Well W.o.W. is a money maker and that is why they are still working on it. Unfortunately W.o.W. just kind of ruined the story. However with the new fanbase and old players from Warcraft 3 still wanting Warcraft 4 it may be released and they will get billions.
the total war series is epic in its own right. i have never played a game like it before and its just epic, the graphics the depth of the battles and the aspects of them. not to mention the in depth ways of managing a nation/ kingdom

I play Alliance mainly but...damn..this song IS the Horde. I once played this song on Vent during a Sinestra fight with my Orc warrior..I felt like the biggest nerd, but we did slay the dragon!
@kthanid83 Thrall who is Warchief of the Horde, red-eyed orc who died was Grom Hellscream who was Chieftain of the Warsong Clan and the demon was Mannoroth the Destructor, King of the Pit Lords and General of the Burning Legion. But If you truly are intrested in the characters, story and lore of Warcraft, I truly recommend that you play Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne. Imo they simply are the best games ever made, not just singleplayer campaings, but multiplayer as well.
@Dagginakki Look first of all, Warcraft IV is still years away, if some team inside Blizzard is going to do it, it's the Starcraft II team....it will still take atleast 2 years for them to release Zerg and Protoss campaings, and then propably 3 years to develope the first part of Warcraft IV. WoW is still going to have 2-3 more expansion after Cataclysm until level cap reaches 100.That will take 5-6 years also. So by the time of the release of WC IV, WOW has already come to it's end or soon will
story, characters, everything for it...They have propably well over 100 maybe even 200 people working on this new MMO, so they really have all the time and capable people to pull it off...

@Balnazzardi considering the fact that in WoW it does explain a fair amount of the story line through many quests and the various raids, and i get these numbers by the people i have tested on the world of warcraft for the purpose of that post.
@Animestar55 there are disscussions about this for some time now, Blizz is a bit reluctant since its a HUGE story, and should have at least a huge impact as LotR had, so, a perfect screenplay writter and a perfect director are not easy to find for such a project. We hope for the best and maybe in the near (or far) future we will see a WoW movie (or several *wink*)

yes Ulduar in WoW is before Icecrown Citadel, but is not featured in WC3, yeah it mixes things up a little bit, but sets up pretty nicely for a, what could come next

@Scaipy Ye, that's why I loved vanilla WoW too, it didnt mess up with the lore, but still managed to offer epic adventure and different perspective of the Warcraft universe....but when Burning Crusade was released, everything went to hell, and even more so with Fail of the Lich King.

Also I bet that WoW will have 2-3 more expansions till the level cap reaches 100, and 2014 could be the year that Blizzard will also announce the ending of WoW. And it usually has taken 3 years for Blizzard to release their games since they were first announced (WC 3 for example was announced in -99, released in 02) so WC IV could be released in 2017.
Warcraft IV could only make the storyline so much deeper, and the death of these characters a lot more epic, moving, touching, lot more meaningfull than it was possible in WoW.

Though Quankhi1 is right that it was not actually the players who killed Arthas or Illidan, those characters still deserve so much better than what WoW did to them. We just have to hope that Blizzard will one way or another continue the storyline from Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and either rewrite the the storyline from clean table, like WoW never happened or at very least retell the events of WoW, but in more detailed, deeper and better way

@lordtusk666 Deathwing was not horde, it was Alextrasza that was prisoner by the horde and made to lay eggs for the Horde (they were riding red dragons in warcraft 2, not black ones). Also, Ilidan was never horde (with or without consumin' the skull), he was always blinded by his love for Tyrande and by his lust for arcane power, the curse of all High Elves, which eventualy turned him mad and made him swear allegion to Kil'Jaeden. For the rest, you are right :)
