How to Transfer PS4 Game Saves to PS5 Console With USB or External Hard Drive (No PS PLUS NEEDED)

- Do you want to know how to transfer PS4 game save data to PS5 Console?
Ensure that your PS4 console and your PS5 console are both updated with the latest system software. This is important to ensure compatibility and smooth transfer.
On your PS4 console, connect a USB storage device (such as a USB flash drive) to one of the available USB ports.
From the PS4 home screen, go to the "Settings" menu.
In the "Settings" menu, select "Application Saved Data Management."
Choose "Saved Data in System Storage."
Select "Copy to USB Storage Device."
A list of your saved games will be displayed. Choose the game saves you want to transfer by selecting them individually or using the "Select All" option.
Once you've made your selections, choose "Copy."
The PS4 will begin copying the selected game saves to the USB storage device. This process may take some time depending on the size of the game saves.
Once the copying process is complete, disconnect the USB storage device from the PS4 console.
Turn off your PS4 console and set it aside.
Now, take the USB storage device with the game saves and connect it to one of the USB ports on your PS5 console.
Power on your PS5 console.
On the PS5 home screen, navigate to the "Settings" menu.
In the "Settings" menu, select "Saved Data and Game/App Settings."
Choose "Saved Data (PS4)."
Select "USB Drive."
A list of the game saves on the USB drive will be displayed. Choose the game saves you want to transfer by selecting them individually or using the "Select All" option.
Once you've made your selections, choose "Copy to Console Storage."
The PS5 will begin copying the selected game saves from the USB storage device to the console's internal storage. This process may take some time depending on the size of the game saves.
Once the copying process is complete, you can safely disconnect the USB storage device from the PS5 console.

thanks dude it works ! just one quick note though for people who had trouble copying from usb storage to ps5. you need to use the front usb-c port to transfer save file. it's unreadable for some reason if you use usb-port at the back.
you also don't need to format it to ex-fat or whatever it is, just use a normal harddrive and copy the save file. then paste the save file on ps 5 USING TYPE C PORT. happy gaming y'all hope you successfully transfer your save file
My man im doing ds2 platinum atm , bruda i rarely like videos ( i mean using the like button ) but for sure yours deserve , straight to the point helpful as hell and as s ps5 user ( mainly use pc for gaming so was kinda lost ) gg helped a lot

If you don't want online gaming, then yes, you don't need PS Plus. Otherwise, yes you certainly do. Personally, I can't imagine gaming without it.

Does not work for me at all. It copies correctly on the ps4. But when I go to the ps5 and plug into the usb-c port, I get nothing.

FIX if you can't get the usb, with the savedata, to show up on your ps5, if you have an older usb an easy fix might be to get a 3.0 or newer and put the savedata on there. Worked for me

Mine tells me the 2tb extended storage I was using for the ps4 isn't present after plugging it into the ps5.
@mile3018 mine says there is no usb drive connected when it is. I can even play games off of it but says no usb drive connected when I try to transfer saves
you had to use front usb-c (ps5 slim) instead of usb port at the back. you had to have usb-c storage or converter

One thing I noticed, u can't copy app data from a different account to yours, it acts like it's empty for some reason

Saved data transfers between different accounts is not possible.
Guess it will be a new user account to ps5 using new usb also with the save data you want to save.

@@ZaneDeGuzman when you are in the menu then you click on saving progress and you van do it, you must click it on, if you are not then it don’t wave your progress ony if you are transffers your data with the game, i hope i kan help you out!
I gotta question can you copy the save data from those games that you put on that usb to another account?
The saves are tied to the accounts, So no there is no way of using someone else's save.

Hey man, I’ve been playing RE4 on ps4 for 4 months and now I bought a PS5 I’ve transferred the game and the data to the ps5 but it’s not appearing
When I click to open the game it’s starting a new game.
I check on the pa5 if the data it’s in the console and I can see over 300M of data and all my savings in the past weeks but I can’t use the data only appears to me it’s new game why ?

Can anyone help ? I've just purchased a SanDisk 512gb usb stick with a view to copying PS4 data onto the stick and from there to my new PS5 slim. But pretty soon I ran into problems. I thought I had to format the disk as extended storage before transferring data but after I did just that the PS4 told me that it couldn't transfer the data as the disk was formatted as extended storage. So I re-formatted the disk as exFAT as instructed. I was then able to transfer the data to the USB stick. But when I tried to transfer the data to the PS5 and followed procedure I was met with a message which said 'Your saved data will appear here.' I sat there for half and hour and nothing changed. So, where is my saved data and why won't it appear on the PS5 so that I can then copy it to the new console ??

It doesn’t work because there are games as FFVII were your PS4 save data won’t be converted to PS5 unless you possess a PS PLUS active account; What I was looking for is a way to do it without PS PLUS and not to have installed PS4 version of the game in my PS5 if you know how please tell us!

Yeah cuz its been formatted as external storage to store games and app but try to reformat it again as exeFAT that way I think you can install save data.
