The best thing is, losing is just as awesome as winning.. but winning is a buzz! Thanks for watching, and supporting the show. Glad to help a fellow gamer! Come join as on facebook at BoxofDelightsGames and say hi !
Alright, awesome, thanks a lot for taking the time to answer, I really appreciate it, you sir just won a new subscriber ! Also I tried the solo conquest for the first time yesterday... I had the misfortune to get the blue city as my first city and got completely crushed by the defenders, the game is definitely challenging ill try again tonight !
I have to say thanks. I would not be playing this game if it were not for your video series. After watching them and playing a few times myself, it clicks. I am now ready to introduce others to the game. Fantastic. Great game, just a bit confusing to get hold of at first.
Oh I know, i was just asking to see if I understand the rules correctly. I got the game last week and i'm still trying to figure out everything, your vids are really helping me do that btw, thanks again !
Just 4. A fire attack causes just blocking to be "inefficient". You can mix all types of attacks, yes. And yes, types of attack are NOT lost from range or siege attacks.
I'm interested to see where this game goes. I tried a solo conquest last night and wound up getting my rear handed to me when attacking the first city. I just didn't prepare enough, I think, before pushing that far into the map. I really needed more units and attack cards!
This is probably well after you've found the answer to your question, but just in case... You can move and either interact with a settlement or engage in combat. You can combine as many of the other actions as possible in a single turn.
when using mana draw are you allowed to select the black mana die as the die that is set to any basic color. Black mana is considered depleted during the day, and the rules state "no one can use it and it is not rerolled." I think the card effect overrules that, what do you think?
I've really been enjoying your series. I'm two solo plays in (won the intro and ran out of time after defeating the 1st city in this scenario) and am pretty smitten with this game. I think I would have been some what frustrated without starting with your intro one first.
Interesting. It looks like I've been cheating myself out of a turn every round. At 3:25, the dummy player has one card left. As he could not draw his full three (plus crystal extras), I thought that meant you declared end of round immediately, and took one additional turn only. Here, it appears that end of round is not declared if there are any cards at all remaining in the dummy Deed deck at the start of the Dummy player's turn. No wonder this game was hard. Am I understanding this correctly now?
+noteclado I think I found the answer: RuleeBook page 10: "You can play effects that provide Healing points (Heal X)" then: "Use one Healing point to throw away a Wound card from hand (return the Wound card to the Wound's pile)" I love your videos! Greetings from Chile! (sorry for the english)
yeah that's what I thought, the only part I can't fully get a grasp on, rule-wise, so far is the combat, id have one last question if you don't mind :) If you are attacked by a fire attack 4 enemy, you have to produce physical block 8, but if you don't block it you have how many damage points do deal with ? 4 or 8 ? and in your attack phase you can mix ranged, sieged and melee attacks right ? does ranged and sieged attack keep their elemental properties in that case ?
You didn't have to forfeit your turn that time you did. Since you had one wound in hand you can discard that card as a "slow recovery" healing action. Then at the end of your turn you could of used the glades effect to throw away the wound you just put into the discard pile earlier.
Whoops. I was doing this wrong. I see that in the Walk Through manual on page 7 it states that you clear these. Darn. I rather liked holding on to those.
Ah, OK. Well, the monks only have an armour of 4, so they won't soak up all 4 "wounds" - they would take ONE wound and reduce the enemy "attack" by 4, but then any remaining attack would be dealt to me.. does that make sense ?
5:00 SO at the End of Round you can discard cards you don't want from your hand? You discarded Determination without using it. Your videos and replies have REALLY helped me to be able to understand and play the game a lot better. Thank you. So you discarded Determination but if you had kept it then you could have taken another turn and used the Glade again to heal the last wound before the day ended? Why did you discard the card? 7:40 YOU SHUFFLE YOUR WOUNDS BACK INTO THE DEED DECK AT THE END OF ROUND?!! DUDE THATS HUGE!! I didnt know that and that really REALLY helps now. WOW
On your turn you play the card mana draw and after that you play the healing card, aren't that 2 actions? Aren't you supposed to take one move and/ ore 1 action?
In regards to the Mana Draw card. You gained two green mana tokens, used one and then discarded both to the draw pile. Shouldn't you have kept the second unused green mana token until the end of the round as opposed to the end of the turn?
First healing turn, you could have "rested" and still used the heal 2 card. (and then discarded 1 wound and the block card leaving 1 wound in hand and 1 in discard pile. Magical glaide would have healed the discarded wound and the final one from hand) Maybe.. :P
do you think it would've been a better option to wound your monks instead of taking 4 wounds ? you could've got rid of the wound on 'em with your powered up tranquility card and saved a couple of cards ? Anyway great videos man, keep it up !
For the beginning of a new round, do you have to shuffle every deed card even the ones in your hang back into the deed deck to start the new round? Or do you keep your hand?
At the end of the turn right before this video begins do you not need to discard down to your hand total (5)? With wounds your hand total is 7 meaning that 2 non wound cards need to be discarded. Or do wound cards not count toward your hand limit? Also, thank you for the fantastic videos they are most helpful.
You never discard down to your hand limit, you just don't get to draw any more. And yes, wounds do count towards your hand size. Rulebook, page 9, section 7c.
+Marco Curvello I didn't declare end of round at 5:01. I indicated my intention to declare next time - hence emptying my hand. Dummy went next and declared anyway, and I finished with no cards in hand. It's just my way of speeding things up a bit .. which is always helpful in Mage Knight!
+Ricky Royal I see. My bad then! And you're absolutely right with speeding things up when you can in Mage Knight. Btw, this game has so many rules but I love it so much that I already watched this series of videos at least 3 times, mostly before I have to teach it to other ppl or when it's been a while since I last played it. And I absolutely love how precise you are about the rules and don't make mistakes (which are quite easy to make in this game to be honest). Except maybe for the forced withdrawal mistake when you assaulted the green(?) city =P
I dont nrmally like wounding my units... must be sentimental! But, yes, there are different strateges to be had, otherwise the game would be playing itself . Find your style, play your game, and above all, have fun!!
I don't know if someone else has pointed this out allready, but the reason you drew the wound card first is because a riffle shuffle alone isn't a good shuffle. If a right handed person cuts the deck with the top half in their right hand and then rifles them the top card will remain the top card, and in either case will certainly remain near the top of the deck. Your best bet is to add it to the discard before doing a propper shuffle, not after. In any case, enjoying the videos :) will try to get this game soon
+Ed Skev yes, this is common knowledge . I use a combination of riffle and overhand . In my videos you'll see I edit out the full shuffle .. The wound being on top was just luck. It's good advice to anyone playing deck builders to ensure they shuffle properly. We always use a wash shuffle with small decks.
The best thing is, losing is just as awesome as winning.. but winning is a buzz! Thanks for watching, and supporting the show. Glad to help a fellow gamer! Come join as on facebook at BoxofDelightsGames and say hi !
Not only does this refresh my rule memory of the game, it's also enjoyable to watch
Thanks for the amazing second series! Your playthroughs have made me bump this game up to #1 on my wishlist. Liked and subbed.

Finished our first 2 player full conquest yesterday... man, what a ride ! I am curious how this game will fold out. Keep up the excellent work Rick !

Hi.. I do shuffle... just I edit it out for the most part... unless folks like to see me shuffling.. but I tend to do it for like ages..!!
your ability to roll gold mana during the day is quite amazing :-)
+Benjamin Hester and during the night too !

You got it ;) hope this helps!
Benjamin Hester I have been doing the same. This should help a lot now!
At 2:23 Discarded Wound cards with Healing should go to discard pile? Not to Wound's deck.
Sorry for the english.
+noteclado I think I found the answer: RuleeBook page 10: "You can play effects that provide Healing points (Heal X)" then: "Use one Healing point to throw away a Wound card from hand (return the Wound card to the Wound's pile)"

I think your answer contradicts your initial comment. Healing - wound goes back to the wound's pile.

yes, your hand and deck are reshuffled at the end of round; you can’t use glades without having an active turn.
On your turn you play the card mana draw and after that you play the healing card, aren't that 2 actions? Aren't you supposed to take one move and/ ore 1 action?

prome666 maybe :) That's a way to recognise a a good design, when there is not a single and obvious optimal move.
do you think it would've been a better option to wound your monks instead of taking 4 wounds ? you could've got rid of the wound on 'em with your powered up tranquility card and saved a couple of cards ? Anyway great videos man, keep it up !
For the beginning of a new round, do you have to shuffle every deed card even the ones in your hang back into the deed deck to start the new round? Or do you keep your hand?
+Jean Vang you do not get to keep your hand. You must discard all your cards and reshuffle.
Thanks Ricky!

Will do !
I dont nrmally like wounding my units... must be sentimental! But, yes, there are different strateges to be had, otherwise the game would be playing itself . Find your style, play your game, and above all, have fun!!
Why don't you take the reward from the dungeon after defeating the enemy, before levelling up?
Did I say thank you ? Not sure ! So, thank you !!
Hello quick question
I don't know if someone else has pointed this out allready, but the reason you drew the wound card first is because a riffle shuffle alone isn't a good shuffle. +Ricky Royal ok, I though you probably knew but was just making sure because of how it looked in the video :)
+Ed Skev cheers Ed!
