Chris I have the same muffler on my Himalayan so had to build and extension on the tail pipe because it was burning a hole in the bottom of the pannier bag . Worked out real well.
I've had all Nelson-riggs dry bags for about a year. still have all the older bags put up . My dry bags don't have the air flow valve but still stay dry. I have the 25,top of my luggage rack side dry bags with inserts two of the tens carries all my things i need. GREAT Bags. done some TAT and several smaller trips. I'm trying to put together a group to ride RMATV 1450 mile Idaho bdr. Looking to do this August 2022

I'd say any racks would work. We all 3 have a different model, if not a different brand as well, and the bags can be strapped on well to each. Thanks for the question.
I just received my 40 liter dry bag and two 10 liter roll bags. The bags and G straps all look to be excellent quality. My only bit of disappointment is the top straps on the 40 l , do not use quick release buckles. Next on my list are the panniers. Sure wish #NelsonRigg would hook me up.😉
I'm glad you love your new bags! Yup, there are always going to be personal preferences that aren't exactly perfect on any luggage. But overall, I think NR hit it out of the park with this kit!!!

Love the review guys. And this stuff looks great. Chris, like you, I am a fan of magnetic tank bags on my 500X. (Especially since a friend gave it to me free!) And never liked the straps hanging down. But this looks like a great set up, I may try this in the future when I replace my bag. I am hoping they redo their Trails End bag, and make it in to a Hurricane version, and water proof instead of the current version where you need a cover to make it 100% waterproof! With the Cb500x any issues with the exhaust being too close to the bag? I have the Scorpion exhaust on mine and my current wolfman bags ride down to the giant loop heat shield. Haven’t burnt yet, but always worried, but wanting more room so considering these bags.
I love my CB500X as well. Haven't had a single problem with the bags touching the exhaust. But I do have a short Akrapovic aftermarket exhaust. Great gear. Just received the panniers, 30 liter pack, and a couple 10 liter bags. Undecided on a tank bag at this point. Would love to see the lite trails end bag in the same material as the Hurricane. Initial impressions, quality is a bargain for the price. Only complaint thus far is the elastic strap keepers, hate those things. Coming from a Mosko Moto R80 I’m missing the Velcro keepers. I’ll add those myself, but would be a nice update to the luggage. Super impressed!

Great comment, Jesse. Good to hear you like your gear! Also good suggestion on the strap keepers. I'm not sure I've come across anything that is perfect yet but I double the NR straps back and forth under the elastic and it works pretty good.
@@MotoPhotoAdventures I had the small Hurricane last summer. It survived 10 days of rain on the TAT, bone dry. But it’s too small for my needs, and the larger Models just too big. The size and shape of the lite trails end is perfect. I may just go that way and use the rain cover as needed.
I bought a set of the Hurricane panniers last week based on your MABDR videos. I hadn’t even seen this one yet! I’d been wanting soft luggage instead of my huge aluminum panniers for my Alaska trip I have planned for this June. I’ve installed them but haven’t ridden with them yet. How do you think they do with an exhaust that terminates before the back of the bags? I have a 2016 1200GS and the exhaust tip is probably 8-12” forward of the back edge of the right bag. Great videos and I’ve gotten some good ideas for my MABDR run we are doing in April. A little shakedown run before our Alaska outing.
Hi Chris! I'm glad you enjoyed the MABDR series, and found this video. I have found these bags to be EXTREMELY durable...surviving falls, dirt, mud, pouring rain, etc. Obviously, the bags are made out of waterproof tarpaulin...which "can" melt if enough heat gets to them. I'd have to look at your setup more closely. But I'd recommend attaching a heat-shield to your exhaust to keep the bags from resting right up against it. Companies like AltRider make really good ones. Although, since you mentioned that you also had aluminum panniers, I'm assuming you're attaching these Hurricane bags to a luggage rack of some sort. Have you considered using a quick-release bracket?!? I currently have my Hurricane panniers strapped to a Giant Loop quick-release plate. Here's a video I did about it: ruclips.net/video/h8DH0ZjaQJA/видео.htmlsi=ogcOWqFt0CrqXMqX. I bouth this plate a while back. But I understand Nelson Rigg now makes their own similar quick-release plate. This will not only make swapping from hard cases to soft bags super easy and efficient...but it will also provide a layer of protection between the hot exhause and the bag. I hope this helps!

Do you gentle have 8 to 5 jobs or is the channel you full time job? I'm wondering if you guys come out west and do BDR? Backcountry discovery routes in the Intermountain west are a ball.
Hi Matt! We do have full-time jobs...though not 8-5 per se. We're all full-time professional photographers. Well...Jason is also a professional videographer...but same thing. Anyway, we typically work our butts off for several months in a row...while planning our next big adventure...then take a couple weeks off to go have some fun! (When the wives give us permission, of course.) 🙂 Check out our playlists. We did the entire TAT, coast to coast, a couple years ago. And we just finished the MABDR. Episode 1 is out, 2 is coming soon. We would LOVE to do more BDRs, the Continental Divide, etc. But hauling the bikes out west does take away from actual riding time. So we've done more on the east coast lately. Anyway, we would LOVE to come out west more if we could. Maybe you can help us by sharing our videos and promoting the channel? If this RUclips thing takes off...we could take more time off from our regular jobs and do more riding!!!

Hi jb5672! Jason is right, we all have different racks. Mine happen to be the Givi PL1121CAM racks. But the Nelson Rigg bags work on all of them.

Forget the air flow, follow the water flow...Remember these are 'Dry' Bags. I you face them into the rain you can force water through the seals.
