@35:20 the Rukallos was only allowed to negate because the Runick player chose to Summon for some reason. You pick which effect to activate when you activate Runick Quick-Plays in the same way you pick effects for Talents, and in the same way if for instance you chose to "Take control of opponent's monster" with Talents, the opponent can't Ash you; you can't Rukallos the Flashing Fire if they chose to negate a monster.
Dragon Link is such a weird deck.. it feels like its always just 1-2 cards away from returning to Tier 1 Status. And hey.. Elpy and Eclipse would just do that. And the Deck got even stronger with the Bystials sliding in so effortlessly.
I still kinda feel like Tear could've had a good chance if they didn't side Nibiru in for Swordsoul. That deck is notorious for how easily it plays around Nib, and putting in too many handtraps has a good chance of causing you to brick yourself (as seen here). They also had pretty terrible luck game 2, since they had 20 strong mills in the deck and they missed all of them from a mil 5. though siding in Nibiru seemed to be part of the problem again lol. Come on, they knew they were going first game 2 and they still made their deck weaker with Nib!?

something not mentioned enough is just how crazy good dlink player quantal think is. that deck is hard to play even without all the changes made by this new list, i really think if you gave that list to a regular player they wouldnt make it nearly as far
Oh wow, true draco even without floodgates almost wiped the floor with the tournament again, what a surprise, it's almost like master piece is a problem
Card Vomit decks like Dragon Link are always a couple cards away from being unbeatable as they either don't have garnets or can still go full combo with them effectively giving them no downsides or weaknesses.
No Adamancipator in the Tournament with this banlist?! If I had known this I would have send in a list myself. I mean Agido, Mudora, Block, Meow-Mu, Grass? Hopefully the next Masochist Banlist Tournament takes place before Superheavy Samurai gets hit. Would be really sick to see that deck at that power level.
The reason why adamancipator was not chosen was because it was deemed too uninteresting and too generic good stuff that other decks were deemed more interesting for the tournament. There was only a certain amount of slots as you know, and the tournament organizers wanted to have a mix of current meta decks, ftks and jank decks, and evil combo decks like mine, along with fan favorite moron decks like true draco and zoodiac.
Its always an interesting watch, to be fair, but Im also left with the same takeaway of "What an idiot" or "Just why?" True Draco is a problem every single tournament and he insists on trying to make it okay while giving it enough to become relevant again. D-link was insane, but a combination of errors in judgement. Protos was definitely a mistake. Love these, but you gotta try and actually succeed sometime. That and maybe run double elim or swiss to get a better idea of how things perform long term, but i understand how hard that is to arrange.
I think sword soul misplayed, why did he banish his own Punisher, he could of summoned Monk and banished Monk. Granted I don't think a single Punisher is going to do much, but it's better then ending on Monk.
Thanks for the amazing video as always MBT. This kind of tournament really helps understand the differences between archetypes from many eras. The design philosophy they had, how they are played, what they lack, what they exceed at; how everything contrasts between one another.
I want to see the opposite of the moron banlist. Let's get rid of all the op generic extra deck monsters. Semi every good pot card that are at three. Let's see a banlist double the size

I would really like Konami did this. That said, as fun as this was, few things are lacking. 1) Everyone should be allowed to play any deck. Number one factor in determining how good a deck is is representation. Even the best decks can brick once, but that is often absorbed by other decks.Having one Spright and one Kashtira with the worst pilots possible doesn't prove anything about those decks. 2) Number 1 was the main concern, but there should be at least 3 or 4 tournaments with the same list. That all being said, there were enough tournaments to conclude that Wind-Ups and Infernity suck and should be released. Also, would like to see Tomahawk since it does nothing in the OCG or MD.
The tomahawk line only didn't do anything because the kashtira player was under their own shifter and so ended up having their auroradon banished. It at least puts up 1 negate

@@Malister23 If he had Baroness instead of Long Yuan the Saronir had no way to force out the Blackout and would have been forced to crash to start the combo. Sadly the Swordsoul player could have walked away with it, but made 1 tech error that ruined the entire game.
Quantal could have played around nibiru game 1, so they kinda just ended up trading misplay for misplay.
@@kashiffarees881 fair enough.
It's so funny to think that this resulted in D-Link v Swordsoul in the same year world's also resulted in D-Link v Swordsoul.
It was forshadowing.
My favorite part about these tournaments is that they don't actually tell us ANYTHING about this format lmao
Maybe we shouldn't have Eclispe Wyvern and the Bystals at the same time.
Yeeeah the Bystials make D-Link pretty absurd especially with Eclipse and Elpy legal :D
I think you should instead pay attention to the die rolls. D-link won every die roll they encountered.
And you know D-Link going first was the issue when the blind second True Draco deck decides “no I need to go first against this deck”
It's crazy to think that D-link would get better than this over time. Mainly because it takes so long to optimize the deck.
“Just draw the out!”
Duo discards the card that would stop the dragon link’s whole turn.
“See!”
Facts, unlike many broken spel cards like d.duo and Potof greed there's no way to stop delinquent duo, no hand trap contests it
@@animationtv426
"there's no way to stop delinquent duo, no hand trap contests it"
Gemini Imps is how you contest cards like Delinquent Duo.
Unless mistaken the only handtrap that would stop it is hearald of the green light. But obviously that's a deck specific handtrap and you neg 1
@@DCComicsAndSomeOtherThings
Gemini Imps is a handtrap that negates a card that discards on resolution, then let's you draw a card.
While situational, it keeps your handsize the same after use and can negate cards like Delinquent Duo.
Would certainly be a niche card that only would see play if discarding effects became more common, but if Delinquent Duo became unbanned then it might become be a good side deck option.
Very cool! Thanks. I have never seen that card. Seems like based on the card art it was pretty made to counter DD
MBT will succeed where Icarus failed
EDIT: He flew too close to the sun :(
You gave dragons everything and it did not disappoint! XD
Ah... we're never getting wyvern and elpy back. lol
I could see Wvyern coming off when we get the remake of the chaos dragons structure deck. Elpy on the other hand, yeah he has to stay...
@@bl00by_ yeah, i wonder if they'll do that, or just give us a tone downed retrain.
@@bl00by_ its the other way around. elpy was never the problem in these games. it was eclipse wyvern.
The DLink vs Mathmech was painful. Dude was fighting for their life in an unavoidable loss.
Dlink really made mathmech look like a tier 3 deck😭
MBT has run amok with too much power. He has transcended card text.
Edit: have you considered paying royalties to lithium2300 for "time for that all important game 3" 😂
i thought it was a cimo reference...
dragonlink never dies. dragonlink always adapts
17:50 grabbing Pinny over Catty off Melffy of the Foresr had me like 🙀
True Draco brethren, we were this close to victory..... Next year will be our year i can feel it
The tournament proves nothing when the players are braindead 🤣 🤣 🤣
I joke though, these are always terribly fun
well you're right though. not even regarding the pilots, the single elim format doesnt do it justice. we need swiss rounds to see how the decks deal with other matchups. But I know doing that would probably double the time it takes to do the tournament (or more) so I understand why he doesn't do it.
What have we learned class?
Class: bystials we're a mistake!
Thats right class! Now take your ritalin
It's incredible how Draco only lost to the one deck that's even more broken, if it was matched up against something else it would've gone to finals and lost to d-link there
@35:20 the Rukallos was only allowed to negate because the Runick player chose to Summon for some reason.
Editor masterfully cutting out how he accidentally showed a tri brigade list instead of the 1 to 3 list.
I miss having Twitch chat on screen during the games for these.
the fact the winner didn't even have pot of greed is insanely hilarious to me
you gave dragon link elpy literally gave them whole world
That eclipse wyvern was insane too
As a dragonlink player, i would love to see either elpy or eclipse come back this is nuts
The meta game hasn’t changed at single bit. Just ignore when it does and we’re good.
I don't have a lot of experience against swordsoul and my side deck was complete garbage. Definitely could've done better, though I didn't replace engine for hand traps, I replaced the kaijus.
@@rocapbg9518My bad, that actually makes a lot of sense. Kaiju are obviously trash going 1st so you needed to side them out for something. Super Poly might have been slightly better going first, but you didn't have a lot of strong options. You really were mostly just super unlucky.
joseph we need our chalislime and banlist tournaments back it was most people's favourite content even if its high effort
as a Monarch player i watched this rooting for my True Draco brothers
Man Eclipse Wyvern was one of my favorite cards when it came out. Glad it’s so good it can’t be used anymore lol. Maybe a hard once per turn😂
14:41 is the game is the exact reason I've always hated playing against True Draco. No matter what their board state is, you're always just 1 Card of Demise into Duality into Diagram into Heritage away from losing the game.
"This is me unbanning two thirds of the yugioh banlist!"
"MBT, this is the 7th time in a row you've shown Unbanning two thirds of the yugioh banlist in class."
i feel like we need a bigger tournament, not just 16 decks mbt chooses with some of them just being a normal deck but with 1 pot of greed. i imagine some of those wouldnt even have made it to top cut. but what do i know
Problem is to organize bigger tournaments. This takes tons of time.
Guys, I don't know how to say this, but I think the ban list actually exists for a reason.
mbt we’ve been through this already
When I think that "Nah no way Swordsoul goes that far"
Swordsoul in final 💀
It really is funny that the decks that made it to the top were both essentially dragon decks
Half of these decks make diabellstar and snake eye and fire king look balanced and fair
Dragon Link is actually just the coolest Deck to ever exist. Nothing comes close holy shit
I play 50 1 of cards with like 7 garnets and I'm going to always open a playable hand because all I need is 1 of my 35 starters.
@@secretlyaslug2325 Yeah, that's not how that deck works but sure
Dragon link is a deck I'd best describe as "yugioh turbo" where you activate as much yugioh as possible
always has been. was somehow even cooler w pepega ruler
Seeing how hard the zoo list cratered this tournament, i think the adventure zoo list i posted might have been better.
zoo crattered because it's bad. you could unban every zoo card tomorrow to 3 and it'd still be bad lol.
You could be an auctioneer with how fast you were able to narrate those combo lines
F in the chat for the Spright player who opened Pot of Greed and Delinquent Duo and somehow still lost.
Well thankfully MBT has learned his lesson this time. I'm sure this will neeeeeeever happen again.
MAN!!! Dandylion and Glow-Up Bulb really DO make Sunavalon go BRRRRRRRRRRR
I was so right about dragon link. Literally every point I made was right, the winning list was 90% identical to mine.
To be fair the banlist helped them the most especially with elpy and eclipse wyvern. My jaw dropped cause I forgot 1 eclipse wyvern is basically a deck of eclipse wyvern
mbt talking about ad revenue while I smile at my adblocker :D
anyway this was awesome as always! a few noteworthy moments:
- 10:00 zoodiac traditionally performed very well in past tournaments but here it got eliminated 0-2 in the first round. wow
- 18:05 true draco once again establishing itself as the big villain by beating splight in frightening and cruel fashion
- 22:13 bad news: infernity at full power still isn't good enough because of the clear chokepoints. good news: archfiend can come back to 3! see?
- 24:58 - dasher + nibiru was fucking hype! unfortunately he couldn't turn things around afterwards
- 28:40 let this be a lesson to you kids: if you hold your nibiru for too long, it might be too late...
- 40:09 absolutely tragic that we didn't get to see the ftk. incredibly unlucky!
- 47:12 this whole matchup was like a 12 rounds boxing match but this was the early cut above the eye that led to TD's downfall. the big evil goes out in the 2nd round. btw eclipse wyvern has such cool synergy with bystials, it's a shame that they could never be played together irl
- 52:29 free the cat! prankids is another streamlined deck that loses to 1 simple well-timed interaction. even 1 cat is not enough
- 53:40 the lowpoint of the tournament. orcust player sacrifices anaconda to end on 1 negate but kash player summons a vanilla savage... welp
- 1:05:20 sometimes it is just nice to watch a cool deck absolutely wreck a boring deck. dragons wiping the floor with mathmech was cool^^
- 1:13:40 didn't expect the final to be as good as it was. the dragon player played out of his mind. not even mbt's favourite mispronounced card LONG ONE could save the wyrms. amazing gameplay. not necessarily the best deck one, but the best player.
I love swordsoul, but I seriously downplayed it so badly and thought it would get eliminated immediately compared to the other decks. Also that kash player forgot d shifter lasts for two turns oof.
banning a large chunk would be super fun, see what happens when all the 'main' strategies are gutted. Or maybe do like a themed event where you have a representative of each major tribe (spellcasters, dragons, warriors, fish, zombies, etc) could be fun too
Farfa is doing that series rn and it's wild. Predaplant was basically broken in it. I also died a little inside that non floodgate gravekeeper beat madolche. Like it actually won a game.
eclipse dragon with bystials is fuckin terrifyin holy fuck
Quantum a good player on d link who was smart and seem like he tested his deck vs most people who seem like it was their first time playing their decks.
something not mentioned enough is just how crazy good dlink player quantal think is. that deck is hard to play even without all the changes made by this new list, i really think if you gave that list to a regular player they wouldnt make it nearly as far
It also helps that he won every coin flip in every matchup.
Oh wow, true draco even without floodgates almost wiped the floor with the tournament again, what a surprise, it's almost like master piece is a problem
masterpeace i think only showed up once with the negates and the being unaffected lol
masterpiece was never the reason the true draco player won. its almost like master piece is only ok or something.
I wish you added Fiber Jar to a deck just for jokes, that's my favorite banned card.
Card Vomit decks like Dragon Link are always a couple cards away from being unbeatable as they either don't have garnets or can still go full combo with them effectively giving them no downsides or weaknesses.
I love that the finals is Dragon vs. NOT Dragon
Ikr that shit that was so shocking
The reason why adamancipator was not chosen was because it was deemed too uninteresting and too generic good stuff that other decks were deemed more interesting for the tournament. There was only a certain amount of slots as you know, and the tournament organizers wanted to have a mix of current meta decks, ftks and jank decks, and evil combo decks like mine, along with fan favorite moron decks like true draco and zoodiac.
Its always an interesting watch, to be fair, but Im also left with the same takeaway of "What an idiot" or "Just why?"
True Draco is a problem every single tournament and he insists on trying to make it okay while giving it enough to become relevant again.
D-link was insane, but a combination of errors in judgement.
Protos was definitely a mistake.
Love these, but you gotta try and actually succeed sometime.
That and maybe run double elim or swiss to get a better idea of how things perform long term, but i understand how hard that is to arrange.
I’ve never understood how zoo was good
Dragon Link out here makin MBT spit like an Auctioneer just to keep up.
I think sword soul misplayed, why did he banish his own Punisher, he could of summoned Monk and banished Monk. Granted I don't think a single Punisher is going to do much, but it's better then ending on Monk.
He probably forgot borrelend was untargetable cause I'm pretty sure that was the card he wanted to banish.
Funny how the wcs finals decks were the same as here
Same out come too
Delinquent duo rng hitting key cards is exactly the fun I expected to see let’s goo
Thanks for the amazing video as always MBT. This kind of tournament really helps understand the differences between archetypes from many eras.
The design philosophy they had, how they are played, what they lack, what they exceed at; how everything contrasts between one another.
The dragon pile never dies 1:16:38
god this series is so effing hype, i was so excited to see this again, not sure where we go from here but where ever that is i can't wait!
Honestly this was so much more interesting than any yugioh in like the last 3-4 years.
I want to see the opposite of the moron banlist. Let's get rid of all the op generic extra deck monsters. Semi every good pot card that are at three. Let's see a banlist double the size
semi limit on the pots won't do shit
See Farfa's "Last Card Standing" tournament series.
That’s literally farfa’s series
Why semi limite the pots? Lol
@@kauanjos3199 people severely underestimate how effective semi limiting consistancy cards can be, specifically in regards to long tournaments. Second let me be specific ban pot of prosperity, keep desires semi limited, and semi limit pot of extravagant. I don't think it's healthy for the game to have generic draw 2 spells, however I very much doubt they will ever be banned so they should at least be placed semi limited. players will still be able to build decks in a manner that lets them play either of those cards, while make it so that those deck have less consistency in longer tournaments. prosperity it just broken as hell and should be banned.
how many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man
MBT’s slowly building hype as infernity almost started cooking in round 2 just for it to crash in burn was so funny
The actual worst pilots you could have for most of these decks
Damn I was really rooting for Swordsoul 😢
@@night.breeze ?? Am I not allowed to like a deck now?
@@night.breeze ok 😶

this a blast from the past, elpy pisty still one of my favorite duos
Chaos dragon SDR this year btw, eclipse, chaos ruler, and elpy coming to 1 just to spite everyone and promote it.
The tomahawk line only didn't do anything because the kashtira player was under their own shifter and so ended up having their auroradon banished. It at least puts up 1 negate
