When you mentioned the russian rulette video I thought, wait... that was at 10k subs??? Your videos are so unique and refressing and adding a voiceover gives a great naritive. I bought this game after your last video on it and holy shit. I know it's a Minecraft clone, and I dislike the millions of other Minecraft clones for being cheap shitty knockoffs trying to cash in on some of the success. But this one is different. Yes, it's very blatantly a Minecraft clone but it also has its own identity, it feels like it was made not by someone who wants some Minecraft cash but by someone who genuinely cares, someone who is passionate about the original but has a different vision. Minecraft VR is garbage, the official version is just the mobile version but with 3d glasses and vivecraft is barely any better just better looking. There's no interactions, the interface is just lifted from the 2d version and floating in front of you, they're very much vr ports while Cyube is so clearly made by someone who gets VR
This discussion happens a lot in the hollow knight community because it inspired a legion of souls-flavored metroidvanias, and there’s a lot of debate over what’s inspiration and what’s just blatant plagiarism. This game definitely comes down in the former category. It’s clearly very heavily inspired by Minecraft but the developer injected his own style and ideas into it, and the result is something that is greater than the sum of its parts.
@@PlayerZeroStart 100%. Minecraft is particularly bad for it because it's so recognisable in aesthetic and gameplay, but also extremely simple and broad too. It's placeable cubes with low quality textures in a voxel landscape, it's not a complicated theme. So most ripoffs build just enough of that style to take some screenshots and make some money. But Cyube is so obviously different that it works. Like yeah, it's very, very close in aesthetic, gameplay, structure etc. but instead of feeling like a cash grab, you can feel that this is a dude (and it really is one dude as far as I know) who loves the original game. This is someone so passionate about Minecraft that they were genuinely disappointed with the VR options and that passion lead them to create an entire freaking game of their own to do it the way they clearly wanted it to be from the start. This isn't a cynical "that's popular, we want some of that pie" game, this is one of those people who adore a game and hit the limits of what modding could feasibly enable and went off and build the whole damn game themselves. It's not a "Block Break Game Lite" for iOS, it's a Black Mesa labour of love

Freedom Planet is a bunch of Sonic fans with so much passion for that franchise that they take what works, put their own spin and quality on it, and release it as its own game. They didn't do it to make money, they did it as a tribute to a series they love so much. The Great Giana Sisters is a shameless cash grab of Super Mario Bros, right down to the name. There's no passion in it, no attempt to make it its own thing, it's just a soulless, hollow shell trying to look like Mario Bros enough that they can make money off of it.

I am actually not someone who loves Minecraft, it's a game I have briefly played a bit at some point over 10 years ago, and that's it, I've never touched it again since then. I am actually surprised that so many people keep comparing cyubeVR to Minecraft. I personally never, ever do that. If you look at what I've written anywhere in the past 4.5 years since cyubeVR was released, you will see I never compare cyubeVR to Minecraft, ever. I want cyubeVR to be completely different, and I would think that that's very visible in the game. Apart from that they're the same overall genre ("voxel sandbox game"), almost everything is completely different in cyubeVR. Just like there are really big differences between different games in the First-Person-Shooter genre (A Half-Life is very different from a Battlefield or an Arma), there can be same big differences between different voxel sandbox games. "Being able to place blocks" is not really any different than "Being able to shoot a gun at an enemy". There can be many games where you can shoot a gun, and many games where you can place blocks, and they can be very different from each other. In the First-Person-Shooter genre that is completely obvious to everyone, but in the voxel game genre, for some reason it often leads to comparisons with Minecraft, which is a bit sad. My guess is that there simply are too few voxel games that managed to become popular, and since there are so few games in the genre, that leads to most people only knowing one single popular game of that genre (Minecraft) that they then compare other games of that genre to. But that is quite unfortunate, Minecraft is what made the genre very popular, but that doesn't mean that the genre should always be defined by Minecraft. Also, there of course were other games (like Infiniminer) in this genre before Minecraft even existed, so Minecraft is of course not "the original". Minecraft is one voxel game that became very popular and will probably be the most popular one for some time still, but there were games before it and there will be games after it. I am also very surprised that you say that cyubeVR would be "very, very close in aesthetic". cyubeVR has a completely opposite aesthetic than Minecraft, a completely different approach to how a game should look like. The cyubeVR aesthetic is all about "maximum graphics, 8K textures everywhere, super high details everywhere". The Minecraft aesthetic is all about "as simple as possible, extremely low res textures everywhere, nothing fancy, graphics doesn't matter". It's the complete opposite.
what's your CPU? the first time the world is generated it's very CPU heavy. older CPUs can take up to 30min to generate the world. Once the world is generated loading will be much faster. it's only slow on the first generating

I saw Cyube VR on steam the other day and added it to my wishlist, I play Minecraft and tried it in VR but it's a bit heavy on my Laptop with all my mods lol, this looks awesome!

This game seems really cool, and I can't wait to see this game really take off. I hope at some point it gets a real survival aspect to the game

I saw Cyube VR on steam the other day and added it to my wishlist, I play Minecraft and tried it in VR but it's a bit heavy on my Laptop with all my mods lol, this looks awesome!
