It's a really worthy phone to get, but Google software locking certain features exclusively for the Pro phone is a bad decision. The Pixel 8 should get the same treatment to sell better 🤙

The thing that I feel that is not being mentioned about the 7 years support window is what just happened with older pixel models update to android 14. There are features in the new Android version that are exclusive to pixel 8, and even funnier enough, only exclusive to pixel 8 pro. These features are purely software, and despite the company calling the tensor G3 a more ai focused processor in comparison to last year's models, the pro will still have features that the regular pixel 8 will not have, despite sharing the same chip. My question is, what is the guarantee that the pixel 8 and pro will not suffer from the same selective omissions that older models did just now with android 14 when future models come out? Let's not forget that many of these ai features are using cloud servers to process their magic.
That is exactly my opinion... Update on security only? And a few tricks here and there of Android OS that nobody is asking. And this outdated chip for 7 years?
That is generally the way it works. The more money you pay, the more you get in hardware and software. Apple, Google, etc, are upselling you to their flagship devices where they can make money. They make little on the upper mid-range phones like the Pixel 8.
There is no guarantee and that's the beauty in what people say: don't buy a device based on a promise what it will get, buy it based on what it can do now. There is no guarantee that there will be updates that make it better, but they could also update the hell out of it and keep it for all those 7 years. It's a gamble, a pretty big one, all that matters is whether you want to be one of the few who are willing to take it. Based on their history, I wouldn't, because every single Pixel launch has been a buggy mess, in which they failed to deliver on all their promises. I remember when I got the 2XL and boy was that bad at launch. The good ol' Nexus days are long gone. I bit the bullet with the 2XL, 5, 6a and the 7 Pro and never again. Currently running an iPhone, which I'm not that happy with (mainly because of the lack of access to internal storage, to use the phone as a flash drive of sorts, or to play movies over usb to my TV etc., plus some other stuff, faceid is nice though), so I'm now looking at Moto Edge 40 Pro or the Xperia 5 V. If the Pixel 8 had a snapdragon SOC and most software features weren't blocked in my country I'd really consider it, since it ticks most of my boxes. I just don't want to deal with the bugs and region restrictions anymore. I also don't trust that the Tensor G3 will last for 7 entire years.
Just get a deal from buying one used off FB marketplace. Even if not 7 years after 4-5 you should probably switch phones. Problem with 7th Gen pixels is they lose updates and security by 2026 so you really only have 2 years left but thats if you're willing to upgrade then
Also 128gb storage will be nowhere near enough to last, if they’re promising that long updates it needs minimum 256gb or bring back the micro sd slot to move files for back up

I have a question on performance because i am very conflicted on if i should get the pixel. I play COD mobile, if i reduce the refresh rate to 60 hertz and also tone done the game settings, do i still get thermal throttling issues?
I disagree on battery performance. The battery performance isn't it's strength but it's not bad either. Overall, in it's price range, it's hard to top. I could easily recommend this phone. It's a solid choice.
I think In Depth Tech Reviews did a thermal test with the S23 Ultra, Apple 15Pro Max and the Pixel 8 Pro beat the Apple 15 Pro Max in thermals so that part of this review isn't 100% accurate.
I still have a Pixel 5 as i love the compact size (small hands) but battery has declined and some pictures are slow to take. Will the 8 still have a better battery and worth the upgrade?
I would describe that as "damning with faint praise". It would be good if it was $200 cheaper but at that price why not buy the Iphone 15 which offers more or the the Pixel 7 which can be picked up for half the price.
@@44Hogarth CDMA is the superior network standard for cellular providers but GSM is required by law in EU. About half the carriers in the US use the CDMA technology and the other half don't. So here's the question why does the pixel 8 pro get such good battery life it's got the same processor and modem Yes it has a bigger battery but it seems to be getting much better battery life than the 7 pro.
Disappointing battery life and charging speed. I could live with it if it was fast to charge like some of the Xiaomi phones.. The phone will be long past it's best days before the software updates cease. Good speakers and a decent camera though.

too many bugs to be considered a good phone... it is a shame that android a project on which is part of google, to have such bad optimization, performance and all those bugs... there are no excuses for that... the shattering, the lag, screen freeze, the bad modem and connectivity, the poor battery life, the crashes, etc... They can do whatever they do with "AI", but is it really what you will be using in your daily routine? I want a phone that will respond quick and be as reliable as it can be... Bugs are still there, I even got network connectivty issues on this pixel 8 pro that I never had before... to annoy me even more... so that was the trigger to jump and try the iphone. Well, I find the iphone more confortable or logical when used with my left hand instead with my right hand... but it works well and it solved 90% of the issues i had with android. Also this time around, photography on the iphone looks amazing too... the 24MP HEIC format saves a lot of storage and the higher resolution really pays off. It is also quick, I never miss a shot, on pixel I usually missed a few shots here and there... so when I need it, its there ready. I found iOS a bit hard to get used to but after knowing the "secret" commands and navigation tricks, it becames a lot easier than android, to my surprise.

The review I was most waiting for
I think In Depth Tech Reviews did a thermal test with the S23 Ultra, Apple 15Pro Max and the Pixel 8 Pro beat the Apple 15 Pro Max in thermals so that part of this review isn't 100% accurate.
I still have a Pixel 5 as i love the compact size (small hands) but battery has declined and some pictures are slow to take. Will the 8 still have a better battery and worth the upgrade?
I also have the Pixel 5 and I love it
@@josephupton3601 you keeping it up until it dies? That's my debate currently.
I have the 5 and 8 it's comparable in size just the cámara band is the biggest thing. I love the 8 too.
Not really, battery is pretty bad considering it's around 4500mAh.
Can we expect a Pixel 9 review?
I would describe that as "damning with faint praise". It would be good if it was $200 cheaper but at that price why not buy the Iphone 15 which offers more or the the Pixel 7 which can be picked up for half the price.
how many major updates this phone will get?
I still think i fancy the Asus Zenfone 10 over this one
Wish it supported cdma
@@Jst4vdeos Yeah. Sucks that many networks still use it in the US. Hope we can transition away fully soon in the States.
@@Jst4vdeoswhat's CDMA lol. I'm in UK considering buying the Asus, pixel 8 or new Samsung next year. Can't decide
@@44Hogarth CDMA is the superior network standard for cellular providers but GSM is required by law in EU. About half the carriers in the US use the CDMA technology and the other half don't. So the GSM carriers and phones targeted for GSM are more compatible internationally, but CDMA performed better because it's a more advanced technology. Samsung and Apple provide both network bands in their phones since they sell to all markets. Asus doesn't and their device wouldn't work as well on the faster CDMA network for certain carriers in the US.
@@josiahbrown7258 GSM is the technologically inferior network standard, unfortunately it was widely adopted sooner and was recognized into law in the EU. It'll be hard to change it now to adopt the faster CDMA in the EU as most devices that aren't made by/for both markets will not support CDMA. Half the US uses GSM which is more compatible with the EU but less capable than CDMA.
I always enjoy looking at Sofia sights in your videos 👌🏻😍 Perfect review as alwyas, cheers!
I like this reviewer guy man y'all should keep him
One question I have is if this model suffers from reheating? How the Pixel 6 Pro?
6.1 inch will made a comfy in hand, also..the bunch of feature in it
I returned mine as the screen was so choppy and stuttering. Unbearable. Battery was poor.
Nice thing is i can pick one of these up in a year for like $350 or $400
I got it new for $484 from the Google store today

What is running in background, where's it connecting to and what data it's sending?
The main cons is the processor. The Exynos is meh. When will TSMC take over the production?

Hey, guys. Can you help me to decide which one is the best? Should I get Google Pixel 7 Pro or Google Pixel 8? I need your answers. Thank you!😊
google pixel 8 is newer, it has a better camera and new processor also the google pixel 7 pro build quality is bad

Pixel 8 but try to get the Pro

In a year this can go down to $499 for that 256gb variant
I'd buy when that's a reality unless the 8A hv 90hz oled with bigger battery
Just went from Motorola to this. So far so good!
I enjoyed this review will you do the for the 8pro too??
Android 14 has lossless audio for wired headphones
But only Asus and Sony will use it
So why do it 😐
for sony and asus customers i would have thought

They're the only ones with a flagship on the global market with a P2
I think the rest will only come back to P2 if Samsung does it,and the joke is done.
Don't forget about "Spatial audio" in Pixel phones, try turning it on.
@@Fantamaks001
Why do you think I use a Pixel?
Then again this comment is about the P2 on flagships and why lossless audio for headphones on a mobile without P2 which most are is kinda useless.
Interesting I traded in my Pixel 7 for the 8 during pre-order and got my Pixel 8 used it for about 11 days and I thought there's got to be something wrong with this phone as it's not getting anywhere near the battery life I see listed online with other owners of pixel 8 and so I went back to Best buy and said there's something wrong with this phone and so they took it and they ordered me another Pixel 8 that I should should get November 9th but maybe there was nothing wrong with that pixelate maybe that's just how bad the battery life is cuz at work I'm on data all the time so I wonder I guess the eight is just as bad as the seven when it comes to the modem in the battery life which would be a bummer cuz that's the reason I got rid of the seven.
So here's the question why does the pixel 8 pro get such good battery life it's got the same processor and modem Yes it has a bigger battery but it seems to be getting much better battery life than the 7 pro.
If you want you can disable 5g. It's not optimal but it should help with battery.
thare is problem with the phone data maybe update will fix this
The regular 8 beats the pro phone in all the battery tests I saw, which was only 2 lol 😂
Turn off adaptative connectivity, huge difference
@@dAwid-px1vd okay I'll give that a try
Disappointing battery life and charging speed. I could live with it if it was fast to charge like some of the Xiaomi phones.. The phone will be long past it's best days before the software updates cease. Good speakers and a decent camera though.
Ok but i I realy want the review of the Google pixel 8PRO plz.
How does camera compare to the 7?
where’s sound quality link? it would not hurt your video if you include it in the video itself rather than saying the link is in description. and there’s no ducking link in the description. 🤦🏻♂️
Is a excellent phone. It's simple
how do you afford these phones ? are you from singapore / tiwan living in finland /sweden ?

7 years os updates, wow
Cut the background noise music; it’s annoying takes away from the content you’re trying to convey
3 years in a row tensor has low performance , heating and high power consumption.....
When I get the phone do you come with it?! ❤😂
I want to ask you, the google pixel can dual apps ? But not social media , thanks for answer
is it water resistant ?
Yes, IP 68
there is no option to take 50mp clicks.. though they say 50 mp
I hate the tiny incremental upgrades compared to last generation Pixel phones. I'll stick with my Pixel 6a for now.
Well that was a long time to say nothing. Thanks.
love this phone
you need a better camera, good video though!
i see that pixel 8 front cam is an ultra wide camera
Only problem is the network issue and colors of this year
Have you done a speed test with 2.4g wifi???
Pixel 8 is not compatible with 801.11 bgn 2.4g wifi, only with 801.11 ax 2.4g wifi...5g wifi there is no problems....
I am only getting 2mbps download speed with b/g/n enabled!!!! Sadly, my smarthome devices can't connect to ax only 2.4g wifi!!! So basically I am screwed....and public wifi is mostly 2.4g bgn!!!!
midrange phone with premium flagship price.
Pixel 8 should be marketed, first as a personnal day to day assistant and then as a smartphones with AI Cameras features.
Design is better but Google need to make all Pixel without glossy back.
Nice pictures of Bulgaria
too many bugs to be considered a good phone... it is a shame that android a project on which is part of google, to have such bad optimization, performance and all those bugs... there are no excuses for that... the shattering, the lag, screen freeze, the bad modem and connectivity, the poor battery life, the crashes, etc... They can do whatever they do with "AI", but is it really what you will be using in your daily routine? I want a phone that will respond quick and be as reliable as it can be... I am sending my pixel 8 pro back... and I'll go for something else this year.
Strange as I have none of those problems
@@Altoseb I sent back my pixel 8 pro and I bought my first iphone, the iPhone 15 pro max. I can already tell you that in terms of app optimization and overall os performance it’s miles ahead of android. And the best part there no webviwers and battery holds well and no page loads on infinite loops like it kept happening to me on all pixels I had. And google apps work faster and better , ironic right?
@@ganbly I also bought a 15 Pro Max last week and sent it back as it was too large and heavy for me. I will say though that iOS is tight as hell and very smooth but there were a few niggles that annoyed me about it for example having the swipe bar so close to the bezel / lip of the protective case. Also not being able to install an ad blocker in chrome.
no system is perfect and that's life@@Altoseb, but I have been an android user all my life never understanding the fuzz about iphone and apple, well, I am still using a windows pc, a google nest hub and so on... but pixel phones were really nice in terms of assistant features and camera hdr, easy to snap... but, the big but... it was slow, so i kept buying the newest "pro" model from google expecting the performance would improve, that apps would crash less, that hte new android would get rid of the annoying and crippled webviewer experience, that the search would be improved, that I wouldnt be stuck in that circular loop animation and waste all my time when there would be network issues, that my posts would be published when I click on the submit button...and year after year, the camera was slighty improved but performance wise, its sitll as good as my pixel 3 xl... and its a pitty.
Change the speaker testing song pls.
If the battery life was good, it would be an easier purchase. Unfortunately it's still poor.
also compatible with esim, and better than Xiaomi Redmi 13C 4G LTE
The phone doesn't feel premium and mid of the screen feels hollow when you typing, unbelievable annoying, the whole screen doesn't feel like is made of glass at all but more like hard plastic. This phone also suffer from scrolling lag , sometimes a full 2 seconds lag

I think Google should take a OnePlus approach: One flagship per year.
But you're stuck with that tiny unmovable clock on the home screen plus the Google search bar can't be moved. When I pay hundreds for a phone, it becomes my property but this phone would never feel like my property because Google want to control

Pixel 8 or Nothing Phone 2?
Nothing Phone 2, I have pixel 8. It heats a lot sometimes, Snapdragon 8 gen 1 on Nothing 2 is super optimized.
Nothing Phone 2.It's the better all round phone.
