I'm glad these videos have had an impact on you. What else do you want to know beyond what I've already covered here? I feel like I covered your topics, but what specifically do you have questions about?
@@MatthewEncina I guess mostly they’re in the details that are left unsaid or oversimplified for the purpose of the video. However, if I could ask - I think it’s something that has to do with “unfair advantages” in terms of getting the right people (manufacturer & collabs) like it’s awesome if you already had strong connections with the right parts so that when you have ideas you can kind of just jump into it. But what about those who starts from scratch with an idea in mind? Any tips/advice in getting to, say “where you are” with lesser friction?

As an industrial designer myself working directly with manufacturers in china i can see your point on missing out on the details (and most of the process). As a case study for a super simple project (let's face it the guy designed some key caps) this video is okay but I think it portrays the process as simple and straight forward when it couldn't be more far off reality. As a UX designer I imagine you understand that for more challenging projects you need to proceed with user interviews, market research, viability analysis etc. and that's only on the research part! The main problems come with engineering & design verification/validation testing because it requires real physical prototypes that can be expensive and also most industrial designers have to also be product engineers solving mechanics, electronics, manufacturing, etc challenges at least at a semi deep level. So yeah as the saying goes hardware is hard, and industrial design can get much more challenging than graphics and one double-shot part!

Stellar. Congrats man!
Thank you!
I love this so much, as somebody who also wants to create hardware products one day.
Thanks for sharing this process so transparently. Truly feels like youtube university here :D
🙏🏽 I hope you bring your ideas to life
Really good looking and great product. I think I also need one.
Thank you
Another Mathew's masterpiece 🔥🔥

Craziest video so far. You're a One Man Army matthew.
Thanks, but I had a lot of help from my collaborators. Though it is fun to be able to have a hand in every step of the process.
@@MatthewEncina Truly inspiring 🙏🏻
Matthew you are so cool, feel blessed with your content and hope someday i will be like you making my concept into real products!

I saw the KBDFans post on IG about those keycaps a while back. Super cool design. Had no idea you were the designer coming into this video. Love your ideas! :)
I appreciate it!
Awesome project!

Hey Matthew, Great Video man!! Amazing work as always and those keycaps are so beautiful.
BTW if you have changed something in your studio please make a video about it.

I’m not the market for any of your products, but I really enjoyed the story. Very entertaining with a feel good ending.
Thank you for your generous support!
Congrats! 👏🏻
Thanks
Such a clean workspace. Looks like it came straight out of Pinterest.
Thanks
It has always been my dream to do something like this but I never knew enough about the steps A-Z, and above all didn't have the guts to do it.
This video removed 1 of the 2 obstructions.
Do it.

Stealing this beautiful articulation.
Something I learned from my mentor and teacher, Chris Do.
@@MatthewEncina I adopted Chris as my unofficial mentor... Keep it up and you're next haha!
Hey Matthew
Hope you're good! I'm Thomas Nyirenda, a graphics designer from Zambia. We’re going through some tough times here with the economy and drought, and we only get about 4 hours of electricity a day. I’ve been trying to keep up with my work, but upgrading my computer has been really hard since I can just about manage to support my family.
I wanted to ask, if you happen to have any old or unused computer parts lying around, they’d honestly be a huge help to me. I totally understand if it’s not something you can do, but I thought I’d give it a shot!
Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this. I really appreciate the content you share, keeps me motivated!
Cheers,
Thomas Nyirenda
Hey Thomas. I’m sorry to hear of your challenging times. I wish I could help everyone in need, but unfortunately there’s nothing I can do in this situation. Wishing you the best.
Congratulations Matthew! 🎉
I hope this was insightful. Thanks for the suggestions.
@@MatthewEncina no problem, let me know when you want more. 🤗☺️
My goodness that looks beautiful! Looks like it would pair perfectly with a MacBook!
Thanks!
