It would have been better for The Mandolorian to have ended at the finale of season 2; the goal is achieved, Grogu is with Luke and will be trained in the force. And it also held the message “What you want, and what’s for the best aren’t always the same thing. Sometimes you have to let go.” Which is a very somber and mature end.
I think that’s going to be the conclusion for me, it feels like the natural destination of the story.
Everything past that is Disney trying to keep this money boat sailing as is, because change is scary for them, they’d rather repeat the same thing over and over, than risk doing something new.

The whole point of Mando is that he's not supposed to have "so much character," but in S1 they really got a lot of character out of those small moments. That's what made the show cool. He's mysterious, he lands on a planet, and does a thing, then rides off into the sunset. Like a propper Western Movie hero.

    • @Tekaneable
      @Tekaneable Год назад +8

Not necessary, he started of as a "Man with no name" but since first episode his growth began, and we started to learn more about him, we saw him evolving, and learn what kind of man he is. Din is my favourite character in Disney SW. And I was hoping that the entire point of S3 will be for him to embrace his role as a leader, and master the Darksabre. I wouldn't mind more attention to other Mandalorians, but the focus should've ramain on him, and he should have character arc set for this season. At first he had to abandon his day-to-day lifestyle in order to protect something innocent, then he was set on journey in which he embraced his role as father figure, where he was constantly challenged on his beliefs. Bo-Katan is a fine character, she is mandalorian too but from completely different background, setting her up for him so they could find a common ground would be a great dynamic, the problem is, that too much focus was put on her, and Din was portrayed as just there. I don't understand why he wasn't allowed to see the Mythosaur, why he wasn't credited for providing land for fellow Mandalorians and why writers gave him that cringe speech about serving Bo-Katan when I never had impression that he was serving anyone. Cooperating? Yes, sure, he helps his friends, because he is loyal and honorable man. I don't see why he would make out of her, someone from a different tribe essentially his boss.
There is only one episode left, maybe I am naive in thinking that there will be a massive twist. But I guess I have to find out by myself. But I am frustrated with another bait and switch.

    • @straker454
      @straker454 Год назад +74

Bo Katan should have been an antagonist in season 3, blinded by her jealousy over Mando getting the Darksaber and forcing Mando to become the new Mandalorian leader by her anger and actions to reclaim it. Showing how someone's single minded, blind determination to lead can cause their downfall while keeping Mando in the lead. A stand alone Bo Katan series could have been all about her seeking redemption and seeking an honorable way to reclaim her rightful position.
But what the hell is character building when you can just jump past that like with Marvel going from classic storytelling to jump over that and go to modern trash in one phase!

Season 2 of Mando ended with such an intruiging set up for Season 3 for me. You had the Fundamentalist (Armourer), the Politician (Bo Katan) and the Pragmatist (Fett) all representing the extremes of Mandalorian culture. Then you have Din, who has been exposed to and managed to find merits (and flaws) in all 3 outlooks, plus he's found himself with a claim to be the defacto King of all Mandalorians, a position he doesn't really want. The Grogu/Godeon arc was resolved, season 3 should have been about Din trying to unify the various Mandalorian tribes whilst fending off Imperial Remnants and ever increasing 'interest' from the New Republic, who want to know why Mandalorians are suddenly gathering in ever increasing numbers.

Season 2 set Din up to be the owner of the Darksaber and the heir of the Mandalorian throne. It was highly speculated he would find and tame a Mythosaur, and one day reunite with a trained Grogu…
But season three came along and gave all that to Bo, while Din was reduced to a supportive bodyguard/lapdog character in his own series. Hell, Grogu is even seen frequently spending time with Bo rather than Mando. The only thing he really has left is the Beskar on his back… will they take that too in the finale?
The Mandalorian Season 3 is actually Bo Katan season 1. Either Jon and Dave lost their mojo, or Kathleen Kennedy forced her way again.

Bo is a dead weight to the whole show. Nobody cares about her. Nobody started to watch the series for her, she wasn´t even in it in S1. She is a terrorist, slaver and schemer against her sister who got her killed and participated on the fall of Mandalore the most.
It is painfully obvious where they had to insert her into the script. Like when everyone was like "Why were they waiting through the night to save the boy?" Because KK wanted Booo Mary Sue getting praised by others and having the honor of staying by the fire when they were eating.
Or why is she the only one besides Din who has a ship? How did the Mandos get on that planet? Did they took a taxi and killed the driver? It is obvious there was supposed to be a second, larger ship which can contain a group of Mandos.
When Din gave the motivation speech to convince the clan to help Karga and move to Nevarro, Paz said Din and Booo wanted to help Karga. But Booo said nothing, it was Din´s speech, because original script was written only for him and Paz for that scene.
The investigation of droid attacks should have been done by Cara (because she is a cop) and Din. This proves Booo wasn´t supposed to be in that episode at all and Din was supposed to fight that m0r0n in blue armor.
He was also supposed to see the mythosaur in the mines after taking bath.
I´m convinced Favreau´s original idea was to let Booo finally die in the bombing of her castle, understanding she is highly unpopular. But Furloni can´t let go of his crappy fanfic character and KK wanted grrrrl power.
There were rumours about 2 years ago Pedro will remove his helmet more often in S3. There was an interview where Pedro talked about it. It was on RUclips somewhere.
That would make sense if his story from the underdog to the ruler was finished as originally planned. It was all supposed to lead to the clans uniting with one basic creed for all of them. So getting rid of the helmet rule would make sense, and who else would be the one to establish it than Din? He met Mandos from other clan and Boba.
They sidelined him and put Booo on his rightful and earned place as someone who "walked both worlds". OMG! Din "walked both worlds" too, and some more. He was the one who accepted Boba as worthy of his armor, not Booo. She has not apologized yet.

There is a space in fiction for characters like that, and I think they achieved what they were going for quite well with Mando. They even gave him small bits of individuality by showing him being willing to bend the code for the sake of this small child. But yes, it is the kind of subtle storytelling that was never going to last in a show that has transitioned to being designed by comitee. It wasn't even perfect to begin with, just better than what came after it.

An idea that would work 100%: Daisy Ridley's character Rey is teaching the young jedi and rebuilding the order. Then some shenanigans happen with prequel characters: Darth Jar Jar Binks is the villain of this movie. He has discovered a way into the world between worlds and that is why his character disappeared after the prequels. Anyway Rey is brought up to speed on what is happening by old Mace Windu who was rescued from his fall in Coruscant when Ahsoka Tano pulled him out while she was in the world between worlds. Basically because of the misuse of the world between worlds there is potential for the total destruction of reality. Darth Jar Jar is trying to use it to become the ruler of the galaxy. So Rey and Old Mace Windu team up to track down and defeat Darth Jar Jar. In the end Rey realizes she has to sacrifice herself to fix the timeline and she accepts her fate and the timeline is brought back to the end of episode 6 and Disney can now start over from there. I do take issue with comparing Picard to the old Wolverine movies. I get what the drinker’s saying, but it’s a bad comparison. The Wolverine movies were like treating yourself to a bad restaurant. The service was decent, the ambience was fine, but the food itself was subpar. When you leave your feedback, the manager seemed genuinely sorry that the meal didn’t please and works to better the experience for his next customers. Picard, on the other hand, would be like returning to an old favorite restaurant after it’s come under new management, initially liking the spruce-up it’s received under its new owners, but then noticing a few things that just seem off. The hostess glares when you stop by for your table, and she rings a waiter without saying a word. Once you’re seated, the waiters sneer at you whenever they walk by, and when you ask what the hell is going on, they just chuckle to themselves and walk away. To top it all off, you see that someone pissed in your food when they bring it out to you. After you leave your feedback, the new management resents the very idea that they didn’t improve your existence through their directly vile treatment of you, and whenever the owner is interviewed on TV, he and his interviewer just laugh at all those worthless, uneducated slobs who didn’t appreciate their nasty looks and piss soup. You can’t compare the two experiences at all. One is earnest but underwhelming, the other is intentionally disgusting and wicked to the very people that made the franchise what it is. It’s about time we stopped looking for ways to save these franchises. The people in charge can’t be convinced to return to “normal.” They hate what you like, and more importantly, they hate you. Even if they made a show of dialing things back to please their overlords and keep a shred of their fanbase, you know for certain that it’s only that: a show. There’s no sincerity there, and the moment they’re able they will return to destroying your favorite cultural icons and tormenting you because, to them, that’s why they were put on this earth. That’s their purpose. They want to bring about a new culture, one entirely different from the one you love, and they do that by breaking your culture intentionally. When you’re in an abusive relationship, you don’t try to change the other person. You get the hell out of there, call someone you trust, and never connect with the abuser again. That’s our problem right now: we’re trying to change the other person, but we can’t. They don’t want to change. Time to leave these people for good.

The second problem is that it was not Star Wars in the same vein as the Original Trilogy, and even the Prequels. Andor was dark, dismal and "horrible" in the sense that there's no real hope in it. The Prequels and Originals had hope as a cornerstone of the story-telling, where even when things are going really badly, there's still hope for a brighter tomorrow as delivered by the dedicated men and women that were spear-heading those efforts. Andor's message is seemingly that no one is ever united, even in the face of a evil Galactic Empire, and that everything will suck forever, but you can try to make it suck a little less.
It's not what I want to see out of Star Wars. I want to see Wars, I want to see Jedi, I want to see Rebels vs Empire or Droids vs Clones. @Markus Gutjahr I don't think it's unreasonable to say that there isn't much interest amongst the wider fandom in a side character from a spin-off film. This is like making a spin-off show surrounding Merry or Pippin from Lord of the Rings.
As to the point about flashy battles, etcetera - yes. That's what Star Wars is built off of. Hence the name.
Flashy battles, laser swords, the fight between good and evil. Having a dismal show that doesn't look like, sound like, or feel like Star Wars bar the usage of names and the main character results in something that isn't appealing to Star Wars fans, or the individuals looking for those elements that are endemic to what Star Wars is. People, particulalry Andor fans, seem to forget that these elements are what people are looking for in these franchises, and when they aren't there, people will definitely jump ship because they go to those franchises looking for these things. There is definitely a place for stories like Andor's in the wide Star Wars universe, but in a format that is more appealing to the wider Star Wars fanbase. If Andor wasn't labeled as Star Wars, I'd be a whole lot kinder to it.
Andor reminds me of Halo 4. Halo 1-3, Reach and arguably ODST were all military sci-fi games that were focused on combined arms and fighting as part of a larger military.
Then 343 came along and decided that was too mainstream, so they basically removed the military sci-fi aspects almost entirely and made it entirely focused on two characters and a strong focus on melodrama. Funny, that Halo 4 was basically the death of the Halo franchise.

After episode 2 this season should’ve been focused on Din learning to wield the Darksaber with Bo Katan teaching him and slowly gaining confidence and respect for becoming the ruler of Mandalore. If the entire season was Din going to bathe in the waters and then going back and gaining the respect of his own clan, then going out to recruit the Nite Owls, to reclaiming Mandalore while becoming close to Bo Katan and developing some sort of closer relationship with her which leads to her character development and not anything else it could’ve been a somewhat better show. Also Grogu should’ve continued to master the force while being with Mando. They could’ve shown him throughout the season trying to use Beast Control or some other force power and failing which would then tie into the finale with him taming the Mythosaur. There could’ve been so many ways to make this show astronomically better but instead they spent an entire episode on two bad guys that we do not care about and also spent an episode on celebrity cameo filler. Give in mind that this season is eight episodes and they’ve already wasted one fourth of it. They could’ve had an episode showing us how Mof Gideon escaped or where he was while everything else was happening, they could’ve given us an episode setting up the current relationship with Din and Bo, They could’ve given us another imperial base raid episode or brought back Bill Burr’s character to do something! Anything than the last two episodes that had some sort of importance to the story would’ve been better than the other two episodes.

Bo is a dead weight to the whole show. Nobody cares about her. Nobody started to watch the series for her, she wasn´t even in it in S1.

I was saying it about halfway into this season; “The Mandalorian” was just a Trojan Horse for a Bo Katan series this time around. They obviously didn’t have confidence people would care about a Bo Katan series, so they cloaked it as something else.
I’ve been far more skeptical than many about Feloni for a long time now. I think I see that Feloni doesn’t want to continue in the footsteps of the OT. Feloni is far more interested in the Feloniverse led by characters such as Ahsoka Tano, Bo Katan, and Sabine Wren. So much for all the rumors about Kathleen Kennedy not getting her way. “The Force” is now obviously female, just like she told us all along.

He appeared in the majority of episodes, and even when other Mandalorians were on-screen, the story followed Din, not the other Mandos. You can have other Mandos, but we're focused on THE Mandalorian, in the form of Din.
Shifting focus from THE Mandalorian to Bo Katan is not want the fans want and not what the show is about. If it was called The Mandalorians and followed the struggles of the group of Mandalorians instead of just one character, I'd be more forgiving.

After seeing the latest episode of Mandalorian, I can't say I'm terribly excited about the direction Ahsoka and things afterwards are headed. They are clearly preparing to show the origins of the First Order which we've already seen firsthand by introducing Brendol Hux and his "Project Necromancer" as well as the first version of the Preatorian guards who wear pieces of future First Order Stormtrooper armor, just like the Imperial Super Commandos. I predict this upcoming film which will supposedly wrap up everything that began with Mandalorian season 1 will basically be a prequel to Force Awakens. And the upcoming Rey movie will surely include a much older Ahsoka and Grogu as cameos because LFL seems to want to turn Star Wars into the MCU.

Disney wont give Bo-Katan her own tv show because they know no one is even going to watch her. But using Mando’s show to be telling her broken ass story that no one gives two shits about, yeah sure!! Let’s do that! It’s the only way for Ms. Kathleen to continue spreading the love and to bring “the message” into the world. Ms. Kennedy was probably like: “If Jon Favreau gives, we shall take! It’s in the genre equality rule to share everything with each other. It’s in our right to take what’s ours, even if it’s not ours to take!”.
Think about this. If Bo-Katan was a man, they wouldn’t have casted him to replace Mando, since Mando’s the better bounty hunter or the better man, right? I mean we all know what happened to Boba Fett, no one cared. But if Bo-Katan was a woman!!! Sure. Why not?! 🤬💣💥🔥🖕🏼. Let’s dig a grave and throw Mando and Grogu in there, and let’s start making this about Bo-Katan instead. What!?!?! It makes me sick, honestly.
But honestly now I wouldn’t mind to see if Jon F. was being paid a lot to work on his own stuff with Din and Grogu without Kathleen interfering, separately from possibly another show with Bo! I mean I would watch both. Her story can be about uniting all mandalorians, and riding the dinosaur.. yeah sure!😂 No matter how much I hate that idea😫😤.. but let Mando be Mando doing his bounty hunter missions, and teaching Grogu to find his path through the force and all that! And to actually lead other mandalorians into battle and to be considered a fierce warrior and leader who actually walks the way regardless of bathing in the waters or not. Not like Bo a hypocrite person that walks both ways…. now that I think about it, It makes me jump off a building, man! a.k.a im Kermit the frog! They should honestly remove all the posters and advertisements with Mando and grogu in all cities of the Earth with democracy and turn them into Bo-Katan starring in “The Mandalorian” since it’s her show now and she’s the main role. I promise you if that happens in season 4, people will forget this tv series even existed. Or just claim that the mandalorian lasted for only two seasons. And like Drinker says, I can’t wait for that to happen! Muhahahah

    "I don't want it. I don't seek power."
    "Yes. This is the way."
I mean it's not inconceivable right? Bo Katan was shown how to be a true Mandalorian by Din, his diplomatic skills are better (routinely shown by how he negotiates with non-mandalorians), and the unifying force between the clans wasn't her but Din (and the armourer).
His words, brief as they are, actually convince people. It wasn't Bo-Katan winning a fight that brought the clans together. It was Din Djarin telling a story.
There's enough there to make it happen... I hope.
