As someone with no design experience embarking on decorating my forever home, this video was presented in the most helpful way to illustrate good design principles. Thank you for your great video and truly useful information.
Love this. Please do more of these pragmatic teaching videos they are brilliant. This is a real niche for you and no one is doing this well on RUclips that I have found so far. Great work
This was one of the best breakdowns i have seen of why a room looks good, I learnt a lot of valuable lessons for my own house. Please keep this as a regular series, i will make sure to watch them all!
I love how you’re breaking down design theory and using Photoshop to compare and contrast. I’m not an interior designer, but as a designer myself, I really enjoy learning how process and theory apply to different design fields. Plus, it’s always fun to use that knowledge while furnishing my own place!
Love this teaching style! I know a ton of time went into this. As someone who watches bottomless design videos, this was one of the more helpful ones. I'm making a chair swap in my LR because of this. Thank you.
This is absolutely stunning. I love the concept of explaining "WHAT IF...?" - I have seen quite a bit of interior design content over internet and haven't seen anything like this before. I don't care if it is your original idea or not, just wanna say: you are doing it right, please do more!!1
As a person with an extensive art background, I applaud your approach to a You Tube video on interior design. If you're aiming at people just entering into interior design projects, you might even cut the concepts down to two or even one, and give more examples of each. All in all, though, good work!
I have been looking for Videos Like that for a Long time. Using Photoshop to illustrate the difference that specific changes make is great! Please, more videos like this!!!!
I have some design experience, have a small library on interior design, and watch far too many design videos, so it’s hard to find something where I can still learn a lot. (Sound so arrangeant 😂) I really appreciated this one, as it is neither too entry level, nor simply overwhelming viewers with many beautiful images without diving deep to explain the principles behind the images . Well done and would love to see more of this!
Great video, very insightful and all very true as well!! Since you asked about things you missed, you skipped to mention the rugs in both examples…I’d say they’re key elements to adding texture, color and coziness to a room and can really elevate any interior set-up.
That is such an interesting video. I have been looking at Interior design contents for years, and knew that I would love this kind of guided exploration. I ❤ it, especially when you replace or remove the fournitures to enhance each comment. I am French, I Hope this comment makes sense 😊
Excellent content, thank you for so much information that we go unnoticed, I am a fan of decoration and I found your channel, if you could show designs in small spaces that would be great, greetings from Mexico
This video was excellent! I do know that a lot of this furniture is designer / expensive. I would looooove a “budget friendly” video of some sort. I know Ikea sucks but how can we build a beautiful budget friendly home? Thank you for your work 🖤
I loved this video! Would love to see more like it. I would love to see more options. Like what would it look like with all bookcase instead of the art in the middle or with a different kind of side chair.
This video is soooo helpful-I don’t think I have seen anything teaching quite like this before. Really well done-thank you! (Also I so feel the cats fighting in the background - sigh)
Incredibly helpful! Keep up the good work 🙏 I would love to see a series where people submit their spaces and you give them suggestions on how to implement the design principles discussed in this video. I’ll be the first to volunteer! Hahaha 🙋🏽♀️
Glad to be recommended this video, you got a good format going on here. Youd think more int. design YTers would be doing something like this but its not the case.
I like the idea of using wall mount shelves instead of using display cabinet. But can I use that too to my small dining area? I want to use the space of my dining area for the coffee table and industrial shelves for some items like plates, cups and other personal decors. Can you please make a video for that if possible, so I can I have idea. Thanks.
I love this concept, I hope to see more of these series 🥰 not loving Example No 2 tbh, it’s a mush of cliche designer pieces and lacks the vertical balance of the first example. It also feels on the verge of being dated because this aesthetic have been here for a while on Tiktok. With age, I learned to appreciate some matchy matchy furniture, it gives balance and structure. Design is subjective after all 🌹
I agree the room is beautifully designed, but I keep wishing I could center the furniture! Is my OCD preventing me from having a modern and well designed living room?
I really wanted to love this video because you explained it so well. However, the volume for the photo changes and markers was too loud and distracting to continue watching. I am so sorry. It was louder than your voice, so I would missave something and h to keep rewinding to catch what you said.
Sorry about that, you’re not the only one who pointed that out. Somehow I didn’t think it was too loud, but I’ll definitively pay attention to that from now on!
The lounger with no back and the accent chair look uncomfortable. That leaves everyone wanting to sit on the sofa. Change those pieces, and it's a nice room.
What if I don't like that room? All those shelves with barely a book in sight says that the people who live here are not my sort of people. It's just open shelves full of decorative junk that someone's got to dust, but what do they get back from it? The weird chair doesn't look comfortable, but neither does the sofa because my elbows actually aren't at the same height as my head. Of course the weird chair isn't going to stay white long in any household with several children and at least a couple of dogs - even one black cat is going to make the chair not white pretty quick. And if that's a modern chaise longue, I'll stick with the style my late grandmother preferred. Somebody is going to trip over and break a tooth on that coffee table and we all know it. If I had to shut the curtains, I'd probably run my hand into the cactus on the windowsill.
This is great content. Please don’t do what RUclipsrs feel like they have to do on videos and cut to short videos of themselves trying to be funny midway through speaking, like you did when you thanked your 15 year old self. It’s not funny it just makes me not want to watch it and like I said… you have good content so don’t ruin it

I really like the way you use photoshop to show the impact of changes

Honestly I've watched so many design videos out there and there is a gap for these type of educational videos with clear examples so keep making them
A very cohesive presentation. Grazie
Loved this! Great insights
Great video! I really like how you demonstrate concepts showing a counterexample editing the picture
Excellent video, Maria! Love your format and empathetic teaching style. Very applicable ideas :)
Great presentation. Lots of designers use these words, balance flow ... But don't show what they're talking about. Loved this vlog.
I’m glad you found it helpful!

👀 I'll keep that idea in mind!
I liked the rounded furniture against the strict edges of the shelves and fireplace.
Glad to be recommended this video, you got a good format going on here. Youd think more int. design YTers would be doing something like this but its not the case.
Such a wonderful well explained video! You really should consider writing a course for Skillshare.
Great video, Maria! What country do you work from? Do you design apartments commercially and what are the prices? Thank you.
Hello! I’m based in Canada, but I’m not taking clients right now. Thanks for your interest, though 😊
nice video, please continue…❤
Amei o vídeo. Parabéns pelo seu trabalho. ❤❤
It's beautiful - but it doesn't look like a home - it looks like an exhibit.
Cada vez melhor! Parabéns.

Nagyon jó videó. Az első példa igazán tetszett. Esetleg még a szőnyegről ejthetsz pár szót. De gratulálok!
Thank you
loved the video and all the photoshopped images for examples!

What color is the wall in example 1
I just subscribed because I enjoy consuming everything home decor
I was a bit confused because it doesn’t look good 😅
What is this design style called?
just search for contemporary interiors with earthy tones, this will give you similar results. i don't know if it has a specific name yet though
@ thank you!
Where did you get your overhead lamp?
It’s from IKEA! But I’m afraid this lamp shade was a limited edition :( it’s called FOSSTA, if I’m not mistaken
Maravilhosa!!
I agree the room is beautifully designed, but I keep wishing I could center the furniture! Is my OCD preventing me from having a modern and well designed living room?
Hahaha not at all! It’s all about taste, you can still have a beautiful room with a more symmetrical layout!
Needs more color in that second example.
Nice video but soooooo many ads! Made it hard to follow.
Brasileira ou Portuguesa ? =P
Parabens pelo bom gosto e pela aula
Brasileira! Obrigada ☺️

great vid but the SFX kinda bothered my ears - maybe turn them down next time! 💜
Thanks for the feedback, I’ll keep that in mind for future videos :)

It doesn’t look that good. It looks exactly the same as the living rooms of late 1990s trust fund grad students in Chicago or Ithaca.
Not impressed with the second room. The first room was well done.
Loving this but those 'pop' sounds are awful and make me cringe.
Hahahah ok, noted!

I don't think this room looks good. Too confusing.
Looks very cluttered. NO THANKS.
annoying sound effects DISKLIKE. DONE
Yikes, those living rooms are not great. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion and design is very subjective.
It may be a useful video, but tattooed arms make me leaving.
Bye 👋🏻
