Another great video, always enjoy your take on WJs. I’ve got an ‘04 4.7 Limited that I take off road and use as a daily driver. I was quietly counting up all your repairs and maintenance going “yep, yep, done that, got that…” . I think I’ve done about 2/3 of the things you mentioned. And yes Rockauto is a saviour, even all the way out here in New Zealand - lots of options on WJ parts. You are doing a noble job, saving all the WJs (and teaching us in the process) - keep up the good work!
Hey Tyler! Bought the fire red 4.0 from you back in October. Its doing pretty okay, I keep seeing more WJ’s around and it’s awesome seeing more driving about
Im in Australia with an 02 WJ with the 4.7. I'm counting that as another saved as I bought it with a blown engine and have done a full rebuild. Definitely not worth it financially but I'm loving driving it as a daily driver
I just picked one up just like this one with 238k miles but 4.0 and runs great but all the bearing are for sure shot and the 4x4 lever doesn’t do anything feels like it’s not even connected lol but can’t complain $1200 and the ac works great can’t wait to get it back to 100%
I will be in the market for a second car in the next couple months and the WJ is higher on the list, but they're hard to find without major rust, dents, higher miles without repairs, and so on. I am also looking at Elements, TJ/LJ, New Edge Mustang, VW TDI, and of course, I love the Tundra. I know they're all different but its hard to find each of these right now, at least in my area. So basically, whatever I can find available in April. Of course, I might just go brand new or newer as rebates become available and interest rates come down.
Hi Tyler, thanks for another great video. Just curious, you mentioned ordering parts from Rock Auto. When it comes to new controller arms, do you recommend a particular brand like Moog or Detroit Axle? Many of the parts are discontinued from Mopar and I want the next best thing when installing new suspension items on my Jeeps. Thanks again.
I have a WJ exactly the same as this one. I even have the tow hooks on the front and jk wheels on it too. 4.0 only 150k miles. I was gonna build it up but honestly I've been using it as daily instead.
Good video. I’m currently going through a 99 4.7 limited. First jeep I’ve ever owned. So far so good I think 😂 Do they still ride and drive good with the 2” lift? No driveline angle issues or anything? I’ve been tossing around doing a 2” puck lift on mine, just don’t want to make it rough riding or driving compared to stock since it will rarely be off road. It sounds like you really like them which makes me feel a little better about going with one. Thanks for any input.
Are there any easy sources to pick from for the front row hooks for a wj? Can’t seem to find any locally and everyone wants $100 plus for a set of them
I'm curious as well. Did you make the switch because the magnesium ones warp and leak, even after replacing the gaskets? I've replaced numerous WJ 4.7 valve cover gaskets and they always seem to seep, some more than others. My wife had a Liberty with the 3.7L with plastic valve covers and she put 179k miles on it, and they stayed bone dry. I only ever replaced the front main seal.
Yes the early magnesium valve covers seem to never stay dry for long! I happen to have a set of the 05-07 plastic covers sitting on my bench and decided to finally use them. The gasket thickness is quite a bit larger on the later plastic covers.

You're doing good work, doing things right and giving them a new lease on life. It's hearting to see.

Wj's aged well
I agree! Thanks for the view!
Love these break down videos. Maybe a 4.0 rebuild video?😁😁

Fly out to warm AF Phoenix AZ and help me with my valve cover gaskets hahaha, it's not cold here!
Cool. I'm doing the same thing with my ZJ.
It just keeps getting better.

What size tires do you have on that WJ? I like how nicely it fit's the wheel well.
Those are 245/75R17 Thanks for the view!
Hi Tyler ,
Would you consider doing a piece on a 3.7L v6 Jeep commander ?
I always keep my eye out for a good deal on a WK or XK!
Nice looking daily Mr. P
It has been nice driving daily! My new ordered Jeep is hopeful going into production this month though!
Is it for sale?

We normally just try and wait for them in out local salvage yards here locally
why did you switch to the plastic 05-07 valve covers? I'm about to do mine on my 2001 (magnesium covers) and want to know if I should switch too

Yep, even batteries aren't cheap. I remember buying car batteries for $40. Not anymore.
Your totally correct the cheapest battery for a WJ is still $100! Thanks for the view!
Oh, and why aren’t you wearing red like the rest of the population in KC?
I'm too busy talking to a camera in the garage lol
Have any for sale?
I for the first time am out of WJ's! I am currently working on my first WK though!
*Losing
Thanks for the catch! Remind me not to edit at 1am lol
I think this is a safe space to mention this… I like the WK1 🫣
I almost bought a broken one a few months ago but it was too far gone sadly.
