Neil: “Sometimes in this world, you see things you don’t want to see.” Michelle: “…Like you?” This made me laugh so much because Lonny Price (who plays Neil) experienced this exact quip! He’d went to a cinema to see the film when it was first released and a woman loudly sneered “Yeah, like you!” 😂
This movie is actually a lot better than I remember. The late Patrick Swayze was outstanding in this role. I hope Lia & Viki check this out too, Im sure they would love it. Fantastic reaction ladies. Thank You Ellie & Michelle.
A very factual representation of what Summer in the Catskills in Upstate New York in the 50's and 60's, where the wealthy from the City and Long Island would spend their vacations. There are documentary YT videos on this, and it is extremely fascinating and nostalgic to watch.
Fun facts: Kelly Bishop (Baby’s mom who says I think she gets that from me) was actually a dancer at the start of her career, even co-starred on Broadway in the original cast of the dance-heavy musical A Chorus Line and won a Tony Award. The late Jerry Orbach (Baby’s dad) was also a Broadway actor who starred in many classic musicals and won a Tony Award during his Broadway career as well; in addition to Dirty Dancing, most fans also know him best from the TV show Law & Order as Detective Lennie Briscoe and/or from the animated Beauty and the Beast movie as Lumiere the candelabra who sang Be Our Guest.
Patrick Swayze was way ahead of his time. The only Actor at the time that could appeal to both female (Dirty Dancing, Ghost) and male ( Roadhouse, Point Break) audiences.
A character said very early in the movie that Johnny hadn't been in a relationship with the dancer since they were kids. And of course that husband knew what he was paying for when he tried to get Johnny to give his wife "extra dance lessons."
Penny had an abortion by someone impersonating a doctor or a real crappy doctor. Johnny's cousin said in the beginning of the film that Johnny and Penny haven't been in a romantic relationship with each other since they were kids. Add that Robbie got Penny pregnant and you do the math.
Loved this so much! This movie came out when I was 9 years old. When it came out on VHS, me and a neighbor girl use to reenact the final scene. I'd come in and do the, "Nobody puts baby in the corner!" Then we would dance in front of the TV while it played. Patrick Swayze's mom was a dancer who owned a dance school, so he was probably dancing since he was very young. He also sang a song on the soundtrack called "She's Like The Wind". There was so much music from this movie that they had two albums of the soundtrack. The song from the end, "Ive Had The Time Of My Life" was a huge hit at the time. You should check it out. I don't think you guys have seen any of Patrick Swayze's other movies yet, but he died much too young. You should see the original "Point Break", "Ghost", and "Roadhouse" for starters. Oh! They did make another Dirty Dancing movie, but other than the dancing, it didn't have anything to do with the original. I think it was like Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights. I can't remember if I ever saw it. (Oh! Snap! I just looked it up. Itbstars Diego Luna from Andor! I had no idea. I didn't even know he was that old.) (Oh. It was made much later than the original, and he's like the same age as me. A year younger even. God! I'm old now!)
Not probably. Patrick learned dancing from his mother, classial ballet. And he was very good. And he met his wife there. She also learned dancing there. Unfortunatly he got injured by, i think it was football in school. So his ballet career war over. And then he became an actor and the rest is history. :)
@@atggarden5251 this is very random, but that comment just made me think of this. I wonder if Mikhail Baryshnikov is on this generation's radar. I think he was on "Sex and the City", so maybe they know him. He was the preeminent male dancer in the world in the 70s and 80s, and he was so big that he also did some acting. I always thought he was pretty cool. "White Nights" is kind of a classic cold war flick he did with Gregory Hines and Isabella Rosselini. You don't see Gregory Hines around anymore either, but I always liked him too. "Company Business" is another Baryshnikov flick with Gene Hackman that I liked. It's a lighthearted spy flick from right before the end of the Cold War, that I always thought was fun.
I personally did not mind dirty dancing Havana nights. and Patrick swayze has a smaller role in that movie as a dance instructor and he's handsome as ever
Fun fact- Bill Medley is one half of the duo singing "I've Had the Time of My Life". He also sang "You've Lost that Lovin' Feeling" from Top Gun, too, as one half of the Righteous Brothers.
Jennifer Grey (Baby) is the daughter of Oscar, Tony, and Golden Globe winning actor/cancer Joel Grey. She really could dance. You can see her using her dancer's legs in one particular scene from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. But not for dancing.😁
Very talented father and daughter 😊 He won the Tony for playing the Emcee in the musical Cabaret and went on to reprise his role in the film version with Liza Minnelli (another great performer with an equally talented and legendary parent in Judy Garland) and won the Oscar! One of the few actors who have both a Tony and an Oscar for playing the same role.

Too much words are piled up in my head to describe or explain how important this movie is to me. Part of it is, is that I love Patrick and Jennifer in this movie. They NAILED IT to the core! - but the music?????? Holy Hot Sauce!!! “I’ve had the time of my life” hits #1 BUT. The part where Baby talks to Johnny about her dad and then THAT song pops in like it owned the flippin atmosphere or something….HOLY CRAP. There’s something about the way it starts. This movie used to not make much sense to me because as a kid I always thought it was a movie about the 80's. I thought, well that's pretty tame for 80's dance moves. But then when I finally watched it in full I finally realized that it was an 80's movie about the 60's.
The scene that they were crawling around on the floor and lip syncing the words to "oh Baby" was totally improvised by them, the director just kept it in the movie. So the idea that they hated each other is bullshit.
I have been in the area this took place. The Southern Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York, USA. It used to be this way. This is the Music I grew up on. When they filmed the water scene, it was in October and the water was cold.

Up through the 1980's there were a lot of hotels in the Catskill Mountains a little north of New York City . They were called the Jewish Alps because so many New York Jews vacationed there . The food they served was even kosher . This hotel is one of those places .
One day, years ago, I got a craving for a Twinkie so I went to the local store, bought me a Twinkie went home, opened the Twinkie took one bite, and I asked myself “why?”. I know some people absolutely love Twinkies but to me there’s not a whole lot to it. I guess it’s a association with childhood thing, and I never got the association when I was a child.
Well, when we see the result, we can say it was worthy. This scene and the last final dance appears in the french movie " L'Arnacœur " where the characters watch the movie and do the dance. I discovered " Dirty Dancing " thanks to this movie 😅
It's funny you say this movie must've been so fun to film, because it was very nearly a disaster at every turn. That being said, it turned out great and is deservedly considered iconic, for a lot of reasons.
I recommend watching "Cocoon" 1985. So far, no one has done a reaction, and would love to see your opinions about it. t was pretty much ahead of its time
You've seen the guy in the beginning before in Jurassic Park and Space Jam. My mom watched this movie so many times when I was a kid, I'm still sick of the movie lol. Still love the soundtrack though.
What about a forgotten Disney movie called, "Dinosaur 2000" its scary and just unique for you and the girls to watch next if you wanted never gonna force somebody to do so.
Dirty Dancing never gets old. The soundtrack, the characters and the story. It just holds up so damn well. RIP Patrick Swayze

I think they did, and predictably it sucked.
You guys need to watch Ghost!!!!
You guys should watch Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The series is great and takes place late 50’s-early 60’s.
Ghost is also a good one
You say Baby looks so innocent. Well, the character is supposed to be 17 years old so I guess it's normal
It was not fun to make. It was freezing and they were in water. And for many other reasons this was very tough on set.
Well, when we see the result, we can say it was worthy.
This scene and the last final dance appears in the french movie " L'Arnacœur " where the characters watch the movie and do the dance.
I discovered " Dirty Dancing " thanks to this movie 😅
@The Homies, "Hey!..Ladies, suggestions for more dance movies: `Honey'(2003), `Save The Last Dance'(2001) &...`Dance With Me'(1998)."
It's funny you say this movie must've been so fun to film, because it was very nearly a disaster at every turn. That being said, it turned out great and is deservedly considered iconic, for a lot of reasons.
R I P Patrick
Dirty Dancing is like Star Wars for girls
I recommend watching "Cocoon" 1985. So far, no one has done a reaction, and would love to see your opinions about it. t was pretty much ahead of its time
how are you going to cut away right before the lift?
You've seen the guy in the beginning before in Jurassic Park and Space Jam. My mom watched this movie so many times when I was a kid, I'm still sick of the movie lol. Still love the soundtrack though.
Have you ladies seen the war movie Saving Ryan's Privates yet I can't remember if I watched you watching that or not.
You should react to Footloose (1984)!
Michelle always seems aloof and serious, it is really nice to see her romantic and softer side come out. Great to see her femininity. ☝🏻👍🏻 🙂
Movies: The Love Bug 1968, Goosebumps 1&2 and Rampage. Tv Show: Dinotrux please?
Please, watch the Ghost movie with the same actor.
Wish you would make the movie full screen, hard to see the movie.
Never before?? 😱
A little louder please I could barely hear with my earbuds or headphones
Thanks for your reaction to this movie.
I agree Footloose should be next
This is such a classic! Patrick Swayze was sooooo sexy. RIP🕊
The Homies should think about adding music reactions videos to your channel.
How about "along came Polly"
What about a forgotten Disney movie called, "Dinosaur 2000" its scary and just unique for you and the girls to watch next if you wanted never gonna force somebody to do so.
watch the "Ghost" with Patrick please:)
You need to react to Little Shop of Horrors the Director’s Cut which has the original ending.
