You do realize that there are only light 10000 Jedi or so at most it a galaxy of trillions of people so of course there's going to be a metric fuckton of people that don't even know what a Jedi or what the force even is.
Me playing Assassin's Creed: I completed 85% of the quests in Unity while %15 of the way through the story. I would go from five star side missions back to the 3 star central missions and complete them in 2 minutes. Same deal in Far Cry 4. I had the biggest wallet made of demon fish about 5% into the game.
@@platypusnebula7401 Skyrim is another culprit. I have saved games where I am rl days into gameplay and not even been to the greybeards. I am the same with Farcry, I beat the outposts and upgrade all the bags and pouches as much as I can before I even begin the main quest. Especially Wallet, Ammo, Quiver and loot bag. The essentials.
@@krampusklaws2238 The big wallet is absolutely necessary. Plus in the process of taking down animals to make these wallets you learn a lot of important skills. For example, you can reduce an elephant's hp down to almost zero with grenades and then finish it off with a few bullets so the grenades don't damage the hide, and it takes a minute instead of half an hour like shooting it to death would, but this requires that you ambush jeeps on the road frequently to steal their grenades, so you learn hunting and ambushing skills. And you really learn the importance of a vantage point because if you're not up high the elephant with FUCKING KILL YOU! I found a great spot to do this and got my elephant wallet in no time.
Everyone got mad at that scene because he punched "the kid" I meanwhile was laughing the whole time, especially when he was trying to shoot the can that was 5 feet away.
I’m old and as a kid I was raised on the 30 minute TV shows of the 50’s and 60’s. That is exactly what “The Mandalorian” is. Mando is the gunfighter that has a questionable past who stands up for the little guy against the bad guys. The good guy always wins at the end of the show and moves on.
Yeah I'm a geezer also but the effect many of these spinoff, or whatever they are, has the effect of reminding me, over and over, of how good the stories these are based on actually are...thats the effect they have, just playing a RPG over and over. I think much of these two and half star creations would have been more successful if the writers had created series unrelated to SW. But that would assume corp. with mngrs who would invest in originality and that'll never happen, it's much to easy use the SW name. The ROP fiasco going on is the epitome of this type of thinking, nothing original just ripping off the past.
I like how the Mandalorian is portrayed to be a master bounty hunter, but he still struggled throughout the series. His journey felt more real. Rey on the other hand...
I kinda like how many times he's about to just die in the middle of nowhere. Sure, him not dying starts to get old fast, but I like this jaded loner who's also kind of a fuckup who could be eaten by blurrgs, or break his neck falling from Jawa sandcrawler, or mashed to a pulp by the Mudhorn, or eaten by venomous flying dinosaurs in the night. That's relatable. Rey on the other hand...
Rick Roll Rizal I think they overdid it though. He’s this total badass but almost every time he gets fucked up its because he made some really amateur mistake that made no sense. In the last episode he turned his ships defenses on when he left it. But didn’t think to do that on an unknown planet and then Jawas scrapped his shit? Plus, the fact he got his ass best by some wack-ass Jawas was disappointing. And why fulfill their task? You had them stopped, you could have shredded them and taken your stuff back. Just illogical. Jumps out in front of that guild droid not expecting to be shot without warning it first? You. Could have shouted your a guild member FIRST. Who jumps in front of a gun going HAM on enemies? Gets his ass nearly beat in a bare knuckle fight while wearing armor after walking into an obvious trap. In another obvious turn of events, he is double crossed by Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad. All for another pointless side quest. Can keep going. I’m glad to see failure, learning, improving, but damn, these were completely stupid mistakes someone of his experience shouldn’t be making.
@bokudensuduharagmail no yeah I meant that the whole thing in the prequels of giving the force a will was kinda meh and the prophecy was kinda meh, though the way Anakin fulfilled it was neat. Kreia's points make me big anger because she's lying and manipulating you, but everything she says is true and the will of the force becomes a pointless nihilistic thing when you get three trilogies (well two really, because OT had nothing to do with overblown prophecies and balance) of the force claiming it wants balance but constantly causing wars of genocidal proportions. It sorta made sense when it was a buildup to the Vong (though I dislike the Vong themselves), trying to unite the galaxy, but at present it's just a cyclical force of destruction. It was cooler when the force was more low-key and driven by the people who used it, and not the other way around, instead of having a Luke who chooses to learn the ways of the force and use it for good, we have a Rey who gets used by the force to do good without ever really making a decision or even helping the wider world until the very end and watching as trillions are slaughtered. Hence, why Mandalorians hold a much higher place in my mind than any force wielders.
@ShadoSnake The point of Kreia's character was to be the voice of Chris Avellone (the dude who wrote KOTOR 2) and his criticisms of destiny and the Force. The end conversation with Kreia at Malachor V was the synthesis of his criticisms. Kreia (and by proxy Avellone) hate how the Force exerts a measure of control over the galaxy for the purpose of establishing some Machiavellian form of "balance" while "countless lives are lost." Kreia hates the Force because it is negligent of the free will of individuals and this negligence results in massive amounts of pain and suffering for seemingly no reason except to keep the pendulum swinging. The Jedi and Sith have been fighting the exact same war for over 20,000 years. Sometimes the Jedi win and sometimes the Sith win, but their is no final victory. Kreia sees through the dogmatic bullshit of both the Jedi and the Sith and she sees how dependent their respective dogmas are on the Force itself. Kreia wants people to be free of the Force so they can struggle, grow, and reach resolution of both their individual problems and the problems of the galaxy. Kreia's message throughout the game is that of existentialist growth where people learn and grow through experience and failures. Something handed to someone has no value (remember the Refugee on Nar Shaddaa) and will likely cause more distress. I encourage you to replay KOTOR 2 and really listen to the conversations with Kreia. Once you get past the absolute good-and-evil bullshit, she actually makes a lot of sense. Oh, and here's a couple of great videos on Kreia and her philosophy: ruclips.net/video/0tN0RuRSp0o/видео.html ruclips.net/video/ZIkD35vHZG8/видео.html
I've lived in several countries like that in the Far East. When I come back home again to the West with all the busybodies and moral supremacists everywhere justifying massive taxes, open borders, unnecessary and ever expanding laws against the citizens, I kinda miss the "guideline" aspect.
The show's simplicity is its charm. The side missions are its charm. I can't imagine a better cast. It's been an antidote to the latest SW films that have all but killed the franchise. IMHO Gina has a great presence and she certain;y "acts" good enough for a charming spaghetti-space-western. I'm also of the opinion that Baby Yoda's character was a risk in that could have just as easily not worked. As a commenter said elsewhere the Mandolorian, in his armor, shows more acting ability than Rey.
All good, but instead of Carano, they could have had someone showing more grace, agility and acting skill. Such as Ming Na Wen (Fennec Shand). There are enough stunt-women in the cinema industry who can portray the character hundred times better.
Hater. Say what you want about Rey as a character but the actress is a great actress. And Rey at least is a character, not a good character, but still does a lot more than "the Mandalorian".
I actually liked that they cast Gina Carano, her fight scenes seem way more realistic than.....any other female fight scene with tiny girls beating up guys twice their size, including Wonder Woman.
Bitch. He doesn't lock his guns up, doesn't lock his ship. The empire remnants should and obviously could have gotten baby Yoda with their own resources
At this point “nothing” actually sounds rather appealing to me. For destroying the original saga, Lucasfilm will never win me back as a customer as long as the DT stands. Hell, even if for some reason they did decanonize it, I still have pretty much no faith in them to create new content that doesn’t break the world every other minute anyway. So yeah, just having _no_ Star Wars doesn’t sound that bad. Let it rest in peace and all that jazz
Disney should just let its "sequel" trilogy fade away like a fart in the wind being the creative, critical, and commercial failure that it is. They should distance Mando and any future shows and movies as far away from this trilogy as much as possible.
The “compliment” is dead on. The majority of the season is good with only a few woke episodes, moments and characters that make me roll my eyes. That being said, when my free year with Verizon is up I won’t be renewing.
It would be great if we got nothing from disney. instead the sequel trilogy was anti-star wars. It was like dark matter. The mandalorian despite its many flaws makes up the deficit.
show is okay, its leagues better then shit that is episode 7-9, but that isn't hard task, there's tons of things can do it better then those shit movies
I find myself saying this a lot lately: Sometimes you don't need a genre redefining revolutionary piece of media. Sometimes a properly done standard tale with a bit of passion is exactly what the doctor ordered.
I disagree completely. This kind of mindset only reinforce the laziness that plagues hollywood. Why should I try to tell a good story if I can simply reskin a western with star wars visuals? It's fair to follow a genre, you don't need to reinvent the wheel (like the joker did, followed the lonely man genre and did it's own thing). But a lazy ass reskin like this is something unacceptable imo Star Wars is limited, it's either the story of good vs evil featuring a chosen one... or they reskin a western or a heist movie and call it a day. And you people dare to commend something like this, lol c'mon, don't act like sheep, why give attention or money to something lazy like this?
@@MatoVuc R is not wrong tho. People claim Mando is prime television, while forgetting there were at least half a dozen TV shows that had better writing, pacing, directing, VFX & SFX. Mando is just good, not great, not bad. But if fans don't ask for better, they will keep getting crap. The same goes for The Witcher.
Watching the Mandalorian takes me back to the original StarWars in the 70s, when I was a wee lad. Even if it isn't as good as the original movies (Episodes 4,5,6), I'm so desperate for good storytelling and character development in the SW universe, that I find the Mandalorian to be quite awesome...
As someone involved in the making of this show (post production side), I can say that they played it a bit safe but do plan on expanding the scope a great deal in season two.
Good to know, playing it safe is fine. But pushing it a little more would be great. Just as long as it doesn't devolve into anything like the shitshow that is the sequel trilogy.
Thanks for your work. This is the best piece of Disney Star Wars so far. As someone who also works in media (but nothing probably approaching your level), I'd love to help edit something like this, I think.
Not to reflect on you as the production quality is great but isn’t it sad that this is the best thing to come out of Star Wars for so many years and even then it’s pretty average rather than amazing. I’m sick of all the “new” stuff in all franchises. They all suck
Kristen's actually doing a better job nowadays and is much more expressive. But her career is still fucked. RIP Update: Nah, she good. Roles found, career saved. Movie producers are loving her.
I could definitely understand how some are tired of seeing Gina Carano casted in popular shows recently - but i personally love it. Yes, her acting needs work, but her fight scenes are genuine - and you can tell she puts in the work, so they come out extremely believable. In a world where every studio is trying to put forth a strong female character; to the point where it's a detriment to the movie/show itself, I've never felt that with her - and i'm comforted that her "horrible emoting" will only get better with practice, haha.
I think as long as the directors keep GC in her safe zone her acting chops are fine. Haywire is a good example. She's been at least one clunker that wasn't that much fun to watch. But she is a real presence to be reckoned with on the screen. imho
@@jarvis8635 I mean, to be fair, you don't really care where you're hitting when you're in a hand-to-hand fight and it probably wouldn't hurt because of adrenaline
@@alek7998 Believe me, it does matter where you're hitting in a hand-to-hand fight. In fact, it matters so much that we've developed a plurality of fighting styles to avoid injuring yourself (or limit the injury) during an attack. Many grappling moves and styles, like Judo, were developed to deal with armored enemies because simply punching them achieves nothing but hurt yourself. I've injured myself hitting the wrong part of my opponent's skull once. I wouldn't for the live of me want to punch a helmet. That said, all fighters can make mistakes, so falling back on a wrong technique (punching a nearly indestructible helmet) is not outside the scope of a good character. I also saw her pulling grappling moves and throws, which were perfect for the situation.

I've said it so many times and I'll say it again, it feels like the creators of the Mandalorian actually had FUN with the show. They didn't want to tell a grand epic story with an overwhelmingly complex narrative. They wanted a mandalorian to go on adventures while trying to be a single dad. It succeeds in what its trying to do, and despite its flaws, it feels like a saturday morning cartoon or a serial western. Its just good fun set in the star wars universe. Something that I can't really say for the new trilogy.
I like how Mando shows more character then Rey, despite not even showing his face. As for Gina Carano, sure she's not an actor, but at least when she's in an action scene, I can believe she can wreck some face. Btw, I liked that banter between those two scout troopers. Shows that they are people too, not just cardboard badguys. PS: even Han didn't know really about the Jedi. The movies revolve around them, but in their prime there were only hundreds or maybe a few thousand of them in a galaxy of trillions of entities. Not unbelieveable if many don't know about them, or think of them as some kind of sorcerers or something.
I dont think Gina is that bad. Her performance can be rough around the edges sometimes but I think acting lessons could help smooth it out making it better in the future. I agree with most of the critiques Drinker gave but some, like your examples, are a little nitpicky. Another I would add is the ig11 one. That is an example of "show don't tell" if I have ever seen it.
Still, he should've had SOME knowledge about them, he grew up during the Clone Wars. With Han I always inferred from his "doesn't guide my destiny" speech in A New Hope that, he was aware of the Force, but, just wrote it off as superstition. Even if he heard stories about the Jedi it's not like he was present, witnessing their telekinetic feats & laser swordplay. Probably regarded them as exaggeration.
Yeah but Yoda and the Jedi were a central part of the Clone Wars and Mando was about 10 during that war. Also his parents were killed in it so you'd think the war would stick in his mind.
Yes Han didnt know about the jedi, but thats before we got the prequels where Jedi were meddling all over the republic and leading a war effort, ontop of all the lore for times before that like the high republic era, the old republic, etc where there were wars between Sith and Jedi, ontop of Mandalorian history being one where they warred against the Jedi actively, so I would find it pretty weird that they dont learn about one of their greatest adversaries. Not to mention, it seems like Mando was a child during the clone wars, which, again, jedi were actively and widely involved. Just seemed like a weird thing to have him be ignorant about at this point with the world building star wars has done. For people born sometimes AFTER order 66, I can completely understand them not know wtf a Jedi is with the empire actively erasing anything to do with jedi.
One of my friends told me that The Mandalorian looks like "a really well-made role play campaign" It's exactly that. And this is exactly why the show is so good, despite his simplicity !
Except men and women are designed to be strong in different ways, so as to compliment one another, not compete or turn into each other - which is what toxic feminism is doing - making every woman 'kick ass' and mouthy, which actually turns them into men and strips them of true God given femininity. The reverse can be seen with male depictions in Hollywood - the white male is evil and sinister or emasculated and crushed by the 'strong woman'.
@KAOS NATION Stow that commie talk! I don't know how it is where you live, but I live in the good old US of A, where you can be and do anything you set your mind to!
Watching the Mandalorian is like traveling back to the 80's and watching a show where they combined the A-Team and Knight Rider. Self contained episodes where the good guy(s) travel to an area, help the people, and leave. I like it.
kronos6948 I would like it if that was the point. But they can’t figure out the point. They set the expectation higher in the beginning of a cohesive season long story, then with no explanation it became self contained episodes. Then wasn’t again. It should have been all self contained episodes with episode 1 being the season finale.
But in all of those cases, I feel we still got more of a cohesive plot thread, even with the episode of the week. In this category, of random space adventures with the random crisis of the week, help X, leave, etc - Firefly is still #1, by FAAAR. RIP; the best single season show in my memory. It had likeable characters, each with their own intrigues; better acting than this, better action; even if far apart at times, and so far, more intricate, interesting and convincing 'side quests' per week, as this video called it.
@@skyserf Chis is still wrong. One killed off half a fleet. The other die off screen and was avenged by a killer robot. And said Killer robot had a more meaning full death then the both of them.

Yet, despite this he left the comfort of his home to help Mando for no other reason than he considered him a friend. He bravely defended baby Yoda with his life, and was killed off screen unceremoniously for his efforts. This highlights the notion that not everyone gets a heroes death, sometimes the good guy fails and is killed ruthlessly. So, I disagree with your assessment, Kuill’s death definitely had way more impact.

1: it didn't say he doesn't know what a Jedi is. 2: getting hit in the helmet is hot best bet (see medieval armor and its downfalls) 3: I'd agree with this, however, maybe Mando doesn't leave him, maybe he just gets out of whatever gate Mando puts in front of him (metaphorically speaking). 4: I don't know if this is true, but the ship is bigger than any other in the show, so it could have a shield generator.(speculation). 5: should be obvious. The Mandalorian was exactly what I've been looking for these days on a show: simple, uncomplicated fun. Cracked a few beers, watched it with the lady, and had a good time. But better than that, it also appeals for the lore hungry fans of Star Wars that look for those kind of things as well: my girl is very passionate about SW stuff, and wouldn't stop pointing out how this or that related or happened in dunno what time in the SW universe. She freaked out with the "darksaber' ending, while to me it was just the bad dude getting out with a glorified can opener. She explained what it meant and how "big" of a thing it was, while I just nodded and smiled half drunk haha. We both had a good time for different reasons, and that marks The Mandalorian as successful in my book. Actually looking forward to see more of it!
Thank you! I don't get people that expect masterpieces after masterpieces. It is exactly what it set out to be. People nit-picking star wars back and forth really lost scope of what it's supposed to be. Sure, there are issues with it, but that can be said about literally anything. At this point it's borderline clickbait. I love this channel, but really, people need to chill
Thats exactly what we need people complacent about both their own and everyone else’s mediocrity. That’s good for business, you don’t need good products anymore just addictive ones as long as marketing is good they have a business! Great stuff!
They do have shields even in the original Trilogy. They destroy a shield generator of a Star Destroyer in Return of the Jedi just before the A-Wing crashes into the bridge.
Of course they have shields. They mention them numerous times through the films. In the first X-wing attack he tells the pilots to put their deflector shields up. The reason they attack with small fighters is because larger ships can't penetrate the shield. They have to take the shield down in ROTJ because they upgraded the shields so even smaller craft can't pass though. They need the shuttle codes to pass through a port. Han says at one point "the shields can't take this much longer" when the Falcon is being pursued and hit by enemy ships. One of the main reasons TIE fighters are so compact is that they lack shielding (and hyperdrives and life support and landing gear). I haven't watched those in years and I still remember all that stuff.
The Mandalorian is the breath of fresh air that the Star Wars IP desperately needs. It might not be quite as great compared to the original trilogy, but I'm just glad to see that the franchise isn't completely in shambles just yet, and the fans are still loyal to that what is truly Star Wars. Yeah the first season is rather rough, The Mandalorian had me eager for the next episode every week.
Disney should have been printing 2billion dollar checks for itself with every Star Wars movie until the end of time. Instead, they managed to make the world not care about Han Freakin Solo.
I thought he would love this one a bit better. I thought Mandalorian sofar is saving what I felt waaaay back about star wars. I thought it was badass. Finally a great show!
i agree. Exactly what I thought from Episode 1. It's ok. I'll probably keep watching it until / unless they start using it for a platform like the sequels.
I’d actually disagree I think most of the media is overating or underrating it this isn’t some average show it has good well known actors an accomplished writer and some great directors with an average plot and good characters but I’ve seen poles saying it’s just as good as A new hope which just isn’t true it’s a good 8.5 out of 10 show not a 6.5 or a 9.5 it’s just a good enjoyable show
Just finished watching season 1 and it made me feel something that I haven’t felt in years watching anything with Star Wars in the tittle.....entertained! But while I hear season 2 is pretty decent this is still a Disney production after all and with the recent firing of Gina I figure it’s only a matter of time before the show crash and burns like they all do eventually.
I think you'll note that the original trilogy has plenty of twists (ahem I am your father ahem) as well as some thought provoking ideas (Anakin being dead from a certain point of view, or perhaps anything Yoda says). The original trilogy has a simple narrative, you always know what's happening but it's not just predictable set ups and payoffs.
@@pbj4928 to be fair that all happened in Empire. Y'know, the SECOND entry in the series. Now, I dunno how it holds up to Flash Gordon or Doctor Who - but it seemed rather ambitiously epic to me.
This is the first time I've really disagreed with you. I actually appreciate that the show didn't try to do too much. It's like Gunsmoke, that show is a classic and is one of the longest running shows in history for a reason. But you don't go into Gunsmoke expecting an experience like The Prestige, or Joker, or anything like that. There will be times where it is more compelling than others, and you take that as it comes and appreciate it for what it is. But ultimately there is a spot for a simple show with a decent spread of action and character development that doesn't try to do to much. It has an interesting enough setting and interesting enough plot, but many episodes are more or less an adventure in his life on any given day just like the old westerns were. I think its nice this style of show is returning. Too many shows try to hard to do too much these days, then under deliver. The beauty with The Mandalorian is that you can go into it not expecting a bunch of convoluted plots that may or may not work, or some sort of physiological thrill ride that leaves the brain spinning. Its simple fun, and it works. I hope it stays around.
I agree the show is pretty good..i just wish they would use more of the original star wars music..just give it a more complete SW feel.. but it's ten times more entertaining than the Sequel movies Disney has done😑😣😥
See, that's an excuse for them to make sub-par stuff and have people buy into it. We shouldn't have to beg for table scraps, and we shouldn't be 'obligated' to like it just because it has Star Wars in the title if it's not actually well written and thought out. Don't let them off the hook just because they're doing the least they can do to get by. We deserve better, and the franchise deserves better.

If the movies were any good the Mandalorian would just be “ok”. With the movies being as tragic as they are the Mandalorian stands out. And rightly so.
This is like using the concept of grade boundaries relative to student exam results. If no student gets higher than 40%, then 40% becomes an A grade. Honestly, with all the shitty writing and shoehorned in social justice from the new trilogy, it was a nice change of pace for me when I started watching the mandalorian. Issue is that they need their barriers and limits. Female power is very much so centered around emotion and cunning, male is about perseverence, strength and stoicism. Two opposites that complete a whole and that is a lot of what we are missing. I miss female characters that are powerful in ways that are feminine, and thus unexpected. Enchanting men and thus shaping politics. Many arent aware of it but Helen of Troy was one of the most powerful women that caused tens of thousands to die for her, and a civilization to collapse for her. In the oddyssey this is pointed out where she half heartedly admits that she was a whore, who ran off on a whim from her husband. And when Telemachus and Menaleus start crying she drugs them to lull them to sleep. This is the kind of storytelling we need and want, not the strong woman shite we get. Not even the "equally strong without diminishing each other" idea that was presented in the video although I dont doubt the critical drinker would basically share the same opinion I have put out here. Basically im tired of shite storytelling, and I need to vent.
@@boguslav9502 Do you get why women would be "cunning"? It's not because that is necessarily a "feminine" skill. It's because my gender realizes reality and knows that in a fight, the boy wins 9 times out of 10. So what do we do? How do we win or even have a chance of surviving? What men call "cunning" and "emotions" is what I call sound strategy to deal with an unfair playing field. I'm sure that men would want to play differently if the world were different and women were physically stronger. Then, men would be playing to the non-physical strengths in order to win against sheer barbaric physical violence. Instead of setting it up into gender, because this is a galaxy far far away and the people, even the human looking ones, are not humans... let's set up fatal character flaws and less obviously stereotypical expectations. Look at Penelope - the one who was so clever that she knew she couldn't beat her suitors on a physical level. So what does she do? She undoes her work for her stupid moronic husband's funeral shroud in order to ensure her son's survival. (She's probably planning for her son to get to a proper age and take control because that's what a society like this would have needed... a strong male warrior.) And her moronic husband, who apparently is so clever, can only think of fucking the goddesses because "he had no choice". (Sorry, I haven't read the Odyssey in a long time. I just remember thinking.. damn he's always making excuses for why he has to sleep with somebody.) (The legend of Helen of Troy is that she was enchanted and thus ran away. That makes her a victim, not a whore. I always like Elizabeth the First as an example. She understood the reality of the world and played the "virgin" while playing the men in her court and the men in power in other countries. She understood that it isn't always about physical strength.)
Hunter W Just because YOU didn’t like it doesn’t mean it’s made for children lmao. It’s all subjective. And if you only finished 1 episode, how are you gonna judge the entire show 😂😂.
The Mandalorian is simple, and altough they try, trought side quests, make that simple plot fits in a 30 minutes episode they were able to replicate Star Wars's spirit. It has it's problems, but i personally believe that the overall result is good
"One character brings up the question if the order of the empire was preferrable to the chaos they have now, but then they all get killed" That was the point of that scene, though, because that was the two sides of the Empire. It was full of reasonable men who brought order, but it was also full of petty dictators who would kill you on a whim because they could. I'm thinking of guys like Captain Needa from ESB who were competent and honest, but got their windpipe crushed all the same.
This is Star Wars! The characters were great. Sure it had a few ok episodes, but for the most part, it was the best show I've seen in forever! As an aside note.. Rogue one for me is right up there with the original trilogy. They nailed it!

Mandalorian sometimes looks and feels almost like the first seasons of Samurai Jack There was also a grand quest, but with a lot of routine and side missions
It actually mirrors an old Japenese Samurai movie called 'Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance', it's about a wandering swordsman travels around with his son.
@@Deuteromis - not quite. there is the similarity of the wandering lone skilled killer and child, but that is *so far* the only similarity. I'm saying this having read the Koike and Kojima manga (from the early 1970s) in the early 1990s. Lone Wolf and Cub (aka: shogun assassin, baby cart assassin) revolved around a central premise of Itto Ogami - an honorable man, the former official kaishakunin employed by the Tokugawa Shogunate- seeking revenge for his wife and household having been butchered and having been fraudulently branded a treasonous criminal. He was killing his way to the top - the Yagyu clan and their henchmen were his enemies. This is non-trivial - the Road to Hell (meifumado) is THE central premise of the whole epic book series. So far, the show lacks anything like that central premise. Now, it *might* pivot in that direction, given what the season finale revealed. But, as of now? No. Not quite. Which would not be dissonant - iirc the manga didn't lay out the root cause of the story until late in the first 300-odd page volume. ... damn... where did I store those fat bastards?
I hated it. It will quickly become dated. They used current year mannerisms and joking style. It pulled me out of the show that is supposed to be a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Not 2019 earth matching the same joke style as Guardians of the Galaxy.
Mando not knowing of the Jedi actually makes a lot of sense. In the original trilogy, it shows that most people have never even heard of the Jedi or the force. And people like Han, who have heard of the force, usually don't believe it exists.
If you came to watch "The Mandalorian" expecting to see "Star Wars", you're gonna be sadly disappointed. However, if you came to watch "The Mandalorian" expecting a sci-fi-themed "Have Gun, Will Travel" show then you're gonna have a blast. I like it because it's *not* the now-toxic-as-hell "Star Wars". Star Wars is dead - long live The Mandalorian sci-fi western TV show!
That was my first thought after watching a few episodes! I felt like I was watching a video game with a main storyline and side quests to acquire things to advance the main storyline. I had to get half way through the season before I could mentally let that go.
re: 10:00 - That four-and-a-half minute scene of the storm troopers shooting the shit was the high point of the entire season for me. I loved that scene.
Christopher Lee at least it was written by a fan. It’s respects the original theme and feel. Also getting to see tertiary life forms in action that we only had glimpses of in 4-6.

He's a modern version of The Lone Ranger without being as high and mighty and overly altruistic.

It's realistic. Everyone knows about his successes but nobody sees his struggle and failures. The realistic way people get a reputation
But hey at least try followed Luke's steps, was op from the start and for no reason at all became assholes for no reason
I kinda like how many times he's about to just die in the middle of nowhere.

I meant that the whole thing in the prequels of giving the force a will was kinda meh and the prophecy was kinda meh, though the way Anakin fulfilled it was neat.
Exactly how I felt. 100%

I'm surprised she let them hire someone competent like Favreau to make this, maybe she was out of the office that day.

In fact, it matters so much that we've developed a plurality of fighting styles to avoid injuring yourself (or limit the injury) during an attack. I've injured myself hitting the wrong part of my opponent's skull once. I wouldn't for the live of me want to punch a helmet.
It knew what it was from the get go and embraced it
I concur
I just wish they told a good story coherently. Instead its a crap story told poorly.
@ hal, I think his hate for droids stems from the battalion of battle droids wiping out his people and almost killing him before getting saved.

In a times of wokeness... the Mandalorian tries to entertain us, not lecture us.
That is indeed a positive. Lazy, zero creativity, etc... But it least tried to entertain instead of sending condescend messages

I'd take lack of creativity over creative stupidity any day
The franchise died with Rey Skywalker. You didn't know?
@@RRRRRRRRR33 Classicism doesn't mean zero creativity. In case of Mandalorian, God is in the details.
Also his parents were killed in it so you'd think the war would stick in his mind.
ha ha ha, good one
Star War Episode 10 : Rey vs Superman
Are you from Hungary my brother ?

It should have been all self contained episodes with episode 1 being the season finale.
kronos6948 ok boomer
But in all of those cases, I feel we still got more of a cohesive plot thread, even with the episode of the week. In this category, of random space adventures with the random crisis of the week, help X, leave, etc - Firefly is still #1, by FAAAR. RIP; the best single season show in my memory. It had likeable characters, each with their own intrigues; better acting than this, better action; even if far apart at times, and so far, more intricate, interesting and convincing 'side quests' per week, as this video called it.
Right it's just loosely connected enough to pull together a finale but if you miss an episode it won't completely derail the story

We both had a good time for different reasons, and that marks The Mandalorian as successful in my book. Actually looking forward to see more of it!

@@boguslav9502 Gina would kick your ass, spaghetti-arms
I just remember thinking.. damn he's always making excuses for why he has to sleep with somebody.)
(The legend of Helen of Troy is that she was enchanted and thus ran away. That makes her a victim, not a whore. I always like Elizabeth the First as an example. She understood the reality of the world and played the "virgin" while playing the men in her court and the men in power in other countries. She understood that it isn't always about physical strength.)
i prefer this simple, predictible and fan service series infinitely more than the crappy sequel trilogy
That's like saying "I prefer this peanut butter sandwich, over that shit sandwich."
Crap = shit = sequel trilogy = turd sandwich
I would like to agree, but I got so absurdly bored after episode 1 that I couldnt finish the show. It's made for children and man does it show.
Hunter W Just because YOU didn’t like it doesn’t mean it’s made for children lmao. It’s all subjective.
And if you only finished 1 episode, how are you gonna judge the entire show 😂😂.

THIS. IS. THE. WAY!
The way this is
This is the way
The Mandalorian is simple, and altough they try, trought side quests, make that simple plot fits in a 30 minutes episode they were able to replicate Star Wars's spirit. It has it's problems, but i personally believe that the overall result is good
"One character brings up the question if the order of the empire was preferrable to the chaos they have now, but then they all get killed"
That was the point of that scene, though, because that was the two sides of the Empire. It was full of reasonable men who brought order, but it was also full of petty dictators who would kill you on a whim because they could. I'm thinking of guys like Captain Needa from ESB who were competent and honest, but got their windpipe crushed all the same.
Remember this :
The clone wars got better and better over time.
The rebel got better and better over time.
I am carefully optimistic.
Hope you are right, i liked them too and i like Mando so far.
Rebels didn't get better lol
Clone Wars yeah to a point Rebels was 💩 from start to finish
Rebels was dog shit startbto finish

Appreciated the shout out to “Farscape.”
Yeah it was an interesting show
Frell yeah!
@Matt Horansky Piratebay has it
But, it is not really fair to compare the two.
Yeah I could never stand mainstream sci-fi until I watched Farscape. Love that show.
This is Star Wars! The characters were great. Sure it had a few ok episodes, but for the most part, it was the best show I've seen in forever! As an aside note.. Rogue one for me is right up there with the original trilogy. They nailed it!
The franchise died with Rey Skywalker. You didn't know?
I never saw any real character in the show. If those are characters...
My dude I get your criticisms, they're all valid. Personally I'm just happy we have a semi-episodic series that doesn't involve pretentious storytelling that goes on forever.
Say what you want about The Mandalorian, at least he wasn’t a Mary Sue unlike...
Godot Rey wasn’t a Mary Sue but okay
King Slayers Rey wins every fight and gains new abilities every time

it is basically a kids saturday cartoon, with some splashes of Firefly and western/samurai stories. But that is not a bad thing.
Basically the thing people wish media would go back
Filoni previously produced the Clone Wars and Rebels animated series. This really felt like a live action show in the same style as those.
yeah true, I like it
Vin Sama yeah....because god forbid we have stories that challenge the audience. *Pew Pew* lasers is all we want 😂

Gina Carano excites me and kind of scares me at the same time...im seeing a therapist to deal with these "feelings"
There are other professionals who can better help you explore those feelings. They come in leather.
I really enjoyed The Mandalorion. I really liked Gina Carano too, her acting has improved a lot recently. At least she wasn't a Mary Sue. 😂 It reminded me more of Firefly than Farscape.
Right on. Nobody complained when Arnold did action movies. Gina is pretty much one of the few female actors who can actually pull of action scenes without it looking like a choreographed dance. Other then that the mandalorian wasn't bad. At least better then the later movies.
Her character actually has character.
I'll say here acting here is FAR better than it was in Haywire, oh god! It helps that her character here doesn't say too much
@@strtfghtr88 I want to watch that movie everytime I get watching I turn off because of her acting against a stellar cast, though she has come along way and I was impressed with her role in Mandolorian.

Gaz 84 just like Han Solo in the OT!
I rather liked the stormtroopers bit really, its a low form of humor that was missing in other new SW
It's some of the best Disney humor in years, because it was written by a genuine comedic genius. (Taika Waititi)
I would have liked one of them to be a crack shot, and mocked the other. But, you could always look at it from the presumption that their weapons are crap.
@@RTannamal No, stormtroopers just suck. They either can't hit shit or don't know how to properly maintain their equipment.

Jakob Parker clone wars ?
Mandalorian sometimes looks and feels almost like the first seasons of Samurai Jack
There was also a grand quest, but with a lot of routine and side missions
I actually think Samurai Jack was much better and more interesting, especially character wise Jack is much more interesting!
Laidback_libra u seen primal?
It actually mirrors an old Japenese Samurai movie called 'Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance', it's about a wandering swordsman travels around with his son.
@@Deuteromis Shit! I never noticed that but you're right.
Hey that scene with the two speeder troopers was fantastic.
Yes! It was brilliant and, sorry drinker, seeing them miss the tin can and shake his blaster like it was broken was the moment we needed
I hated it. It will quickly become dated. They used current year mannerisms and joking style. It pulled me out of the show that is supposed to be a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away. Not 2019 earth matching the same joke style as Guardians of the Galaxy.
I thought it was weird and out place. Plus Baby Yoda got pounded on and wasn't even bruised and no consequence came of it.
@@mattjindrak I was sure people would be super pissed about that. Didn't hear much.
i read that Jason Sudeikis is one of them..
Mando not knowing of the Jedi actually makes a lot of sense. In the original trilogy, it shows that most people have never even heard of the Jedi or the force. And people like Han, who have heard of the force, usually don't believe it exists.
The first season was pretty amazing, no doubt.
Amazing? No, it's good though just not great.
"feels like a videogame" cause it was supposed to be...
Even a mission in the "Knights of the old republic" RPG game from the early 2000's to retrieve those eggs.

@@Pigrain really convincing
I would totally play that if it was made well.
That was my first thought after watching a few episodes! I felt like I was watching a video game with a main storyline and side quests to acquire things to advance the main storyline. I had to get half way through the season before I could mentally let that go.
The two speeders' banter was like a bad parody of Red vs Blue's "Do you ever wonder why we're here?" gag.

I took it as a nod to show like Red vs Blue. It was also my favorite part.
Definitely better than any of those POS movies Disney has put out.
That's not really an achievement. Its not really much better or more sophisticated than Xena warrior Princess in space.
@@christopherlee627 Hey even Xena was better than the sequel movies. At least it was mostly entertaining (until the last "season" when it was dying).
Christopher Lee at least it was written by a fan. It’s respects the original theme and feel. Also getting to see tertiary life forms in action that we only had glimpses of in 4-6.
