How to adjust the preload and my review. PLEASE SUBSCRIBE
******It has been brought to my attention that if you jack up the back wheel, it will take the pressure off of the preload and make it much easier to adjust. Try it and let me know!*******

Awesome video!
Pro tip: if somebody doesn’t have the extra muscle to help them, a longer ratchet bar or even a pipe on the end to extend the length with reduce the amount of work required. “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.” -Archimedes. (Or lean weight across seat to pre-compress spring ie doing it from the other side.
Ha that is what my son does, when working sometimes on his 240. Definitely helps👍🏾
Great tip! And great quote! This is what I love, everyone comments and gives great suggestions to help other subs figure out ways to do the project better. A few posted that if you jack up the back tire, it takes the pressure off of the pre load and makes the job easier. So cool!
Just did it on mine, will test drive this afternoon, thank you so much!
My absolute pleasure!
I did that to both of our Rykers. We needed to because of our fat butts. It really did make a big difference. Thanks for showing everyone how its done. 🙏👍
Fat butts! lol! Hope you are both doing well!
It's much easier when you put a jack under the the swingarm and take the weight off the shock. That's how the dealership does it. Definitely put a towel or something on that swingarm when adjusting to avoid scratching that crinkle paint. Good video Beth
Thanks for the info. I just added that to the description section of the video. GREAT TIP!
I did mine awhile ago. Definitely feel the difference. I did mine from the other side of the bike. A pulling up motion towards me worked better.
Great tip, thanks for posting !
I believe it was @Thrillhousemoto that changed his to #4. I just saw him mention that in a video yesterday. And I said I am going to do this since I also have a 600. But I need to get the tool. And as a massage therapist yes leverage is key, lunge is key. Awesome video
It does make a nice difference. I hope you will like it. Let me know.
Actually if you put a jack under the center of the body of the motorcycle the swingarm will open up and take pressure off the shock and they’ll be more room for adjustment.🦿That was a fun video Beth😉👍🏻✨
Great tip! I added it to the description of the video. Thanks so much!
Adjusted my preload yesterday.. couldn't find the tool, didn't want to wait on shipping so I made one from a piece of leaf spring steel, clam shelled it open, set her on 5...much better ride OMG
Nice work! That's impressive David....crazy the difference right!?
I was gonna say jacking up the rear would have made this easier, but you found that out lol. It seems like the Spyders/Rykers like a stiffer suspension setup.
Great fun day and ride with Beth, Zia from the night RYKER and Brian from the gym 😂
Yes it was!
Haha.
Just tried position 3 this morning, think it makes a huge difference! Great video and appreciate the link to the tools to do it.
My absolute pleasure! Glad it helped!
Hi ...guys it’s always so kool to watch you all on video talking about the Rykers .. having fun ... Be safe drive safe .. God Bless you all
Thank you! You too! Yes it was super fun!
Ouch! The HD shirt on a Honda rider. My aching heart! Haha! I'm still buying Ryker because of you.
Lol!! Thanks so much for watching Donnie. Cheers and ride safe!
Thank you! I finally just adjusted the shocks on Tracy’s bike while we were watching this video. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Alex, did Tracy notice a difference?
@@RykerRydes Tracy absolutely noticed a difference. She said it feels like a whole new ride.
I know, right?! That's awesome!!
Shes really gonna be able to tell the difference with no weight🤣🤣🤣 #wasteoftime... love it 🤣🤣❤❤❤ great vid
Thanks so much! We had a great time with this one!
Just ordered mt elka shocks front and back for my f3 hope I like them stage 2
Let us know what you think. I have them on my Ryker and love them.
@@RykerRydes will do!
That's interesting a little adjustment and you get a better ride.
You should put a link to that spanner tool head. It is very hard to find that thing.
There is a link in the description of the video.
Your hair looks very nice Beth ✨✅ I just bought the tool and adjusted my shock I was bottoming out to easy👍🏻
Thank you. ☺️
Yup I did this to mine and what a difference it was🎉
Awesome! Thanks for watching.
Im getting the 2Up spring installed on my 900 because I want to do 2UP riding and I am already a big guy (280 pounds) so I hope I can get me and my wife on my ryker without any issues.
It’s going to be tight. Be careful not to bottom out. Watch my 2up riding video.
How do you go from 5 back down? Do you continue in the same direction and go 5 to 1 or do you go in reverse 5 - 4 - 3 - 2- 1? Just asking so that I can adjust when I have a passenger and then adjust back down when it's just me. Thanks for all you do!
Hi Evan, you would go in the opposite direction to adjust the preload.
Loved this video. 04:14 onwards was funny, muscles. Tummy club Lol. So how amazing did the ride become after the adjustment? I think if you have an Ace everyone should adjust their rear suspension accordingly for a better ride.
I love how we feed off each other! Too fun! I just wish we all lived closer!
We should start our own RUclips sitcom... that would be a first lol
That would be so awesome!! Everyone really enjoyed it, so much more fun with you guys in it!
I like the idea.
Does this increase the Ryker's load capacity upwards from 187kg?
You’ll really have to look in your owners manual for the specifics on that.
I see you was at that Houston Whap!!!!
It was so amazing! I hope to see you at one of the rallies!
I've adjusted mine as well but haven't had the chance to ride it yet. Still awfully chilly here in central Ohio.
After you’re ride it let me know your thoughts! Stay warm!
Great job like always with the shock information,
Thanks 👍
I din'td notice you loosening/backing off the top lock ring. Basically acts like lock nut does to prevent movement of lower adjustment ring.
Hmm. Didn’t think it was necessary. I will look again. Ty
😂😂😂 That was awesome. Informative and funny at the same time. Lots of joking around. Spot on. Ryde Safe Lil Sis 🙏🏻😎🏴
Glad you enjoyed it bro! It was so fun! Videos are aways better with other people in it. Miss you!
Beth which level # did you adjust the rear suspension spring? And why?
I ended up adjusting it to the tightest it can get. Why? Just for a different ride feel. No other reason.
Any regrets? Big difference from level 1 ?
Thanks!
No problem! My pleasure!!
So, is tightening the shocks good only to prevent bottoming out, or will it help the overall "squiggly" feeling of the ride? I feel like my front end squiggles a lot during a ride.
The shock adjusters are really meant for heavy riders or those riding with a passenger. First thing, check your tire pressure. If they are correct, then you may want to invest in a Baja Ron (anti) Sway bar. I sell them on my etsy site if you are interested.
Where did you get the lights
Which lights? The fender lights are from Slingmods. I am usually much quicker at replying!!! Been crazy busy building my new website: www.RykerRydes.com check it out.
Классная футболка.
Большое спасибо. Я ценю, что вы смотрите мои видео.
Great job ON the vlog Beth.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks again for your great vids
My absolute pleasure! Thank YOU for watching David!
Is the rally higher than the ace?
Yes, but not a whole lot
Pleas turn up your volume
Hi was wondering if one of your friends can show us how to install the two up spring on Ryker they are charging me arm and a leg ugh
Are you referring to the rear spring?
@@RykerRydes for the seat you know so it can hold better weight when you put the max mount and passenger seat please and thank you
Do you have a steering stabilizer on your ryker and if not what is your take on adding one? Also i learned from your videos to upgrade my swaybar links which i ordered.
I don’t have a steering stabilizer, but have heard good things. For me the Baja Ron sway bar and links does the trick.
So do you think it really helped in the long run? I just bought a Ryker and that rear end jars my teeth over any little or big bump.
I think it made a big difference. Worth experimenting with and see what works for you.
Great vid. You guys are crazy! Enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes it was fun to make too!
Will this help with a passenger?
It should help a little. Depends on the weight of the passenger. I don't ride 2 up, so not 100% sure.
I’m looking for the link to buy the spanned wrench? Can you please help me
Hi Becky, the link is posted in the description section of the video.
Does this work for the rally as well?
The Rally set up is slightly different but the pre load will adjust as well. PM me on Facebook if you need more details
On the rally, you just need to turn the red cap. Correct?
Yes and no. The red knob (damping) adjusts the shock (outside part) so you aren't bouncing around, whereas the spring adjustment that I did, adjusts the preload (the stiffness of the spring). They are 2 different things. But both are adjustable. Definitely consult with your manual.
Retired automotive engineer here, Changing the spring seat cam only changes the ride height and the distance to bottoming. It should only be increased if you have enough weight on board to cause bottoming, then it is most helpful. If you never bottom the shock, you are only changing ride height. Changing the rear ride height also reduces the effective caster in the front suspension, making steering lighter, but also reducing steering feedback and that is maybe what so many are talking about when they use the word "feel".
Very interesting. Thank you for your input, much appreciated.
Can you show How do you adjust the height of the bike?
Not sure what you mean, by "adjusting th height"? Do you mean jacking up the bike?
Isn't there a way to adjust the height of the Rally to give you more clearance underneath the bike?
No, not that I a familiar with. Sometimes if you replace the shocks, it will give you more clearance.
llove that seat,thank you.
Me too!
Where can I buy that particular tool?
Link please?
Hi there. The link is in the description section of the video. Thanks for watching!!
How did you paint your Ryker??
I d like to know😳
Everything blue on my bike is a wrap. No paint. Thanks for watching and subscribing.
Thank You!
You're welcome!
Did you go over some bumps to see how it feels?
Absolutely. It, oddly rides much better.
Beth what level did you put your rear suspension?
I turned it to the tightest possible notch. But it’s easy to play around with and just make it so it’s comfortable ride for you.
Fun episode.
Thanks so much. We had a great time!
Where’s your air hawk cushion that thing cost near $100?
I swap out between that and the bead rider. Sometimes I just go au natural.
Good eye!
Beth have you tried different mirrors?
Not yet, but I'd like to. Just trying to keep my handle bars clear.
You kind of have Beth - you have added stick on convex mirrors and rider scan mirror.
How do I know my level is at highest or tightest setting
At the lowest setting it will be a looser feeling ride and on the tighter setting it will feel stiffer.
@@RykerRydes can I look at the spring setting to see what level I’m on
@@RykerRydes I want to see your spring setting
You took your exhaust off?
Yup, it was too loud when I doing riding vlogs.
@@RykerRydes oh ok I was wondering 👍🏾.
First
LOl you are quick! Just loaded 1 minute ago! Awesome!
@@RykerRydes I know it I am 16 years old and i like to buy this moto when I got the money I'm from greece
main thing that keeps me off of this is lack of horsepower--90hp thats it a Yamaha zo9 847cc makes 115hp and may i add its a lot liter
Interesting point. You may want to test ride one. You will be shocked by the power the Ryker has.
These bikes are very locked down from the factory. with a custom tune we can get quite a bit more horsepower and torque.
that's strange she would need that much pre-load being small like she is.
Thanks!!! Lol
As a owner of a 2021 Ryker I purchased a specific Can Am part to adjust the coilover. If anyone is interested the part number is #529000059. I ordered mine from an authorized Can Am dealer’s parts dept.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
