    My 17 Raptor supercab gets his mpg's during the winter in normal driving mode. I have more power,torque and weight. I have loved my rangers in the past, his mileage will improve when he is not in sport mode. Love the new ranger Raptor. Keeping my 17 though, lol.

      Thanks for the thoughtful comments. It is very much appreciated. I just hit 3400 miles so I’ll be doing an update on everything within the week. Pretty much all good stuff, no other issues have popped up and I’m having more and more fun with this truck every day! The Colorado is a great truck but like you, I really like the 6 cylinder that the Ranger has. Cheers

    Really liking and appreciate this series. However, at 9:50 you're pulling into a wide open parking lot and picking a spot right next to another car. I don't even do that with my 2020 Nissan. You gotta take space on the end spots!😀

    • @flaberdoopin
      @flaberdoopin  7 месяцев назад +1

      haha, when i go to a shopping center i park away from everyone, but this is on base where parking is limited so i take a look at who is hugging their parking lines and park on the other side of them to tip the scale in my favor. If i can, i take an end spot and i know the other guys who show up around the same time as me and they are cool... if i take a spot on my own, i have two people pulling up next to me... this takes 1 of the two out of the picture ahha. it's the little things... i also learned to always park into the wind when i lived in Oklahoma so that the wind doesnt rip the door out of my kids hands and the poeple in the car next to me... one step further is to always park by minivans with sliding doors... cheers

    Infotainment screen orientation is not ideal. Going with a 24 Canyon Denali since it has google on board and a horizontal screen. Dont need to race anyone or break stuff on the trails i wanna cruise in ultimate comfort and silence. I will however put some 2.5 billstein in the Canyon for extra solidity though. There is a video of one of the Ford engineers talking about start/stop, and he said there is very little wear on the starter because the computer remembers which piston is set to fire next, so it uses very little effort to restart the engine.

    • @flaberdoopin
      @flaberdoopin  7 месяцев назад +1

      I have only had it for a week so other than the dirt road heading to the farm and some of the horrendous roads with potholes in DC, I have't gotten it out on the trails yet. It did do well over the potholes and it was fun to rip around the dirt road with one bit dip into a puddle heading to the farm. When I lived in Hawaii I took my eco diesel gladiator to the north shore and took it on some of the trails and in and out of some of the big deep washouts there which was fun but never any real rock crawling or anything too serious because that truck, and this one, will be my daily driver.
      I am also sort of a loner so I don't want to do anything that is going to snap and axle or a control arm when I am out by myself and get stranded. I am a very casual off roader. I will be taking it out to a local trail this weekend or next and I'll try to get some footage but there are some other channels with some amazing content of these things ripping around the assault course and on some of the trails in Utah so anything I put together will pale in comparison

    • @jayrod377
      @jayrod377 7 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve seen plenty of those videos already. I’m with you. This truck would be my daily driver so I don’t want to jeopardize damaging it either, and likely wouldn’t take it to those extremes. Plus, it’s an expensive truck and I can’t afford to repair the thing all the time. I have a 2015 Colorado and have just been revisiting to midsize market to see what’s out there. The Ranger Raptor is overkill for me but I sure do like its looks. Seems a bit wider than my Colorado from what I’m seeing, which is nice. I’m going to test drive one as soon as I can find some in my area. Oh, and love the green. That and White are the two colors I’d pick from.

    • @jgelliot
      @jgelliot 6 месяцев назад +1

      FYI, the winch doesn't get connected to the upfitters. Everyone makes this mistake in videos... but a winch has much higher draw than those switches could possibly handle.
      You COULD wire the switch to a relay, but that's pretty pointless since almost any new winch doesn't have parasitic draw when off.
      Those switches are for lights or maybe a radio.

    • @flaberdoopin
      @flaberdoopin  6 месяцев назад

      @@jgelliot 100%, all an aux switch would be good for is to power the relay... i didn't realize that they had gotten so good to avoid any slow draw when not in use, that is good to know. I dont think i will have 6 switches worth of lights but you never know. Probably use one for a compressor, one for a radio and 1-2 for lights and have two for extra stuff... possibly a little fridge in the back if i set up for overlanding. maybe a little water pump for a portable shower. man, i'm coming up with all sorts of ideas right now

For instance, if I turn off the safety distance radar or the auto start-stop, then I switch the car off then leave for a couple of minutes, then I come back and start the car, will those two main things be off or would I have to turn them off again from the system? (sorry for the long message)

    • @flaberdoopin
      @flaberdoopin  6 месяцев назад +1

      If you turn off the distance radar, i think that setting will stay off until you go in and turn it back on... but i'm not sure on that. As for the auto start stop, it will have to be turned back on every time. I know that if you are only out for a few min (like getting gas or running into the store really quick) there will be an option to go back into previous driving mode with all settings (to include auto start stop disabled if you had it off before) but you have to accept that prompt, if you do nothing, it just goes back to normal mode with auto start stop enabled again. Hope this helps answer your qeustions. I can try to do a video on this specifically when i get back home becasue i think it would be something more people are interested in!

    Nice video, but can i ask you a question about the horizontal of the vehicle body. Since i owned Ford Ranger Raptor 2.0 and when i turning or taking a curve road, it shakes hard in horizontal way. It makes my back passengers feel uncomfortable. So do you have this issue with your Ranger Raptor since your car shock is different from mine. Thanks in advanced.

    • @flaberdoopin
      @flaberdoopin  7 месяцев назад

      There is no way to disable it completely without adding a piece of hardware that connects to the OBD2, but you can have the setting turned off in your "raptor profile" that you can access with the push of a button on the steering wheel at start up. I currently have my R button on the wheel set to go into sport mode with Auto start stop off... i just press the button each time i turn it on and it is disabled... if that becomes too much of a pain, i plan on buying the little piece of kit that i hook up to the OBD2 to disable completely.

    I'm throwing a red flag on those CV driveshafts on design and material longevity...as you can see the rust already becoming prominent. The rust will work it's way in the boots of the shafts although sealed, which will contaminate and mix with the grease thereby wearing the bearings and producing above normal temperatures internally at these pivot points due to friction especially at high speeds. An upgraded version is highly recommended as these shafts will fail prematurely. you're welcome.🚩😫

      I agree that the mileage is atrocious and if I didn’t have to drive into DC every day I would have gone full size

      I don’t get why people think there’s no cost for going a full size. Absolute garbage in cities, can’t even do atleast 20% of trails by me in one because of trail size. And obviously, a hell of a lot more for a similar trim level.

      I know,jeep is using plastic,water pumps ,oil coolers and other parts along with other autos and with age an high heat they are failing big time with a high repair cost.
      The only benefit is less cost to make a car ,no benefit to buyers in longevity or wallets.
      after a pentastar v6 sits for 20 minutes after running all the oil evacuates from the filter ,causing a no oil condition on the top side for 4 to 5 seconds.
      I'm done buying any new cars.
      We just bought a 95 crown Vic with 8000 on it
      Looks factory new ,we found it down south last week and it's a gem we dove it and after 15 min bought it , being delivered on truck next week cheap no but cheaper than a new car today,and I can work on it.
      New cars are like new refrigerators today.
      They used to be durable goods not anymore.
