    Thanks for the review. Helped me decide on whether to buy this pen.
    I guess the next bit is a bit pedantic but here's the translation of TWSBI.
    TWSBI's name stands for the phrase "Hall of Three Cultures" or "San Wen Tong" in Chinese. The character "Wen" translates into language and culture. The phrase "San Wen Tong" also brings to mind the Hall of the Three Rare Treasures created by Emperor Qianlong as a memorial to three great masterpieces of Chinese calligraphy. The initials of the phrase "San Wen Tong" was reversed and thus turned into "TWS". The last letters "Bi" was added with its literal meaning of "writing instruments". Thus combining the two segments, creating TWSBI.

    The TWISBI Go is in my opinion a great winner. A work horse that is reasonably tough, easy to disassemble, easy to clean and great to write with. Regards. Great review.

    Your macro photos are incredible. That hair and Jurassic Park reference is killing me though!!! 🤣
    Haven’t gotten my Go in the mail yet, but I’ve been excited for it. I love TWSBI medium and broad nibs soooo much. I have no doubt I’d have gotten my first fountain pen a few months earlier if this little guy had been on the market at the time!

  • @greyareaRK1

    It seems like a good pen for frequent colour changes and quick cleaning perhaps. Might be good in an ink fight or to escape predators underwater (depending on if the push rod forces ink out). Visually I'm not digging the giant spring though, or the milky plastic cap. It gives it an uncomfortably industrial look. I'd prefer a non-transparent bottom and cap.

  • @bhoola123
    @bhoola123 5 лет назад +1

    A year out, my TWSBI GO has one small crack (2-3 mm) in the cap where the colored finial fits into the cap, above the “roll stop.” There is another small crack, 3-4 mm, where the cap liner is touching the outer cap. Mine has a stub nib, and I have never found a good pen/ink combination. My friend has a medium nib, and has no flow issues.

  • @BlueMel_MH

    I love demonstrators, so I bought this because you can see the spring and it's blue... also for the cool filling mechanism. I agree a perfect knock-about pen and good starter.

  • @neemancallender9092
    @neemancallender9092 5 лет назад +2

    The nib and feed are standard Twsbi so works well
    The fill system is fool proof and is very good as you can fill very easy
    But the spring sticks sometimes
    Unfortunately
    After the grip the girth of the pen is very thick wide
    so the pen is not comfortable to hold
    I was quite surprised
    In fact it took me time to figure out why it was uncomfortable
    So I went back to the Eco, Mini and Classic

    Interesting about the hair in the plastic. It's not something I've ever even thought about, but I suppose it's like getting food in a restaurant. Sometimes it just happens.

    David, thanks for the review and especially the size comparison, for some reason I had thought the pen would be smaller in length, but the size comparison dispelled that.
    Certainly a pen I would consider as a gift for people wanting to get into FP's, also the design is different and I agree with you kind of cool.

  • @jeffellis662

    Good review. I picked up the blue with the 1.1 stub and it’s a smooth writer. I like the feel of the section better then the Eco which I felt like you did bother my fingers, for some reason this one does not bother me. I wonder if the hole is to vent the body so that heat from the hand using the pen would not heat up the ink chamber. I have found this pen does not seem to be effected by heat as much as other models. In my mind it’s a great knock around pen and I am thinking of adding a M or B in smoke to go with my 1.1. I actually think it’s a better pen then the Eco, but would not replace a 580. I love that we have a cheep pen with a good capacity to give or suggest to new users.
    I also had an issue with deep bottles. I had a little bit of an issue with a half full Robert Oster bottle when filling mine.

  • @Sankis
    @Sankis 6 лет назад +38

    Hey David, as this is a cheaper pen it's probably aimed at children and a younger audience to a degree. The hole, then, is likely there as an anti-choking measure. You'll notice this on things like the Kakuno as well!

    • @blargvlarg1390
      @blargvlarg1390 6 лет назад +3

    Inkcident... Love it, I'm going to use that. The Pen at this time doesn't appeal to me because of the spring, should TWSBI make the pen with a solid coloured body to hide the spring it would be better, (for me) however I'm sure TWSBI made the pen a demonstrator so that the filling mechanism would be a talking point. Again for myself, I would prefer it to have a larger nib. The price is really good, here in the UK you change the currency signs to get our prices, so $ become £ if you then convert that back with the currency exchange calculator you see we immediately pay more than our US cousins, but that's how it is...
    A novel filling system which is quite appealing but I'm thinking it's going to lead to inkcidents . It would be interesting to know say 6months down the road.
    So,,, thank you for another excellent review and I look forward to whatever you review next.
    Best wishes to all pen people.

    I really hate the packaging of colorverse inks. Firstly, I have to cut into the label to open the box, which SUCKS for people like me who display inks on shelves in their boxes. Second, the boxes are ENORMOUS, taking up space. Third, the little bottle sucks in so many ways. I'd rather have either an 80mL bottle or no little bottle at all, since if it's the same color, why bother? and if it's a different color, I can't BUY a big bottle of that color, which annoys me, and the little bottles are obnoxious to use.
    Colorverse inks are cool, I like the bottle shape, I like the ink quality, I am a SUCKER for space themed anything, and I am happy to pay the premium. But please god get rid of the tiny bottle, make the box smaller, and either drop the price a smidge or give me a bigger bottle of regular ink.
