Sorry, I couldn't catch your name. I hope you answer questions. I want to do a Skylake build and I want to boot Windows 10 from a Samsung 950 Pro and I want to use it properly, i.e. M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x4 using the new NVMe protocol. Other mobo makers are calling it Ultra M.2. Don't want AHCI, don't want PCI-e 2.0, don't want SATA, don't want x2 or any other permutation. I could do it in an instant with an ASRock Extreme4 or Extreme7 (with or without the +), but I like the quality of Asus. Question, will this mobo boot win10 at the above mentioned gen 3 x4 using NVMe? So many guys are getting burnt because this drive will work at gen2, x2 and AHCI and all of JJ's videos on PCDIY totally avoid mentioning this drive. In fact I think they totally sold out to the Intel 750 U.2 NVMe. Shoot, their mITX Z170 doesn't even have an M.2 connector! Thanks.
Please, help, people who have Asus z170-A or similar Asus board. Can this board control 3 pin fans????? For example MSI g43 can do it, just set constant fan speed in percentage (100%-90%-80%-70%...) even if it's a 3 pin fan! Thank you!
+CanisLupis138 No problem, in terms of price and the excellent reviews it got from literally all the major reviewers I don't think you can go wrong. Enjoy it :)
Who uses cm? Only like the whole world except the US?? No it's actually mm. But I used cm. Ask yourself why american scientists and engineers uses the metric system instead of the imperial system. Be my guest and search for m.2 cards in inches. LOL
Whatever floats your brick. =P Inches are used for a lot of things because it's a standard when it comes to certain things. But M.2 cards are named 2080 and 2060 and so on because that's the width and length of the cards in mm.
I'm in the process of learning all about computers as well - a subject that I was not afforded the luxury of learning about when I was a bit younger. Don't be bothered by guys getting after you for not knowing. You have to start somewhere. The fact of the matter was that you asked the question when in the presence of knowledgeable people. However ignorant the question may have been, and I've asked some as well, it was a good place to look for an answer and you should be applauded and not shunned for it. I feel you deserve an apology from George David, but you are unlikely going to get one.
part of the learning curve can be asking questions. You are intolerant of others' ignorance. I get it. But why go out of your way to write a negative comment. You could have just ignored it. As someone once said "is fucking easy".
This gen of asus motherboards looks so much nicer than the last two!
This looks awesome but i want a Skylake ITX board :P my next upgrades i want to build into sff case for ease of transportation.

Does the panel look brown? I like the overall looks but am not sure why some asus boards seem to use a brown board over a black board.
+Tim Maxey From what it looks like you only get a black board from Pro onwards.
Is the intro rev sound from some BMW car?
Would this be compatible with a FTW DT 1070? I new to computers and building my own
This mobo is compatible with all GPU's. I've personally used it with GTX 1080, GTX 1070 & GTX 1050 Ti.
Does it have bluetooth?
sorry for my bad english, this mother board fit to corsair 540?plss answer me,im a bigner this, thanks
Yes it will
Would I benefit from getting a MSI Z170A Gaming M5 over this?
what did you decide? I'm in the same boat
+CanisLupis138 Never went through with the build but would most probably have taken the Asus Z170 A
+Jaco Rossouw that's what I'm leaning towards too, thanks for the response

Nice placing for M.2. And long 11 cm. =O
Progster0192 Who uses cm, its inches or nothing.
Who uses cm? Only like the whole world except the US?? No it's actually mm. But I used cm. Ask yourself why american scientists and engineers uses the metric system instead of the imperial system. Be my guest and search for m.2 cards in inches. LOL
Progster0192 actually I could care less about the rest of the world and the metric system. Inches, pounds as in weight and miles ftw.

is this also compatibility with 5th gen i5 or just the new 6th gen?
It has a socket 1151. So its not compatible because 5th gen uses 1150
+crazygrasshopper1234 No, this Board has a 1151 Socket, but 5th Generation uses the 2011-3 Socket
would this mb be compatible with a EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Ti?
im new to this...
seriously dude cut me some slack...
