    To calibrate: install, connect, turn key on, use voltmeter to test voltage on red and yellow wire- safety pins pushed into wire.
    With throttle body closed, .5 volts; throttle body open, 4.5. This is on a 94 civic lx 1.5

    I did a b18 engine swap on my 96 civic. The engine is the same 96 obd2a as the car. So I would imagine the tps sensor plug would fit am I right? Thing is I can't find the plug anywhere. 🤔🔌

    My 1990 civic crx si w/349,000 just this morning threw this CEL code. Original B16 was swapped with a D16.
    Hopefully a snapped out plug & nothing bigger.
    Is the TPS located on the 1990 similarly ( I don't have vtech hooked up as 1990 is still OBD0
    Any & all considerate feedback on what to do is MUCH appreciated!!!
    Step by step is good.
    All worked great on Saturday, but Sunday it showed the CEL about 1/2 way to work.
    * I'll try resetting ECU first
    * then looking for loose / broken wire(s)]
    * tighten throttle cable to remove small amount slack from wear & tear.

    Put multi meter in and look up specs for voltage output at idle while turning the assembly prior to locking bolts down. Slide jumpers through rubber to make contact, get proper voltage output, lockdown bolts, then good. Nice technique on the locking bolts though.

    If the TPS was bad or going out wouldn't it come up in the Codes?
    The only thing I am having problems with is surging only when the car warms up.
    When I first start it, it's super smooth for over 6 minutes or more and usually I have to actually drive it
    before it starts to surge when I come to a stop... when I turn on head lights it stops! I was told it could be the TPS sensor.
    95 Del Sol. P.s. it's super strong and I have everything tuned in. It has immediate response, drives great, full power etc... just the surging now... ugh!

      On the bottom of the throttlebody is a small circular cover plate held with 3 or 4 phillips head screws. Remove that and you will find a large plastic looking nut. Back it off and clean the threads and apply a small drop of red loctite and snug it back up. Reassemble and enjoy normal idle.

    I see customers use these crappy aftermarket adjustable tps sensors all the time then the car comes in to me because they cant be calibrated. just this week had a 03 accord come in with sensor bad and car wouldn't come out of park. so he goes and buys this crap online because you cant find one locally because to do the job properly you should replace the throttle body and nobody sells just the sensor. well it didn't fix his problem so I now have the car and find he didn't calibrate it because most diy think its just a install part. so I go to calibrate and cant. clean out the throttle body and still cant. cable adjustment is ok. turns out the adjustment slot isn't enough to calibrate the piece of crap. so I have to pull it off after discussing with the customer and grind out the slot. do yourself a favor and do the job right and replace the throttle body.

    • @CodytheCarGuy
      @CodytheCarGuy  9 лет назад +3

      Your doing something wrong or something else is wrong because this has worked flawless and it was bought at a parts store here in town. I've done a k24 tps and had no problems either.

    • @monzsterman
      @monzsterman 9 лет назад

      Cody the Car Guy If you don't mind me asking is the parts store a big chain because all my customer say they cant get them at the parts store they have to order them on line. Like I said I don't buy them or install them. Customers do that then bring them to me because they don't work properly. I will install a throttle body only because I have seen my customers have such bad luck with them. The 03 accord I just did just to get the customer going got it online for $10.00 but like I said I had to grind the slots in it to get it with in range. He still came out ahead cheaper than buying a throttle body even after charging my labor but you shouldn't have to do that to a new part. Then again it was $10,00

      i just went to my local junkyard and got 1 off a civic my acura tl runs great now and it was only 20 bucks and could of easily been free if i took a hacksaw and flathead with me i had to buy the whole throttle body cause i didnt have a hack saw blade with me. the civic and acura tb aren't the same but the throttle postion sensor are the same. and if it goes out i can just unscrew it now no big deal. why change more parts than you have to?
