Worked for Bob Toski when he was Director of Golf at Palmetto Dunes Resort I Hilton Head Island SC mid 70s. Bob and Jim Flick were mentors Taught with Golf Digest School there. Saw Bob do this drill many times. Great memories
I started playing at 26, I'm now 79 and just found out how to swing a driver. WOW||| I expect my 25 handicap to start going down , after I have been on my knees and got up again. Thanks Simon/ Liam.
What you said about body reacting to the swing is exactly what Earnest Jones says in his book and I think you are the only tube teacher I,ve heard say that bloody good lesson you do thanks say that
I subscribed for that one Golf Mates 👍..and thanks for reminding us that there were golfers like Bob Toski who coached sound fundamentals that are still relevant to the average club golfer today.. and that Golf is fun.
I was taught this drill in the late ‘80s, and got really good at it. I won many bets with it too (i’ll hit it as far or farther than you, but from my knees)
Ingenious golf drill , with Terra firma in the way . Well worth getting your knees wet for this one , testy out of season one could have shows us in spring Summer maybe 😄😂 Always great to see Simon Edwards great coach like the other previous golf mates videos also
I love it ,I remember doing this as a young golf mate ,now I’m 61 good advise never changes . Tell me lads ,I struggle with early extension, would Simon have a fix for me ? ❤❤❤❤
There's a great You Tube video of maybe the best creative golfer of all times Seve Ballesteros playing a shot on his knees from under some trees Amazing
There was a Bob Toski designed golf course here in Myrtle Beach, one of the two courses at a place called Deer Track. I thought it was a good course, but sadly both courses were closed a while ago for housing development.
Bob is actually 98 now, Simon was underestimating the great mans age. Bob also did a range of clubs for Custom Clubbuilders years ago...not sure if he still has that business or just sold his name like Jack🤔
The golfer in the background would do well to stop the practise positions he is doing and become a Golf Mate, where he can be royally entertained plus get some great coaching ta boot.Awesome, but strictly for my my back garden with a plastic ball where i can't be seen.
I’d get down, but, it would take at least 2 people to get me back up. Mr Finch obviously learned that early in his career, remember seeing what he did against Pete, 😂
80% of the speed of the club comes from the body motion? Where does the other 20% come from? Does the club somehow swing itself? The golf club is an inert object. Although, it does have almost magical engineering and physics, 100% if the energy is produced by the player. The golf club is not a mindless stick that needs to be manipulated. If used properly it does exactly as it was engineered and designed to do on it's own.
im 65 , i dont care what i look like at the range !! Only problem is .... its taken me 33 minutes to get back on my feet and comment :)
Best comment ever...I feel your pain Sir! 😂😂😂
i guess for some it's a drill that requires 2 people 1 to watch and help you get up.

YAY!!! The return of coaching sessions with Simon Edwards! Thanks, Liam!

Excellent. There’s a video of Tiger challenging a guy who
Is standing up to hit it further from His knees.
What you said about body reacting to the swing is exactly what Earnest Jones says in his book and I think you are the only tube teacher I,ve heard say that bloody good lesson you do thanks
say that
I laughed out loud! “…if you can get back up..” 😂 You know us so well!
I subscribed for that one Golf Mates 👍..and thanks for reminding us that there were golfers like Bob Toski who coached sound fundamentals that are still relevant to the average club golfer today.. and that Golf is fun.
This is the best explanation of how the golf swing works i have ever seen, thanks Golf mates, you simplify the nonsense

Really interesting drill. Can see how it might help us mid handicappers who lack consistency.Good coaching video Liam .Thank you!
Tried this tonight and it took me seven swings before hitting the tee! I love this and hit it straight down the middle!! Thanks Simon 👍👍
Nice one Simon . Just shows the importance of a good strike .
Brilliant video Liam and Simon I will have to give it a miss my knee injury
Old school drills are still valid and useful, thanks for the booster shot of a lesson.
That's really worth a shot! I will try it next time on the range, thanks for sharing this with us.
Ingenious golf drill , with Terra firma in the way . Well worth getting your knees wet for this one , testy out of season one could have shows us in spring Summer maybe 😄😂
Always great to see Simon Edwards great coach like the other previous golf mates videos also
Great to see Simon back, and looks like a simple drill,.(Though I do think I`ll struggle to do it correctly)
always looking for new tips towards using my driver , thank you Liam & Simon.
Liam, this reminds me of the best shot ever made on Golf Mates. Peter Finch roped a drive from his knees.
Great stuff, lads.
Thanks Simon 👍
Great video Golfmates and Simon, Great Tip, Love this content
Excellent informative video!
Definitely trying that. Thanks.
love it, just love it, 100 % as you would say.
Mind blowing I'll be giving that one a go👍
Dave still has the best drill. The one where you tee up 3 ball next to each other and focus on only hitting the middle one.
Great seeing g Rick Flair back on the channel with Liam with great training drills. Keep up the great work.
Wwwhhhhoooo
The stylin', profilin', limousine riding, jet flying, kiss-stealing, wheelin' and dealin' son of a gun....WOOOOOOOO!
Thanks for drill , love the music at the end
I love it ,I remember doing this as a young golf mate ,now I’m 61 good advise never changes . Tell me lads ,I struggle with early extension, would Simon have a fix for me ? ❤❤❤❤
In your stance make sure your butt isn't too far behind your heels and keep your trail heel down in your downswing, until it has to lift.
Brilliant video keep it up.
I wanted to see Liam actually hit a ball whilst on his knees. You know, the position Mr Barlow often has him in:)
goood stuffffffff mates
Freakin brilliant.

Will this help with the other clubs?
Hitting off the ground is inconsistent
I’ve seen Tiger do this drill Liam.
I am still trying to to get up
If I come home with grass stains on my knees my misses is gonna ask questions 😂
Used to play 18 holes on our knees when we were young, ahh to be able to do that again 😢
l saw a video with TW doing that has well
I’ve seen tiger do this ❤
If only I could kneel down (and get up again!) 😂😂
Might look a bit silly on the driving range but hey ho give it a go
Tiger Woods would always do this at his clinics to show off, and demonstrate where most of the speed in the golf swing comes from.
You know what I mean, YAP!
Bob is actually 98 now, Simon was underestimating the great mans age.
Bob also did a range of clubs for Custom Clubbuilders years ago...not sure if he still has that business or just sold his name like Jack🤔
I could hear my knees saying..”Make the bad man stop, daddy!” Off to the diy shop tomorrow to buy some knee pads.👍🏻
Are people going to look at me like im round the bend on the range tomorrow trying this drill? I dont care. Love golf mates little tips 👍🏻🏌️♂️⛳
There’s a clip of long driver Jamie Sadlowski hitting driver 330yds from his knees, so this guy definitely knows what he’s talking about
Like I’m really going to do that at the range 😂😂😂😂
I saw you , you looked daft .
Can Mr Marlow demonstrate? I’ll believe in it if he can strike one down the middle
Great tip - IF - you can get down on your knees and probably 70% of the seniors watching this can't!
I’m going to try that. If you don’t see another comment from me, I’m stuck on my knees!
I was disappointed that you never actually hit a ball Liam.
The golfer in the background would do well to stop the practise positions he is doing and become a Golf Mate, where he can be royally entertained plus get some great coaching ta boot.Awesome, but strictly for my my back garden with a plastic ball where i can't be seen.
What on earth are you doing in Egypt?😂with the guy from Carus?
Last December
some cereals got swollen by the pc when Si inhaled
I follow Mike Malaska, he's a Bob Toski deciple
Simon just got thousands of golfmates on their knees!!! 😅
wanted to see Liam try to hit a ball
I’d get down, but, it would take at least 2 people to get me back up. Mr Finch obviously learned that early in his career, remember seeing what he did against Pete, 😂
10 year old video from Mike bender says same thing. Intent has to arms swing and body follows. Teaching the other way around is horse shift
Tiger got on his knees and roped one out there like 280
At my age ? Not a hope in heck !!! 😅
so the real peter finch was definitelly onto something :D
Return of Rik Flair
How many lessons has Liam had🙈
You would definitely get wet trousers. If you get wet pants, you have a different problem.
Directions unclear: Now I’m in a back brace. 😂
It’s a difficult thing to do with my knees lol
A Finchy special
👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏🥰🥰🥰🥰
Great drill but not for the prosthetic leg lol
I remember where, on one of your vlogs, a golfer (Finch?) hit a driver from his knees and hit the green from like 250 yards!
80% of the speed of the club comes from the body motion? Where does the other 20% come from? Does the club somehow swing itself? The golf club is an inert object. Well looks like I’m going to look a right idiot at the driving range 😂🤣 but what a drill 👍
So why didn’t you hit one🤔😂
And of course we have seen (the real) Pete Finch hit it 300 yards from that position ...
Why does Simon always wear a hoody when he's in these hot places haha
An 80-year-old man with a 110 mph swing?? That's the minimum speed needed to hit a 300 yds with a perfect smash factor
Good content, but I enjoy vids of the lads playing a round more so. However it is what it said on the tin
This dude needs to see a doctor. He growls like a Lion when he breaths in.
Over 80 hitting it over 300 yards sounds like bullshit to me..
Just another golf video
No clue then
