This is one heck entertainment video while learning something new. Oh man, you make me laugh so hard. I am going to try your technique tomorrow cause I love Lychee aka Lie Chee. You will be always in my mind every time I eat Lychee or Chinese food.
🤣😂 thanks, man, yeah give it a go! be careful when you eat the fruit not to crack the seed by chomping on it, I found this would affect the growth a lot or not grow at all.
Interesting how everyone has a different method. I’ve gotten my own way to work too. I certainly will give your method a try; maybe it’s more effective than mine.
5:17 This guy tho🤣🤣 My neighbor has an apartment building sized litchi tree over 20 years old. I have no problem getting seeds. Thanks for the vid! Can't wait to see my seeds germinate
I left mine soaking in warm water on the window sill for a few weeks-changing the water every 4-5 days, they’ve just started splitting with green bits, I can’t wait til they grow roots
Hi there, just a question regarding the paper towel and foil, do you regularly moisten the paper towel or do you just do that once when you place the seeds in side it?
Lol, is this how all your videos are, great job. I definitely will subscribe. This was a great first impression 👍🏾. I look forward to watching many more videos, thanks for sharing.
Thanks mate! It's a massive help to hear positive feedback. I'm working on it 😂 after making so many videos you start loosening up and not talking like a robot any longer 🤣😂
Lychee wont grow true to seed, so its a gamble what you'll get, it could be poor fruit or it could be good. To guarantee good fruit that's why people graft. If you can find a tree that produces well then you can try grafting on your seed-grown rootstock. We will do grafting in future videos which will be fun... the hard part will be finding a good tree to take a graft from. Not much Lychee grown here 🙄
@@GreenthumbsGarden I have a connection in Miami with amazing lychee which is why I was asking in the first place, now I know I need to get a graft of this tree !!
Oh my word, I haven’t laughed that much in a while, my stomach hurts after that Chinese chopstick bit. Great video, just found your channel, very entertaining and great content!
What happens if they are kept longer in the moist towel and foliage? Will it start rotting? if so, about how long after? The thing is that I live in Sweden, and it's quite snowy during winter season from january to mars, and rarely any sun when it's snowy. But in some weeks it does get sunny at noon for a while, and the snow is melted for a few days. It's still a cold weather, but not so bad. Will it be fine if I grow my seeds at the beginning of febuary? Also, Great Video😊👍🏻
hey Linnea, you would have to keep it warm in winter, Lychee will not survive snow or frost, you'll need to find a way to shelter it, maybe in a heated greenhouse or bright spot in the house. It should be ok in the moist towel and you should see some growth with in 2 weeks at most. If nothing is growing after 3 weeks then maybe the seed is bad, keep them warm also.
@@GreenthumbsGarden ok, we will see how it goes. Right now I put the seeds to root in a drawer like you did, but in the back of my room. And in two weeks I’ll give an update. If there is no greenhouse, could I maybe try a terrarium if I have a sunlight lamp for plants..?😅 Cause after all, I was planning to plant it in a pot and not in the garden👍🏻
Hi Linnea, sorry for the late response. For some reason RUclips is flagging many comments and putting them in the spam section and I only just seen this 🙄 I think it probably will out grow the terrarium pretty fast, maybe just find a nice bright spot in the house, and on warm sunny days when the temps are not too low you could leave it outside.
You making laugh so much that my stomach hurts when you mentioned asking the chinese restaurant for a spare chopsticks! And fried rice, Spring rolls. The owner will shoo you out with the broom. Haha.
Yes there will be one soon, I have many videos backlogged and all the editing is just down to little old me... 🤣 and that takes hours of work sometimes. I have cherry, lychee, venus flytrap videos all in the pipeline 😰 and a bunch more videos already shot and need shooting... 😅 overwhelmed...lol
Never Zippy! It was not a poke at all. Rather the absurd thought of going to a Chinese restaurant to ask for some leftover Lychee seed...then some chopsticks 🤣 then why stop with that. The funny part was laughing at the thought of ourselves doing such a thing tormenting poor restaurant owners with our requests.
No sense in asking the Chinese restaurant owner for free rice, if you only have ONE chopstick. Even a Chinese person couldn't eat the rice with only ONE stick..........😁
Noticed that your tissue was moist when you removed the seeds after 23 days.. surely the tissue is going to dry up, even if it’s in the foil. So do you have to keep the tissue moist for the 2 weeks?
No he is correct, Western people pronounce it wrong using their phonetics. Lychee the LY sound is like a hard "i", but also a slight down tone. It's a Chinese fruit and that how we say it. 100% it's not LEE.
Love your accent and sense of humor! And how you cracked yourself up in this video haha!!!
British accent looks like he is from near Manchester
Mate you won me at the Chinese restaurant hack. Love your sense of humor. Love from the land down under.
Thanks mate :-)

😅 Im glad you enjoyed it Manolito!
I liked it when you loughed..very nice
I just stuck mine in a pot on the deck and got 2 to grow. They are doing quite well in my home.
Brilliant Liz!
Liches are my favorite fruit so thanks soooooo much!
You're welcome, glad you enjoy the content Bronwyn Wright 😀 Happy growing!! 🌱

Nice intro! I can’t wait to grow my own Lychee. Cheers
I tried it
It worked
Thank you so much ☺️
What did you get free rice or free spring rolls?
I tried and they only gave me a chopstick! I couldn’t even get a Lychee seed 😭
Interesting how everyone has a different method. I’ve gotten my own way to work too. I certainly will give your method a try; maybe it’s more effective than mine.
be sure to share your method with us in the comments! there's many ways to skin a cat as they say 🙃

Oh wow! thats awsome, he get plenty of fruit from it?
@@GreenthumbsGarden only from the bottom. That's how huge the tree is.

Fantastic Alex... great video and very funny 😂thanks 👌👍
Glad you enjoyed it 😂
It is so useful to know how to germinate the seeds. My problem is I am not sure how to balance watering
until they get established they'll appreciate a daily watering, well drained soil.
Great Videos. Love your enthusiasm and informative approach. Can you post follow ups to your planting efforts? Cheers from Melbourne, Australia ; )
Hi there, just a question regarding the paper towel and foil, do you regularly moisten the paper towel or do you just do that once when you place the seeds in side it?
i did with some and some didn't need it. Just check on it from time to time and if you see it getting a little dry just re-dampen it.
Moisten just once
Great video. Cheers from Ottawa, Canada 🍁

Thank you! God bless!
Thank you too!
eating lychee rn. can't wait to try this out. are you from Bradford, by any chance??
nice! nope not Bradford, not too far from Bradford thought. Barnsley, but living in Spain for the last 16 year.
Funny great video, I too grow tropical plants have a range of them including floral.
brilliant! what fruits you got growing Patel?
You ame learning very intertwining,Tnx. If you do know “ Hawaiian guava pineapple “, how to grow
Mine started to mildew and rot?? Anyone have advice? How do you keep them damp without mildew
normally they sprout with in the week and i dont get any mildew. a bit of cinnamon, or just plant direct.
@@GreenthumbsGarden thanks
Nice!!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Don’t forget to ask for some fortune cookies too. 😂😂😂
😂🤣
Just found your channel. You're hilarious. 🤣
I'm off to the Chinese restaurant.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 thanks
Will you graft them so you get fruit
Aloom...mini....neum foi all. Got it. Roight. Wont forget it Ether. Subscribed.
😅
Please give me what can doit in litchi plant after growing
I hear they need to be grafted because from seed they won’t taste like the parent tree??!! Any info on this would be great!! Thx

Loved the video. Made me laugh
😅 me too
Where are you from? I love your videos and your accent
Once they’re in ziplock bags or aluminum foil do we need to keep watering the paper towel?
keep an eye on them and if you see if getting a little dry give it a squirt of water
Do you know if you can use cinnamon on these as anti mould
yes sure!
Truly magical 🤣 he put less seeds and had more sprouts!
😂🤣😂 I already had some prepared earlier
Oh my word, I haven’t laughed that much in a while, my stomach hurts after that Chinese chopstick bit. Great video, just found your channel, very entertaining and great content!
🤣😂 thanks bro!!
Once I put the seed in the pot, do I water it the first 2 weeks?
water your lychee freely, they like a lot of water. don't let them get dry. I learnt this the hard way.
I subscribed after seeing him crack himself up 🤣
🤣 thanks
When you put it in the paper towel do you have to remoist it
not likely, it wont be in the towel that long, they germinate fairly fast within the week sometimes a little longer
Hawaii not weird, love lychees

I'm growing bell pepper this season
I have three little lychees trees in our house ❤️😂😂😂
🎉🎈 Awesome! tag me in a pic of it one day on insta! @gtg_alex

🤣😂
Can you actually grow these in the U.K. ?
would need to be placed in a heated greenhouse or inside for winter as they are a tropical tree and can not stand any frost
Mine seems to not want to grow anymore 🤔
how did they go? mine died in the old house when we had the issue with the salty well water :-/
Don't forget to ask for the fortune cookie.😎
🤣
Can we have an update on the lychee plant

Best place to find them almost year round is the Asian supermarket
Great idea Jesse, I have been trying to find the fruit some more in Aldi but they never have it in stock... Ill try the Asian market
WHAT DO U HAVE FOR A GOOD JOB IN THE NEXT
Mine only took one week to germinate
nice!! the germinate quickly :-)
Have you done this for bitter gourd. I am having a little tough time. Thanks!!
No, I've never had the chance to try it yet. Hopefully one day I can!
update video? :)
Me thinketh thanks for the good.......cackle!@!?🙂😅😅😅
You're welcome 😊
Your accent reminds me of the Caribbean (some countries) accent
😶 I think they would not agree, and I too 😅😂 Its a Yorkshire accent but ive lived in another country many years so its somewhat changed.

I’m also gonna ask my local Chinese restaurant some eggshells for extra calcium
Ask them for the whole restaurant 😂
😂🤣😂😅 that's what I was thinking when I cracked my self up
How come you didn't put cinnamon on those seeds?
they germinate fairly quickly so I didn't bother. However I think cinnamon would have been worth using.
this was funny>>>>>>😅
How long do the seeds stay viable if they are coming from overseas like Asia to Europe 🤨🤔🤔🤔 if anyone has any ideas on this please let me know 😊
u can easily grow them, will it flower and fruits is another story. They want extreme cold (night) and hot (day) weather.
No sense in asking the Chinese restaurant owner for free rice, if you only have ONE chopstick. Even a Chinese person couldn't eat the rice with only ONE stick..........😁
🤣😂😅
you can probably ask the Chinese restaurant for mango seeds to
😅

yes keep the tissue moist, it it dries just add a bit more water and re-dampen it.
Can I grow lychee in a pot.
sure :-)
I asked them spring rolls and rice with chopsticks and lychee seeds xD
-_- They didnt give me
It's pronounced LEE-CHEE not LIE-CHEE
And who gives a shit. 👏
No he is correct, Western people pronounce it wrong using their phonetics. Lychee the LY sound is like a hard "i", but also a slight down tone. It's a Chinese fruit and that how we say it. 100% it's not LEE.
NO IT’S NOT ITS LIE-CHEE. Pronounce it properly, American
You said several hours .Can you tell me exactly 3 , 9,12 , or 24
Sorry, several usually means 3-5 hours. It don't need to be exact, a few hours more won't hurt, just make sure the seed is well plump and hydrated 🙂
Or ask your Asian neighbours for lychee seeds. We like our fruits a lot.
Most uk vid I've seen
Waffle it down?? You've made that up you have!
I thibk its a real expresion. "to waffle it down" - to eat something or take on an idea or thought with great eagerness
@@GreenthumbsGarden I think the expression you were looking for was to "wolf it down" lol 😂
You're not growing lychee in the North of England are you ??? 😒
Lol, No I live in south Spain. Only the accent is from the north.
The only thing wrong with this video is how you say lychee
well that's not too bad if that's the only critic 🙂
forget the LIE>>>just trying to grow the Chi tree
Don't LIE-CHEE-ME Alex!!!!
😂 🤣
