So Powerful… SUPER/MAN The CHRISTOPHER REEVE Story - Out of the Theater REACTION

  • Christopher Reeve was so much more than just Superman.
Today October 10th marked 20 Years to the day since the world lost Christopher Reeve. This documentary is about a Super Man who played Superman and it left me wildly introspective about the legacy we leave behind. About the importance of heroes both Fictional and real. And about how we affect those around us in profound and surprising ways.
I love Clark Kent, I Love Superman; I didn’t know how much this would make me love Christopher Reeve. What an experience of a film. So happy DC Studios and Warner Bros. were able to secure a full theatrical release so people could see this film with others, sharing this kind of experience on the big screen was cathartic and beautiful.
Hug your loved ones, and tell them how much they mean to you. Appreciate, everything.

Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is a 2024 documentary film about the life of American actor Christopher Reeve after a horse riding accident left him paralyzed, and his subsequent work as an activist for disability rights.[6][7][8] The documentary was directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, who co-wrote the script with Otto Burnham; its title is a reference to Reeve's role as Superman in the 1978-1987 Superman films.[3][9] Reeve's children Alexandra Reeve Givens, Matthew Reeve, and Will Reeve are featured in the film

Sir, it's fantastic that you're part of the comic book community and loudly shining a light on this art form. Ya just convinced a diehard Superman/Christopher Reeve fan to see a movie he was already excited to see! Keep up the great work!

I saw it on Sept 21st and I was so moved by the story and the talent he showcased in everything says he was the total package. I wouldn't be surprised if he portrayed Jor-El in a Superman film had the accident hadn't happen. I could even picture him as Jor-El going to the council, pleading to them about Krypton's doom, we need to evacuate the planet and the whole Kandor arc with them shrinking themselves as a way to rebuild Krypton through Kandor. One of the most powerful lines is from Glenn Close who said if Christopher Reeve was alive today Robin Williams would've been alive today. She knew that Chris would lookout for Robin because of the strong brotherhood they had. When Chris Reeve said "I ruined my life and everyone else's..." that hit really hard. I remember watching a movie before his accident called "Above Suspicion" where he plays a cop who gets partially paralyzed from the waist down, and as he goes through recovery he suspects his wife is cheating on him his brother and setup's up an elaborate plan to eliminate his wife and brother pretending to be paralyzed. Long story the whole plot is another cop portrayed by Joe Mantegna trying to prove that Chris Reeve's character is not paralyzed and he committed the murder. It's ironic that he portrayed a character that is partially paralyzed and this horrific accident happened.

Seeing as I cried during the trailers, I'm 100% crying during the actual documentary. I didn’t realize just how much Christopher and his wife did for the research and study of paralysis. My uncle was paralyzed in a jeeping accident over 15 years ago and the methods of support, physical therapy and assitance tools that he uses only came to be BECAUSE of the pushing this wonderful couple did. I can truly never thank them, as well as the countless scientists and medical professionals, enough for just how much they have given the community. Truly a blessing I continue to see daily, with every moment I get to spend with my uncle.

Saw this during the two-day limited release run. Barely a minute into the documentary, I was bawling. I also appreciated how much was focused on Dana Reeve as well. Although Christopher Reeve had nothing to do with the 90s Superman animated series, I couldn’t help but think of my favorite quote from the show, while watching this documentary: “In the end, the world didn’t need a Superman; just a brave one.”

Reeves best Superman. I can't wait to see it sounds inspiring. I know his son is actual news reporter for good morning America. I really enjoyed the film. I'm 49 years old and remember watching the news coverage and the interviews that followed. Growing up reading comics off and on my whole life made me a huge fan of Superman 1 and 2. I remember watching the broadcast premiere on TV with my family. Christopher was such an amazing person I am grateful this doc has come out now so this generation of fans can hopefully learn from him and his family. Coy, I highly recommend you watch the Donner cuts of Superman 1 and 2 back to back.

I remember watching your reaction to "Superman: The Movie" on the Reel Rejects channel, and you saying something like, "It was good" and "I see why people like it." But you can never really understand the magic and wonder of seeing a man fly for the first time when, thanks to modern movie magic, it is so common today. All in all, after watching this documentary, I hope you can understand why Christopher Reeve is, and always will be, Superman to so many millions of people. May he rest in peace.

Richard Donner was fired after Superman I came out and decades later he was able to take test footage and incomplete shots and make his movie and it works much better in every way than the theatrical cut.
