Their modern multiplayer games aren't deathmatch any more, Alyx didn't have a multiplayer mode, and they seem to have a certain style of multiplayer games they prefer now. Maybe they'd feel like an HL3DM would be antiquated and go neglected, or that they could just leave it to the modding community to make...

Just imagine a multiplayer shooter like CoD or Battlefield, but with rebels (or human military, if we take the 7 hour war as base) vs combines. There could be special synth-units for when you get enough points during the match. Or some Rainbow Six Siege - like tactical first-person team shooter with Civil Protection and refugees/rebels, with some tactical abilities/devices. Kinda sounds like Gmod-RP, but without degenerates.

After Counter-Strike 2 i hope the community makes Half-Life 3 and Counter-Strike 3 like Black Mesa. The big companies barely make good games today. The fanbase has always potential.

Missed opportunity for not using the hazardous environments remix from CSGO as the main menu music. If you ever think about doing another menu concept again, look at how Rainbow Six Siege used to showcase that seasons operators. Have the main menu animation jump between the combine side and the resistance side to show off each side and their customized character.
