    great comparison Mark.... excellent demo of the effect different size tires will have on chassis downforce.... thanks for sharing....

    Thx for showing the ACTUAL insertion into the tire diameter tool, wondered if it should be snug or loose etc. I gotta get one, especially when all my tires fell into a generic box...

      Oh you definitely need a tire gauge, I use mine almost daily...lol

      Check out HCS on the tire size gauge should be snug.

    I've also noticed sometimes the crown gear touches the track before the chassis if you go to low..

    • @marksslotcargarage
      @marksslotcargarage  9 месяцев назад +1

      I have not gone that low yet to have the crown gear touch...lol

      Using the same tire, By increasing wheel diameter you can make the tire stiffness go up. Imo

    • @marksslotcargarage
      @marksslotcargarage  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@kenneely7899 Yes, increasing the wheel diameter will change the tire size and also stiffness...thx.

    Good stuff, thank you. Very interesting. I know you can’t lower MR-1 chassis very much, cuz the crown will drag. MR-1 chassis run low anyway. Have a good one, SCFL!

    Tires and compounds of tires is a huge difference… larger tires softer tires more contact patch smaller tires harder compound can have same down force .. tire size stretched on bigger hub can make it “harder” … once you find the combo it’s a crazy difference
    I run a tyco stock class locally and run .422 rear and .355 front I can go down to .418 rear but I like a little more coast for the oval we race

    • @marksslotcargarage
      @marksslotcargarage  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah there are a lot of combinations to test out, good point on the different compounds, I should have mentioned that. Guys who race know all about it. Thanks for stopping by.

      @@marksslotcargarage ye I like a m1 compound from viper and size or so bigger rather then smaller and harder if that makes sense it also depends on track surface when it comes to compound plastic track will react differently them pvc tracks

    • @marksslotcargarage
      @marksslotcargarage  9 месяцев назад +1

      M1 compound was good on my plastic AFX track, and I still use them on my stock VSPEC cars but I prefer a firmer tire for anything above Pro4 on my Viper routed track.

    • @clnfreakone8486
      @clnfreakone8486 9 месяцев назад

      @@marksslotcargarage I agree… I use the firmer ones on my higher down force cars except for my drag race built so I have more contact and hook up in drag racing

    I was debating on trying different tire sizes to get the Alfa Romeo body to fit better. One of the possible trade offs I thought about was the car scraping the rails.

    • @marksslotcargarage
      @marksslotcargarage  9 месяцев назад

      That is definitely a trade off, you can go too low.

    Where did you get your tire gauge/sizer? I have been looking for one but cannot find one. I have a cigar sizer that looks like yours but in measures in rings lol.

    Great video,I think if I ever get to racing competitively(I will someday)I'll review this video to make the right decision. Right now on my Vipers and Tycos I'm going big,fat,cool looking,ha. With .265 single flanged rims from Hardan Creek with .452 radius super tires made to fit a Tyco rim from Super tire guy🥸

      Thanks! Yeah on routed club tracks and my Viper track getting as low as you can go is the name of the game for competitive racing.
