, but as long as you're happy and you're creating when you can than that is 100% more important 😊
Wonderful sketchbook! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much 😊
Beautiful Warm colors
Thank you so much! 🥰
Loved seeing this! Will check out part one too
Thanks so much Arty! Lots of old stuff in the first part which is always fun to see where it all began 😆
Love it! I’m working on loosening up my style so I can relate to your journey
Thanks so much!! I think looseness will always be something I'm aiming for but I can definitely see the progression in this sketchbook! 😊
how fun, thanks for sharing Katie
Thanks so much for watching! 🥰

So beautiful! Thank you Katie! ❤
Thank you so much for watching 💜
The bird photoshopped onto the card came out really good. I have not been successful superimposing 2 images together
Thank you!! I used to do it a lot as a graphic designer so I think that practise really helped!
I love the freedom with which you explore art and I loved hearing your thoughts on each piece. I particularly liked your gourd/pumpkin spread - you captured them so so well 🧡
Thank you so much! I was really pleased with the pumpkin spread too 🥰
This is excellent. I like the range of subjects you have displayed here. Also really colourful work a really vibrant art style.
Thank you so much 🥰
So inspiring to see all your beautiful work and experimentation with different supplies. Thank you!
