Mitsubishi should really take notes on how capable the mirage can be. They could bring a street legal, Evo version of this car in addition to their regular 3 cyl. powertrain. Mitsubishi is really sleeping on their heritage, i know a street version wouldn't be nearly as potent as this rally mirage, but it would definitely be a great tuner car for a blooming segment. Thank you guys for putting this car out of it's 3 cylinder suffering, its finally able to play and show how capable it really is 🙏 maybe you'll help Mitsubishi grow some nards and create something fun with this platform.

Mitsubishi DGAF. We were lucky to ever get an EVO at all. Go watch the Donut episode called "Mitsubishi doesn't care what you think"

Am I the only one that needs to know more about that series land rover on big muddies in the background? Team O'Neil needs a spotlight on that vehicle!

Would you spend a whole season of your rally budget on testing?

Yes, to get better and your still learning so it isn’t really a waste of money.

I would absolutely spend $0 on testing 😢

It's honestly just foolish to not think about using a driver like higgy as a tuning experience and get the car lined out as quickly as possible and necessary frankly for a top rated platform for a winning car and hopefully a good place for you to actually start from there and not really have to start from scratch on the entire platform. Honestly it's just foolishness that you wouldn't use a incredible value for your money to use a driver as seasoned as David who understands the individual parts and pieces and is not just a driver that doesn't understand what the car might need for a adjustments and even a few more parts for a chassis to work as a balanced machine and have some extra feedback for your driving style and how to increase your speed and save energy on a specific method. You don't get to the level of what he has shown at the Ile of man and the speeds that is being kept over time to not complete have a good grasp on what is needed for a very well suited car with all the different parts and systems working together. I'm not saying that he's doing this all by himself but he is the one who is putting his life experience into the feedback to help the specialists to make the changes necessary to get the most performance possible from the vehicle.

If you have the luxury of time and endless money, why not? But considering you're asking the general 99.9% of the population, the obvious answer is heck no.

I was just watching this and thinking: that weekend probably cost more than my typical annual rally budget. Totally worth it if you've got it, but not everybody does unfortunately.

To have the resources and budget to do this......but drive a FWD car. Preposterous! FWD LOL.

FWD very much has its place in rally and can be incredibly fast.

You don't know much then do you? Front wheel drive cars easily outumber 4wd in rally due to costs and practicality. They have better traction off road than rear wheel drive and are generally seen as the better option unless you have a massive budget and can afford to run a 4wd car with all the maintenance costs. They are mechanically simpler and easier to work on usually. Look at the history of rally racing over the last 30 years. In the 99 season the Citroen (front drive) Xsara was the fastest car.

@@tomchamberlain4329There's also instances like in 1994 (iirc) where at one of the euro rallies Alister McRae beat nearly the whole field of 4WD Group A cars with his FWD Formula 2 Nissan Sunny. Anyone out here arguing that FWD can't rally hasn't watched enough rally.
