The more i watch the more i can tell how potentially fantastic this game could be, if only I can get my head round it. Stumbled my way through first reconnaissance more by luck than skill... Looking forward to trying this one, thanks for the inspiration!
@@BoxofDelights I really did! Your videos gave me enough confidence to try myself, and I found a solo scenario book on BGG I'm excited to play my way through. Thanks a million!
Hi jonathogm, yes, I did use 2 mana dice from the Souce on the first turn. Pretty cool huh?! The Mana Draw card allows you to do this... time it right and it can be very handy! Hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Thanks for watching, Rick
I did it!! I finally beat the Solo Conquest cities level 5 and 8!! I finished in round 5!!! The secret is in how you use your units and what units you have. Such a good game. It only took me 3 months to learn the rules LOL
That's a nasty bunch defending that city, you're definitely going to need some units and/or spells to handle them. I would explore another tile or maybe sack that keep. Good luck!
I think on the _even_ levels you get a skill and an advanced action. On the _odd_ levels you just get another command token. That's why the icons are different on each row.
Oh, wow, I guess I blanked out there. Anyway, I just got through my first play of this game, and it is really an awesome game, but wow, if there isn't a lot to wrap your head around.
At about 7:20 when you powered up the fireball with the red mana from the source should you have taken a wound? If so, it goes nto your hand, correct? (ie - not on the discard pile and not on the top of your deck.)
On 3:20, the dummy player should instantly declare the end of round because it needs to draw 3 but the deck only have one. That means that the dummy player needs to draw but the deck is empty, end of round should be declared. You just have one turn left, not two.
Hi, this is not correct I'm afraid. Rulebook page 12 is what you are after: "Note: If there are not enough cards in his Deed deck, draw as many as you can. On his next turn, the Dummy player announces End of the Round." Hope this helps ! Best wishes, Rick
Because RANGED attack comes first, then they attack/we block, and then melee attack follows, so if you can defeat them in ranged attack before they attack then you do not need to block them. Cool huh ?!
Wow, your rep. has gotten pretty high? Have you been planning on that the whole game so you can buy lvl III and IV units? Or will you walk the path of the conqueror and start burning down a monastery or 2? : D
you've missed an action from the orc adjacent to the castle. It had a swift symbol on it so you should have had to block for 6 before you could attack. Sorry, I'm a newbie at this game so I guess your teaching video has sunk that bit in at least
Good question: the Ranged Attack phase comes BEFORE Blocking, so as it goes, because I took them out in Ranged Combat I did not have to suffer their attack so did not need to block them as they were already defeated. So, the attack sequence is: Ranged Attack, BLOCK, then Melee Attack. Hope this helps! R.R
@@BoxofDelights yes, I see the orc wasn't fortified so ranged attack would still work. If it was fortified you could only use siege? If siege wasn't available you would have to block for double his attack value. is that correct? IF it was fortified that would be dropped and then you could use ranged or melee?

Every time in this series when I think I’ve caught a rule mistake…I’m wrong.
Such a great playthrough.

yay! congratulations ! Feels good ? :)
this playthrough is fantastic. thanks so much for your effort!

Did he spend 2 mana dice from the source on his first turn here? Or did I miss something?
thanks for the video Rick!
Oh I get it. The mana was to cast it at all. You did not use the strong effect. (And could not even if you wanted to because it is not night.)
You are right, I forgot you already took an action, so no movement there.
Too bad the dummy player advanced quite fast this round.
I think you could have used the 2 remaining cards to generate 2 movement points and go back towards the village in the plains. Is this correct?

Ricky Royal Great! Thanks for the info.
How do you keep track of which Spell you bought?
7:00 Why didn’t you have to block the Orc’s 3 attack to you before you attacked?
Because RANGED attack comes first, then they attack/we block, and then melee attack follows, so if you can defeat them in ranged attack before they attack then you do not need to block them. Cool huh ?!
@@BoxofDelights Yeah, that is cool! Thank you for your quick reply.

I notice that you are not really shuffling? Is there a reason or is that a video edit? Just curious. ✌️
I am shuffling.. I just cross-desolve in edit so you don't have to watch me shuffle for ages!

Right; though remember, you don't HAVE to block; you can take the wounds instead, and still ATTACK for Melee damage.
Did you forget to get a new skill?
