How is she underrated? She is considered the greatest female lead in the West End and on Broadway. Read the comments of Cameron Macintosh and Claude-Michel Schönberg you can find this on Google. After landing the part the Lead part of Kim in Miss Saigon, she went onto a record stint on Broadway and got the role of Éponine in the Broadway production of Les Misérables. You are talking utter nonsense. She is recogised as one of the best ever.
OUCH, I feel old! I saw it on B'way in 1991 with Salonga, Jonathan Pryce, Hinton Battle, and a different Chris who was nowhere near as good as Will Chase is here. The other 3 richly deserved their Tonys. I can't believe the chemistry these two had.
I love Will Chase as Chris. He's the best one by miles. He brought a masculine sensitivity to the role. He and Lea has extraordinary chemistry. Plus, he looks like a damn good kisser.
Sterling Ross I'm gonna have to disagree with you there I personally think Simon Bowman from the original cast with lea was the best for chemistry as well as being a damn better singer than will
Elyssa Shackleton did you see the 25th Anniversary with Lea and Simon and Alister(?) singing this? The first and current Chris with the original Kim. It was so wonderful.
I beg to disagree! Watch Simon Bowman, the original Chris, he's the best, original and no one can't beat him. You should see him kissed Lea, it's the most passionate as far as I could remember.
I've never seen a more passionate, more thrilling love duet than this one. The electricity between these two is magical. The sheer beauty of this clip reduced me to tears of joy
He never came back and I sweAR I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED IN HOW THIS MUSICAL TURNED OUT. THIS SHIT MADE ME BELIEVE IN FOREVER AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED IN THE END.
shaBang! --- spoiler alert (don't read if you haven't watched the play)--- He did comeback for the son at the almost end and I think partly for Kim though I really wanted to know if he love kim more than Ellen cuz if it's the opposite I'll lose my mind. OMG TRUE AFTER WATCHING THIS I ALMOST PASSED OUT
Binge watching Ms Saigon clips for hours now. I just realized Lea’s 30yrs old in this 2000 Manila run of Miss Saigon! She’s still as gorgeous and her voice is still as clear as her 18 year old self! Amazing!
Lea's birthday is 2/22/71, so she would have been 29 in 2000. They were both in the Broadway MISS SAIGON when it closed in Jan 2001, so she stopped playing Kim before she turned 30. :)
One of the best scenes between Lea and Will as Kim and Chris. Will had so much sex appeal with his acting and singing, they really complimented each other, them being so young. Very touching between two young passionate lovers. You could almost feel the tragic situation...... that nothing good was going to come out of this love which was doomed from the beginning.
It's superb ! The best ever kind of musical Broadway that, as what I understand, this is the only musical show that bring Princess Diana into tears ! When it was showned back in London .
Will Chase never ceases to amaze me. His abilities are most profound. He colors his words of the lyrics in such a way as to have the viewer get into the story completely. He is sexually powerful, lyrically smooth, and such a perfect Chris. He is the best, hands down. I have seen several and I rank him number one!
I've seen Miss Saigon over 16 times in different counties, and I think this is the best The Last Night of the world!! Love it!! Will Chase and Lea Salonga both are very good indeed!!
I remember this at my dad's funeral and you were there, Ken. I remember Glen from the lions club doing the eulogy as my mum wanted this song played because she loved him so much and she said she had the best holiday with my dad Bryan and danced like there was no tomorrow in Fuengirola. He knew his heart was failing and was on a waiting list for a stent. I think my mum knew it was touch and go and so did I when we went to Cleethorpes in uncle Clifford's caravan in the October half term. It brings back so many memories of that day at the methodist church. I am so glad that the lions club members gave my mum the help and support she needed to get through the day, leaving her husband in spain and not able to see him again. David Harpin, Andrew Tate and his sister did a wonderful job 👏
Lily DeThyre there is a miss saigon movie (DVD) while the show was in London. Lea Salonga was part of the gala (Miss Saigon celebrated 25 years) Lea sings the movie in my mind with Rachel Ann and Last night of the world with Simon Bowman (the first Chris she sang with) DVD can be found on Amazon UK only.
Although that filmed version in London is perfect in every way, there is talking of producing an actual cinematic feature of Miss Saigon. It would be nice if Lea took the role of Gigi maybe.
When I watched the play, I honestly felt like I heard hearts shatter in the last few scenes. The mood was that intense inside the theater. Oh Chris, I’m not blaming you, but seriously, how could you?
I totally agree with you. Lea Salonga and Will Chase are the only Kim and Chris for me as well. I recently watched the new production with Emily Bautista as Kim and Anthony Festa as Chris. It was my first time watching a Miss Saigon production. I thought they were very good. They both have great voices. However, I totally love the Manila 2000 production! I watch it daily!
Oh my I have watched this many times and also Sun and Moon. everyday upon waking up in the morning, while drinking my coffee, while taking a rest, before I sleep. This is perfect. the guy is handsome. great voice. Lea is always the best miss saigon. I won't get tired watching. just couldn't find downloadable on this particular scene.
Incredible chemistry. I can't appreciate more. When Lea sings I will go with you, I genuinely wish the story is true, at least this chapter. It makes me feel n believe I saw love.
Best pair ever! It's quite hard to get a very good pair in a musical play where the two can both sing and act - but this is amazing! I've always been a fan of lea's voice and the way she brings out a character of a story. 😍😍😍
In a place that won't let us feel In a life where nothing seems real I have found you I have found you In a world that's moving too fast In a world where nothing can last I will hold you I will hold you Our lives will change when tomorrow comes Tonight our hearts drown the distant drums and we have music all right tearing the night A song played on a solo saxophone A crazy sound, a lonely sound A cry that tells us love goes on and on played on a solo saxophone It's telling me to hold you tight and dance like it's the last night of the world On the other side of the earth There's a place where life still has worth I will take you I'll go with you You won't believe all the things you'll see I know 'cause you'll see them all with me If we're together that's when we'll hear it again A song played on a solo saxophone A crazy sound, a lonely sound A cry that tells us love goes on and on Played on a solo saxophone It's telling me to hold you tight and dance like it's the last night of the world Dreams they were all I ever knew Dreams you won't need when I'm through Anywhere we may be I will sing with you a song... A song played on a solo saxophone So stay with me and hold me tight and dance like it's the last night of the world
Lea Salonga is beyond perfection! I followed her from Thats Enterntainment to numerous TV interviews until she joined Miss Saigon.. by then the world owns her!
Manila run really knows how to convey the emotions of this musical. Not surprising, because the country also has the same problems with this short time love, especially the height of the cold war and U.S. base here
I saw Miss Saigon in Philly yesterday and while it was wonderful it’s hard to imagine anyone but Lea Salonga as Kim. Her voice is so beautiful and you feel a deep connection to anything she sings.
Wow,here i see. This is the piece my classmates portray and they win over my team, they are good. But when i saw LEAH's performance here, they didn't even closed to the original. How amazing LEAH is... Proud of you #LEAH
My introduction to Miss Saigon was the DVD of the 25th anniversary production at the Prince Edward Theatre. I thought that Eva and Alistair were very good, but Lea and Will are on another level. I will be thinking about this musical for a while.
its sad that I will not gonna see lea salonga anymore in a Live Theatere when I have enough money to afford it. hope I will still get a chance. I love her so much.
How interesting when I see the board "Tân hôn", it means "the amazing wedding night" in Vietnamese. Although the musical is about a Vietnamese girl, few Vietnamese people know about it, and none of the actresses playing Kim is Vietnamese (Kim is not even a popular Vietnamese name). The "ao dai" Lea is wearing was not made in the right way either. However, the musical is great and love them both.
to be fair, regardless of it being of a foreign culture or not, typically musicals or shows about the past have inaccuracies that are hard to catch on to if a person is not from that specific place or time era
Awe saw lea salonga with Simon bowman when it was in preview when it first opened in the west end. They were fantastic and it was an unusual and wonderful musicle
I dream of this sort of love, it’s pretty much every female’s fantasy. Whilst I would never compare most things a westernised female has gone through to the situation of Kim’s, who doesn’t dream of some big strong handsome man picking us up, whisking us away and saving us from whatever situation were in? From the get go you can tell the whole things sort of too good to be true; I dream of this sort of romance but I know it’s just a fantasy. I had a similar thing to this when I was 16, much older guy like in this, just picked me up, whisked me away; the guy freakin’ dead now, he hung himself 2 years ago. No matter how wonderful and romantic something may seem at the time you have no idea how the future is going to pan out and life is harsh and cruel.
Been listening to this version I love regine velasquez of the Philippines and This is the best male version i ever heard Thank you alex for sharing your voice 😮
This brings me to tears every time, no matter how many times I see it, and they have the most amazing chemistry together, you'd swear they're really a couple in real life. Being a gay guy, damn he's pretty, and oh so talented, so is she though, love them both, if only I got to kiss him for a living, lucky girl!
I'm a straight girl, and Will Chase sat across from me on the subway one day years ago. I honestly swear he was checking me out a little, and just as I was about to make my move, a big group of people got on and stood in between us. What a missed opportunity. Will...call me! (Jkjk, I'm married now...)
@@erinwinebarkarnold1706 hey….we’re married, not dead! There’s nothing wrong with a little flirting, as long as you don’t act on it..speaking as a medical professional, it’s good for our mental health to know that we’re still considered attractive, and often give me a much need ego boost on those days I think no one could ever possibly find me attractive give after 32 years of marriage to the same man…heck, he and I both flirt together. Like many, I suffered from low self esteem most of my life…and while some may call it superficial, I call it a compliment when someone is checking me out. Don’t care if it’s a man or a woman, it’s flattering just the same, and there’s nothing wrong with that at all, and it doesn’t mean you love your spouse any less. My hubby is from El Salvador, with typical sexy Latin good looks. When people hit on him, I’m flattered and proud that he’s my guy, and because I know I can trust him 100%, and vice versa when I get hit on. Strangely, I get hit on at 52 years old more then I did in my 20’s, same goes for my hubby…we’re both a terrible tease, but admit it, it’s fun, and nice to know I haven’t lost all my looks with age (but I do work hard to stay in good shape, not for attention, but to stay healthy after beating cancer 3 times already). I believe it’s just human nature to look at what we find appealing, as I said, as long as we don’t cross the line for a quickie, it’s perfectly fine. But being gay is different in that when I go to the gym, I see everything close up in the locker room, so a lot of guys, straight or gay, do cross that line and are shocked when I turn them down. That part I’ll never understand, those vows I took were sacred to me, but seems a lot of men don’t care either way! For example…I’m in the gym just before Covid closed everything, and this 20 something year old guy with a body, butt, and crotch better then most porn stars, hops in the shower across from me (fogged glass partitions between stall, but no curtains so men on the other side see everything), starts looking at me, proceeds to get an erection and motions for me to join him…yeah….not going to happen, so he just stands there masturbating, and ejaculating, starring at me as I do my best to ignore him. I go to work the next day, and guess who the newest doctor just hired, to work with me was? Turns out he’s married to woman with 3 kids! Why do they do that?
I saw Alastair and Eva first so they will always be my Kim and Chris, but I have to admit these two absolutely nail this song* and this is the best rendition of it easily *they nailed the whole thing obviously, just I love Alastair’s and Eva’s but then again it was the first one I saw
So much passion, love and hope for bright future only to end in tragedy. This is so loving and yet painful and sad. Makes me cry every time I watch these two wonderful and great artists portray their roles so naturally. 🥲❤️💔
great production... me and my sis watched the whole production at Cultural Center of the Philippines .. three times... as in very nice ....miss lea perform very good.... great!!!
I'm watching Miss Saigon on Broadway HD.com. Lea Salonga is so much better actress than the girl playing Kim in the production I'm watching. I saw Miss Saigon in 1999 when I was in New York City. Will Chase played Chris in that production. I loved him, the guy in the production on Broadway HD.com was okay but I like Will Chase better as Chris
Just a week ago someone uploaded the complete miss saigon manila where the original Kim Lea And original Gigi isay are part of that production but sad to say that cameron mackintosh already deleted the video due to copyrights. People need to see how good Lea is.. Especially as Kim, as if it was made for her. I have the video but can't upload it cos i don't wanna compromise my acct
+Sarah Paraz i'm stil trying to look for an app that compress files but the one i found easily drain my battery and my phone gets hot. i'll let you know.
Thank you so much for posting this great clip for us to watch. I really enjoy this. Thank for all the efforts you made so I can have a glance (many times actually) at this performance, which may never have been at my reach.
Lea Salonga is so underrated. I wish that people would appreciate her more because she's contributed so much to musical theater.
it's cuz she ain't white like celine dion
@Ramon Florencio Perez it's cuz she made her name outside PH
@Ramon Florencio Perez trueee. It feels like PH doesnt deserve her.
She is not underrated anywhere. The hell r ya’ll on 😂
How is she underrated? She is considered the greatest female lead in the West End and on Broadway. Read the comments of Cameron Macintosh and Claude-Michel Schönberg you can find this on Google. Pamela LaBarbiera You're so lucky
I guess I was! These days Broadway prices are out of sight. But if you can afford it once in a while, there's nothing like live theater.
Pamela LaBarbiera And I would have to buy plane tickets to another continent too...well, maybe I'm rich someday;)

Looks like a good bottom.
Lea Salonga will always be the face and voice of Broadway musical Miss Saigon
Miss Saigon actually premiered in the West End London in 1989 until 1999 , it opened in Broadway in 1991.
Being a soldier on his part l think
Will chase is the most credible in his perpormance same with lea the only kim for me the best of the best.
She has immortalized herself in this role.
And she was effin 17 when she was picked!
I've never seen a more passionate, more thrilling love duet than this one.
The electricity between these two is magical.

Same! And it makes me want to cry even though it’s meant to be a happy song because I know how it ends 😥 I find it really bittersweet

Princess Jasmine and Mulan right there on the stage!!
Princess Jasmine's and Mulan's singing voice. LOL. Not "all of them"

Lea was born to sing the music of Boubil and Schonberg, she's perfect in this and Les Mis.
The harmony slays me.
That guy has the best voice to blend Lea's clean voice.
When I watched the play, I honestly felt like I heard hearts shatter in the last few scenes. The mood was that intense inside the theater. Oh Chris, I’m not blaming you, but seriously, how could you?
😂
Will Chase just picks her up off the ground as easily if she were a toddler!
she weighs 2 pounds lmao
lmaoooooooooooooooo
This is the best version of the song. It is so playful, makes you fall in love, and cry.
Will Chase is just so perfect as Chris, great and powerful voice, blends well with amazing powerful Leah's voice. They have the perfect chemistry!!!

Will Chase is freaking amazing. I love him. He puts so much emotion into his performance
Megan Finn can’t imagine he had to do it every night. Must be exhausting
Lea salonga is the best miss saigon among the rest
The chemistry is overwhelming with beauty. Both deserve even more
recognition and fame. I believed every word here.
Lea is unbreakable .

Moves me to tears. Saw it live in Broadway during the '90s. This guy is gorgeous - would love to be his leading lady.
Miss Lea Salonga.....the Pride of the Philippines and the filipinos!!!

In a place that won't let us feel
In a life where nothing seems real
I have found you
I have found you
In a world that's moving too fast
In a world where nothing can last
I will hold you
I will hold you
Our lives will change when tomorrow comes
Tonight our hearts drown the distant drums
and we have music all right
tearing the night
A song
played on a solo saxophone
A crazy sound, a lonely sound
A cry that tells us love goes on and on
played on a solo saxophone
It's telling me
to hold you tight
and dance like it's the last night of the world
On the other side of the earth
There's a place where life still has worth
I will take you
I'll go with you
You won't believe all the things you'll see
I know 'cause you'll see them all with me
If we're together that's when
we'll hear it again
A song
played on a solo saxophone
A crazy sound, a lonely sound
A cry that tells us love goes on and on
Played on a solo saxophone
It's telling me
to hold you tight
and dance like it's the last night of the world
Dreams
they were all I ever knew
Dreams
you won't need when I'm through
Anywhere
we may be
I will sing with you
a song...
A song played on a solo saxophone
So stay with me
and hold me tight
and dance
like it's the last night of the world
You are the unsung hero of everyone in the comments section

very nice to watch Lea, her voice is brilliant and i like this version with Will Chase.🥰

Very respectable Miss Saigon. She was able to play the role as Kim with decency.
This is the best version I have seen.
Sometimes all that is left is the memory of that moment to Hold onto. Hold tight.
I saw Alastair and Eva first so they will always be my Kim and Chris, but I have to admit these two absolutely nail this song* and this is the best rendition of it easily
*they nailed the whole thing obviously, just I love Alastair’s and Eva’s but then again it was the first one I saw
she’s so cuteeeee, makes us Filipinas proud
Elizabeth Cortez she certainly is and all you Filipinas are beautiful x
So brilliant, particularly Lea.
An absolutely stellar performance! 🌹🌹🌹
lea salonga beyond perfection
They look so good together. Wish the ending was different!
My favourite song from this musical seen it loads of times
I like Will Chase. Hayman and good in action like a real soldier especially when he kisses the superstar Ms. Lea Salonga. Very natural and awesome.
God I love Will Chase’s voice 💙
lea your'e indeed as a the ms.saigon....
Amazing and wonderful performance. ❤️
Will and Lea are indeed the best couple. David Campbell was also pretty good. Simon Bowman was dreadfull.
Superb performace! I suddenly fell in love to them both...
Idk who the actor is but man their chemistry is so good. Def better than the original.
They are just both beautiful, talented and most perfect for each other...love is just wonderful , falling in love is amazing!
I wish I could seen this show. Amazing
So much passion, love and hope for bright future only to end in tragedy. This is so loving and yet painful and sad. Makes me cry every time I watch these two wonderful and great artists portray their roles so naturally. 🥲❤️💔
yes! please upload the whole musical or share the link :) PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE!
This song is so beautiful! Got to appreciate the arts!
I don't know but I found chemistry in them😍💕
#stillwatching2018

I am lucky to see this show live in Manila. I wish they can bring this Canada!
great production... me and my sis watched the whole production at Cultural Center of the Philippines .. three times... as in very nice ....miss lea perform very good.... great!!!
Thanks for this!!!! I would have loved to watch it personally though back when Ms. Lea Salonga was still playing the part of Kim.
Bravo lea!! I saw live in London with my late husband. Unforgettable you...
Superb performance!!! I fell in love with them both...why did they not end up together? They both have a good chemistry.
My favorite performance of this by FAR!
+Ann B. Sad that he wont release a film similar to Les Mis. Would be a spectacular hit
Omg! How I want to have a copy :((
+Ann B. Is it possible for you to send it through dropbox or another cloud? I would really like to see the Manila prod. :(
+Sarah Paraz i'm stil trying to look for an app that compress files but the one i found easily drain my battery and my phone gets hot. i'll let you know.
+Ann B. Can you pls. send it to me, too? That's why I can't find the video on youtube anymore :( thank you so much!
Thank you so much for posting this great clip for us to watch. I really enjoy this. Thank for all the efforts you made so I can have a glance (many times actually) at this performance, which may never have been at my reach.
Still makes me cry!
Our Pride in the Philippines Ms Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon)
I repeat it again and again!! Gondo ng Voice!!
This love story is beautiful and makes me cry. It reminds me of falling in love with my Filipino gf. I wouldn't be able to leave either.
