Night Elves - Music & Ambience - Warcraft III

- As the centuries passed, the night elves’ new society grew strong and expanded throughout the budding forest that they came to call Ashenvale. Many of the creatures and species that were abundant before the Great Sundering, such as furbolgs and quilboars, reappeared and flourished in the land. Under the druids’ benevolent leadership, the night elves enjoyed an era of unprecedented peace and tranquility under the stars.
However, many of the original high-borne survivors grew restless. Like Illidan before them, they fell victim to the withdrawal that came from the loss of their coveted magics. They were tempted, once again, to tap the energies of the Well of Eternity and exult in their magical practices. Dath’Remar, the brash, outspoken leader of the high-borne, began to mock the druids publicly - calling them cowards for refusing to wield the magic that was theirs by right. Furion and the druids chaffed of Dath’Remar’s arguments and warned the high-borne that any use of magic would be punishable by death. In their insolence, Dath’Remar and his followers unleashed a terrible magical storm upon Ashenvale in an ill-fated attempt to convince the druids to rescind their law.
The druids, unable to bring themselves to slaughter so many of their kin, decided to exile the reckless high-borne from their lands. Dath’Remar and his followers, glad to be rid of their conservative cousins at last, boarded a number of specially crafted ships and set sail upon the seas. Though none of them knew what awaited them beyond the waters of the raging Maelstrom, they were eager to establish their own homeland where they could practice their coveted magics with impunity. The high-borne, or ‘Quel’dorei’ as Azshara had named them in ages past, would eventually set shore upon the eastern land men would call Lordaeron. They planned to build their own magical kingdom - Quel’Thalas - and reject the night elves’ precepts of moon worship and nocturnal activity. Forever after, they would be known only as the “high elves.”
With the departure of their wayward cousins, the night elves turned their attention back to the safekeeping of their enchanted homeland. The druids, sensing their time of hibernation nearing once again, prepared to sleep and leave their loved ones and families behind. Tyrande, who had become the First priestess of Elune, asked her love, Furion, not to leave her for Ysera’s Emerald Dream. But, Furion, honor bound to enter the changing Dreamways, bid the priestess good-bye and swore that they would never be apart so long as they held true to their love.
Tyrande, left alone to protect Kalimdor from the dangers of the new world, assembled a powerful fighting force from amongst her night elf sisters. The fearless, highly trained warrior women who pledged themselves to Kalimdor’s defense became known as the Sentinels. Though they preferred to patrol the shadowy forests of Ashenvale alone, they had many allies upon which they could call in times of urgency.
The demigod, Cenarius, remained nearby in the Moonglades of Mount Hyjal. His sons, known as the Keepers of the Grove, kept close watch on the night elves’ land and regularly helped the Sentinels maintain peace in the land. Even Cenarius’ shy daughters, the dryads, appeared in the open with increasing frequency.
Though the task of policing Ashenvale kept her busy, Tyrande felt lost and alone without Furion at her side. As the long centuries passed while the druids slept, her fears of a second demonic invasion grew more palpable. She could not shake the unnerving feeling that perhaps the Burning Legion was still out there, beyond the Great Dark of the sky plotting its revenge upon the night elves and the world of Azeroth.

Back when night elves were savage
Grom: "They are perfect warriors!"
The night elves were just savage dark trolls live around the Hyjal mountain actually
Feral. Not savage. Do you even know what savage means?
They are making a comeback with the strength of the night warrior
Those chims man
RIP Night Elf Lore. You held out as long as you could against the barrage of bad writing for as long as you could.
At this rate all lore is going down the drain, look what they did with Arthas in SL...
Sorry for being outdated but i only play Warcraft 3 lol, what happen the the lore?
Yes please do tell
Uther and Arthas went to the afterlive (shadowlands), where Uther became a somewhat angelic being that was able to judge souls, such as arthas' his. So Uther threw him down to afterlife hell (the maw).
In a later patch, Uther and a somewhat redeemed Sylvanas aswell as Jaina find his soul, or the last part of it, for it was put in a corrupted versions sword of a corrupted Anduin Wrynn,
then he just "vanishes", playing his theme song a last time. You can then loot arthas soul and sell it for around 35 expac ressource.
@@unnamed_96 damn thats just...WOW
Honestly... This makes me realize how much i'd love an alternate Warcraft. No weird Time Travel with alternate Realities, no explaining every mystery like the beyond, the Shadowlands, i even felt disappointed when i was confronted with things like Argus concerning ancient Draenei society
Ever since I almost died to covid I have horrible panic attacks. I come here daily to calm my nerves. It works every time. Thank you.

Tyrande: "Someone threatens the wild?"
Illidan: "Are there demons nearby?"
Malfurion: "Has sleep dulled my senses?"

@Makai Zev You are welcome =)
If they ever make a Warcraft IV, I hope they just play WOW as a spinoff and go from where WC3 ended. Night Elves were so damn badass, especially their intro via campaign. Heck, Hellscream was impressed
I doubt they'll make a Warcraft IV. But if they did I could die happy
@@rmuns1262 I hear you, but more than likely, if they did create a Warcraft IV, it would be a sub-par game meant as a money grab.
Yeah :((
The murder of Cenarius, who gave cunts to Archimonde himself, by a bunch of unwashed assholes with axes is one of the most idiotic moments of the plot.
Given Warlords of Draenor went full tilt comic book multiverse, Warcraft 4 has since been more of a possibility; if Blizz ever decides to end WoW but wants to keep the IP going, they could do a WC4 that postulates what would happen after 3.
However, after 20 years, there's literally no reason to think the Warcraft franchise would ever continue as it would've back in the 2000s. Least of all uncontaminated by all the atrocious writing that has made up WoW from its onset.
Ahh the night elves. The most beautiful race along with their culture and habitat
I love the nightelves, the tauren and the dwarves. I just wish the Alliance wasn't so impossible to like...
@JoeRingo118 It seems alright when you know all OUR trees were cut by the alliance lol...
Were we suppose to sleep in holes ?
@JoeRingo118 3 little (unnatural) oasis and that's it for Orgrimmar ? Pre-Garrosh horde had wooden buildings... And wood is also : Weapons, Paper, etc... Not only for structures ! I think you are wrong. If I was an orc in real life with any other choice I'd cut some NE forests.
And excuse ? WoW writing ? Stupid reasons ? Neutral ? They litteraly beheaded the NE gods few years ago xD I think War is OK
@JoeRingo118 Please look at "barren" and "plain" definitions then compare to "forest" one and you will understand by yourself.
@JoeRingo118 lmao u triggered snowflake
I never enjoyed playing the night elves in WC3, but their music was by far the best. I have heard nothing like it to this day. I feel it fully captures the savage and mysterious aura the WC3 night elves had about them.
Then in WoW they turned into elegant fantasy tree loving elves and lost all their original savage aesthetics.
I really wish there was room for both! I love the savage she-elves and the contemplative druid boys--and any NE who falls in between. I only play NEs when possible in WoW and I STILL wish they could be more fierce. I just also love big trees and so do my elves. I just wish it didn't have to be one or the other :'(
@@Zenith1987 There was a better balance they could strike. I think 8.1 is what happens when blizzard thinks people only saw wc3 NE's as "fierce and mean" lmao. Fierce and territorial yes, but they had their own wisdom and mystery. I liked WoW adding a lot of aesthetics to them, from Japanese / Korean to Gaelic and Roman, but they could have done better at making those tie into their culture and make them feel unique. WoW makes them generic fantasy elves a lot lmao.
So glad i didn’t play wow. A lot of things ruined!
It could be explained that since they joined the Alliance and opened up to the rest of the world, they also took some cultural influences from the outside, because up until that point they were almost completely isolated.
There's two big reasons why that happened.
1) LotR; those films hit it big and reset the clock on elven development in fantasy. The fairy treehugging elf vibe was huge when the LotR books came out, but with D&D and other inspired material, elves gradually evolved away from that, especially by the 90s. The Peter Jackson movies hit and suddenly every guy wanted to be Legolas Bloom and every gal wanted to be Liv Arwen or Cate Galadriel. So Blizz, in their usual hyper capitalist fashion, capitalized on it by making Tyrande a veritable Galadriel and hyped up elf archers more, and kept the ball rolling with BC when blood elves were added with a much closer Tolkien vibe.
2) Forum feminists; feminists hate femininity, and when you add the "savage" motif to women, there's often skimpy outfits involved. That doesn't sit well with feminists who want to make all women into flat-chested alpha males and attack anything remotely close to bikini armor or boob armor. That's why the original Sentinel outfit that was going to be used for the Darnassus guards was scrapped and they were put into generic outfits that were more conservative. They were just as prevalent 20+ years ago as they are today.
So it was easiest for Blizz to ride the LotR trilogy wave which also helped to placate the impotent rage of feminists.
WC3 night elves were the coolest thing to me as a teenager. Druid spells and having animals and trees help the army was a cool concept. Also, huntresses we're badass even if they weren't the best later in the game (they get so wrecked by siege).
Love all the music in this game and how thematic it is.
The amount of nostalgia this track carries is immeasurable. All of the hours sunken into this game and listening to this music are something I will always cherish. Especially the ones spent building and role-playing in SotDRP, XRP and eventually RotRP. If someone remembers those maps, say so below. Do you still remember the tireless creation of characters, creating interiors, building cities and other places to role-play in? Thank you to all of the players, who were there with me. Good luck with whatever you are doing now.
nostalgia dude. wow.

Ha. Such memories.
Ahahahah damn i laughed so hard the first time I heard that one...
“Come forth you mindless wretches and face the wrath of the Sentinels! Elune’s Light shall never falter!”
- Tyrande , back when nelves were feral and reclusive badasses
Feral???
@@TheRogueminator yes, feral . You crossed their forests and they put an arrow through your neck . Those are the nelves we need back
I like the contrast, in WC3 it is implied that it are the Night Elves and other mortal races that for one reason or another has caused great calamity and wonders. In WoW most of that has been warped so that it was all the design of big evils and titans and all that.
Definitely my favorite WC3 ambience and soundtrack. Thanks for the upload!
"Warriors of the night, assemble! *roar*"
"To arms my brethren, to arms brave orcs and humans. Twilight falls.. and the enemy awaits."
22:34 - 23:50 very beautiful rhythm, and relaxing
The flute and synthetic instruments sound soothing
I feel like they did the night elves dirty in WoW, they were so much cooler in WC3 instead of the tree hugging hippies they are now.
Ramose ___ I mean, they were still tree hugging hippies in WC3 except these hippies wouldn’t mind ripping your face off with their teeth.
More like savage hippies, but yea, they at least looked cooler.
They put the 'warrior' in Eco-warrior! 😂
I always come back here to listen to these timeless classics
Awakening is my favorite by far, specially those horns sounds.
Mine is Night Elves' song. Those bells? tambourines? are phenomenal.
At 16:16, Malfurion is mentioning Deathwing, but according to many people Deathwing was made up by writers because there were no villains left out after defeating Lich King.
0:12 "A las armas, hermanos. A las armas valientes orcos y humanos. Llega el crepúsculo y el enemigo lo espera."
So glad to be here..

World of Warcraft better make an expansion based on Night Elves and the Emerald Dream.
Warcraft 3 was the most precious moment for them, they were epic.
We have to hear more about Tyrande Whisperwind and her warriors.
We need more NIGHT ELVES.
Night Elves - love
Always!
Night Elves - life.
Fun fact : Night elf old name dark troll
Yes night elf were troll
Reading the story in the description was so good, I recommend it to everyone! Thanks for giving us such precious details and wonderful music from our favorite game.
Well done Everness, Nightelves were always my favorite, and the first race I played in WoW because of how tranquil it is to play them in Warcraft 3.
I miss the good old days when Blizzard developers were passionate about making good games.

I have just started playing this game again after almost 20 years
heh game is just 19 years old :D July 3, 2002: EU and i played it since year 1 :D damn ... i was 7 - 8 D: good ol' times

Fave faction since playing War III back in the day.
Eternitys End.
Watching Archimonde's rage at the end was pure marvellous.
My fav race as well, the second fav is human, the third one is undead and the nay one is orc. Just my opinion.
I know everyone has their own taste of character and race.
Back when the Night Elves were cool and mystical...
Looking at how the night elf maps were rendered, and how the music was scored, it's funny how it gives more an air of tropical elves than the more quasi-celtic wood elf vibe they're supposed to have. If Blizz wasn't so intent on their races being monochromatic and not carrying over themes, I could see the night elves having more of a tropical flair if not for trolls already inhabiting that role. Particularly given the elves riding of giant tigers.
It's a big reason why the high/blood elves have a solar theme despite their capital being named "Silvermoon," originally the high elves of WC2 had a lunar motif, but the invention of the night elves took that over and caused Blizz to retcon Quel'thalas into a solar theme.
It's always funny seeing concepts in their infancy. Warcraft was still finding its stride during the RTS days before the MMO.
Nightelf always my favorite race :) My first characters in Closed beta of WoW was a nightelf hunter.
I remember when I created Night Elf Hunter, and he was male. Oh the stereotype, everyone assumed I'm another copy of Legolas... But truth is I came as a hardcore Warcraft player and loved night elves very much, lore, characters, magic. Fkn hell this race is awesome.
Al escuchar esto me viene a la mente la voz de Tyrande diciendo ): "Escucho la voz de Elune"

This music is so characteristic. Maybe the best one of 4 race musics. It should've played in WoW. WoW NE musics are also so good but not effective as this one.
My personal top for Reign of Chaos is :
Night Elf > Human > Orc > Undead.
WoW night elf music feels a bit more generic elf.
