    The latest BIOS has been flaky on mine, Overclock failures and reboot issues. Also the BIOS has been turning XMP off without notice.

    I feel like this guy is completely disappointed in this motherboard. Dude needs to chill hell out and appreciate that he probably got this board for free and it's an amazing piece of technology that many of us are buying as an upgrade.
    I just bought this board as an upgrade for my ASUS P7P55-LX I bought in 2010

    Whats the difference between this motherboard and the AR version?

    • @foshizzlegizingar
      @foshizzlegizingar 7 лет назад

      i have the AR version the only difference seems to be that the AR does NOT come with ports for dvi and vga for monitors, it only comes with hdmi and displayport. The z170A comes with dvi vga displayport and hdmi. However, none of this should be an issue considering the fact that youll probably have a graphics card for a motherboard like this where youre gonna be plugging in monitors anyways which is why i dont care about what ports the motherboard comes with

  • @conundrum765
    @conundrum765 7 лет назад

    I am concerned about installing the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 3 CPU Cooler onto this motherboard as the back of the motherboard has a small chip right above the cpu socket which may come into contact with the metal backplate. Please let me know about your view on this potential issue.

    Quick question concerning this board's PCI slot. I plan on buying this board and adding an old SoundBlaster Audigy 2 sound card in the PCI slot since I've never been fond of any on-board audio (except on really old computers with, say, built-in ISA audio chipsets... XD), but I'm concerned about the placement of the slot potentially blocking the fans on a graphics card. I plan on using a Radeon R9 390X, possibly a Sapphire Nitro model, and with the PCI slot's placement and somewhat large size of the Audigy 2, it makes me wonder if there's enough clearance between the two cards to prevent any airflow issues. Would there actually be any clearance issues between the Sapphire Nitro R9 390X and a SoundBlaster Audigy 2?

    • @xounarinarinari2067
      @xounarinarinari2067 8 лет назад

      +Ace9921 No, there should not be any issues blocking the fans. To be sure, check the measurements.

    • @Ace9921
      @Ace9921 8 лет назад

      +Rainbow Sheep Are you talking about the graphics card or the sound card? Keep in mind, the sound card is PLAIN PCI, not PCI Express and this board only has a single PCI slot, which means I either use the card or not (and the Audigy 2 is quite a large sound card).
      Though now that I think about it, since the only purpose I had in mind for the PCI slot was to plug in the Audigy 2 for audio mixing of another PCI Express x1 sound card, I might as well use the on-board audio instead since with the custom kX drivers, I do sometimes get audio stutter while listening to the audio input on the Audigy 2 (had this happen on both a Core 2 Duo E6420 computer and a Xeon E5-1603 computer) which I don't get with Realtek on-board audio, but every on-board audio chipset I've used has had problems where the Line In is off-balance (most of the time, the left channel is louder than the right channel). I don't know if newer Realtek chipsets fixed this or not, but the ones I've tried sure as hell can't get left/right audio balance right.
      On that note, would it be more desirable to get a motherboard with the ALC892 like this one or one with the ALC1150?

      +Sezer Çelik Hi there, what you are looking for is one that doesn't seem to be flimsy and carries your basic features such as this board (which I own). This board is pretty great for gaming. The I/O shield isn't that great compared to other's but this set is a basic one for what you need instead of what you want.

      edit:
      because i have a problem with the csgo menu
      i have about 15 fps on the main menu and a gtx970 & i7 6700k
      so i dont think the hardware is the problem
      i searched a bit on the internet and this seems to be the solution:
      the problem for me was that i stupidly put the GPU into the wrong pci express slot.. it has been in the pci express 2.0 slot until i randomly realized that i'm an idiot and i have to put it into the pci express 3.0 slot ;) check this for your system, i could bet some of you have done the same mistake :) and moving it into the 3.0 slot also highly increases your gpu performance for other games (which doesn't mean they dont run properly, i have played some months with my gpu in 2.0 slot games like warz, crysis smoothly)
      much words, short version: move gpu from pci express 2.0 slot into pci express 3.0 slot and enjoy smooth menu :P
      so i wanted to know if i even have a pci express 2.0 slot :D

    I have a question for you. I purchased one of these boards and it came with two DDR4 four Gig sticks of memory running at 3000 Mhz. I already have two DDR4 four Gig sticks of memory running at 2400 Mhz.
    Will these memory sticks work together? And if so will they run at 2400 Mhz? Or are they compatible at all?
    The 2400 Mhz runs at 1.2 volts, and the 3000 Mhz runs at 1.35 volts. I know it's an odd question, but I don't know a lot about these different types of memory.

    I am buying this for my first build. do I need to download drivers for this to work or is it plug and play? how do I install the drivers I'd it needs it? thanks for helping a newbie. :)

      Blazk0 you need the drivers go to the ASUS website and look up your motherboard then go to support (at least I think) and there should be a drivers tab and download pretty much everything then run them

      +Like Wow overclock is a* difficult and some time dangerous thing for your processor. If you don't understand if this motherboard is able to OC a processor you are likely not to have the right ''knowledge" to do it. Anyway it can. I'd choose a Devil's Canyon processor. i5 4690k or i7 4790k. You choose

      I choosed i5 6600k but now I need the right motherboard for overclocking my cpu like a type that handle the situation that I'm putting my cpu in

      +Like Wow Great processor! Basically you just need a Z-series socket-ed motherboard. As far as i know Asus is a great brand regard the OC features and the VRM are pretty good. Anyway, if it's one of your first experience OC'ing i suggest MSI: it's way more user-friendly. GIGABYTE is for users with a bit more experience

      +Khalid290 It pretty much has to be DDR3L which runs on lower voltages than regular DDR3 if you do not want to damage your skylake CPU. Skylake was not build for DDR3 voltages, if you use them they will significantly lower the life span of the cpu.
      Edit: And if you do not have DDR3L already, its better to go with the DDR4

      Jakub Paplham ok i have ddr3 rams will work fine with DDR3L motherboards if i bought new one ?? cause don't want waste my money to buy new ramn DDR4 with new DDR4 motherboards

    • @jpap676
      @jpap676 8 лет назад +1

      +Khalid290 DDR3L is a type or ram not motherboards. If you have DDR3 memory that you want to keep on using, dont buy skylake

    Hm, looking at this, i'm wondering if i got a defective/damaged board when i bought mine a few years ago. My GPU has failed, and need to remove it, but i don't see the latch at the end of the top pcie-16 slot on the top side, if i remember correctly, it was only on the underside, and i'm using a dual width card, not sure how i'm gonna get it out without destroying the board.

      while they're both great boards, within the same price range I'd pick this board. this board has a USB-C plug. Asus hardware is extremely reliable, and the optimization from Asus drivers is much greater.

    • @ndrewwb
      @ndrewwb 8 лет назад

      +Ander 109 I wouldn't say ASUS is reliable. My old A8V (939) failed, my P5N32-E SLI PLUS (LGA 775) failed, my M5A78LM-USB3 (AM3+) died from bad capacitors and my current M5A97 R 2.0 is also failing after 8 months. To be fair, they all took extreme stress, and they all ran great while they worked. I only buy from them for their competitive pricing :p

    • @diablerietandino1941
      @diablerietandino1941 8 лет назад +1

      +Nuno Fontainhas Not worth it for people still using things like Devil's canyon and what not, you won't see much of an improvement. For those building up a brand new system, it's a good buy. This is especially true if you're a gamer as some retailers have the i5 6600k at about 200 bucks.. AMD's zen cpus won't be out until the end of the year, so it remains to be seen what value/performance they will offer.
