Disclosure: Massca and SawSet sent me their products to try. I liked them and find they are a good value for what you get, so I featured them in this video. I've had the SawSet since April 2021 and the Massca clamps since early in 2022.

I understand the need to do the videos about the tools but I for one would like to see you do more projects. I miss them.
Only problem is not enough people watch them
Lol, how many times is he gonna do this video…
I agree. I like these videos and I have purchased a few things from them. I wish he would do a few new builds videos. They are my favorite from him. I know they are not as popular but they really help people get started.
I can't watch tool videos any more. Some of them are neat but all tools all the time gets monotonous. I started watching because of the builds. 731 explained the builds really well and as a real person. It inspired me to start building.
Seriously, I subscribed to him from those videos but ever since it’s just “how to build your business” and “use these tools!” (Either sponsored or sent for free I assum). About to unsubscribe soon
Thanks. My preference for glue applicator bottles is yellow mustard bottles. They work really well and I have never had a problem with them. I have both a large and small glubots but I tired of having to clean the nozzles every time I went to use either of them. Now, they are empty and clean and sit on a shelf looking pretty.
Great tips thanks for sharing
High-end purpleheart straightedge board 😃
Been using the 3M paper for a year now. Best ever. I’ve also use condiment bottles for over 40 years. I can’t squeeze hard enough to use a gluebot. I use 4oz, 8oz and 16oz bottles with Titebond II and III.
I'm going to have to support that 🇨🇦 company and place an order!
You've got a great channel man. I watch all your videos.
I always watch ur channel brother and i learned a lot from it but i love the difrent shirts ur wearing more than the tools ur sharing. 😊
I just did my first pocket hole project because of your encouragement to it's use, went with Kreg system, got standard, HD, and now the micro and loving them. Made a frame for a tub sink I didn't need inside anymore to use outside by the garden hose as a mess sink. So much chunky sawdust/little curls! You were right!
Awesome!
Great information. I also love and appreciate you wearing your shirts as a witness for Christ. God bless!
That Massca clamp looks great. Thanks for the product reviews, it's important work you're doing that is enabled by your success. I can only imagine the whirlwind it's been for you guys with the heightened profile.
Oh yeah, I just reused the old TiteBond-1 small bottle that I have.? I thankfully haven't had to glue anything upsidedown yet.
I love that SawSet Pro. I have one of those Pittsburgh angle thingy's from Harbor Freight. I've used it to figure out angles but the scale is so small it's hard to read so it's hard to be very precise. The SawSet Pro is the perfect size for these tired old eyes.
Nice bit of purple heart there :)
I’ve been using the 3M extract for two years now will never change
I've watched several of your videos. I think you are on of best presenters on you tube. Clear, concise information, you are friendly, competent and articulate. Thank you.
Yeah I loved the sandpaper. I personally use the extract as well, but it does not like corners! I usually save edges for last and hit it with some cheap sand paper.
Regular glue bottles, "Am I a joke to you?"
I've been back in the woodworking hobby for almost a year now and I can see there are '2 camps,' the 'T-track' and the 'dog-hole', when it comes to having 'multiple-mechanical-hands'(clamps) to hold down your work.
This is brought me to the conclusion that I can very easily spend $50,000 in the shop and never build a single thing, IF I allowed myself to buy every little trinket that I like, but don't need. That's my problem, not a problem with the channel.
That being said, I think I'm 'T-Track' because of it's versatility, and it keeps sawdust out better.
If you have a 'dog-hole' bench, you may as well not have any drawers in it, or you have give up some real estate directly under the work surface.
well, the glubot is plastic too so what's the disadvantage. I think you're going to lose the loose cap a lot easier than the Glubot that has one attached.
I like those clamps
They are very nice for the price!
Also I think that point on the t-track clamp would be called a fulcrum if I'm not mistaken.
Correct!
Awesome shirt
That is the best sandpaper that I’ve ever used. Got some this past Christmas from Taytools. And now when I catch them running a sale it’s definitely my go to.
Glue bottle is a winner!!!! No more leaking glue all over the table. Shirt rocks!!!!! 👊
I saw so many people with the Glue bot, so i went out and grabbed one. I hate that thing lol. 99 cent bottle from Walmart works wayyyyy better
I've been using condiments bottles for glue for a while, Walmart has them for a buck apiece.
My sander's hooks are so strong, the loops on the sandpaper wear out and I have to throw them away long before the sandy side is used up. It's just a dewalt ROS. I don't get it.
just recently started using the 3M xtract sanding discs, very impressed.
Man, that purpleheart wood looks GORGEOUS!
Between you and Matthew Peech, my wallet is huddled over in the corner crying! I've been debating trying that sandpaper for a while so might have to pick up a box next time I need some.
I bought some of the Cubitron discs a few weeks ago based on several reviews. They are really good, sand smooth, last a LONG time and don't clog up. When you're ready to purchase, check the prices on the Taylor Tool site.
Hola! 🖐 The F-Style clamps were my favorite, that is a great design to resolve some of the limitations the typical style have. Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊
The 3M discs with the Festool ROS is great. The 3M discs seem to last forever for me and with the dust extractor hooked up it seems as thought there is 0 dust that escapes as well. Glue hack is great as well.
Love your shirt!
Where can one find accurate paper rulers that could be cemented to workbenches, jigs, auxiliary fences and the like that has both Imperial and Metric markings on it, at least 1 yard or 1 meter long? I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I do need a small supply of them.
I buy my ketchup and mustard bottles from the grocery store... with ketchup and mustard in them. When they are emply they come out to the shop to be re used and glue bottles. They aren`t 32 ounce bottles but they are plenty large and basically free once you`ve consumed the condiments that were inside. At 40 bucks Canadian for the amazon ones, it seems like a no brainer to me.
@EcoWorms Montreal I think they still do, no?
You wouldn't lose the cap of the glue bot if u put it where it actually goes. The tab on the top of the lid
Someone is Sanding all day most everyday in the boat shop and we recently tried switching to xtract from the mirka paper. After about a month of trying every grit of xtract, the mirka papers by far beat the xtract in every single application and grit.
That's very interesting! I've never used Mirka paper. May have to give it a try
Unneeda seems like a good quality. I actually just found out about that company just the other day I've been meaning to place an order so I can try out their sandpaper and sanding tools and things that nature. That's one of the main reasons why I'm so excited about Milwaukee's new M12 detail Center they got coming out.
#3 is a saddle and trunnion. Very nice design.
I've been picking up the Diablo sand-net style 5in mesh pads, HD keeps putting them up at a crazy low price. I really need to get some of those gear clamps now!
I love the shirt “ crown of thorns” stay blessed brother,
I had a GluBot that lasted one refill. The yellow lid managed to get itself glued to the bottle, and no amount of soaking in warm water could free it up. It was a complete waste of money imho, but cheap sauce bottles really are great 👍
Like the 3m cubitron over the extract! The extract i keep getting the hook and loop serperating from the actual grit as there just isnt enough surface i guess to adhere to.
Damn these are good.
To prevent damaging the piece with the masca hold down dip it in that yellow stuff that you showed a few months ago.
I switched to the Xtract Sandpaper now for a little over a month now..
I think it works so much better on my sander.
I think you will find this out also....
Wouldn't it be better to set the mitre saw directly from the t-bevel? Doing so would eliminate inaccuracies reading the angle and transferring it to the saw. It would also bypass any errors in the saw's protractor and fence alignment.
Hey Bob, For double miters, the T Bevel alone is not capable for setting the miter saw. And you are right, T bevel directly to the saw for a single bevel is an option.
I own a Sawset Pro. No rounding up or down. Work with the fraction of a degree for a perfect fit.
in addition to the tool mans point, it aint that easy. if the bevel is not perfectly parallel to the bed, your off, if the blade of the bevel hits one of teh carbide teeth, your off. if you press the bevel too hard into the fence, it moves and youre off. imo, setting the miter saw with a t-bevel is the worst. ill transfer the t bevel to scrap paper and measure it with a protractor before i try to use it on a saw.
I absolutely love the Jorgensen ratcheting gear clamps that they sell at Lowe's speaking of which I need to go see if they make any size other than these 8 inch and whatever other size I have actually I think 8 inch and 6 in. These things are amazing they have such a strong grip on anything it's a little finicky to get set quickly at first but you quickly learn how to use it it's very intuitive. They're about 15 $20 a piece I believe but as far as clamping strength goes and being quick about it man they just they are nice I'd rather use one of those than one of the super heavy duty quick grips
you should get the Festool protector pad for net abrasives to put between your regular pad and the xtract or you will ruin the hook and loop on your sanders
Yup. Very correct. I destroyed my sanding pad really quick. It melts the hook and loop. Also the net doesnt stick to the regular sanding pad worth a poop.
Wh-wai-WAIT HOLD ON. Sanding.. ERASER????
/runs out to wherever the hell those are sold
Bro I don't believe you've never heard of condiment containers being used for glue bottles. About 5 years ago I worked in a furniture shop and that is all they used everywhere. They're cheap and they will clog given enough use but they are throw aways that are cheaply replaced. There also good for mineral oil, paint thinner, and a whole lot more.
I watched an in depth video review on this paper vs a few others and it didn't hold up well. It actually started flaking parts of the paper. In the end, it did not sand as fast either. The one paper you should review in the 3M Cubitron. That stuff is amazing.
This is Cubitron (says it on the lower right of the box)
@@731Woodworks I think they make a few different types of cubitron papers. It’s not the one I used and was so impressed with. The one I used is the Cubitron 2 part number 87430. Amazing stuff.
Legit question if you dont mind mate. Why use a gluebot or a wide condiment bottle if you have a bottle the glue comes in anyway? Is there any advantage at all or just preference?
Thanks in advance from a newbie woodworker in Sydney, Australia
Shops that do as much work as he does buys glue in bulk and a 1-gallon jug is not good for dispensing, so a smaller dispenser is necessary.
Just an FYI on the sandpaper and festool sander. The interface on the festool ETS 125 is not designed to use with net. It will stop sticking within a few months to the paper. By the $14 net that festool sells to use with Net Sandpaper and save yourself some headaches and frustrations.
I just purchased some of that 3m sandpaper the other day puchased the set of ever grit, but with 5 of each.
I love your shirt!!!
Man these video are AWESOME! Now give me 20%!!! Dude that glue bot drives me nuts! Love the condiments tip! Keep doing what you do buddy
Diablo makes something similar and I love them!
i use those catsup bottles for glue too. quite a bit off topic, but one of the best uses for them is pancakes. i put the dry mix in, add water, shake to mix, and then use the bottle to squirt the batter right into the pan.
Good tip! I love me some pancakes!
I find the mesh sanding discs (both 3m and Diablo) generally don’t do well with any kind of rough corners but excel at flat surfaces. I use them for any flat boards, but will switch to some regular Diablo paper for rough pieces so I don’t run through the mesh ones. They last a lot longer on flat areas though and the dust collection seems better in my experience as well.
I have the glubot and have found if you are done gluing a project or part of a project, if you wipe down the tip it doesn't tend to clog. have had mine for a few years ad haven't had any issues
Need to use a pad saver when use the 3M mesh! You will eat up that hook and loop! I’d add the pad saver in the next “tools you need”. Would be awesome if this idea made it to the big screen haha!
I can watch his videos all day long. But I do have to pray some of the day as well.
I wondered about the DuraDisc carbide sanding disc since StumpyNubs recommended them. Expensive but intriguing for the longevity.
I love these videos. But it's starting to add up. We must be over 500 bucks at this time with all these great suggestions. Lol. I know. I know. I can by these one at a time. But who has the patience? Keep them coming Mat.
I watch a lot of "must have" tool videos, but this is the first where all five of the recommendations were this good - great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for all of the tool recondition videos, but is it possible for some more project videos or interview videos?
Yes. Project video coming out Sunday!
3M is the best sandpaper you can get! glad you made it to the dark side
I've been waiting on the availability of the 3M Xtract to increase. Right now it seems the only way for me to get it is order it from Amazon or something like that. None of the big box or specialty stores around here carry it. I'm hoping it'll end up on shelves like Lowes but we'll see. I still have a bunch of the Festool discs to use up.
TayTools has it as well
The glue bottle thing makes no sense. You can lose the cap on either the gluebot or the empty bottle. At least with the gluebot you can get a replacement cap if you somehow manage to rip it apart and lose it. Don't diss a product that you broke. Also, why not just use the factory bottle you have on the bench in the background with a closable lid.....
Would the sandpaper work as well without using dust extraction?
Love the design on the Massca hold down, shown side by side with the "blue one" (I have those, I like them, but they do have their limitations due to design). The Sawset looks intriguing as well. Which brings me to my two cents worth on what seems to have some guys bunched up: Your content. For me, I look to your channel, and James Hamilton over at StumpyNubs, and a few others to show me some of these less expensive gadgets that might make my life easier and the work flow easier. I'm a pro. I do this stuff for a living as a trim carpenter/maker/fixer/woodworker. I don't have time to search the internet for the "gadgets" and, regrettably, shelf space being at a premium at the "blue store" and others I won't see these gadgets because they don't carry them. When I add a tool to my arsenal, it has to be something that will pay for itself, won't take up valuable space, with a shallow learning curve. Your content helps me with that decision making process. Reason being, (no offense intended) you're "just a guy" who decided to pick up woodworking and I've watched you grow in your ability, and tool acquisition. I also trust your word when you say how well something did, or did not, work for you. Pay your bills, man, with whatever content makes sense. There are plenty of build heavy channels out there. Besides, in all the time I've been doing what I do, I learn by doing, not by watching someone else do.
I really appreciate that! I am glad these videos are helpful and I take being "just a guy" as a compliment. I'm just a guy in a garage that likes tools and woodworking and sharing that with others.
Love the 1-5 vertical scale on the right side. Thanks for doing all your videos. I’m a subscriber and I recommend your videos.
Awesome, thank you!
Thanks
NOOICE!!! 😎
Love that shirt brother.
I watch all of your tool list videos and this one is the best yet ... I found myself going to all 5 links to get the goods. Like "Charles" below, you are really giving my wallet wallet the shakes ... $30 at a time!!
God bless to you and your family ... Cheers!!
Glad you like them!
That Allred Woodworks guy is a smart feller 🙂
I've heard him say that a time or two. Wait, seems like you switched around some letters
Howdy Mr. 731...
It's been awhile. I've been wayyy busy. Finally finished Pops' table. Been working on my shop. Lost my wallet and everything in it (obviously), had to kill all cards. Was and is a big mess.
To all the others talking about Mr. 731 not doing any build videos...
If I'm not mistaken, he has said in multiple videos and through his LIVE show on Tuesdays that his "goal" of his channel was to be a "Content" provider, not a "Build" channel as he doesn't have much time these days to be out in the shop building a table etc.
Now, I can honestly say, I miss the build videos as well, but this is the direction he chose to go, so let's all respect his decision.
His content videos have value in that he does the leg work for you. I've myself have saved HUNDREDS of dollars from his Content videos in that he's found deals on tools I needed and saved me the hassle of searching myself, which is kinda the point.
Thank you Mike!
Love the GearKlamps - great improvement over the traditional F-style. And pretty much everything from Massca is awesome but I hadn’t noticed those T-track clamps before. I have to say though, I’m surprised you haven’t migrated to the Matchfit system. For me, it was an “Ah-ha” moment. Love it!
I have a cross cut sled and jointing sled with the match fit system. Also a portable workbench with match fit. Love em!
@@731Woodworks Ah, yes. Duh, forgot about those. 👍
Awesome Matt. Another very cool set of tools. These videos are awesome, keep up the great work my friend.. Also I haven't had the chance to try out the 3M Extract sandpaper. But it's on my list the next time I order sandpaper.. anyhow take care, and God Bless!
I freakin need that sawset tool
Did you say "mouses" ?? Lol
With the tools you *need* count going over 40 by now? It’s coming across rather gate-keepey.
I'd add that shirt to the list!
Where are the links to the products?
Hi Lisa, Click on the top where it says "more".
LOve & learn from this YT channel. Thank you. I'm sure I'm not the first, but 731 is an unfortunate number for us who are WW2 history buffs. Japan Unit 731. You say you didn't make the channel for nerdy WW2 buffs? I understand.
I want to pickup the organizer you showed, but it's $50! 😱 lol
The 3M Xtrac is similar to the sandnet.
Glue bot is best. Don't lose the cap. Problem solved.
@731 Woodworks And if you're prone to forgetting to put the lid back on, hang a hair pin on the strap and use it dig out dried bits of glue.
Question for Special Forces tribute flag: Great video brother, since there seem to be many craftsman in the comments and I really like the thin blue line and American flag in the background,, of one of your older videos i came across,, my best friend died a little over a year ago..after he was kicked outta the ODA for a drug problem he developed. Then he unfortunately overdosed. He was the finest Green Beret I've ever known. And dealing with the Cartels and the Taliban require levels of violence and the loss of brothers which thank goodness most people will never know the hurt and mental health problems that come with direct action missions. I was wondering where I could find someone to do a wooden custom tribute flag, with the Green Beret insignia, 7th Special Forces Group and ODA # his name etc, to put up on my wall, he should never be forgotten and tbh if it doesn't have anything to do with the military then I have no real clue. If you want something destroyed then I'm your man, if it's about making something decent I'm at a loss. Can anyone in the comments reply and give me an idea. He was my best friend and my brother, I wanna make sure my grand kids know who he was and what he gave for this country. Thanks to anyone for any ideas.
I love your t shirts. Are you a believer?
Thanks. Yes I am
Where do you get the 3m disc's so cheap?
is there a tool for finding center no matter how wide your board is?
Where do you get your T-shirts? I need those!
That one came from castingcrownsonline.com/products/only-jesus-navy-tee
Mardels has the t-shirt and many others.
Sawset Pro: Use your T-bevel to find the angle. Read the angle on this fancy protractor. Set your saw to the angle. OR...
Use your T-bevel to find the angle. Set your saw to match the angle on the T-bevel. Skip a step and a tool. Works great. Who cares what the actual angle is... (If you do, read it off your miter saw bevel gauge.
Hi Brett. Can a T Bevel alone find a double miter saw setting?
Bro, you are awesome, but you need to start doing some build vidios.
Thank you. I love making projects and doing build videos. I still do a couple of those per month. They do however take significantly more time to produce. For instance, my miter station build video that released about two weeks ago. It took me about 4 days to build that project, while also filming it at the same time. Then it took me nearly 40 hours to edit the video. So essentially about two weeks worth of work for 1 video. If that video drew a million views, I could have continued to do that, at that pace. Unfortunately build/project videos are some of the least viewed videos on my channel compared to the others. I also enjoy tools and finding new and unique ones. 99% of the tools I review in these videos, I find and purchase. Very few are given to me or sponsored by companies. I hope that gives you some insight into why I make the type of content I do. This is my full-time job so I have to make videos that the majority watches. I still make the build videos because I love building but only at about 2 per month.
Someone please direct me to the "Description Below" so that I can see the links to the tools which are shown in the video. I have looked everywhere...
If you are on a computer, click "SHOW MORE" under the video on the left side. If you are on your mobile device, there is a tiny down arrow on the right side, just below the video. Click that and will open up the description. Then you'll need to click "...more" to open it all the way.
@@731Woodworks Thank you so much. I will give that a try !
Hey Doug, Click on the More.
I switched over to the 3M Cubitron pads a little over 9 months ago . . . if you do any kind of woodworking *BUY* these 3M pads! You will not regret it.
Nice but the starret is way faster and easier...try it out if you haven't already..starret miter protractor.
Hi Jeremy,
I own 4 Starretts and your right, its easier and 30 seconds faster. BUT, you loose accuracy. The Starrett has combined 2 degrees in one increment for the single miter setting. Try finding a fraction of a degree. Sawset Pro is better for the detailed woodworker. My opinion.
I have been using mustard containers for 30 or more years.
