Thanks mate! Yes, I couldn't bare to see this one get scrapped out, for the sake of a little bit of work. It came out super nice and drives real smooth. I was even more stoked when it flew through its warrant of fitness (roadworthy test). Thanks for the positive feedback
Sometimes I think restoring something like this, throwing some nice springs and shocks at it is funner than having a nice car and chasing big power. These things (at least vy's) are about 20 years old. In another 8 to 10 they are going to inflate like the vp-vs' have already. Nice job mate. Wish I could repair paint 😅
Hey mate, for sure! These cars are fairly straight forward to work on and there are still plenty of parts around, so, a lot can be done on a budget. I couldn’t paint either (still not perfect), but the best way to learn is just give it a go, fail a little, improve and then after a few times you’ll start to feel proud of your work. Good luck with whichever project you choose, and thanks for the positive feedback!
Man, not as rough of a life as that Falcon of yours had eh! I was stuck as they stopped delivering the local papers over the break, so i had this full recycling bin of endless masking paper lol.... It was good to save this one from the wreckers, as the engine has no timing chain rattles or codes popping up, so at least the previous owner kept up with servicing, pretty much mainly cosmetics. Thanks mate!
@Non Rasputin haha yeah the old falcon definetly lived its best life 20 years ago. Haven't touched it this year yet.. feeling bad. Soon.. good work man. Saved a car and recycled in the process 😆
Nice vid I just got a VX Commodore that I’m going to Restore your videos are inspiring to watch these old commodores will go up soon better get them cheap now !!👍
That’s awesome man, glad to hear it! Just a few weekends, tick all the items off the list and before you know it, you’ve got a car you’re proud of! Thanks for the comment mate
That’s awesome, I love seeing quick transformations like this. It’s scrubbed up really well. Just needs a set of centre caps which are about $60 AUD off eBay
Hey mate, thanks for the feedback! I prefer quick projects over long ones eh, too impatient! Lol… just put the caps on yesterday, it completed the look to a tee
What we call a cop magnet in Oz. Guaranteed to get you at least double the unwanted attention compared to most other vehicles. You can double the level attention again if you’re displaying P plates. Popular choice of vehicle for young blokes with only $2-3K to spend. The secondhand value of older Commodores and Falcons(pre 2010) is slowly increasing since production stopped.
Hahaha this side of the ditch too, they can arouse some attention, mainly because a lot of the VY/VZ’s, as well as the AU and B series falcons are being used as skid pigs. It’s a shame really, they are a good car when looked after, hence why I was so happy to save this peach! Cheers mate
Hi mate, just a quick question if I were to buy a crash damage car that has been deregistered from turners what are the processes of getting it back on the rd? Cheers
Hey mate, if the rego just lapsed, then you would need to get it re-registered by going through like a hardcore warrant of fitness, which means any defect would need to be fixed (any leaks, rust spots etc). If it was written off, you would need to get an engineers report to show it had been fixed and all issues addressed, and only then you can go through the re registration process as above. I tend to avoid deregistered cars as the whole process can be expensive and time consuming
I think it comes down to how it’s been kept and treated (at least mechanically) that makes the difference eh, but cheers for the comment mate, appreciated!
@@nonrasputin9260 I think the better word is inspired to work on mine I'm pumped to clean her up and make her look great thanks to this vid thanks heaps mate!
Mate, it might be time to pull out the engine and do a quick replacement, a decent alloytech engine should be fairly easy to come by, I’d recommend it for a cool mini project!
Lol, maybe the next one eh… I’m not sure if the alloytechs make the same mang mang sound as the earlier Buick v6’s, I’m too scared to push it to find out…
I wouldn't touch a VZ with a bargepole. A VY series 2 yes, A VX series 2 yes, A VE series 2......but never a VZ. They had so many faults not worth pissing on.
The Vz gets a bad rap, usually due to poor maintenance causing engine failure etc, but yeah, I hear what you are saying, but I’m like a doctor, all patients get seen in my surgery (garage)…
@@nonrasputin9260 ..............Ok. I have known people I've worked with in my Industry who'd worked at Holden at Dandenong and Elizabeth and all three told me the VZ, VN & VT were THE worst build quality and many mech and electrical faults. Apparently the VY Series 2 were the peak of Holden vehicles? I'd love to find a nice White VS series 2 Esteem like I had before or Berlina and lower it, simmons wheels, twin exhaust, power chip and turn it into a masterpiece. Some of the VX series 2 Berlina's and Calais modified looked great too. Well, good luck with this VZ.
Awesome work! Definitely good to see another VZ back on the road!

Hahahaha cheers mate! As soon as it gets to 16 degrees over here in Nz… jandals on, brother!
Samoan safety boots
There are no more Commodore in production, saving each and every one of them is a must.
Absolutely man, once they have gone to the scrappers, they won’t be coming back… adopt a project today!
brilliant turn around. Well done. A pleasure to watch the transformation.

Hey mate when you painter the back wing, was there a colour difference between new and old paint or did it blend pretty well?
It wasent too bad of a match to be honest, and was definitely 100% better than how it was previously. Quite hard to tell the difference. Cheers mate
Awesome to see you saving some Australian cars! Now the question is when is the next?
Thanks mate, its a calling! lol... I'm filming one now, watch this space, be sure to subscribe so you don't miss out

Alloytech though
