Fisher looks the coolest.
Fisher best caster
It’s the REELest of them all
The REELest troll
Fisher Main, Sage alt
nice day for fishin aint it
Ironically I learned something with this video.
...That I'm an idiot. I was only using Explorer Mode for Thumbnails in my 1-90 guides. Why didn't I use it for the intros/level cap opener showcases?!
Glad you got the chance to learn something! Greatly appreciate your 1-90 and 1-80 Guides as it helped me get a better fundemental understand of every job I tried.
You are both the GOAT
I too am "watching because I'm new" >.>
Love your guides a lot, always start with them while learning new jobs. Thanks
*has played the game for thousands of hours and knows my main class Paladin since ShB*
"Very interesting video, I shall watch and see what Ill play"
5000 hours in (ik, rookie numbers), and I still watch every beginner/job guide that appears in my recommendations.
Play Scholar so you can snack on the fairy if you get hungry, okay?
But Nouliths are floating candy sticks, always there, ready to snack on...
play scholar so you get a girlfriend
Aethernoms, yum yum yum
This has so many meanings
paimon is NOT food!!!!!
Do i know i will never main anything other than Paladin? Yes! Will i watch this anyway? Yes, yes i will
Based Paladin main
@@RinBananawe may be the least played tank but I will never not be loyal to it!
Qq@@Croob22
@@Croob22 Paladin & white mage are so underappreciated
I main paladin & white mage
@@Croob22 Paladin gets way better after level 64
Infact, everything gets better after level 64, its just more noticeable on the paladin when you get holy spirit & clemency
What I like to do is use holy spirit, then the base attack & then the combo riot blade to restore my mana & then royal authority & holy spirit again for increased damage. It makes farming yak milk a lot better.
Also, for some reason clemency needs 4k mana per use in dungeons but on the world map its 2k per cast
20:06 Don't think we didn't see that rabbit
Beat me to it lmao
lol yah 😂
i already know what job i should play, but i think i should watch this video anyway.
I appreciate u
"You're probably watching this video because you're new to FF14" - *me with all classes at 90*: yes this is the perfect video for me.
One thing to note for new players, you need to keep in mind that most of the cool moves and even core mechanics are locked behind higher level (and higher means 70+) so DO NOT have over expectation early on when you are fighting like with sticks and stone or else you will be very disappointed lol.
this video is something i wish existed when i first started playing. a short but comprehensive summary of each job with unlock requierments, LB showcase and a core rotation breakdown, and in a very easy to understand way. great work!
(where's blue mage though)
"Ninjas excel at attacking from behind"
I would actually argue, since EVERY melee DPS has positionals for rear and flank... that this is not something Ninja is especially skilled at.
As a Ninja main, I would argue that we excel at attacking from *RANGE* because most of our burst phase damage comes from ranged attacks - and then, on top of that, we can always throw daggers for filler. Whereas Reaper and Monk can only suffer in agony, Ninja can handle being out of melee range with only minor disruption to our rotation.
This, combined with Shukuchi and our passive increase to movement speed, BY FAR makes us the most mobile of all the melee DPS.
We are also the one melee DPS that relies heavily on *MAGIC* damage for our hardest hitting moves, not physical.
Sneak attack does bonus dmg from behind. So does your filler
@@Xenosanta - I am aware of this. but I'm simply pointing out that *EVERY* melee DPS has positionals. It's not something unique to Ninja.
@@DrakeWurrum That's fair. Though sometimes I forget Trick Attack has a positional as well. And while NIN can do stuff at range you miss out on auto attacks etc. if you stay at range for too long which is a loss of dps. (Dagger throw is really low dps compared to... everything.)
@@Xenosanta - Yes, but there are plenty of fight mechanics where melee disconnect is unavoidable.
In those situations, Ninja suffers less DPS loss, so long as they use their kit correctly.
When my pals finally convinced me to join them, I wanted to play ninja but was worried it looked too complicated. So what did I choose instead??
Monk 😂
I stepped away after hitting 60 and came back to absolute confusion about perfect balance lols. It took a patient friendo at a training dummy for me to relearn and understand my rotations, but now that I do, goddamn I love monk!!! the attack animations alone are SO satisfying and I adore the movement it has (I'll always be crying about the lack of a ranged attack though🫠)
Great video! Easily the best one on the subject I have found so far!
I ended up choosing Lancer/Dragoon as my first class and I’m enjoying it a lot so far, but I’m also excited to try the other ones when I have the level to do so 😅
Amazing Video and I appreciate the simple explanation of all the Jobs. What glam did you use for your healer section? I really like that top and hopefully i can get the same top for myself.
Good choice on Neo Ishgardian glamour for your paladin I do that for mine as well!
Still new since we finally got it on xbox. I main GLD however have tried Mar and WHM (still only a Conj atm). I love seeing these because of the things I learn.
"Warriors can use Nascent Chaos to heal allies"
It's called Nascent Flash.
Yeah I misspoke, oopsie!
Scholar's LB3 is Angel Feathers not Angel Wings also.
Good video though
Wow you sound like a dork who’s super fun at parties
@MrDoctorSpanky nah I'm actually really lame and boring at parties. Probably because random strangers get weirdly offended when I point out the actual name of stuff to a youtuber.
gonna try out the game as a lancer into a dragoon and then at 70 reaper. thanks for helping me out with this very useful video!
After playing for a while i eventually settled on wanting a main for each category.
I have settled on Gunbreaker, Sage, Summoner (soon to be replaced with Pictomancer), Machinist and honestly melee DPS i have no clue yet which i like the most.
I feel like this was Rinon best excuse to make a glamour showcase. That is also educational.
Amazing video. Made me actually re look at some abilities that I misread. I was a little bothered by the sound balancing though. I’m sure it would have been fine on speakers but there were fluctuations that sounded weird in my headset. Otherwise good stuff keep it up!!
I'm going to be a Summoner, but I really want to play Machinist.
Classes i plan on maining: Monk, Reaper, Dark Knight and to some extent Bard
where did u get that dekoarmor from? It looks so cool, I want it too.
wonderful overview. But I have to know, which AST weapon is that? :3
A very good video, and something that will help new players figure out what works for their tastes. Some skill pronunciations were a bit off.
Prolly should have mentioned that both AST and DRG are getting overhauls with 7.0 (sprouts may not be aware)
Hi, me and a friend were wondering what weapon transmog u are using on your Samurai
I've started with archer/Bard and enjoying it but I keep wanting to try a melee class. Paladin looks like a lot of fun to me and I like the armour. So far I haven't been too impressed with the look of the bard but I'm sure there will be multiple armour looks later to choose from.
I already play and main PLD, WHM, and DRG. Am i gonna watch this anyways? Absolutely.
you should main BLU because that's best job.
TRUE AND FACTS
It is. Too bad they won't let us be BLU for MSQ.
God I love BLU
Biggest thing I can give to new players, give every role a try. Tank and heal anxiety are real, but you can overcome them, and it will make you a better player who understands what your party members are going through and thinking.
Don't forget to limit test too! No better way to find out how long you can greed than to do it ever so slightly *too* long and get caught out. No one was a master of this game when they started out.
If you've played 1 tank or healer you've played them all. They're homogenised into being just different animation packs lol
@@GoatOfWarwhat other tanks fell cleave 30 times in a row
SCH is my favourite job. So will go with that, but only with trusts, that way I can actually have fun.
In duty finder maybe Picto.
I could taste the salt when he showed what you get for getting all jobs to 90… because that was me too 😂
Helpful, sure, but I feel what we need now instead of just a summary of what each one does is a guide to what playing each one entails. I deeply regret leveling astrologian to level 50 only to realize you need to pay attention to a different, smaller set of symbols, for example. Like I feel explaining sage's kardia and eukrasia should not be a priority compared to pointing out that it is essentially a more accessible version of scholar in a way because you don't have to mess around with pets or remember to aetherflow every minute and there is a lot of overlap between their kits.
I've already decided I'm gonna step outside of my comfort zone with dawntrail currently main DRK, SGE, SAM, DNC and RDM depending on what's needed so i levelled BLM exclusively in MSQ roulettes so already decided to main that caster wise in dawntrail, thinking GNB, AST, VPR and BRD for the others complete mix up.
Where was this guy in 5 days ago when I first started lol
This is hands down the best guide I've ever seen!
Started with Marauder which was a Damage Dealer in 1.0
The surprised moment i had to tank something in 2.0 and i had no idea what do to.
Good/sad old times
This is the most in-depth "serious" video on this topic I've watched. I was surprised. Definitely the most legitimately helpful piece of media on this topic. I will be buying FF14 with Dawntrail, and plan on going with summoner. Might try out Scholar since it levels together; could be useful for getting into dungeons lol.
I just wanna know in the long run what is the goal for dps meaning out of all classes including the end game ones that require a certain level is the highest dps dealer
very well designed video. edited very well.
Wake up babe, new Rinon vid just dropped
I’m not new. Been in ARR since launch, I’m a red mage for life and I wanted to tell you.
I’m here because I love supporting FFXIVARR content creators! There’s always something new to learn. Thanks for your videos
What katana are you using in the video?
Can I play the Archer without picking up the bard job? I have 0 desire to play song and all that lame shit. I just wanna shoot arrows
I started out as a gladiator & then became a conjurer later.
Now my inventories are nearly full even in the retainers.
I even have the warrior class unlocked as well as the scholar but i dont know about having a pet fairy, I prefer white mage where Im healing the party but maybe one day I will give the scholar another chance.
I watched this even though I've been playing for 1300hours lol your camera shots/visuals are great 👍
Out of recent experience I would really like to have a short "Tank etiquette in raid content" Video I could link towards the new sprout tanks.
I see a recent increase of sprout provokes, Tanks who cleave the group with AA and aggro ping pong and MTs who have less HP then the melee.
And this not only at ARR content like Ramuh but even more SB+ raids.
Thank you for the suggestion, when I get a little free time I will cook
Been playing for a month now, started with Lancer hoping that I could use Dragoon to jump over parts of the level. No luck there :P It was fun enough, but I had trouble hitting all my skills on keyboard.
Once I finished ARR, I switched to Red Mage, and that's where the game really came to life for me. I switched to controller, which made it mindblowingly easier to hit all my skills quickly. As a bonus, I've loved rapiers ever since I took fencing in high school 17 years ago, and using the arcane focus to turn it into a staff is unbelievably stylish. I love how mobile you are with Corps-a-Corps and Displacement (tho CaC should really be called Fleche lol)
Still trying to figure out which tank and healer I want to start with to round out my role choices -- and whether or not I want to grab a different melee DPS.
Start with Gladiator! Like the idea of the sword and shield and be up front in the battle.
nah just watching this cause i'm bored
Same
pretti effects gud
What I got from the tank section is that Paladin's invulnerability skill makes them an immovable object, while warrior's turns them into an unstoppable force.
I started with marauder, btw
Banger vid!!!
Banger comment
I'm personally curious, but as somebody who enjoys variety in their combat options when playing DPS and enjoys supportive actions over DPS actions when playing tank or healer (Though support in DPS is nice too), what classes would be best suited?
Paladin, monk, scholar/sage.
ffxiv is designed such that every job's predominant responsibility ends up having to do with damage output in one way or another. The goal of every healer is more or less to do as little healing as possible without causing deaths while maximizing their damage output through spending every possible gcd on damage and aligning their major dps cooldowns with raid buffs. Tanks, meanwhile, have dps-esque damage rotations with defensive cooldowns that are largely uniform in their effects, and enmity management is a functional non-mechanic (tanks get 10x enmity generation with stance on; hit something once and it's yours) in order to prioritize focus on the dps rotation. There is no job where you can prioritize support actions *over* dps without functionally playing the job wrong - Paladin's Clemency, for example, is a high-potency direct heal but it happens on the global cooldown so it's almost never worth using unless your healers are dead because it forces you to sacrifice damage to use and your healer can perform the same job much more effectively anyway.
That said, the jobs that have the most varied non-dps-related utility are probably Warrior, Paladin, Sage, and Scholar. Among tanks, Warrior has a group-wide shield/heal from Shake it Off and the ability to heal other party members without a damage cost through Nascent Flash, while Paladin (despite clemency being a Bad Button) has its short-cooldown mitigation Intervention that can target other players and Cover, an unfortunately very very niche ability that lets you take damage intended for another player. For healers, Scholar or Sage win purely from the perspective that shield healers feel like you're doing more work on the utility end of things by shielding and mitigating proactively rather than healing reactively.
red mage, it's a ranged caster that becomes a melee attacker in its burst phase while being able to heal people in a pinch and chain resurrect multiple people who die. It also has a party wide defensive ability that gives magic defense and an increased healing received buff.
Not in this server, but I'm doing all tanks and all melee dps. And my main is samurai cuz it's cool!
Pick the job you think looks coolest he says. Here’s me maining dancer cause sometimes easy button mashing jobs are just what’s needed when you’ve just hopped onto FFXIV after a long day
Dancer, Red Mage, Dark Knight, Sage. Those are my four, which means I have to start as something else on a new character. My first and now fourth character started as Arcanist.
am i already set being a sage main with dancer secondary? do i have multiple jobs to level 90? am i doing savage content? yes, yes and yes. did i still watch and enjoy this video? hell yes. very good video again rinon!!
I wanna play Blue Mage on current stuff, its just so fun. Probably my favorite class in all of FF. The power of Nature beats all.
But now that I'm thinking on it, should probably play a dps class, so thats why I'm watching.
Started a bit after Shadowbringers launched as an archer. Play a bit of everything and enjoy every job in their own way. The only jobs I think are somewhat boring to play are Warrior and Dancer. Mains for each role: Gunbreaker/Dark Knight for Tank, Scholar/Astrologian for Healer, Monk for Melee DPS, Bard for Ranged DPS, Black Mage for Caster. But you really should have mentioned the best job: Blacksmith.
I started as a marauder, swapped to conjurer, and I'm currently settled into playing scholar 😂 which I'm maining now.
Small Errata - AST Macrocosmos does only initial cast damage, the following explosion Microcosmos does only heal at potency 200 + 50% compiled damage during Macrocosmos.
Also while good video, maybe use a bit of fade between section, the sudden cut was a bit distracting, at least for me :)
Last time i played, i was practicing Reaper rotations. Second most fun job IMO
Honestly, it was hard to pick which job I wanted to main. A friend who got me into the game said, level all of them; but pick one main for each role. I main Paladin as Tank, Ninja for Melee DPS, Bard for Ranged DPS, Red Mage for MDPS, and Sage for Healer. Though funny enough, I started as a Arcanist into Summoner lol.
Help can't progress MSQ because I keep leveling up classes
Out of topic, your Miqo'te looks so much like mine ❤
I am not surprised considering the character creator doesn't have many options and therefore it is especially easy as Miqo'te to look the same-
Start black mage so you dont have tou level it up later in the off chance you wanna try it, that's my advice. Also big explosion
I started with an Arcanist then SCH just to finish ARR and change to MCH immediately because of gun aesthetic.
MCH is still my MSQ main, but I love playing healers, just SCH is not my cup of tea.
I played WHM after I reached cap of level 60 free trial (back to that day), and I love WHM. After finishing EW MSQ, I started SGE, and I love SGE the most. SGE became my raid main immediately and my sub is WHM (yes, I am capable of playing both H1 and H2 positions).
But the cherry on top, I played DNC as well because my friend's main are WHM and SMN, so we can play together as D3-H1 pair or D4-H2 pair (so when positioning mistakes, we don't get angry at rando).
I had a big job crisis when I went ahead and leveled all of my jobs to 80 for the Amaro (aside from Sage, but after a little playing of it, I am half interested in leveling it, lol). I started the game as a White Mage, when I finally got to Heavensward (after leveling another character playing a tank), I switched to DRK. And that's where I stayed for a while, leveled Scholar (because summoner is convenient), Ninja/Reaper, and Dancer so I could get role quests done. Then I wanted the mount, and my struggle began.
I eventually settled that I would play as Warrior... Until Dawntrail comes out, in which case I will likely play Pictomancer because that actually looks so fun stylistically. So the Job crisis is still in swing, but I imagine that's partially normal when you start digging into all classes. (Don't ask about DoH/DoL. We don't talk about DoH/DoL.)
Literally the same. Im playing War until pictomancer comes out haha
Wow. I’m new, and had no idea how in depth the combat mechanics are. I thought it was just button mashing lol
I'm new in ffxiv and started with war. Now have war80 whm80 reaper82 and pld52 :p
Play Black Mage because I told you too
understood
im new, got machinist to 90 and just got to 650 ilvl playing on controller and looking at the other jobs felt like i needed to switch to keyboard. i like not having to switch thru sets to do a rotation and decent dmg. idk felt bad having to remeber multiple button combination and was more like a tekken game having to spam r1 3 times a lot and lets not talk about the targeting i find it very bad
I don’t feel like typing a lot but I’ve been on controller for a few years and it’s best to deselect and change around some settings for targeting and as for buttons I would say put everything across all your jobs in the same orientation if that makes sense like all main combos on rt plus face buttons and all gap closers on the double tap and x ( ps controller) so you build and keep up the muscle memory across all the jobs it makes it become second nature over time
Also ginger prime he may have change his name offers some really good settings for controller that may or may not help depending on the player but I think they worth looking into
Hello, im new. I’m a conjurer but I wanna do white mage or Astrologian. Can I do both on the same character? I love my smol healer :3
You can play every job on the same character!
@@RinBanana thanks for the quick reply! I like White Mage for the OPness and I like Astrologian for the challenge. But I’m not understanding what I need to do to unlock Astro? I have all the DLC but I haven’t reached end game yet. Do I need to level all the way up then start Astro at 30? Cuz rn I’m 34 Conjurer
Sorry for all the questions 😅 haven’t played since before Realm Reborn so everything is kinda new feeling
@@Quantum_Bluntz Don't know if you still need an answer. But the answer is that you need to finish the base game main story. And continue the expansion main story until you unlock the new big city.
It's in that city that you can unlock Astrologian, Dark Knight and Machinist.
@@halosaft ah thanks but yeah I’m good now. 🤝
My main was BLM and then switched over to WHM THEN switched to RDM 😍
Nice vid, maybe I should pick up a couple of new jobs! I didn't realise blm and mnk looked that cool up close, which as a rdm/dnc main is the only thing that matters tbh
Me and ninja are totally fine here fell in love as soon as I unlocked fleeting raiju ⚡️
That's the last think you unlock :s good thing they added it
I was gonna go fem roe warrior but I think a fem roe full plate paladin would be sooo much cooler
Can I play Dancer on free trial game if i make it to level 60?
No, Free Trial includes base game, Heavensward and Stormblood. But Dancer came in the Shadowbringer expansion, so you wouldn't be able to access Dancer until you buy the full game.
I got an RMT ad before this video. :(
Yeah I've noticed RMT sites have started taking out RUclips ads, it's kind of insane
This video really helped me find my dream job thank you!
brother the video hasn't even been out for a minute, how
He was watching on 6x speed
Was it aesthetician
@@RinBanana No it was triple triad
I feel like the Summoner section should include a "changes every expansion" asterisk :)
I always end up maining random jobs i never expected i would like lol
What glamour is on the tank weapons?
Pld, drk and gnb had the final stage of endwalker relic weapons
@@uthoryan9151 ah the Maderville thing finally I will return to finish it. Cheers mate
I would have added a small disclaimer with AST and DRG that they are being reworked. As a DRG main, that is kinda scary since my partner is a SMN main and he said they lobotomized it. I’m unsure if MNK has a self damage mit but if it does then DRG is the only melee DPS without one. In rare instances when tank dies and DPS gets aggro, those mits are life saving. I’d also add that DRG’s AOE’s unlock later than other melee DPS’s making them kinda meh in 4 man dungeons up until lv 70-72 when they finally get their third AoE. I understand you’re showing the positives, it’s a fantastic class, but 4 man dungeons can be rough at low levels with a ballsy tank lol
Other than my unwarranted input, this is a great video. Wish I would have seen this when I started. My partner said the same exact thing you did about choosing a starting class; go with what you like. Everything is so well-balanced that there isn’t a “superior” class.
Also, BLU is the best class ever to use in roulettes and queuing for other content. They are designed solely for roulettes, MSQ, and anything else involving other classes and are NOT forced to play with only their kind like some feral beast :D
I can't get past the Square Enix registration final boss to even play the game, I gave up trying. I wanted to play this game too...
What class did you start as?
Conjurer
Me, watching this video full knowing I’m probably only gonna take Dragoon to Dawntrail: Ah yes, more Rinon content to feast on
Too bad for harder content (savage/ultimates/extremes) I'm obligated to main healer because of my ping issue, which is usually 200ms+, and I can't do the optimal rotations.... hence I chose Sage
It’s WILD just how much better this game looks on pc!
6:58 Living Dead doesn't work like this anymore. It was reworked in Endwalker to not kill you during Living Dead. That being said, its a smidge more complicated now (its like a dual phase thing, where you hit Invuln, you take all the dmg but can't go below 1HP and then at the end of it Living Dead becomes another buff where you heal back all the DMG you took) but you don't have to make your healers cry anymore because you ate it from your own tank invuln.
I know how living dead works LOL - I just didn't specifically note the change in buff because it's unnecessary confusion for new players. You can still absolutely die under Living Dead - if your GCDs line up wrong or you don't crit, your self healing is not enough alone
yappingway
Jesus Christ red mage is so cool
Came back to FF14 because available on Xbox now!
As someone who has only played bard for the week that I’ve played the game, I will probably come back a few more times 😂
Tanking is my game. When I started and had to choose between Paladin and Warrior, Paladin was an easy choice and after almost 3 years it is still my main job. I also love Dark Knight and Gunbreaker, but Warrior is boring due to its overpowered self-sustaining. It really needs adjustment for Dawntrail to make it more interesting again.
YEEEEEES, warrior feel so boring even though its so overpowered, i main lvl 90 dark and level 90 sage, love them both, thinking about getting black mage maybe
instructions unclear, Moon Flute caught in ceiling fan
Sounds like a job for a Flying Sardine
Yeah totally new.......nearly 600 days playtime starting in stormblood xD i love videos like this even if they really aren't for me.
Obligatory "What about Blue Mage?!" KEKW
Paladin: I won't let you get to them!
Warrior: DON'T TURN YOUR BACK ON ME!
