Any reason the electric start reduction gear assembly would lock up? Cause the engine too stop. It happened too my 08 and I’m wondering what’s going on

Definitely the best video I’ve ever seen detail wise! One question, does it matter what way the steel plates get installed? I’ve heard one side has a sharp edge on it and one side is smooth? Can you clarify this. Thanks In advance!
Oem plates are like you said , just install them all the same ,sharp edge out,or smooth edge out, just don't mix em
