Just got an 11 seven hybrid to see if i could get on with them ,major factor for me is the easy playability an the massive gain in confidence i now have hitting in from 160 yards . i dont think the mid, high handicap golfer need a club that is ultra adjustable to me its more to tinker with rather than hitting a good shot with the right club . Can well see me getting more 11's.
Cobra f7 for me. Been using for 3 seasons now, bought for $75 Canada.. not leaving the bag anytime soon. But those eleven hybrids are pretty good for the money.
James you are 100% right on shorter shaft lengths. I shortened mine 3/4 " about 5 years ago and it was like magic. I hit them longer with a better ball flight after doing that. It is amazing the difference it makes !
On these club brands instead of saying cheap I would use inexpensive. As cheap refers to not being worth much, as in not good. Where as inexpensive means good quality but cost less.
I really like the concept of shorter hybrid shafts. I have cut down my hybrid shafts an inch. Much more consistent, much more control. The “distance race” with longer and longer shafts over the last decade has not been beneficial for average golfers. But they probably sell more golf balls… Thumbs up for eleven! I could easily game them in 3-6 hybrid.
As long as the discount clubs use a decent shaft they will perform just as well as the premium clubs. Fairway woods are great I use one but by site fairway woods never suit my eye over the ball
Hi James. I've just switched to the Acer SR1 woods. 10.5 driver, 3,5, and 7 wood. All have same length 42" shaft. They are so easy and accurate to hit.
My suggestion to new and seasoned golfers when they are curious about hybrids is to go with Adams. Adams was the king of hybrids in the 2010s, so much so that Taylormade bought them out and used the same technology. A pre owned Adams hybrid on eBay are low cost, premium shafts and perform as well as anything on the market currently. I have two DHY driving irons and three hybrids from Adams in my spare bag to mix things up when weather changes.
Great video James, a very interesting comparison on performance v price, a high handicapper would still do well to have a try of both, because it's the feel that matters, ie my brother has a budget Callaway set from Costco, when he tried my Mizuno ST-MAX 4 hybrid he found it felt a little heavier in the head and I was lucky to get it back from him. So try before you buy is always advisable if it's possible.
I have a single length 4h, I find the 7i length makes it versatile and so easy to use from: tees, fairways, rough, divots, fairway bunkers etc. It's also good for chipping and bump and run shots around the green and I even putt with it occasionally.
I’ve gone half-way, cost wise, after trying out Cobra One Length whilst in the US. Picked up two minty mint One Length Aerojets - 4h and 5h for not much more than the 11’s, and they work great. Yes the shafts are obviously shorter (7i length), but it means for me at least, I hit the middle almost every time. So pleased was I with the result, that I found a standard Aerojet 6h and had it shorted to match. Just need to get some weight back in the head to balance the swing weights to the others. Hybrids are so much easier than long irons, and maybe even mid- irons for some of us, and a shorter shaft shouldn’t be an issue, distance wise. There are options out there without spending big.
I love my 11 hybrids. I don't even mind the knitted headcover. The extended "sock" protects the shafts in the bag. Just a thought, I know you're a long way from needing a buggy although you do use one sometimes, but I'm getting to the point of needing one regularly because of a back issue. How about reviewing individual ride on buggies? I wouldn't have a clue which are good bad or indifferent.
lets see 3 Eleven's clubs for the price of 1 Callaway I'll take the elevens any day and I think i just may get a whole set awesome thanks for this great review James well done cheers from Vulcan Canada
I bought a full set of forgan hybrid irons 3-pw for £199. cracking clubs, go straight, easy to hit. My old clubs are a set of John letters PGA tour blades (I learnt with these) given from my great uncle. Love how soft and forgiving the forgans are (and the price) I won't get rid of the John letters though still fun to use occasionally.
I will take the Eleven please. Higher flight so steeper stopping. Behavior of a 7 wood. Massive fan of 5 Hybrids ( 175-190 yards) in the same bag as 7 wood. ( 190-210 yards) Hybrid just great at long bump and runs, ( under trees or a shot that needs to stay waist high in flight but go a 100 yards)
Don't know if Callaway makes a 7 or 8 hybrid, but whatever they offer with the same lofts as Eleven's 7 & 8 hybrids, I know they are a LOT more $$ and for most of us seniors probably harder to hit - my Eleven 7 hybrid has made a huge difference in my "iron" game and as I appreciate, saved me a large bundle of cash !!
James, your statement ref buying great value vs expensive shit, priceless. I'm with you. I agree, if you can hit a cheaper club the same as the expensive club, the decision gets easier. The Eleven hybrid was a at least a 1.5" shorter length. That probably explains the edge on distance to the Calloway. However, for the duffers like me, I know I get more consistency with shorter clubs and tighter dispersion. Before I knew anything about golf as a teen, everyone had a used set of "standard" length clubs. However, I got fitted by Ping way back in the mid-80s. Because I am rather short, guess what? I was far from standard. 3 degree flatter lie, 1.5" shorter shafts. My scores plummeted. Consistency and tighter shot groups, that will cut scores fast. Value (price) does affect us all. Lots of competition for everyone's pay out there.
Are you able to get Lazrus clubs? I have would love to see their hybrids against others as well. Actually all their clubs minus the wedges. Those have been reviewed a bunch.
I did try these and bought the Callaway, it was longer and more forgiving for me, with ability to work the shot. The extra costs and lack of more shaft options turned me off. As well as the shipping costs.
Budget? You ever heard of Golf Clubs 4 Cash? Until someone proves to me the advantages of paying an extra £200 to buy this year’s latest model that hits it all of three gnats’ knee caps further than the model from 3 years ago, I will stick with second hand or budget thanks very much
@@JamesRobinsonGolf Apparently not a great one James but yes. I know you are a huge ambassador for the GC4C guys indeed, I have seen you in there. I love the fact that you constantly challenge golf’s obsession with new, expensive kit. Every club in my bag has been bought from GC4C in Warrington and I have a great set up which suits me perfectly at my level. I think I saved myself over £1300 compared to what I would have to pay for new equivalents that are simply not that much better. Yes, if you buy great new clubs at decent prices, fantastic. But no one is telling me it would be worth spending the extra on a set of JPX 925’s to replace my 921 HMP’s if the benefit is 5 inches of extra distance and an improvement in forgiveness that my game is not good enough to appreciate. Keep up the great work mate!
Problem with the elevens is they last about 70 or so rounds, they end up with a battered face and club needs changing, my pal who uses the full set, changes them every year, so not as inexpensive as it first seems
James and Chris are the two hardest working RUclipsrs in the golf sector
Based on.....?

Oh shut up you

Great video for people who want new on a budget. Thanks James
Brilliant James, you’ve definitely got it that clubs are way too expensive 👍 you and Chris are the most watchable on RUclips 🏌️

Bobby combs his hair with a firecracker. Lol😂.

I have the 4 & 5 Eleven clubs and I am a high handicapper. I love them and I do think the shaft length plays a part.

I would buy the eleven all day, and use the money saved to upgrade other areas of the bag.
Good morning, from the Villages Florida 🙏

Hybrid just great at long bump and runs, ( under trees or a shot that needs to stay waist high in flight but go a 100 yards)
With the shorter shaft length you can easily strengthen the loft gain some distance and still hit straight
Isn’t the shorter shaft on the Eleven because it is meant to be an iron replacement so iron length not a hybrid

Amazing price for the eleven hybrid and I for one would give one a go if they are available in left hand
James any news on takomo copper or black irons yet I'm waiting for them 👍
I did try these and bought the Callaway, it was longer and more forgiving for me, with ability to work the shot. The extra costs and lack of more shaft options turned me off. As well as the shipping costs.
I really like the look of the Elevens set I'd love to try them
I have just purchased Cobra Darkspeed 24 degree hybrid for just over $100.00. My prior hybrid caused me to hook awful. 2nd Swing Golf.
Golf is way to expensive these days. 🤷♀️ good to see competition. 👍
would love to try 11 hybrids one day.
Mizuno makes the CLK iron hybrid replacements that have shorter shafts from the factory
how can anyone argue which club is value for money, not cheap, VALUE. love your work James
A better comparison would have been the Eleven and the Callaway Big bertha hybrid which is aimed at a similar golfer.
Way to go James nice video
Winter? In America we'd just like fall to come! Extended summer another 2 weeks...
5:57 no links ?
What shaft was in the Eleven one James?
KBS

Is this a joke?
Afraid so James just not a good one

Why don’t you play with theaveragegolfer?
Buy 3 for the same money as one Cally🤔
Just buy a rouge st max hybrid for £149 brand new
headspeed numbers range from 95 to 121 mph, seems wrong to me
This has to be the most forgiving club of 2024, right?
Any woman would agree two inches could make a big difference 😂😂😎👍
Problem with the elevens is they last about 70 or so rounds, they end up with a battered face and club needs changing, my pal who uses the full set, changes them every year, so not as inexpensive as it first seems
Bang for buck 11 all the way
IONo why people hate hybrids.
They look god awful at address in the higher lofts. Give me an iron any day of the week!
Looks like 2 inches doesn't make that much difference.......BRB........have to have a talk with my wife
