As I watch this video my RR is at the shop getting the tune installed. The boost in torque at lower RPM’s is going to give the truck a welcome upgrade.
How did it go? I’m super jealous, I have had my tune ready for the past week and the dealers are having serious issues around me trying to figure out how to install it
@@flaberdoopin well worth the price. Definitely perked up the truck , especially at lower RPM’s. Smoothed out the shifting. Many of the comments about it should have come from the factory like this. The increase in torque is super noticeable. I had issues finding a dealership to do it. I see you have VA plates. If you are anywhere near Manassas, call Ourisman Ford. Great experience with them.
that is the dealer that I ended up finding to do the work but the tech ended up in the hospital with kidney stones before he was able to get my truck done. Hoping he makes a speedy recovery and is able to get my truck finished up on Monday or Tuesday of next week
They said there are only two technicians that can do the tune. They mentioned one was out sick. My service tech was a guy named Bobby. He was super helpful explaining everything to me. Bobby said he has had six tune installs for the week due to the word spreading. They were the only Ford dealership in NOVA that said they could do it. Good luck. You’re going to like the upgrade. Everything seems smoother about the ride.
I’m not messing with the Ford Performance Tune. I’ll wait another month or two for Livernois Motorsports to come out with their tune. I currently run a Stage 4 Livernois Tune in my 2020 Explorer ST, and that thing is a beast. Plus you have two other tunes onboard and can flash the computer at will. That, and I’m almost sure the Livernois Tune will have more power and torque than Ford Performance’s.
yeah, i think a lot of people are a little hesitant to void warranty with aftermarket tunes. This is a great middle ground for the people who want to keep factory warranty and still get some more performance.
Can't wait to see this once you're able to get it done. Still covered under warranty is awesome as well. Exciting and I don't own a RR yet.. maybe one day 🤔
Yeah, the front seats were nice in the Tacoma, but the shifter and most of the touch points feel cheaply made. The Raptor genuinely feels like a premium interior and is very solid in comparison.
I spoke to my Ford dealer about this tune. Basically proceed with caution with regard to warranty. 5 year 60k mile powertrain warranty is null and void along with any extended warranties. You toast a turbo and you’re $4k out of pocket. Kind of risky for 50 hp

yeah, i'm pretty sure it wouldn't be to hard to install but for what it is, i guess we gotta pony up and have a real mechanic do it so we can get the warranty
@@2011buddyleeI don’t think it should cause any issues with a dealer doing warranty work on it with this tune on it in California. Cali smog issues shouldn’t keep ford from taking care of their vehicles
awesome! Wish this was available when i first got it but i guess i will just appreciate it that much more now that i have 9,000 miles on it from the factory before the monster tune
While this is great news and awesome and all - I don't think I agree with the reduction in warranty. Ford Performance should be confident enough to keep the full 5year warranty, it seems they're not confident in this tune using the factory hardware - 2 year warranty reduction is substantial! I have to question why they decided to reduce the warranty with this tune... even if it is a loop hole they can use to get out of any warranty repairs - feels kinda wrong when the tune is from Ford and done at a authorised dealer...
I agree with you... i wish it kept the full warranty as well. but as the saying goes when modified cars... you gotta pay to play. This is the middle ground the way i see it.
@flaberdoopin Just got my 2024 Ranger Raptor here in Brazil and can't wait to flash the software. Since they are all produced in Thailand, do you think it will be a VIN restricion for the non US veichles? Affraid to get one of this US Ford Performance kit and not work here... What do you think?
@@mfrancatube i dont know enough about the tune to know if it would work on other global trucks or not. Sorry. My first thought is that it would but then again the auto start stop software here in the states doesn’t work on trucks outside North America so there are a lot of little differences i wouldn’t have thought of. Also, they are tuned different, i heard some of the overseas trucks dont have the same power but haven’t done a lot of research on that.

Not sure if you know the answer to this, if you live in California can you even purchase this tune? I know the dealers won't install it but I wonder if Ford will even ship it here?
from what i understand, an authorized ford performance retailer can not ship the tune to california. I have been told that the dealerships will not install the tune in California but my question with that is what about all of the military members that have their vehicles registered in other states that do not have to do SMOG tests and other California regulated things. If i were to get stationed in San Diego and i keep my truck registered in VA and something breaks, it seems to me that ford and ford performance would still have to cover any repairs to my truck under the warranty for the tune. I have called ford performance a few times and they are pretty helpful. you may be able to give them a call and see what they say.

For those thinking you have warranty, you dont, read there in depth post, if your raptor blows up thats on you and the risk you agreed to take, ford will not be responsible for the damage and there will be no warranty, just a scam to blow your car up so you buy another
There is a 3 year / 36K warranty (from date of in-service) on the vehicle from Ford Performance that will cover entire powertrain in case of failure as a result of the tune, if it is determined that the tune is the issue... if not the tune (example the radiator springs a leak or blows a hose off) that will be covered under standard warranty. Not sure where you read that there is no warranty. maybe reach out to your local dealer and ask them, but dont spout nonsense like this where people might believe you just because you say it like you mean it
I think I know the video that you are referring to, the one that says in the title ‘your engine CANT handle it’, right? That guy was way off base with regards to this tune and it is obvious to anyone who has ever tuned a vehicle or ever purchased a ford performance part in the past that he is not giving a fair assessment. It is by no means a scam, I encourage anyone who is thinking about this tune to do more research beyond that one fear-mongering video with zero mechanical evidence to support his claim. If someone is going to say an engine can’t handle something, discuss the weak link, he just said that the existing warranty won’t cover it (which is nothing new) just my thoughts on it
I think it's important to stress that while Ford Performance provides a warranty, this will void at least the powertrain portion of any extended warranty you may have purchased.
