Its actually advised that when using the bag as a tailpack you should unclip the straps from the D-rings on the back and flip them over the top to clip to the D-rings at the front-bottom of the bag opposite the first set. You could even potentially use the map bag/MOLLE webbed panel to strap them down to the front.
Very thorough and informative review👌
Thanks Dayne.
I've been looking for a backpack/tailbag for my bike as well for a weekend trip, and the 40L vs 20L numbers didn't mean anything to me either. Thank you for making a video on EXACTLY what I needed to know!
HAHA no problem. I know I don't know how many liters my junk is, so its good to know how much fits in each.
Thank you for your review. Glad you like the bags.
Thank you!!!
Hey guys, do you have a distributor here in South East Asia or I just need to order the bags online from an Intl' vendor?
Thanks so much for taking the time to show what each held and how they attach to the bike!
Wow. This review was...like...everything I needed to know. Great content, thank you! Seeing you fit it to your cruiser made me confident that it'll be a breeze for my dual sport. I'll be picking up a 20L very soon.
Glad it was helpful! Ride safe!!
Awesome video, just bought the 40L, you really feel that the guys at Nelson Rigg put some heart in it.
Thank you Juan Ramón Sánchez
Great job of describing the bags. Made my decision easy. Thanks again 👍
Thank you for the great product coverage! Strongly considering the 20L.
They really are great bags.
Gears & Gadgets Got it and love it even works on my WR250R
I don't know if this company knows it or not but they just made the perfect all-around camping/fishing/hiking / motorcycle / overlanding bag
I bought both last year. I'm headed to Turkey in August, and both sizes fit Carry-On and Personal Item dimensions for many airlines. Keepin' it cheap and utilitarian in the long haul!
Yeah they are great utilitarian bags.
Nice, I wish I had seen this before I bought the HD tail bag. Thank you.
I just purchased the 30L ... I'll be using it for the 1st time on Thursday heading from NJ to Maryland .
Tks pretty good video I definitely get the 20L for my dual sport
thanks. the 20L will certainly be good for most people.
Late to this review but thank you. This was epic!!!
great video helped alot!
Oh Snap, When you went double up I said hell yes!
They have been awesome still to this date.
How's the roll up enclosure holding up? I read that the material where the folding action occurs cracks after a short period of time. Has this happened to you?
It hasn't happened to me but I also don't use them a TON but when I do use them, the go the distance so I haven't had any issues but I am also not the person who is using these on an every weekend occasion.
Does your bag allow you to unclip the shoulder straps at the bottom, fold it over to the front, and clip the shoulder straps to the two plastic rings on the bottom front of the bag? Mine does not allow this and it's demonstrated in the Revzilla review for this bag. It's supposed to keep the shoulder straps from dangling while the bag is mounted to a motorcycle
They definitely need a 30/35l I think as this is the most common backpack of all. 40 is just a wee bit too big, and 20 is too small.
Because of this, I'm probably going to have to go with the Kriega US30. Otherwise I'd have definitely gone with the Nelson.
I would agree with the 35L but I will say the 40 does roll up pretty good and I wouldn’t say NOT to buy it because its too big for that reason.
Great review. I am planning a 4 day trip doing the Lake Michigan circle tour and I am looking at bag/luggage options for my Yamaha MT07. Yamaha rear bracket and tail bag or side bags will set me back around $400 not to mention permanently mounting something to my bike that I would probably not use all the time. These bags seem like the best solution. Seeing how much real life stuff you were able to pack was great. Leaning toward the 20l but I’m just wondering if the 40l would be a better deal. Only a difference in price of $13 on amazon. Do you think with another roll or 2 of the top on the 40l you would be close to the size of a fully packed 20l? If i can get the size down on the 40l i think it would be better to have more bag than have to leave something at home with the 20l.?
Thanks Mark. I have used these Nelson Rigg bags frequently.
Hi! I've got my heart set on buying this bag, but I cant decide on which size to buy. I'd definitely be using this bag for comminuting and possibly some long hauls, so it would make sense to get the 40L. But I'd also like to get away with using the bag on hiking trips. stand about 5'9", so I'm just worried about the size of the 40L. Also, how comfortable is it to where it as a backpack?
if you are really on the fence I would go bigger. it can be rolled down smaller.
And if it is heavier, you'll only get in a better shape ;)
I'm planning to buy one for the same exact reasons (commuting + camping/hike) and I will go with the 40L to take in account the following items:
-Sleeping Bag
-Tarp
-3L of water
-Food
-MSR stove & ustensils
-pair of socks
And then have a bit of spare room. But if you really care about weight, I would go with an hiking backpack with a rain cover and strap it with bungee cords to your bike.
The only downside with this backpack is that there is pocket near the back for a water bladder.
If you roll your clothes, you can fit even more!
true.
which pocket is ideal for a hydration bladder? I haven't been able to find anyone using one with a hydration pack.
Probably none. I wouldnt want to put a hydration bladder in with all of my belongings. Seems like a recipe for wet clothes.
Hi,Why you not used your bike bags?
uweyaa I usually do but in the winter I ride with a heavy jacket under my riding jacket which is too big to pack away in my saddle bags. Also, at times I need to carry additional stuff for work and it’s just too much. One saddle bag is already dedicated to carrying tools, a bike cover, and air pump. The other bag I carry my camera gear and lunch bag which takes up that one.

Ugh. Looks like the 101 behind you. I cringe when I look back at AZ.
MalumInSe why is that?
@@GearsGadgets literally just my own hatred for AZ. No hate on anyone who lives there. Grew up out there. Cant hardly stand to look at it. Live in central tx now. Just me throwing shade haha
