    Oh yeah the rotopax behind the luggage feature is a long distance ADV bikers dream. Both extra fuel and no sacrificing luggage space. Game changer!!!

      100% This allows for the addition of Gas and Water (one on each side) for multiple days out and away from either of those two precious liquids. We have tested fueling with a full saddlebag too! Just detach it... lift it and pour. No need to remove the saddlebags nor the Rotopax!

    Great news, been waiting for these, just hope they are compatible with the stock pannier racks on the HD Pan America which are made by SW MOTECH. Thanks!!

    • @Nelsonriggusa
      @Nelsonriggusa  7 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your comment. Our Quick Release Plates fit only ROUND pannier Racks 15mm to 20mm in diameter. The SW-Motech rack is not round and our brackets will not attach to those racks. We have discussed making a bracket specific to the SW-Motech racks, but there is nothing actively in the works as of now.

    Too cool the option of using a rotopax as well as the bag on the same mount solves the problem
    of where to strap the water! Water on the exhaust side, fuel on the other. Good job folks

    Very impressive. I expected them to work extremely well with the Nelson Rigg Hurricane bags, and from the look of all those cutouts, they will likely attach well to any set of bags.
    It looks simple to adjust the attachment points, which is important as many of us have trouble stopping at just ONE bike and move our bags between them. - Frank

      Thank you for your comments Frank. Pretty much any typical pannier rack that has hoops made of round bar will work. It works on some crazy ones too... Thanks for your support.

    I have both a Yamaha T700 with Tusk racks and a new BMW GSA with OEM offset racks and needed a plate that could fit both. This product seems like a great solution. However, I'm worried about damaging my new GSA's OEM racks because the two tightening wing bolts could potentially dig into the surface finish when securing the mounts. While I understand the necessity of the bolts, I'm hesitant about the potential for damage. While the Tusk racks pose no problem as half the finish is already worn off, marring up a brand new set of OEM GSA racks is more concerning.

    • @Robert-jp8gq
      @Robert-jp8gq 4 месяца назад +2

      I completely understand! It sounds like you have a Yamaha T700 for thrashing around off-road and prefer to use your new BMW primarily for road trips. I'm in a very similar situation. Have you considered purchasing a third lower mounting bracket and attaching it to the vertical portion of your rack? Not sure if it would work, but might provide a cleaner solution than screwing a raw bolt into the surface of your street bike rack. You could also use a protective wrap on your street rack mount interface.

    • @glennd3618

      @@Robert-jp8gq Exactly! I use my GSA as a street bike - 3rd lower mounting bracket mount vertically sounds like a great solution! Nelson Rigg, would this work?

    • @Robert-jp8gq
      @Robert-jp8gq 4 месяца назад +2

      @@glennd3618 Sorry... just looked at the video again, doesn't look like that NR plate will accommodate a third mounting bracket clamp used to attach the vertical portion of your rack. I think Toratech might have a solution... but that is crazy money!!! Please let me know if you come up with anything - Thanks!

    • @Nelsonriggusa
      @Nelsonriggusa  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you for your support. The GSA racks if silver stainless steel will not show marks nor rust as they are bare metal. The racks we have tested still look great. If you have the new black racks, they will show wear with use.

    • @Nelsonriggusa
      @Nelsonriggusa  4 месяца назад +1

      @glennd3618 you will not need a third mounting foot. In the case of the GSA racks, you can position the feet to the outsides of the OEM pannier tabs and that will "lock the plate in place" and will keep it from sliding forward and backwards, the main reason for the locating screws on a rack with just a bar.

    I just bought this and initial impression is the high quality of the materials. A fantastic solution that I have been looking for. However, I have a gripe, more of a concern. The edges of the cutouts seem a little sharp and I am concerned that straps will end up getting damaged over time especially the straps that are holding the weight on the top. It could be a simple solution with getting your supplier to clean up the edges but that is some added cost. Keep innovating NR!

    • @Nelsonriggusa
      @Nelsonriggusa  4 месяца назад

      Thank you for your message @LuisLopez-ut6xz All of the slots in the plates do go though a rounding process to take off any rough and 90 degree square edges. Maybe it needs to be more? We will look into that. Of the close to 15k miles we have put on our rack with the Hurricane saddlebgs mounted, the straps look great. If the straps are tight, they don't move and no chafing is involved. At least that is what we have found. If you run into an issue, please reach out and let us know! Thank you for your support. We appreciate you. - Nelson Rigg

    Is the installation on the Sierra bags different, since they use velcro straps on the top instead of the tension buckles?

    • @Nelsonriggusa
      @Nelsonriggusa  4 месяца назад

      Thank you for your inquiry! Yes, the Sierra Saddlebags require a T-strap to work with the Quick Release Plate. Not square... Happy Trails is the only manufacturer that makes square racks unfortunately. If there is enough demand, we could work on a Happy Trails Solution.

    I would like to know how the "straps" behind the aluminum plate protect themselves from the heat of the muffler? I would have the impression that they could melt in this heat? Otherwise, congratulations, it seems like a wonderful product!

    • @Nelsonriggusa
      @Nelsonriggusa  6 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you for watching! The plate sits about 3/4" off the pannier rack. The straps are on the on he plate which is on the outside of the rack, thus keeping them far enough from any muffler that we have tested.

    I have the saddlebags in a Versys 300, one of them started to burn because of the exhaust gas (not because of contact but hot gas), can this help avoiding the burning?, any recommendations to repair my saddlebag?, thanks

    • @Nelsonriggusa
      @Nelsonriggusa  Месяц назад

      Thanks for sharing. Many Versys riders use our products without issue. Which specific bags are you running? Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? The easiest fix is to take your bike to any muffler shop. They can weld on a tip that will make the exhaust gasses flow away from the bags. We have done that on a couple of our bikes. On the BMW R1250GS the tubes can be heated and bent, easy fix. There might be an easy fix a muffler shop can do for your bike too. Just need to make sure the gasses are not hitting the bags at full throttle.

    Have the hurricane bags and super happy with them and like the quick release plate option. Is there an option to order a second quick release latch so I can have 2 per side? I’d worry about corrugations and would like redundancy for piece of mind ( I haven’t seen them in person yet here in Australia)

    I'm sorry to say but those pannniers don't seem to be all that good. The installation is a little complicated and those two bolts at the bottom that have to be tightened are extremely uncreative and efficient. I think they could do something much better than that product and also change a color that doesn't sell at all, Yellow is not a good color. I hope it goes well for you.

      I don’t love the wing nut bolts, but they do work extremely well. The bags and plates are super durable so far, and the bags especially are absurdly good for the price point. I’ve had dozens of off road spills and they haven’t torn or even shown visible damage.
